@chloxhunt just having the date felt like a huge milestone for me. When is yours? How far long will you be?

@BabySweet85 mine was by telephone too. The midwife dropped off my notes at my house and I had to take myself to the hospital to get my bloods done x

@Sussexbysea I haven't been told yet but I've worked out that it'll be due I think 23rd of March but I'll wait of course for the midwife to tell me, but where I go to see my midwife they don't do scans there so it's kinda harder, I've got my first midwife appointment on Wednesday as she's trying to hurry me as I'm a high risk due to having a heart condition

Sussexbysea · 07/08/2020 18:41

@chloxhunt that’s good then. At least they are making you a priority.

I’m under a consultant and midwife for this pregnancy, I felt a bit overwhelmed at first but now I realise it’s all for the better

I've got a telephone booking appointment arranged for when I'm 9 weeks. Only a couple of weeks to go and then maybe three weeks after that until my scan. Should break things up nicely.

chloxhunt · 07/08/2020 19:13

@Sussexbysea it's better to always be checked on than not checked on enough though

NoGinNotComingIn · 07/08/2020 21:31

I’m nearly 11 weeks (due 1st March), I had my booking appointment at just over 9 weeks on the phone and then just had to nip in for blood taken today, got my 12 weeks scan in just over a week. I miscarried at 7 weeks in May, luckily I hadn’t told anyone bar the same couple of friends so I didn’t have to go around telling people.

I had a scan at 8 weeks and all was good, so hopefully things are fine this time. I was a bit shocked when I miscarried as we have 2 children already and it was a breeze, I was almost blasé when I fell pregnant 2 weeks after trying! Brought me right back down to reality!! I’ve finally stopped feeling totally paranoid, the 8 week scan helped. I stopped feeling sick quite abruptly before 8 weeks this time which was a sign that I didn’t pay much attention to when I miscarried so I was holding my breath a little at the scan. All was fine and I’m just happy I don’t feel sick 24/7 now! It’s a horrid feeling!

JTB123 · 07/08/2020 21:53

I got a phone call from my midwife this afternoon who said my booking appointment on Monday is no longer over the phone and I can go in! White glad about that

Dreamcatcher007 · 07/08/2020 22:03

@NoGinNotComingIn I’m due a couple of days after you on the 4th, by my calculations Smile Well done for having your booking appointment early, I haven’t had mine yet, and haven’t had any private scans, so I’m terrified and can’t wait for my 12w scan which still feels aaaages away.

Is it standard at your trust to have blood test separately from the scan, or did the midwife decide you need them more urgently? I think my hospital is doing blood test together with the scan...

NoGinNotComingIn · 07/08/2020 23:29

@dreamcatcher007 I didn't have the booking appointment early in fact it's the latest I've ever had one. I only rang the doctors after I'd had a scan, well nearly a week later but because I was 9 weeks it was booked for the day after. I think I had them at around 7/8 weeks with my other children.

Normally (pre-covid) you have blood taken at the booking appointment ~8 weeks then you have your 12 week scan (no blood taken), then a couple of weeks or so later another blood test for downs etc (if you accept it, it's optional). Now with covid where I live they do booking appointment over the phone and then you just nip in for a blood test so you aren't in there for an hour as you normally would be at the appointment. Then I'll have my 12 week scan and blood will be taken but it's for the downs etc screening test, I won't have to go back for this done separately as I did before. I think different areas are following different protocol. My 16 week appointment is in person too, I think some people are having these over the phone too.

I didn't bother with early scans for my other children and wouldn't have bothered this time had I not miscarried. It was reassuring, but not technically necessary, it was nice my husband could come in, he won't be allowed in at the 12 week one, there's no chance as I'm in greater Manchester.

Dreamcatcher007 · 08/08/2020 06:32

@NoGinNotComingIn Ah thank you - yes it was exactly as you described with my first one - I wonder how they do it at my hospital now. I’ll find out next week! Really worried that I have sort of vitamin deficiency or whatever which can hurt that foetus as I’ve been feeling so crap 😬🤞

NoGinNotComingIn · 08/08/2020 08:12

If you have a vitamin deficiency your baby takes when it needs first, like a leech 😆 and it'd be you left deficient not the baby. If you eat a normal diet though I doubt you are deficient, I always suffer from exhaustion from about 5-10 weeks pregnant when all the important organs etc are forming. I've had to take long afternoon naps or go to bed at 6pm (before my 4 and 3 year old!!). It's hard work baking a baby!

Dreamcatcher007 · 08/08/2020 08:29

@NoGinNotComingIn Very true! Smile 👍

Loc34 · 08/08/2020 08:57

Hi, I self referred the monday after I found out, I got all my early bird info sent about blood tests scans etc in the post and I'm due to have my 8 week booking in appointment over the phone next week due to covid also my 16 week app will be over the phone, I've had some stretchy type pains so I think that's all normal for now, also sorry for the TMI but I've had lots of wind which I think is part of the pains haha

Sussexbysea · 08/08/2020 10:45

Today is the first day that I don’t feel bloated. Such a huge relief, I was struggling to bend over.

OP posts:
DSP21 · 08/08/2020 10:45

So i had some spotting at 6 weeks, epu didn't bother with a scan and told me to
Monitor it. It went away after a few days at which point I had a private early scan that detected a sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. I'm now 7 weeks and spotting again and just so fed up with the anxiety :(

Sussexbysea · 08/08/2020 11:14

@DSP21 do you have another scan booked in?

OP posts:
Oldermum80 · 08/08/2020 11:15

@DSP21 have the EPU given you a date for a follow up scan? Sorry if you already said, my memory is rubbish and I struggle to keep up on here.
The anxiety is awful because you are in limbo, not knowing one way or another.
Could you ring the EPU and tell them it’s started again? They might scan you.

KatyCherry23 · 08/08/2020 11:18

@DSP21let me know what happens. The epu wouldn't scan me either even though I had bleeding and cramps. I'm 7 weeks today and just started bleeding again, I've got a scan on Monday, I was positive but now I'm bricking it.

DSP21 · 08/08/2020 11:19

@Oldermum80 @Sussexbysea As my original scan was private they said i could pay for another in 2 weeks or ring the epu and get one through them. We have a load of family over today so I just need to get through the day and then I'll try the epu tomorrow and hope I don't get fobbed off again

DSP21 · 08/08/2020 11:20

@KatyCherry23 keep me posted with your scan too! Did you get a scan through the epu or privately?

Clara9 · 08/08/2020 11:25

@Sussexbysea and @Loc34 same here with the bloating- glad it’s settled down now. I’ve had some stretchy pains too. Apparently it’s normal.

@DSP21 sorry to hear you’re going through this. Fingers crossed it was just too early to see anything just yet.

Sussexbysea · 08/08/2020 11:26

@DSP21 from what others have said on here, getting scanned on a weekend is difficult. They may ask you to wait a while

OP posts:
KatyCherry23 · 08/08/2020 11:32

I've gone private for Monday because they wouldn't see me. I can't afford more than 1 private though this month so it will have to be epu if they find something bad on Monday.

Sussexbysea · 08/08/2020 11:45

@Clara9 they call it round ligament pain. It’s just everything stretching ready for 2nd trimester. It’s super common and it’s a risk to you or baby.
