@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I hope everything's okay, how many weeks are you? Fingers crossed for you keep us updated x

@DressingGown87 so lovely to hear from you! I was just wondering where you had gone as I've posted a few times and can always count on you to reply to me even if you can't help with a certain issue I can always count on a reply. I'm really sorry your going through the acid reflux and sickness it must be horrible! Not good that your losing weight either, is there nothing they can prescribe to help? I'm still having issues with mat leave, it was supposed to start from 8th aug, I get paid fortnightly and they've messed me around soo much I still haven't been paid anything!

DressingGown87 · 07/09/2020 22:09

@SamK93 aww have they still not managed to get it sorted for you? Did you speak for the HR department? I think my boss was so confused on how he was going to pay me, that he’s tried his best to sort it out beforehand. I just wake up feeling like something is stuck, and then I just start being sick acid. They give me omprazole but it’s not started working yet. You ok?

Let us know how you get on @Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt, hope you're ok

KitKatKit · 07/09/2020 22:39

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Hope you're okay, sending you good, strong positive vibes for whatever is happening right now!

@1990shopefulftm Bless you, I know what you mean about feeling like a whale Grin

@DressingGown87 Ah nice to hear from you but sorry that you're struggling with symptoms. I seem to be waking at 3am every day and then am unable to fall asleep again. So I spend the day exhausted trying to work (can't nap, never been able to), and then when I get into bed at night I struggle to fall asleep and stay asleep.
It's as if someone is trying to prepare me for log3 with a newborn Wink

Has anybody else been getting period type pains? I don't know if they're Braxton Hicks, but I seem to be getting these cramps really low down over the last few days. They don't last long and aren't regular. It's just a bit odd!

Sls668 · 08/09/2020 02:09

Have everybody else’s movements changed recently so they are more rolls, wriggles etc than big kicks? I do still get some kicks and the movements are very regular but they’re just like snake movements now rather than frogs!

Flora20 · 08/09/2020 07:13

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Hope all is ok, keeping every crossed for you.

@DressingGown87 Glad he's giving you some time off beforehand, he's obviously a bit panicked about the concept of maternity leave! Acid reflux is horrific, it just makes me want to cry but the Omeprazole has worked wonders in general. I take my tablet mid morning or midday and then have a swig or two of gaviscon before bed too - after trial and error it seems to be the best way to avoid the dreaded reflux.

@Sls668 I get both - rolling around and changing direction (which is actually getting quite uncomfortable!) but still massive kicks and punches too. I'm feeling so bruised!

Mc3209 · 08/09/2020 07:50

@Sls668 it's mainly rolling and wriggling, with an occasional kick, for me.

SamK93 · 08/09/2020 08:40

@DressingGown87 yeah I'm due to call again at 9, they just keep prolonging it and fobbing me off. Last week it was oh we're looking into it and it should be done my end of the week. Nothing was done, I called up yesterday and spoke to head of finance he said oh everything will be sorted by tomorrow. So I'm just waiting for them to open so I can give them a call. I really hope you start feeling better soon, not long to go for you anyway so hold tight.

@KitKatKit I get periody type pain really low down on and off, it's like a crampy feeling, not regular just random times and in my lower back too. I mentioned it to my midwife she said it's because baby's head is down so something to do with the pressure and gets a bit painful when he's moving his head around there lol.

1990shopefulftm · 08/09/2020 09:28

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt hope everything is okay.

@Sls668 yes the past week or so, there's the occasional hard kick but it's mostly him rolling about now.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 08/09/2020 10:51

What a fright. I'm back home now. I had two gushes around 5pm. Had various tests and got hooked up to a monitor. Baby is happy and fine, all my obs were norma and the Dr was happy with my amniotic fluid levels so just need to take it easy and monitor for any more leaks. Thank goodness all is fine. Although I keep saying I want the baby out, I'm not quite ready just yet.

1990shopefulftm · 08/09/2020 11:03

@Moneyseesmonkeydoesnt glad that you're back home, hopefully, you won't have any more scares.

SamK93 · 08/09/2020 11:12

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt that must have been quite scary for you, take it easy now and hopefully it will stay in for a few more weeks! X

Flora20 · 08/09/2020 11:30

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Glad all is well, hopefully you've got a few weeks left before you need to go back! Take it easy today 🙂

I've just had my homebirth midwife visit, all very straightforward as I've done it before but it's nice to know the paperwork is all done and it's all ticked off! It is another reminder that time is accelerating though... Potentially not very long to go!

1990shopefulftm · 08/09/2020 14:47

my back and hip pain seems to have ramped up a bit today, had to breathe through it a bit when I get up which does seem to help a bit so think i m going to look into hypnobirthing a bit more for labour.

DressingGown87 · 08/09/2020 15:33

@KitKatKit Your sleep routine sounds just like mine. Struggle to get to sleep, wake up with acid / sickness, then struggle getting back to sleep, and then wake up early. Also not a daytime napper. Hopefully its just our bodies preparing. I get a few cramps on and off, also put it down to her being head down. Hope your doing ok?

@Sls668 Yes more rolls, stretching and the odd prod! I think they are just starting to run out of room.

@Flora20 Thank you. I take mine in the afternoon too, as they said not to take with iron tablets, as it stops these absorbing. Plus I have to take them a certain period of time from my injections and asprin. Glad its worked for you, it seems to have eased a bit today, so hoping its the start of feeling better. My boss is 96! so yes the whole maternity things has worried him, as he has never had a employee go off.

@Flora20 Posted too soon! Glad you appointment went well, exciting that your having a home water birth! Time is going so quickly!

@SamK93 Hope you got somewhere with work this morning. They shouldnt be so relaxed when they are controlling someones income.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Glad everything is ok, and your back home! Lots of rest and feet up! Hopefully baby will stay settled for a few more weeks. I've been the same, want her out and now I'm like 'I AM NOT READY'

SamK93 · 08/09/2020 17:22

So my children went back to school last Thursday, DS then got a runny nose over the weekend. Today me and my DD have a sore throat and runny nose, I'm feeling really run down all of a sudden! I took two paracetamol but it hasn't made a difference in the slightest. I used to take beechams all in one for colds before pregnancy but now I have no idea what to take. Any advice on what will make me feel better? I have no energy at all but too much I need to get done so I need to be feeling better

1990shopefulftm · 08/09/2020 17:26

@SamK93 you can make yourself some honey and lemon and try a saline spray but that's it that's safe in pregnancy really for colds.

Freddie1987 · 08/09/2020 17:46

@SamK93 you will need to double check with chemist but I had a pregnant friend who said Vick's First Defence spray was safe and I've used it before and sworn by it. Otherwise, yes lots of honey, lemon and fresh ginger in hot water...and rest!

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt so glad you got sent home ok, hope you're not too anxious and can put your feet up a bit. Sounds like you should be ok for the next few weeks!! I've heard of fluid leaking and as long as you make sure you don't get an infection you can carry on as normal.

@Flora20 ahhh I'm excited for you. Thanks again for your advice, I'm now booked in for a 36 week assessment and ordered my mini pool for hire 😁I've gone mini as I asked my boyfriend if he'd want to get in with me and he said 'no chance' 😂

Anyone struggling with sleep and hip pain, I went for a pregnancy massage yesterday and it was incredible. Felt quite emotional actually, like a good release. The studio in Leeds I go to is so lovely and all Covid guidelines adhered to (therapist was wearing mask and visor and everything sanitised to the hills) if anyone would like the link. They're also amazing at reflexology which I'm booked in for and have been told can be helpful if you go overdue! Although who knows if we'll be able to do much more if Leeds goes into lockdown 😫

Flora20 · 08/09/2020 20:17

@SamK93 Honey and lemon has been proven to be as effective as any medication anyway so that should work for you. You could also try putting a towel over your head over a bowl of hot steaming water to clear the congestion. I think olbas oil isn't recommended but look up whether eucalyptus or peppermint oil are ok? If so put a few drops in a diffuser. Plus, paracetamol is fine so take a couple to help before bed if you're at all feverish.

@Freddie1987 Eek that's exciting, pool booked is a big step! My midwife asked hubby today if he'd be getting in, he muttered something about not really... She just asked that if he did he should wear some trunks as they've had a couple of men jumping in naked on the spur of the moment 😂

Flora20 · 08/09/2020 20:46

@Freddie1987 Ooh also, massage sounds amazing... I'm tempted to look for one! Are you planning to go again?

CurlyMummy1912 · 08/09/2020 20:56

@Sls668

Have everybody else’s movements changed recently so they are more rolls, wriggles etc than big kicks? I do still get some kicks and the movements are very regular but they’re just like snake movements now rather than frogs!
Yes!! It's freaky! She keeps moving to different positions as well as still tickling and kicking me!
CurlyMummy1912 · 08/09/2020 20:59

Is anyone else suffering from hysterical giggling fits? Omg. I cut a sandwich in half today and laughed until I was nearly sick. I'm not joking. Partner is calling me "crazy baby lady". The poor man.

CurlyMummy1912 · 08/09/2020 21:16

@Freddie1987

Yes! Loads of hip pain as I'm as heavy as a baby elephant. I've also been for preg massage and I found it INCREDIBLE! I went before my partner got back from sea (he's been away for 4 months - left when I was 13 weeks and returned at 31!) so I found the physical contact really welcome and soothing too.

KitKatKit · 08/09/2020 21:45

@DressingGown87 Yep, our night time routines seem very similar, you have my full sympathies! I'm otherwise okay, I had a bit more energy today but last night I suffered with acid reflux that was sooo severe it woke me at 1am as I thought I was going to be sick! Ah well, here's to another night of knocking back the Gaviscon tablets! Hope it's an easier one for you too.

@1990shopefulftm Bless you, the hip and back pain is the worst. I'm laughing at @curlymummy1912 comment about being a baby elephant, that's how I feel! And like I'm trying to manoeuvre a baby elephant every time I want to turn over in bed!

@SamK93 that sounds crappy, lots of hot fluids and rest if you can manage it (easier said than done I'm sure). Hope you feel better soon!

Everyone having pregnancy massages I am so jealous! I can't find anybody local to me that looks reputable. The most I'm getting is a half hearted, one handed attempt from DH whilst he's watching the football or something. sigh Envy
