@Clara9 ahh really? I went into the one in Winchester as it was a quick book as I was getting cramping

EmzG20 · 09/08/2020 08:13

Morning all. How are we all feeling today. I've been away for a few days so haven't been keeping up with the thread as much.
I've got my midwife appointment on Tuesday and a private scan on Saturday I'll be 8 weeks, not sure how much
I'll be able to see but needed one for my piece of mind and hubby can come as well x

Taylortyler · 09/08/2020 08:41

@EmzG20 I have a private scan booked for next Saturday too, I should be 9 weeks but I'm scared they're going to say I'm 6 weeks 3 days or something and then I effectively have to count down the next 3 weeks again!

aureliacecilia · 09/08/2020 09:05

@chloxhunt Hi Chloe. Lovely scan photo. Congratulations. Just checking you know it says your name, age and hospital area on there. If you didn't intend to share this info then MNHQ will be able to help if you report the post.

NoGinNotComingIn · 09/08/2020 09:08

@EmzG20 I had a scan at exactly 8 weeks (3 weeks ago now), I was quite surprised how clear it was, the image here isn’t that great compared to what we saw on the huge screen but it does look more like a baby than a blob! Mine was an abdominal one too. I hope I’ve posted the one with my name chopped off 🙈!

@NoGinNotComingIn ah thank you that's a great photo. I'll be 8+4 going on my lmp.
Excited but nervous at the same time due to having a miscarriage in February. Hoping this will settle my worries down a little

EmzG20 · 09/08/2020 09:29

@Taylortyler I feel exactly the same. fingers crossed all goes well for you x

Phie04 · 09/08/2020 09:32

Does pregnancy affect how much you get bitten? I feel like ive been eaten alive. I currently have 15 bites that I know of all over me

bibs124 · 09/08/2020 09:45

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I did join on the first version of this thread. Due 29th March. My symptoms seemed to be getting progressively worse and then I had a really bad day on Monday and Tuesday was also not great however since then I've not had many symptoms and I'm panicking myself that I've lost the baby Sad. Has anyone else had this and then had a positive scan result? I'm questioning how early I should book a private scan, was intending to go in sept at 10 weeks but if I have no more symptoms not sure I'll be able to wait that long Sad

NoGinNotComingIn · 09/08/2020 10:10

@EmzG20 I had a miscarriage in May so the only reason I booked a scan was to try and stop me being paranoid. It did help, I must say.

I thought morning sickness left me for good at 8 weeks (I feel sick 24/7 but never actually sick when I have it). Then yesterday at nearly 11 weeks it decides to make a return WHAT?! Feels like I did 20 shots the night before, it’s that horrid hungover feeling, except it doesn’t go and I didn’t have a great night out last night 😆.

NoGinNotComingIn · 09/08/2020 10:16

@bibs124, why are you waiting for 10 weeks? Surely if you wait that long you may as well just wait for 12 weeks? I chose to have a scan at 8 weeks as by that point there should be a heartbeat, if there isn’t one by then (and your dates are correct) then you know it’s not stuck. Of course you can still miscarry just after a scan with a heartbeat, but then again that can technically happen at any point you are pregnant, the chances are just higher less than 12 weeks.

bibs124 · 09/08/2020 10:47

@NoGinNotComingIn I'm waiting until 10 weeks because my partner can't come to the 12 week scan, aren't allowed to film it either in our area so want it to be a likely chance that he will see something similar to what you would at 12 weeks

Babafarmer · 09/08/2020 10:57

@bibs124 I have a scan on Saturday I'll be 9+6. I wanted to leave it close to 12 weeks so he'll get to see similar and also the risk drops significantly after seeing a heartbeat at 10 weeks. If there is bad news I'd rather find out together than be at the 12 scan alone. I also have my 12 week scan date for 12+5 they couldn't do it sooner so I still pretty much have 3 weeks between to wait. Xx

bibs124 · 09/08/2020 11:01

@Babafarmer yeah that's the same as us.. maybe I will wait until 10 weeks then and just hope for the best. Good luck at your scan Smile

Babafarmer · 09/08/2020 11:05

Thank you @bibs124 I just wish the days were passing a bit faster. I won't be saying that after 12 weeks but I would just like to get to that milestone.
Everyone is different and we all have our own reasons when and if we have a private scan. This was the best timing for us. I have many times got impatient and I wanted to bring it closer but then I'd end up wanting another x

NoGinNotComingIn · 09/08/2020 11:24

@bibs124 ahh gotcha, I just thought it was strange having 2 so close together. You can still get a print out of the 12 week one so he gets to see it. I understand it’s rubbish if it’s your first baby though.

bobloblawlawblog · 09/08/2020 11:29

Anyone who's been given promethezine for nausea, did it work great the first couple of days and then stop working? Am feeling sick as a dog today and tablets not shifting it

KO2018 · 09/08/2020 11:52

Hi @bobloblawlawblog I took promethazine in week seven - one the first night and two the second. First day I felt better for the first time but second day I felt horrible again. Now I’m week 8 and I feel much better and on no meds at all.

So maybe it won’t last the whole trimester for you too. My GP said to keep ringing back if gets worse as there’s about five more they can try out.

(Now I get to worry about a loss of symptoms)

Sussexbysea · 09/08/2020 12:46

Hey everyone!

How is everyone doing in this heat? I’m hot, so so hot! Bikini on, fan, indoors and lots of water!! It’s really helping with my sickness too.

Consultant has put me on aspirin until baby is here because of a thyroid issue.

Hi everyone,
I’ve just signed up so I could post on this thread, I’m a long time lurker Blush
I’m around 7 weeks pregnant with a much longed for first baby and would love to have some other people to talk to. As much as he tries my husband doesn’t get it yet and it was so long ago for my mum that she can’t remember all the morning sickness etc!
To be honest I really didn’t appreciate how hard these first few weeks would be. The anxiety is bad enough but I also feel like I’m constantly hungover but without the fun memories Grin
I had a bleed coupled with horrendous cramps this week so had to argue my way to getting an early scan. I was utterly convinced that I had lost the baby so seeing a little heartbeat on the screen was the best feeling ever.
I’m also under a lot of stress as I got pregnant just after starting a new job and I know they will be furious. There will be lots of baggy clothes when I’m back in the office.
If there is a Facebook group I’d be grateful for an add please Smile

Thack · 09/08/2020 13:24

Hi all,
I'm 6+5 on first baby. Was blessed (and a little shocked) to fall pregnant quickly.
I'm new to mums net, so please excuse me if I don't follow the acronyms!
Luckily no sickness yet but I think my sense of smell has picked up. Had a booking appt. by phone and have a blood test week after next. I'm hoping the hospital will allow hubby to come along by the time I go for a scan- it was a little heartbreaking to hear that atm he's not able.
I did the test nearly 3 weeks ago but it really hasn't sunk in yet!
Lovely to meet you all, wishing everyone a healthy start x

Clara9 · 09/08/2020 13:24

Welcome to the group @YorkshireGirl35. It’s nice to have people to chat to who can relate to what you’re going through! Feeling the same way- always a little nauseous and tried!

Phie04 · 09/08/2020 14:24

This thread is going to run out soon shall I make a new one? How do I take you all

MsK2be89 · 09/08/2020 15:21

Hey welcome to the group @YorkshireGirl35 and @Thack xx

bibs124 · 09/08/2020 16:12

@Sussexbysea I have an underactive thyroid and have been referred to endo at the hospital, got to have lots of blood tests and medication monitored. Not been prescribed aspirin though - do you know what it's meant to help? Don't want to be not taking it if I should be!
