@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt glad all is okay with you and baby, make sure you take it easy.

@SamK93 hope you feel a bit better today after a night's sleep.

@CurlyMummy1912 with you on the baby elephant feeling too! Its hard getting used to being so big all in the middle isn't it. That must be lovely having your partner back.

@kitkatkit hope you had a better sleep last night, do you use the gaviscon liquid as well as tablets?

Suffering with sciatica pain the last few days but did some stretches before bed and woke up feeling a bit better with it. Also Boris' new rules have ruined my friends plans for throwing me a baby shower which is rubbish, it was carefully planned with loads of space for social distancing 😔

It's our 3yr wedding anniversary today though so looking forward to a lovely meal later.

Freddie1987 · 09/09/2020 08:41

@WaveStreet I totally sympathise, I've been looking forward to some friends from down south coming up for one night for weeks now and it looks like it's going to have to get cancelled. Have tried to remain positive over the past few months but the reality of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy like my friends have theirs is sinking in and I feel pretty down about it now 😞 is there anyway you could reduce your numbers or do something virtually perhaps?! Not quite the same but might be something to keep spirits up!

WaveStreet · 09/09/2020 08:51

@Freddie1987 that's a shame about your friends too. Like you I've tried to be positive throughout and I have no problem with doing what we need to do to keep infection rates as low as possible because I'm worried about the impact of further lockdown. Just having a tiny selfish moment! Hopefully we can either do something small or if not, over zoom, something to look forward to still.

1990shopefulftm · 09/09/2020 08:56

@WaveStreet I know it's not the same but my friends did a virtual baby shower for me, they did the same games we would have done get video chat and it was a lovely evening. They even found a way to get some balloons delivered for me so I would still have a kind of decorations.

@Freddie1987 I m the first one of my friends to have a baby so have nothing to compare them with but there were so many things I d hoped to do during this time and haven't done any of them, just hoping perhaps cases will stay down so at least we might get the births and post natal experiences we want.

CurlyMummy1912 · 09/09/2020 09:00

@WaveStreet oh no! The baby shower ☹️ I have sciatica too although very mild thankfully. Hope you have a lovely anniversary!

GhostWorld · 09/09/2020 09:20

I ended up going to hospital last night as I thought my waters had broken - turned out I've got a water infection so I'm on antibiotics now. I'm really glad I went in although I was nervous to be there on my own (my DP stayed in the car outside for TWO HOURS haha). I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time which was lovely, and I was more comfy on the hospital bed than I have been at home for a long time, which bodes well for labour!!!

1990shopefulftm · 09/09/2020 09:33

@GhostWorld hope the antibiotics get your sorted quickly, but at least you got to hear their heartbeat out of it.

1990shopefulftm · 09/09/2020 10:03

has anyone had high sugars in their urine before? I had high sugars for the first time at my last midwife appointment, however I did the sample at my appointment rather than in the morning before I'd eaten so the midwife thought that might have been the cause.

I've been told if I have them again at next weeks appointment then I'll have to get a GD test, going to try and avoid sugary next a couple of days before in case it helps but a little nervous that it's going to come back positive again. Especially as I'm likely going to be allergic to the glucose solution so I would have to ask for the fasting bloods instead and i m not sure if that's as accurate or not.

Freddie1987 · 09/09/2020 23:02

@WaveStreet I hear you, but I don't think it's bad to have a selfish moment, you're doing something incredible and deserve to have the same experiences as everyone else. It's just such a shame that things seem to be moving forward 1 step then 2 steps back, I can't bare listening to the news at the moment when they're taking about tighter restrictions until Christmas...

@1990shopefulftm I really hope so too, got to keep positive and make the best out of the situation I guess!

@CurlyMummy1912 yes!! Having someone's caring hands on you works wonders doesn't it ☺️glad you had a lovely experience too. Bet your partner was so glad to see you again with much more of a bump!

@Flora20 haha I keep hearing that men jumping in these birthing pools naked is a thing, the last thing you want as a midwife is a naked man to deal with as well as the woman 😂 and yes, I'm definitely going to have another massage (lockdown permitting) closer to due date I think to relax. Good to keep the oxytocin flowing! I've actually got reflexology booked in for the second time in a couple of weeks too, luckily I get it covered on my work's health plan. Whereabouts are you based again? I'm sure you can find something local.

Is anyone else struggling with how tight their belly feels by the end of the day, it's honestly like a balloon waiting to pop and so uncomfortable. Wondering whether I should be eating less but my appetite is still that of a constantly grazing cow 😬

Flora20 · 10/09/2020 19:31

Had a weird day, I ended up going to the assessment centre to get checked out this afternoon as last night baby's movements suddenly changed completely. I'm still feeling some movement so was fairly certain there wasn't anything major going on, but having had weeks and weeks of really strong, forceful poking and kicking it's suddenly gone to occasional gentle pokes and prods in completely different places. And he slept all night last night when usually I'm being kept awake by star jumps and forward rolls or whatever! All is absolutely fine according to the monitors so I can relax tonight at least, but I'm hoping he gets back to the usual antics to be honest - it's unnerving not feeling movement every 5 minutes!

FirstSurprise001 · 10/09/2020 19:34

@Freddie1987 my belly also feels super tight in the evening too. But I 100% know it’s down to trying to eat as much as I always have. I’m not even hungry but I just get it in my head that I need 3 meals a day and then I think I need to have some fruit for the baby, oh but I just fancy a couple of Oreos too and it gets out of control 😂

Got away for a night last night, which very nearly ended up with a dramatic drive back home! I’d been feeling nervous about leaving the house all day and then as we were walking to dinner in the city started getting tightening in my stomach on and off. It didn’t pass for an hour and I was so convinced he was coming early. Luckily I think it was a false alarm and haven’t had any other symptoms. Don’t think I’ll be risking another night away until I pop now though 😂

CurlyMummy1912 · 10/09/2020 20:21

@FirstSurprise001 @Freddie1987

I have such a tight tummy in the evening too. Also find it hard to eat but find I'm quite thirsty so I have squash with crushed ice in from the fridge dispenser and find them so tasty!

I can't understand how she possibly can grow any bigger. I keep thinking I'm going to have her early as it feels like I'm ready but 6-7 weeks more to go xx

CurlyMummy1912 · 10/09/2020 20:21

Are there any other third trimester primary teachers on here?

LadyB90 · 10/09/2020 20:24

@CurlyMummy1912
I'm a primary teacher but started my maternity leave already. I haven't been in at all since March. Are you still working?

CurlyMummy1912 · 10/09/2020 20:28

@LadyB90

I have just been told today I can work from home until the end of September! They really wanted me to go in but have made the decision today to let me carry on a little longer. I was mostly wondering if anyone else in 3rd tri have been able to continue WFH x

DressingGown87 · 10/09/2020 21:07

@SamK93 hope your feeling a little bit better now?

@Flora20 that made me chuckle about the skinny dipping husbands! Glad everything was ok on the monitor, and hopefully your at ease a bit. I had a strong period of movement yesterday, and since the pattern, style, force has changed, and is less frequent. I’m hoping she is facing my back. Did they comment on the position?

@FirstSurprise001 glad you got your night away, despite the scare! Hope it’s made you feel better.

@CurlyMummy1912 I’m WFH but not a teacher, so it’s probably easier. Glad they accommodated your request though. I’m with you on no appetite.

@KitKatKit yes they do seem rather similar. Hope your had a few better nights. It’s horrible waking up with the reflux. I think the tablets have started to work, but still have no appetite and generally exhausted. Keep looking for a massage, I’ve had a few and they do help so much. Or give the DP a YouTube tutorial 😂

@WaveStreet soery to hear your plans have been ruined. Hope you’ve manage to plan a virtual gathering, or after birth get together. Happy belated anniversary, hope you had a nice meal.

@Freddie1987 I understand your frustration. I had so many things in my head I wanted to do before I had a baby. Or Atleast enjoy it with my friends. It’s been a totally different experience, hope your ok. My belly also feels so tight, when I do my evening injection I always imagine that it’s just going to go pop, like a balloon 😂

@GhostWorld hope your ok, and the antibiotics have kicked it! Must have been a horrible scare.

@1990shopefulftm no answer to the blood sugar, hope you got sorted

@DressingGown87 my appointment isnt till Wednesday, just keeping my fingers crossed it will come back negative.

Glooorb · 10/09/2020 23:34

@1990shopefulftm not sugars in my urine, but I have GD so if you need any help / want to know my experience in that, give me a shout! Fingers crossed that everything is normal moving forward 😊 GD is ok but I do miss my cakes and biscuits 🥺

1990shopefulftm · 10/09/2020 23:41

@Glooorb thank you, I have none of the risk factors for it at all so hopefully all will be fine. I m just nervous that if I do have it they ll have found it a bit late on in my pregnancy and understandably I d have to have more monitoring and change my birth plan.

Mc3209 · 11/09/2020 03:37

Had my 32 week appointment yesterday, all fine, the beastie is still breech (I am pretty sure he keeps flipping between head down and breech though judging by the rolls and the position of the movements). He has 3 weeks to turn around the right way now. Oh, and yesterday he had what felt like a foot in my cervix. What a treat! 🥴

I tried having a bath yesterday. Thought it would help with hip and lower back pain. Never again. Turns out lukewarm baths are really not my thing (I like them scalding hot please!) and I just felt like an upturned turtle.

CurlyMummy1912 · 11/09/2020 05:13

@Mc3209 they still have plenty of time to flip around so don't worry about the position at all. We have just had a hot tub and I lower the temp a bit and get in. NHS guidelines say hydrotherapy is ok to a certain temp (check NHS website). If you know anyone with one or have one maybe this would help? I'm literally awake now as my hips are KILLING

Mc3209 · 11/09/2020 05:34

@CurlyMummy1912 same, and that's despite a pregnancy pillow, another pillow between the knees, and sleeping on an extra duvet. Tomorrow might take some paracetamol before going to bed. Unfortunately don't know anyone with a hot tub, so will have to make do without it.

KitKatKit · 11/09/2020 09:48

@Mc3209 @CurlyMummy1912 Another one here with the aching hips at night. This week has seemed particularly bad sleepwise, I've also been side sleeping using my pregnancy pillow since very early on so you'd think my hips would have toughened up by now! I've also had a few nights of waking up totally flushed/ hot... I'm basically not looking forward to bed time anymore which is a bit of a shame!

@Mc3209 I'm 34 + 4 and my little guy is still breech too Confused so I feel you on all the rib pain and foot in cervix feelings!

@DressingGown87 the reflux seems to have good and bad days! Crossing my fingers for you that the tablets ease yours off and hope you're otherwise well.

@roarfeckingroarr How are you doing lovely?

1990shopefulftm · 11/09/2020 09:54

@KitKatKit the hot flushes are annoying, i have to sleep with the window open most nights now and i drink a lot of water as i seem to overheat when I'm cooking.

CurlyMummy1912 · 11/09/2020 10:00

@Mc3209 @KitKatKit

Early this morning I figured out that if I make a doughnut shape with the pillows I can rest on my thigh and side whilst my hip has all the pressure taken off it. The hip sits over the hole. Will definitely try this tonight! Hope you both find some respite from it x
