@GhostWorld I’ve used the name sometimes, to make sure I still like it, but trying to put off using it, Incase I have to change it / want to change it when she’s here.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt That doesn’t sound a nice experience, no wonder your opting for a planned csection. Hope your appointment goes well today, and they respect your decision. Maybe now they will get a consultant to sit and speak wit you about your past experience, and this birth plan.

@Mc3209 I’m not sure sorry. I thought you just clicked again to remove. But just bookmarked your post to try the theory and can’t remove it 🙈

Hey ladies, 31 weeks today, due with a little boy on October 28! I keep wanting to jump in on the conversation but there is so much going on that I don't know where to start!
I've got only two weeks of work left and then a month's worth of holiday that I couldn't take over the lockdown period! Counting down now!!

1990shopefulftm · 26/08/2020 11:08

@Laanie welcome:)

Mc3209 · 26/08/2020 11:15

@DressingGown87 Ah I am sorry, now you are stuck with that post!

@GhostWorld and @DressingGown87 I thought me and DH have settled on a name already, so I went and ordered a small comforter with baby's name on it. Same evening DH arrives home and says 'I am still not 100% sure on the name..' Gah! I suspect we might keep the same name (as we really struggled to find one we both liked), but don't do what I did!

@Laanie Welcome! 2 weeks is sooo close, almost there. I've got another 5 weeks to go and it cannot come quick enough.

1990shopefulftm · 26/08/2020 13:55

Had a different midwife again for my 31 week appointment so I ve seen 7 in my pregnancy now. I didn't do a urine sample beforehand so my sugar was high but then I did eat about 2 big bowls of shreddies this morning so hoping my fasting sample for my next appointment comes back normal. I m thinking that they ll just end up going through everything in the 34 and 36 week appointments now as they haven't really gone through any info on labour or anything yet.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 26/08/2020 14:11

Back from my appointment. Was given a 'talk' about the risks of csection and the benefits of vaginal, however, she has promised to chase the consultant again to make contact with me. Apparently its standard practice to not be able to request a section until 36 weeks so I'll just have to wait some more.

I think this was my 5th midwife @1990shopefulftm, doesn't really help with continuity of care, despite the extensive notes on the system/in my book!!

1990shopefulftm · 26/08/2020 15:19

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt that's awful that you have to wait until 36 weeks, when you're term at 37 weeks and you have very good reasons to be requesting one.

Yes my notes are a little repetitive in places with all the different people having written in them and they had some trouble with getting blood results for me as the hospital midwifes have been covering for the usual community one at my GP so they do blood forms differently.

I'm just glad that I'm still able to be checked in person every 3 weeks and occasionally the different viewpoint has been beneficial I guess.

Flora20 · 26/08/2020 17:20

It's such a shame that there's so much variation in care, I think I've been lucky! Only had one proper face to face appointment (32 weeks one is tomorrow morning though!) but I've spoken to the same midwife on the phone previously and I've had good experiences with the ones after scans too.

I'm surprised at how late some of the discussions are too, @Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt @1990shopefulftm, I had my first baby at 37+5 so there's not much time for arrangements to be made potentially!

roarfeckingroarr · 26/08/2020 18:22

Welcome to the group @Laanie !

Sls668 · 26/08/2020 18:22

@WaveStreet we have no names at all. I have 2 I think are ok, he doesn’t like them. Generally we’ve just given up talking about it, I’m hoping she just looks like something when she comes out 😂 we just call her Baby

I feel like we’ve been quite lucky with midwives. I’ve had the same one throughout, apart from one appointment when she was on annual leave. If I text she rings straight back too. I never really feel like I have much to talk to her about or ask though.

Is anybody else weirdly obsessed with their pregnant body? I’m so in love with my belly. My belly button is almost an outie and I’m obsessed with touching it and showing it to people 😂 I feel like I want to keep this huge belly forever

1990shopefulftm · 26/08/2020 18:26

@Flora20 I keep thinking I have two months to go when really it could be less than 6 weeks, I ve got some birth preferences written down so although I hope a midwife goes over it with me I feel like I ve gotten plenty of info online to feel informed.

Mc3209 · 26/08/2020 19:15

@Sls668 I love my belly! I keep meaning to get DH to take few proper pregnancy photos as I don't really have any, just my selfies. I want to organise a bunch of photobooks, and pregnancy one is on the list. But for that I will actually need photos to put there.

roarfeckingroarr · 26/08/2020 20:50

@Sls668 @Mc3209 I quite like my belly. I used to have a piercing in both top and bottom of my belly button and obviously now they're out and I have this weird looking (to me) outie. It's bizarre but it's pretty cool. I was a bit in awe of my mahoosive boobs but they look normal again because belly is so big.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum this evening. I've had BH contractions on and off since Monday. They're not painful, just uncomfortable, but they're not going away. Maternity triage recommended getting checked out but I'm tired tonight, I would need to get a bus to hospital and I have a busy day at work tomorrow followed by a pregnancy massage. I don't feel a sense of urgency because baby is moving still and I have no other signs of early labour.

Flora20 · 26/08/2020 21:34

@roarfeckingroarr Tricky one. Are you still having them? I understand not wanting to go in when your gut feeling is it's fine... Could you potentially take tomorrow off work if you know it's going to be busy and put your feet up instead? Give your body a chance to rest and see if that calms them down? X

KitKatKit · 26/08/2020 21:59

@roarfeckingroarr I second what @Flora20 said.
You know your body better than anyone, maybe you should take it easy tomorrow.
If you do have even the slightest of concerns I'd get to the hospital though. And get an Uber not the bus if you can xx

Flora20 · 27/08/2020 12:15

@roarfeckingroarr How are you today?

I had my 32 week appointment this morning, all uneventful but it's always nice to hear the heartbeat! My home birth assessment is all booked in for 2 weeks' time and then my 36 week appointment after that - it's all feeling very soon suddenly 😬

SamK93 · 27/08/2020 12:44

@Flora20 it's so weird everything seems to move so quickly after the 30 week mark! It's so scary to think I previously gave birth at 36 and 37 weeks so when I think oh I still have 8/9 weeks left until due date then i suddenly realise baby will come when baby wants to we can never be too sure 😂

I have a 4d private scan this evening I'm so excited for it! I can actually bring two adults with me too which will be lovely.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 27/08/2020 13:24

I'm considering a pregnancy massage. Has anyone else had one?

Flora20 · 27/08/2020 14:11

@SamK93 I know! I realised this morning that my daughter arrived less than 6 weeks from this point - which is a bit scary! Better get reading my hypnobirthing book 😂

Scan sounds good - enjoy!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 27/08/2020 14:15

Less talk of early arrivals please Confused 😮

GhostWorld · 27/08/2020 14:50

I've been feeling sick all day, and before bed last night.. I think it might be that dreaded 3rd trimester nausea! Does anyone know if I'm better off just dealing with it or should I make myself vomit? I'm not overly pleased at the idea of bending over a toilet in my current state but equally its horrible feeling like I'm on a boat!

LadyB90 · 27/08/2020 15:08

@GhostWorld my morning sickness returned last week too. After having a horrendous first 21 weeks sickness wise I was not best pleased! I personally don't find I feel any better after being sick anyway so I just deal with it, I figure my body would make me sick if I needed to be and I have been sick a few mornings this week. I think generally it just sucks and there's not much we can do about it! Hope you feel better soon and it's just a temporary nausea!

GhostWorld · 27/08/2020 15:12

@LadyB90 thanks, I hope yours is just temporary too! I was really lucky in the first trimester and just had a few bad days rather than a lasting issue, hoping this is the same!

Freddie1987 · 27/08/2020 15:12

@SamK93 that's so exciting! I'm kind of regretting not booking in for a 4D in time now...let us know how it goes ☺️

Sorry if this has been discussed already but I had a really positive 31 week appointment today and my midwife was very encouraging of me thinking about a home birth. It was on my mind initially but then I switched to hospital due to Covid and the home birth team sort of being out of action. It seems like Leeds is pretty much back to normal now!

Has anyone else got experience of home birth for their first or is considering it? I want to ring the team to discuss things but want to arm myself with relevant questions or concerns so just wondered what other people's experiences have been like? The main benefit I'm thinking of now is that I can transfer really easily if I need/want to as I live so close to the hospital. Plus I think it would be nice to have the set up and one on one midwife care in the initial Labour with an option of transferring if I start to panic or need stronger pain relief!
