@CurlyMummy1912 I am so trying this tonight. I am so knackered..

LadyB90 · 11/09/2020 10:57

With you guys on the sleep front! We've had some building work done the past couple weeks so I'm trying to clean today. It's so much effort I'm literally sweating and breathless and took me an hour to clean one room. So frustrating!! Once I've cleaned I can finally build the baby furniture and sort out the nursery !

FirstSurprise001 · 11/09/2020 12:03

@LadyB90 you’re a trooper! Don’t over do it as you’ll be paying for it tomorrow!

I’m exhausted today, even the window cleaner said I look like I need a good nights sleep. Aka, you look haggard. Had my 34 week appointment this morning, little boy is stretched right out doing starfish upside down. On the other hand mummy has her 5th urine infection of the pregnancy. Yay! 🙄

Anyone else counting down the days now!? 😂

CurlyMummy1912 · 11/09/2020 12:55

@FirstSurprise001 @LadyB90
Definitely counting down the days and can't believe how tired I am...

FirstSurprise001 · 11/09/2020 13:12

Me again - anyone looked into drinking raspberry leaf tea/done it before in previous pregnancies? I’m thinking of starting this weekend (anything to get this baby out on time!) 😂

1990shopefulftm · 11/09/2020 13:21

@LadyB90 the only things I can manage is cooking and washing at the moment, it must be difficult cleaning up after builders.

'@FirstSurprise001 from what little I could find on it, apparently you can try the tea from 32 weeks.I m considering trying it a little later on as i struggle to drink anything fruity but brilliant if it works.

CurlyMummy1912 · 11/09/2020 15:27

Here is my pillow setup for hip relief. Just had a blissful 2 hours of sleep on this. The hole is where the hip goes. Took a bit of setting up to get it right for me but it's worth it now I have it set!

@CurlyMummy1912, I'm a primary teacher and working from home x

DressingGown87 · 11/09/2020 21:56

@Mc3209 glad your appointment went well! Hope he flips soon. Is there any hire companies for hot tubs near you? I own a hire company, so have lots of enquires from pregnant ladies, but always tell them to check with their MW about use.

@KitKatKit thank you. Do you find the tablets work better than the liquid?

@LadyB90 don’t strain yourself too much. Take one room at a time, thats what I’ve been doing. I find the skirting boards, and washing the hardest part.

So I thought I was sorted for the baby with cot, bits and pieces. But I’ve borrowed a lot from my sister, and she’s just found out she’s expecting baby 12weeks after me! So needs it back. So It not urgent to sort, but something else for me to do / pay out for.

@FirstSurprise001 we were talking about raspberry leaf tea at NCT this week. Apparently the types you get from supermarkets/health food shops contain a really small amount of raspberry leaf, you're best looking for one that is at least 80% raspberry leaf to get the full benefit.I've also heard you can sweeten it with a bit of honey. The advice I was given is not before 37weeks.
Also apparently 5-6 dates a day from 37 weeks has a similar effect.
I think anything is worth a try!

CurlyMummy1912 · 11/09/2020 22:43

I love fruit teas and think they're an awesome idea when pregnant generally. It will be even nicer to drink them when the weather gets colder. I won't be joining you as I have an elective booked so don't want to accelerate things! Pumping colostrum (which obv you can save and use) is another great way to get labour going as well as lots of oxytocin from cuddles and kisses. Walking is obviously another but let's not get carried away...stick to the fun methods!

I weighed myself today and I'm 20kg more than usual. I realise that's not all baby! Some of it is boobs, water... and doughnuts. Makes me realise why I'm constantly so tired and why my hips prob hurt so much though! 20kg weights at the gym are sooo heavy!

FirstSurprise001 · 12/09/2020 08:19

@SJR86 @CurlyMummy1912 thank you both for the feedback on tea etc! I never would have even thought that the supermarket ones aren’t as strong so may have a look in Holland and Barrett or something today! I think I’m going to go with the pumping colostrum from x weeks too!

Sls668 · 12/09/2020 09:04

I’ve been wondering about colostrum, is it worth expressing beforehand? People keep mentioning syringes, are they a specific type, or just, for example, like a calpol syringe? Then do you just freeze them and take them with you in a freezer bag?

Mc3209 · 12/09/2020 09:26

@CurlyMummy1912 I've gained similar amount of weight. I am a bit swollen, especially in the legs (it's fun how long the indents take to go away, if I rest a laptop on my lap for example!). But I am under no illusion biscuits have something to do with it 😂 I've given up now, I tried not to gain much weight earlier on, but it clearly didn't work. I will sort it once the baby is out.

@Sls668 it's 1ml syringes you need for colostrum collection (you can get them from the midwife, methinks). You can start collecting from 37 weeks, and freeze them. Then take it with you to the hospital/wherever you are giving birth when the time comes.

Flora20 · 12/09/2020 09:33

@FirstSurprise001 Like someone else said, most of the teabags won't work - you'd be best looking for loose leaf (probably online) otherwise it will taste nice but won't have enough of the active ingredient. H&B didn't stock a decent one when I looked last time but that was a very small store so a bigger one might! (Last time round my tea arrived in the post on the Saturday afternoon, I was in labour by the evening... Highly effective, I didn't even need to open it!)

Mc3209 · 12/09/2020 09:34

@DressingGown87 thank you, I will look into it.

CurlyMummy1912 · 12/09/2020 09:37

@Sls668 you can ask your midwife for syringes specifically for it. You can use a pump or hand express. My sister is a midwife and she did it loads then froze it. Brilliant for calming a hungry baby when they're just learning to latch x

SJR86 · 12/09/2020 10:06

@Sls668 this is the leaflet produced by our local hospital for colostrum harvesting:

1990shopefulftm · 12/09/2020 11:24

@CurlyMummy1912 I've put on about 16kg, I hadn't really thought of it that way before as to why my joints are so uncomfortable.

WaveStreet · 12/09/2020 11:52

We did one of the honest midwife classes this week and someone asked about taking harvested frozen colostrum into hospital, she advised against taking it in as if labour takes longer and there isn't somewhere to store it it could be wasted.

I tried @CurlyMummy1912's doughnut pillow last night, didn't manage to get it right 😂 i daren't weigh myself at this point.

CurlyMummy1912 · 12/09/2020 11:57

@WaveStreet don't give up! I had the best sleep last night thanks to my doughnut hole! 😂😂😂😂

WaveStreet · 12/09/2020 12:08

@CurlyMummy1912 need to get pillow stacking tonight!

SamK93 · 12/09/2020 13:04

@DressingGown87 I'm just about recovering and getting over my cold now, it wasn't very nice, couldn't sleep at night as one minute my nose would run and then the next it would be blocked, if I breathed through my mouth I'd wake up and want water, if I drank water then I'd need the toilet 😂 Also been having a lot of problems with my other half, he's caused me so much stress in this pregnancy, I literally cried all night and he didn't even care at all. He makes me feel guilty for all of his mistakes, when he's in the wrong instead of making it up with me he will just ignore me and give me the silent treatment and it's just horrible. I handle everything on my own, he doesn't help at all, my kids school is about 9 miles out and we get stuck in a lot of traffic it takes about 40 mins in morning and I get terrible braxton hicks first thing they're so uncomfortable when I'm driving. I drop them off and pick them up everyday whilst he's at home. He promised that he'd do at least one of the runs morning or afternoon. I'm just getting too tired for it all. I asked him to go with me to do the shopping the other day as we had run out of quite a lot of things and the braxton hicks when I walk around really stops me in my paces I didn't want to do any heavy lifting, in and out of trolley, boot and then into house etc he said that's fine wake me up around lunch time and we will go before we pick the kids up. Did he wake up? No. Did it all myself. The way he walks around ignoring me even when I've explained what's the matter with me he doesn't even look me in the eye when I'm speaking to him. I'm just fed up of it all.

Mc3209 · 12/09/2020 14:51

@SamK93 lots and lots of hugs your way. That's really tough. Is it a recent thing or has he been like that for a while? He sounds like a right pain in the arse.

SamK93 · 12/09/2020 15:05

Thank you @Mc3209 I know he's always had this side to him, I keep expecting him not to be like this though, just fooling myself really. It's my own fault, I've always took responsibility for all the errands etc and have let him off easily but now I need the help at times and I don't receive any.
