@Sussexbysea me too- i have spent the day working from the sofa practically lying down because I have felt sick all day, regardless of what I eat or don't eat, really hope this feeling isn't going to hang around!

Sussexbysea · 06/08/2020 15:16

@Taylortyler I’m really struggling today

Taylortyler · 06/08/2020 15:23

@Sussexbysea I would love to not have to work while having children- I'd like to chill during the pregnancy and then have a nice relaxing maternity leave, before going back to work when I feel well again!

LottieX · 06/08/2020 15:43

@Sussexbysea I was really annoyed that someone booked a meeting during my 30 min break between meetings this afternoon, ruined my nap time 🤣 The struggle is real!

Oldermum80 · 06/08/2020 15:43

Have only eaten two crumpets with a cup of tea then felt hot and that I needed to vomit. My secret is now out as my 15 year old guessed.
Asked for this but telling myself it might not be related to PG with feeling hot.

ValidUser · 06/08/2020 15:44

I'm exhausted too! I work 1.5 hours from home, and I work from home sometimes, but the drive is seriously hard.

@Taylortyler I have a 3 year old and I think the difference in maternity leave between hers and this one is going to be huge. No more sitting with my feet up watching Netflix all day, napping when I want etc.

My DS is also 3 for a few more days but he is summer-born and starting reception in September. He should be in school between 9 and 3 while I'm on maternity leave. He will probably carry on going to after school care a few days a week too so he can carry on seeing his friends there and keep his spot open for when I return to work. I found the initial few months of motherhood very hard, probably had undiagnosed postnatal depression and anxiety after a traumatic birth, and we've waited until he will be in school to make life as easy as possible for me with a newborn... I hope this means Netflix and coffee and cake dates. I just hope COVID19 doesn't ruin things for all of us - he loved preschool and I think he will do well in reception. Are you going to keep your daughter in nursery (assuming she goes now) or take advantage of 30 hours?

Taylortyler · 06/08/2020 16:37

@Sussexbysea I hadn't thought of that when it's your second or more, if we have any other children after this one I won't get any rest Shock
Is it weird that I'm a bit jealous because I know 4 other people having babies and they're all having them in December but I have to wait until March... Bit ridiculous really, I'm blaming the hormones for making me weird!
@JTB123 @DSP21 @Oldermum80 aww I’m relieved to hear I’m not on my own. I’m sure give it a couple of weeks and we’ll be feeling completely different!!
@BatKat @JTB123 @DSP21 @Oldermum80 please can I join your ‘anxiously awaiting symptoms’ pregnant ladies group? I’m 6+4 today and haven’t had sore/growing boobs or morning sickness. In the past couple of days I’ve had a slightly queasy feeling that comes and goes but hasn’t affected mealtimes, so wondering if it’s all in my head! I had cramping around 4 weeks which has eased off apart from the odd twinge. I needed to pee every ten minutes for a day or two at around 4+4 but that has eased off too. The only other things are I’m wiped out most of the time, I have gone off coffee (my usual lifeline each morning) and I’ve gone drastically off foods I was happily eating just last week (corned beef and hummus - not together though!). I am a cheese lover and would love to go off cheese a little because it’s not the healthiest, but it seems I’m craving that even more at the moment! Excellent.

I’m small in the booby department, so am quite looking forward to them growing a bit!

I’m sure I’ll be whingeing that the sickness is too much in a couple of weeks but without that I still don’t trust that it’s all really happening at the moment xxx

Oldermum80 · 06/08/2020 17:12

@Mrs1989 I could have written your post. Aside from being sick earlier, I’ve only have the queasy feeling but think I’m imagining it. I didn’t think I had any aversions but generally no food seems appetising at the minute. I just seem to want carbs although I do keep thinking of McDonald’s.
I keep thinking my boobs have grown then I think actually they look the same.

Maybe I’m trying to protect myself in case it is bad news again as I talk myself out of every possible symptom I could be having and think it’s all in my head.

JTB123 · 06/08/2020 17:16

@Mrs1989 I'm also in the Itty bitty titty committee so I'm mega excited for my free 9 month boob job 👌🏼🤣 I've noticed the tiniest increase in size and nipple size I'm at 6+5 right now!

But still my only symptom, they're not reallllly that sore anymore either which is worrying but are slightly so I'm not overly bothered right now
Xx

EmMissingnormalfood · 06/08/2020 17:30

Hi all,
Hoping I can join this group.
I’ve been nervous about admitting the pregnancy yet but find I need contact with others going through this.
This is our first and due 13 March but if I look at conception it will probably be a couple of weeks later.
I’m really sad my OH can’t be at the scan now, especially for the first. We’re worried he won’t bond as much.
I feel everyone’s pain with the nausea. It was terrible a couple of weeks back but one of my mummy friends suggested ritz crackers by the bed to have first thing in the morning. It’s the only thing getting me through now.
For those worrying about not having symptoms, my mum was quick to point out to me that she didn’t have any nausea, she was perfectly fine! Grin As was my sister I think.
Not helpful when I can’t keep down food and worrying about nutrition for baby.

Looking forward to going through this journey with you all.

Mrs1989 · 06/08/2020 17:39

@Oldermum80 I am craving carbs much more than anything else at the moment! I’m still eating my fairly healthy special k type cereal with berries for breakfast but for lunch I just want bread and cheese, crackers and cheese, or macaroni cheese (the slop you get in a tin). I am forcing myself to eat healthier things alongside these like carrot sticks, grapes, bananas and oranges! I also keep getting really hungry just before bed, but I have been just having plain crackers to fill the gap (don’t need more flipping cheese!). With my queasy feeling, it comes and goes so quickly and then I feel so hungry!

I had a miscarriage back in Jan (it was my first pregnancy) so I get what you mean about protecting yourself. It’s very hard at the moment, I’m just wishing the weeks away. I’m thinking of getting a private early scan but trying to hold out until 9-9.5 weeks.

@JTB123 “itty bitty titty committee” and “free 9 month boob job” made me howl! It would be so surreal for my diddy mosquito bites to swell up! I don’t really even need proper support and wear bandeau bras a lot of the time. They’ll be no good 😂

aureliacecilia · 06/08/2020 17:52

@Oldermum80 I've just lived off beige food today!

Mrs1989 · 06/08/2020 17:54

@EmMissingnormalfood welcome to the group and congratulations on your pregnancy Smile That’s how I felt a few weeks ago, not wanting to tell people I’m pregnant but desperate for contact with other ladies in the same situation.

Thanks for telling us about your mum - good to know that lack of symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean all is not well. Thanks also for the Ritz crackers tip - I’ll be sure to have some ready for when the sickness might pounce!

It is a real shame that many of us will have partners missing out on scans. My first NHS scan is likely to be mid-September and not sure things will be different, but I know my hospital is currently not allowing partners at scans. I may go for a private scan later this month so we can have that experience, and also because I want reassurance before 12+ weeks! For finding out the sex, I’ve heard that they are writing it down on a piece of paper and putting it in an envelope so partners can open it after and find out together, which I think is lovely. This will be our first baby too, so I’m telling myself that as we can’t compare it to previous pregnancies we won’t feel so much that we’re missing out. I’m also focusing on the fact that we’ll be due end of March and hopefully things will have moved much further on with a vaccine and hopefully Covid-19 will not cloud as much time that we have with our babies in the first year xxx

Loc34 · 06/08/2020 17:57

Hi everyone, got my positive 01/08, according to my LMP (if I got my dates right!) I'm due March 27th. This will be my 3 rd child, I have a 14 and 7 year old so big age gaps. My symptoms are mainly headaches, extremely sore boobs like after birth, and either gas/ligament pains. I'm in two minds whether to book an early private scan, just because I'm not 100 percent on my LMP (maybe few days apart) I dont know if it's because I'm older this time or just because we have been trying again for 2 years and this is our first positive test I'm really anxious, hope everyone is well

Clara9 · 06/08/2020 17:59

Couldn’t wait and got a scan today. All as it should be. So happy!

Loc34 · 06/08/2020 18:03

Can I ask when you are due and where your dates correct based on your lmp? I'm really contemplating and early private scan, glad all is well Smile

EmMissingnormalfood · 06/08/2020 18:10

@Mrs1989
That’s a good way to look at it.
I never thought of that.

I am tempted by a private scan. Can we take partners in to private scans?

My sickness is back to bad today. I’ve gone off water!

I’m appreciating everyone’s cravings. My baby is definitely my OH’s, all baby wants is savoury food and cheese! I’m a sweet person. At least baby seems to like fruit though.

Is anyone exercising in the first trimester?

Mrs1989 · 06/08/2020 18:42

@EmMissingnormalfood from what people have been saying on this thread, it seems partners are allowed at private scans. The website of my local one seems to suggest this also, but I might ring and double-check before booking anything.

Sorry your sickness is really affecting you and that you have gone off water! I can’t stop drinking it at the minute - feeling thirsty all the time! I’m quite a sweet person too, but I just want all the cheese at the moment! I’m ok eating fruit too, it doesn’t make me ill at all at the moment, but I fancy cheese more!

With exercising, I’ve read so much about it and I know it’s absolutely fine and women exercise well into their pregnancies. Here is some NHS info on it - www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pregnancy-exercise/

I was doing aerobics earlier this year and I walked briskly to work every day but probably should have been doing more than that. I had a miscarriage in Jan and that plus lockdown really hit me, and I became quite depressed and less active. I have been going on long-ish walks with DH every day but know I should be doing more. The miscarriage really shook me up though and it’s made me panicky about doing anything really physical, although I know, based on the NHS info, I should not be panicking at all about that. I am going to try to find some pregnancy workouts on YouTube and get back into it, as NHS info suggests that being active helps us to cope with late pregnancy and labour!

juliesmith1988 · 06/08/2020 18:49
