@bobloblawlawblog and others choosing names, I LOVE the site names.darkgreener.com which shows you if a name is trending up or down - with DS I kept thinking ‘oh x name would be unusual but cool’ then finding it had shot up the charts in the last few years 😂

bumblingalonghappily · 04/08/2020 22:02

I think this may have been asked already- but have any other teachers on here told their heads that they're pregnant? I'm secondary, and the thought of being in a non ventilated classroom with up to 150 different unmasked teenagers a day is a bit worrying to me... and stupidly only just occurred to me that they may ask me to work from home? Am now thinking I should let them know ASAP so I can find what their risk assessment is for pregnant staff, but no idea how to phrase it all in an email- I told them last time in person!

bobloblawlawblog · 04/08/2020 22:09

Ooo Blenheim that website is brilliant!

The boy name I'm loving (Apollo) is up from 0 to 1325. I don't think I need to worry too much on popularity stakes.

Girl wise i have loads, just looked a few up and still in the 600s or so ( I like Celeste today)

Boys top contenders- Apollo, Atlas, Lucien, Valentine

Girls top contenders- Celeste, Camille, Frida, Sabrina, Coco, Pearl

And Winter for middle name either sex

Porcupette · 04/08/2020 22:27

Thanks @BlenheimOrange that looks great!

@bumblingalonghappily I haven’t told school yet, want to wait until after my 12 week scan. Not convinced WFH will be an option though - we don’t need to shield and I can’t really figure out the logistics. If the kids are in and we teach remotely, surely they still need staff supervision, so the school would then have twice as many teachers running a lesson, which is not at all efficient? Could be wrong though and will depend on schools and individual timetables I’m sure.

bumblingalonghappily · 04/08/2020 22:40

@Porcupette thanks for replying. Yes logistically would be very difficult. Have read some things from RCOG that suggest pregnant people should work from home from 28 weeks though, which is Christmas. Feel bad for causing an extra problem, and for my exam classes.

What provisions does your school have in place to protect staff? I'm going to be in a room where the windows don't open properly/or stay open for more than a few minutes and have to keep the door shut for fire safety. The kids all come to me as I teach a practical subject. I'm desperate to get back to work, but can't help but feel like a human target!

ChilternsHan · 04/08/2020 22:57

@BlenheimOrange that site is fun! Can see myself losing some time to it.

Clara9 · 05/08/2020 07:36

Dr Google isn’t my friend this morning. Have my scan on Sunday and am so worried about it. Can’t stop thinking that something will go wrong.

2020wish · 05/08/2020 07:48

@Clara9 I have mine tomorrow and feel the same!

MsK2be89 · 05/08/2020 08:15

@Clara9 @2020wish I hope they go well for you... if they are your 6 week scan, just a heads up they may need to do an internal. I had no idea that could happen and was totally not prepared! It didn’t feel any different to a smear test though and was so interesting seeing the sac on screen

2020wish · 05/08/2020 08:17

@MsK2be89 yes I’m fully expecting an internal lol had one with my daughter and with my mc lol but thank u for the heads up x

Sussexbysea · 05/08/2020 08:35

Morning everyone!
Just had a call from the hospital asking me to go in for a scan as I have an obstetrics appointment coming up in a few days.

I am so nervous. My mouth keeps filling up with water and I feel like I’m shaking. Please keep everything crossed for me xx

I have my first midwife appointment today. It’s face to face and I’m hoping I get my scan date. So far I’ve resisted booking a private scan. I’m a bit worried today as I’ve had a really sore shoulder since yesterday afternoon. Google has me frightened it is a sign of an ectopic.

c24680 · 05/08/2020 08:49

@Sussexbysea good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine.

I've got a private scan booked for later this afternoon, google has also scared me and I can't wait until 12-14 weeks!

DSP21 · 05/08/2020 08:58

@Sussexbysea good luck lovely!! Keeping my fx for you

Clara9 · 05/08/2020 09:08

@2020wish hope everything goes well. I don’t really have a reason to think that something is wrong, but just anxious and overthinking.

@MsK2be89 yes expecting an internal- am sure it’s not a lot of fun, but not really fussed about that bit.

ChilternsHan · 05/08/2020 09:47

@Sparkles715 my shoulders have been killing me, I actually think it might be because my bras aren't fitting me properly any more given the increase in boobs! I've had my scan and everything was in the right place.

Good luck with your appointment!

Sussexbysea · 05/08/2020 09:49

I’m 8+3 so I’m guessing it’ll be an external scan?

OP posts:
Phie04 · 05/08/2020 10:11

@Sussexbysea mine measured at 6+6 and was done on my belly you should be fine

Sussexbysea · 05/08/2020 10:41

Thanks @Phie04

How you doing?xx

BabySweet85 · 05/08/2020 10:44

@bumblingalonghappily I am secondary. I have exactly the same concerns - I will be teaching 150 unmasked teenagers everyday in poorly ventilated rooms. I told my headteacher and HR gave me a risk assessment. The risk assessment is no different for me than any other staff so I haven’t signed it. It even states that I have to break 2m distancing and help every child with their work every lesson. My head is being uncooperative.

BabySweet85 · 05/08/2020 10:45

@Sparkles715 good luck with your appointment. Mention your shoulder but I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about x

EmzG20 · 05/08/2020 10:54

@Sussexbysea hope everything goes well for
You.

How's everyone feeling? I'm 7+2 today and feel so tired today.

aureliacecilia · 05/08/2020 11:13

Good luck to everyone with scans or medical appointments today.

I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and I've gone off coffee! Shock I went off tea in my first pregnancy and could only drink it with a lot of added sugar (I don't normally take sugar) but I don't remember going off coffee. What am I going to drink? I only want to drink orange squash like I'm five years old!

MsK2be89 · 05/08/2020 11:35

@EmzG20 hey! I’m feeling so tired today, despite having 8 hours sleep last night! How are you doing?

Good luck to those with appointments and scans today

Charlotte2020 · 05/08/2020 11:36

@EmzG20 I'm 8+6 today. Nausea seems to have reduced a bit but I'm exhausted by the afternoon! Needed a nap yesterday! My 12 week scan appt came through today for 27/08 so it's starting to all feel much more real!
