Baby and I are officially 30 weeks today! We’ve celebrated by having the worse nights sleep ever 🙃 I feel like I’ve slept in a cardboard box!

SamK93 · 21/08/2020 10:58

@Sls668 officially 30 weeks today too! And I actually saw my real life midwife this morning for the first time since March lol! All I've had is telephone consultations until today. Finally had bloods, BP and bump measured today.

Flora20 · 21/08/2020 11:42

@Sls668 I thought I was 30 weeks today too but turns out it's 31 for me - lost track of time 😂

So as of yesterday it's confirmed that I'm taking maternity leave from the start of term instead of the end of September - school won't let me work from home and as there's no social distancing or mask-wearing on a site with 1200 teenagers and staff, I'm not risking it. So I'll be off from 33 weeks. Not quite what I'd planned but I'll have plenty of time for sorting the house out and filling the freezer!

DressingGown87 · 21/08/2020 15:30

@SamK93 @sls668 congratulations on your 30 week milestones!! Sls hope you’ve managed to get some rest! Sam glad you got to see your MW hope your appointment went well.

@Flora20 glad you managed to report them, with no come back. That’s what’s annoying me, I’m having to keep my windows and patio doors closed even in the day, due to the smell! It’s only a few people at a time, but it’s everyday. I think if I reported him, he would know it was me, and it would make me anxious. Time is going so fast! Happy 31weeks. Atleast you get some time to relax, sort the house / baby things out, whilst staying safe and avoiding the risk.

Ok, a rant coming up. My DH is very close with his sister (who lives in a different country), as in talk everyday on the phone close. I get on absolutely grand with her despite the language barrier.

My problem is that he discusses things like car seats and prams for our baby with her and not with me, at least not in such detail (she has a child already). Her opinion is the truth in the first instance, and my opinion is always second best because I don't have children. It drives me absolutely up the wall! I am really regretting not sorting out the travel system myself and clearly he cares more of what his sister thinks about the pram that I will need to use! I am hormonal and upset (although i understand I am over reacting, hormones and all). So I am quietly steaming and researching prams.

1990shopefulftm · 21/08/2020 17:09

@Mc3209 I don't think you're overreacting at all, it's all stuff you both have to use so its your opinion that matters not hers.

DressingGown87 · 21/08/2020 17:24

@Mc3209 I agree, your not over reacting. This is stuff for YOUR baby, that you will both have to use. I get, engaging her in the conversion and asking an opinion from someone with experience. But these conversations should also happen with you, and your opinion should matter, and it should be a decision that you make together. Hope your ok.

Is two starter packs enough to put in the hospital bag? I think I might order more so we've got it as a back up at home but I don't want to be running out if we have to stay in the hospital.

SamK93 · 21/08/2020 17:42

@Mc3209 I don't think your overreacting at all I have the same thing with my sister in-laws just because they're older than me and have had kids before me. I've got two kids already but they still love to have their opinion and tell their brother all about what they'd do for their kids and because they did it or have that certain thing then it must be right and we must have what they say.

Thank you @DressingGown87 all seemed okay at appointment.
I've just been cleaning out the kids rooms, getting rid of all the the things they didn't need, and just having a thorough clean and as I was taking a black bag downstairs I hit the bag against door and the edge of a toy pushed in and scratched me in the stomach, it hurt quite a bit and I have a big red/purple scratch on my stomach, he's moving fine in there so I hope he's ok.

Also I'm so annoyed I usually get paid fortnightly on a Monday but receive my wage slip on the Friday before so I just checked my emails and my SMP isn't on there! It was due to start from the 8th August and Monday was my first pay day since then. Worse thing is they close at 5pm and not open on weekends so now I have to wait until Monday, I'm so annoyed as I was reliant on that coming in on Monday morning for certain direct debits etc.

1990shopefulftm · 21/08/2020 18:04

@SamK93 is your bank open on saturdays to be able to get the direct debits blocked temporarily?

DressingGown87 · 21/08/2020 18:08

@1990shopefulftm I’ve put 2 in baby’s bag, as that what it states on the hospital page. I have a 2 spare in my Emergancy bag too, if my friend needs to bring it in.

@SamK93 sure he will be ok, I poke her with needles every night and she hates me! Can’t believe they’ve not done it right, have they put through anything. Hopefully you can get it sorted on Monday, but typically it’s a Friday. Hope you can enjoy the weekend without worrying about it too much. I’m 100% certain my boss will mess mine up, come October!

OP posts:
SamK93 · 21/08/2020 18:26

@1990shopefulftm I think they are ill call them tomorrow and see what they say.

@DressingGown87 yeah I'm hoping he's okay in there. I'm actually really irritated I messaged one of the girls who works in the office she said she spoke to someone at head office before she went home who deals with the wages etc to see what was happening and she said they were asking for my due date and to see if my maternity was through them or job centre! How ridiculous! I gave them my mat b form weeks and weeks ago! I've been with the company for two years I was under the impression I'd be getting SMP with them and was never told any different all seemed okay when i handed it and they told me it started the 8th. So annoying when people can't do their job properly honestly.

1990shopefulftm · 21/08/2020 18:31

@DressingGown87 great idea, i ll put some in a different bag that DH can bring in if I need them :)

DressingGown87 · 21/08/2020 18:41

@samk93 That is stupid, especially as it seems you work for a large company with a head office. As far as I am aware they are to pay you and then it is their responsibility to submit a claim to HMRC for the payment. If they wern't going to pay you SMP, they would have had to give you a form once you handed in your MATb1 form. My employer is 96years old, and hates technology and banks etc. He is just so confused as he pays us on a Standing Order. He formally writes a letter to the bank to do this, and has already said with my wage going to be varied from my salary, on different months, he doesn't know how he will change / keep up. He won't do anything online.

@1990shopefulftm I just thought if i don't use them all I can either donate them to the hospital (If i change milk for any reason) or use them for out and about at home. There is a think on the hospital website saying your not allowed phone chargers, only battery operated. Do you think this is right?

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 21/08/2020 18:52

@DressingGown87 yes that's what I ve understood about chargers unfortunately.
I m ordering pretty high capacity battery packs so we can both get another full charge into our phones from them but not sure what would happen if that wasn't enough and I wasn't going to take a hairdryer or anything like that.

EmmaA96 · 21/08/2020 19:52

Hi ladies, just caught up! I’ve been so absent on this thread! We’ve literally had the whole house upside down to decorate, babies furniture came last week just a shelf and picture frames to put up & it’s done. New couch arrived it’s bliss especially as I’m finding it impossible to get comfy anywhere!!

Went in for my 30 wk app on Wednesday and have section date for 1/10 - can’t believe it’s so soon! Still doesn’t feel real.. 2 more babies what will I do with them!🙈🙈

I’ve arranged a little baby shower for close family and then my biggest baby starts preschool nursery all in the next few weeks so I’ll be a big hormonal mess 😢

On another note has anyone had eyelash extensions done while pregnant? I haven’t had them done since prelockdown, really want to have a mini pamper but worried I won’t be able to lie down for that amount of time!!

Mc3209 · 21/08/2020 21:34

@DressingGown87 @1990shopefulftm and @SamK93 thank you, you made me feel a lot better. I am starting to cool down now..

@SamK93 that is so frustrating about SMP. Hopefully your bank is able to sort out those direct debits before Monday, and the HR iron out their mess quickly.

@EmmaA96 that's so exciting, with having a date booked in and all! Never had lash extensions, so I am no help there I am afraid. I did get a cut and colour recently which took 3 and a half hours (went from brunette to blonde) and I didn't enjoy the experience as much as I normally do. Was too hot, dizzy, and uncomfortable sitting for so long.

SamK93 · 22/08/2020 11:46

Thank you for your advice @DressingGown87 can't believe your employer is 96 bless him I wouldn't blame him not using technology lol but he kind of should as that's what everything goes through these days.

@Mc3209 thank you and I'm glad your feeling better. Have you found any prams you like?

@EmmaA96 I can't believe how soon your date is! I'm not even due until the 30th October right at the end lol. I wanted to get my lashes done too as I haven't had them done pre covid, I did my own research online about it during pregnancy, basically if you speak to your lash technician and tell her your pregnant, they will free up a bit more time than a usual appointment and we can ask if we they do one eye at a time and if we can lay on our sides instead of on our back for each eye, because it's quite a long time to be laying on our backs. I found some useful things online if you have a look, let me know how you get on x

FirstSurprise001 · 22/08/2020 16:39

I don’t know about you ladies but I think I’ve finally just got sick of food. I appreciate this is not a massive deal but as someone that’s always hungry and can always manage an extra treat or snack, this last week I’m just so fed up. I saw the midwife on Friday and she mentioned (without me saying anything) that my belly definitely felt full and squashed compactly. I’m still trying to eat 3 meals a day but I could probably go all day on just water. There’s no other way to describe it than just feeling SO full all the time. My heartburn is out of control too so it’s putting me off even more.

Tell me I’m not the only one because I love my food 😭😂

krissy12 · 22/08/2020 17:33

@FirstSurprise001 I've been struggling with food aswell I don't feel like I've gone off food but dont feel as hungry. I'm tending to snack rather than have meals.

also ladies is anyone planning on getting a group strep b test? I know we have to get them privately and I dont mind paying for it but I really dont fancy doing the swabs for it although I have heard lots of people recommend you do it ?

SamK93 · 22/08/2020 17:45

Ladies I want your genuine opinions... what do you all think regarding partners watching porn?
I don't know who else to speak to about it to be honest. I don't want to make a whole new thread about it and have others voice their opinions I'd rather ask you ladies. We've been married 9 years and always had good sex, 4-5 times a week at least sometimes more. I've always dressed up for him, fulfilled his fantasies and never said no, even when I'm tired. I've tried my best during pregnancy too I'm not always up for it but I do it because I know we both have needs. For the past couple of months we've been doing it nearly every night, missing a night here and there. Last year I found he had been watching it on his phone, I confronted him he said it's a bad habit he's trying to let go of and its not that I don't satisfy him. I got over it. Today, I went on his phone opened up safari and there were multiple porn tabs open. I'm just feeling a bit deflated and disappointed. For the last few weeks we've been doing it all the time, bar a few days. So what the hell?! Like I literally force myself to sit downstairs with him at night sometimes I always like to make sure he's happy, he literally has it on a plate whenever he wants. I dress up in nice lingerie for him, I do the things he likes etc. Kids were obviously around so I didn't want to make a big deal of it today I called him upstairs and he said the same thing again, he said I'm really sorry it's just a bad habit blah blah and he had to go to work. I didn't expect to feel so upset but I do!! I don't even want to look at him right now.

DressingGown87 · 22/08/2020 17:45

@1990shopefulftm thanks!! I have quite a good battery pack which I will take. But might order a spare, and some plug in earphones not my AirPods.

@EmmaA96 hey! Glad your nearly at the finish line, it’s so much better and a relief when it’s done. I was going to have mine done, but we are in local lockdown, so can’t / not doing, until after she is born now. I’m sure they might be able to prop you up slightly, or give you a few breaks to move. I’m also start of October (8th) for induction, seems so close 🙈

@SamK93 I know I would have retired long before then! Hope you managed to get sorted.

@mc3209 hope your feeling a bit more calm today, And have spoke to DP about the travel system.

@FirstSurprise001 I had a bacon butty this morning and since then I just feel full and have no appetite. I’m fed up of eating, cooking, washing up after. I didn’t know if it was lockdown, being at home, or pregnancy, so your not alone. Hope your appetite comes back soon. Have you got certain foods you love which might help?

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 22/08/2020 17:56

@SamK93 I wouldn't have a particular issue with porn by itself but and this might be too honest so please forgive me if I am, you should be able to say no without any guilt if you aren't feeling up to it when you re tired or for any other reason especially so when you re pregnant.

DressingGown87 · 22/08/2020 18:13

@SamK93 I think if he is honest and open that he is watching it on occasions, then I wouldn’t have a problem with (mild) use. Especially if that took some pressure of me being, whilst pregnant. But it seems like its being hidden, and he won’t speak openly about it, and your doing everything you can to please him, so no wonder your frustrated.

OP posts:
SamK93 · 22/08/2020 18:20

@1990shopefulftm I don't mind you being honest, I asked for your opinions so i don't mind. I know where your coming from, I can say no, I just choose not to sometimes when maybe I should because i go through all this effort but he still finds the time to watch it anyway.

@DressingGown87 thank you for understanding, it just makes me feel rubbish that maybe I'm not satisfying him that he needs to use it. When I found out last time he said it's because he doesn't want to disturb me at night sometimes as I used to work early mornings. Now what's his excuse? Just not a nice feeling especially when I go out my way for him.
