Love that there are so many teachers on here! Going into school this week as I’m moving classrooms. Bit nervous about being pregnant and moving around school a lot next year (due to Covid, kids are staying in classrooms and we are moving around)

Taylortyler · 03/08/2020 14:00

You teachers are so lucky you can tell your work! I work in the kind of place that would happen to have a re-shuffle and my job would no longer be required if I tell them I'm pregnant! I'm leaving it as long as possible before I mention it, obvs. Completely illegal but I was 'furloughed' and had to continue working from home too...
But if they don't notice from the amount I'm eating I'll be shocked. I cannot stop snacking today I'm so hungry!

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 14:13

That's dreadful @Taylortyler. I've changed jobs since my first maternity leave but I'm expecting a supportive response, although I think it will be a shock as I think most people assume I'm one and done.

krj2608 · 03/08/2020 14:39

Ah it's crazy how many teachers! I was a reception teacher for years until I had my children. I'm now in charge of safeguarding and training at a preschool! Hope everyone's doing ok!

I'm currently resting due to my fall on Friday. My little ones are behaving. I'm so bored!

ArtemisBean · 03/08/2020 14:58

Bumbling that's amazing news, you must be so relieved! ♥️

I came clean to my parents and sister this week. Only 8 weeks but I knew they'd guess if I didn't say something. My dad's reaction: Was it an accident?! 🤦 Classic. Don't think he can compute how someone would voluntarily have a baby in the current global crisis. But as I told him, life goes on!

KO2018 · 03/08/2020 15:30

@bumblingalonghappily happy to hear this

Clara9 · 03/08/2020 16:16

Brilliant news, @bumblingalonghappily! So happy for you. How was it? Got mine on Sunday and can hardly think about anything else!

BlenheimOrange · 03/08/2020 18:00

Off to collect a prescription for cyclizine for the sickness, last time promethazine was my wonder drug but it’s worse this time and a higher promethazine dose just makes me really drowsy... fingers crossed! All I can say is god willing this is my last first trimester ever, I f*^%ing hate being pregnant 😭

MrsS1984 · 03/08/2020 19:29

Evening all. I had my early scan today and saw a lovely little sac, little blob and flickering heartbeat which was lovely. My dating app put me one week ahead so am only 6+5 so everything was super tiny but she seemed happy with it all. Just the long wait till 12 weeks now. Nausea also fully kicked in and completely off meat!

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 19:30

Thanks so much everyone- it really was such a relief. Know I'm not out of the woods yet, but does feel better, and have a follow up EPU next week as well for more reassurance which is great.

@Clara9 it was fine Smile have you had one before? I had to go by myself as they don't allow children so DH had to look after my son, but that was fine in the end.

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 19:31

Ah I'm so glad @MrsS1984! I was dated at 6+4 at my scan today so we're very close to each other! Do you not think you'll have any more until the dating scan now then?

EmzG20 · 03/08/2020 20:07

Anyone else finding their emotions are all over the place. I've just cried at my other half because he made me spill my drink everywhere and I was enjoying my apple juice and now my laughing about it

Clara9 · 03/08/2020 20:16

Nope! @bumblingalonghappily first pregnancy and first scan. Just counting down the days now.

Clara9 · 03/08/2020 20:20

Did you girls just watch the panorama with Stacey Dooley about pregnancy and Covid?

MsK2be89 · 03/08/2020 20:21

Hello, I’ve just joined this and found this thread. Would love to speak with anyone else who is expecting their first baby & is around my age (30) no idea if you can private message on here, but please message me if it’s a thing! I’ve had a 6 week scan due to bleeding/cramping and I’m back in next week for a 9 week scan. Feeling so nervous & just trying to keep busy til then.... p.s OMG my boobs were already a 38E and they are now even more HUGE! 32 more weeks of this? I’ll be a 38Z soon!!

DSP21 · 03/08/2020 20:30

Hey guys, after having spotting over the weekend and a&e/epu refusing to scan I had a private scan today at 6+2. Sack and yolk detected but no baby, did very little to reassure me.

Anyone else been in the same position?

@MsK2be89 I'm 31 with my first pregnancy too. Welcome!

H108 · 03/08/2020 20:35

This is my first post and I hope this is ok to write this here.

I’m so scared, I am between 5-8 weeks pregnant with my first. Have been on Clomid for the last 5months, last dosage wasn’t 150mg.

I have been told that my lining is thin, my progesterone low. They found a baby sac but not in the womb but at the top of the uterus.

The doctors are not being supportive at all, my fertility doctor might as well not exist as I have been trying to contact him for advice since 22nd July and still not heard from him. Nobody seems to want to help and I don’t know what to do.

I’m experiencing all the symptoms of pregnancy, my stomach has grown 3 inches and My boobs have got better.

They processionals aren’t sure but my friends with children have said to wait it out and stick to my guns.

What would you say I should do? Is there a way to improve the lining, progesterone?

Thank you in advance
H x

FairyLights2 · 03/08/2020 20:42

Welcome @MsK2be89 - I'm 30 and expecting my first baby too =) My boobs are humongous now as well, haha.

@DSP21 I'm so sorry to hear that! Hopefully they just missed it or you're too early. Did they offer you another scan x

Sussexbysea · 03/08/2020 20:49

Tonight, I’ve had this overwhelming feeling that I’m very alone. I’ve got myself in a right state thinking about it 😪

I don’t have many close friends, and even those I class as close aren’t really that close any more. When I had my daughter, I enjoyed it being just us but I really wished I’d have more mum friends by now.

MsK2be89 · 03/08/2020 20:53

Hello, thanks for the welcome!
Would your doctor refer you for an early scan? My doctor is normally not very good, but when I told him my concerns he was great and arranged an early scan for the following day. Maybe in a week or 2 it will be more visible 😃🤞🏼 Xx

Charlotte2020 · 03/08/2020 20:53

@DSP21 I had an early scan at EPU at 5+5 and had a yolk sac but no fetal pole. The sonographer said this was normal! I was a bit worried but she said it varies between women. Hope this helps x

DSP21 · 03/08/2020 21:03

@FairyLights2 As it was private they said I could come back in another couple of weeks and pay for another scan, or try to get one on the NHS by speaking to my gp and exaggerating my symptoms- which I might do in 2 weeks time!

@MsK2be89 As it was private I'll have to speak to my gp separately and see if they will. I'm finding the gp/hospital so unhelpful atm and that my bleeding isn't being taken seriously at all. It's been two weeks since I had to self refer myself and I still haven't heard back from the midwife

@Charlotte2020 that is reassuring! And the more I read online the more common it seems but another 2 week wait is going to be a killer Confused

Taylortyler · 03/08/2020 21:06

@Sussexbysea feeling lonely is a really horrible feeling, and sometimes you can put all your friends and family in the same room with you and still feel like that. Sorry you're not feeling too great and you're not alone. I think early pregnancy is a lonely experience too- you spend so much time keeping a huge secret and worrying without telling anyone. I'm quite lonely because my husband works long hours and has a big group of friends, where I only have a couple of close mates, it's hard to be on your own and social distancing doesn't help! I'm really hoping to make some mum friends when I have the baby, it'd be nice to have friends to share the experience with. Also one of the reasons I joined Mumsnet xx

Nmvasey · 03/08/2020 21:08

@H108 sounds like you're receiving little to no support at all bless you. Have you been scanned? Is that how they've been able tell where the embryo has implanted? Once implantation has occurred it's pretty rare for it to move (yep, I asked that question, they laughed at me) and therefore surely they should be telling you if this is a viable pregnancy or otherwise - hopefully the former. If your fertility doctor isn't helping I'd suggest maybe contacting your GP as they too can refer you to the EPU for support. I had some cycles of IVF and was given progesterone pessaries to support with the lining of the womb but this is generally taken before implantation and then onwards.

Sussexbysea · 03/08/2020 21:16

@Taylortyler thank you for replying.

It’s making me feel crushed, and I don’t know why. I’m a confident person and I like my own space. I wonder if it’s just my hormones playing silly buggers.

I was thinking of doing NCT this time for the supper network but they’d probably think I’m stupid for wanting to do it when I already have a 3 year old.
