Those of you that have had early scans, were they internal or abdominal? Am 7 weeks

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 09:51

Sorry to hear that @bumblingalonghappily. I hope you're alright.

Sorry to hear about those suffering with sickness and nausea too. There are treatments available so I hope they help. I feel a bit funny until I eat breakfast in the morning but otherwise pretty normal. I didn't have morning sickness in my first pregnancy - just the same sort of thing I have now - so I'm not sure if it'll develop or not in the next few weeks (I'm only 6+4 going by my LMP).

Hello 😊

I hope no one minds me joining this thread. I’m pregnant with my first baby and currently around 7 weeks, due March. I’ve had intermittent spotting for the last two weeks. It’s happened again this morning. It’s only been a tiny amount and never lasted more than a day. But this is the third time it’s happened and every time it’s so worrying. I just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same thing? Hope you’re all well!

Clara9 · 03/08/2020 11:24

Welcome @MrsF18. A few of the girls on here have had the same thing so you can talk about it here. Have you spoken to your midwife if you’re worried? I’m nearly 7 weeks too. When’s your due date?

Going into work for the first time since finding out this week. Feeling so weird about it. Going to tell my boss if my scan on Sunday goes ok.

Clara9 · 03/08/2020 11:25

Tried a trick I found online- eating something with lots of fibre just before bed. Feeling much better today, so hope it keeps working!

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 11:31

Good tip thanks @Clara9 !

Welcome @MrsF18 I'm 7 weeks too! Also had spotting here- I was just a bit worried as it didn't happen with my first pregnancy so I rang my GP who referred me to the EPU. I'm sure it will be fine but if you're at all worried then give them a ring.

@bobloblawlawblog My early scans have also been internal. They usually start abdominally (I suppose on the offchance that you're much further along than you thought) but then usually tell you to go and empty your bladder and come back so they can do an internal one. I've also found them fine though. I found my one in my first pregnancy a bit awkward but with this one the memory of having my bits on display during labour is still fresh in my mind so last week I practically whipped my jeans off before she even asked me to!

MrsF18 · 03/08/2020 11:31

@Clara9 thank you so much, it’s just such a worrying time isn’t it! I have spoken to my midwife and they’ve been fantastic. I’ve had all the tests done for infection etc which came back clear. And a blood test which showed high hcg levels so that was all good. Then I had an early scan, which they thought I was a week less along than I thought but everything looked absolutely fine and there was a heartbeat. So that really put my mind at ease, but now I’ve had that spotting again. Which seems to have eased already, but it just worries me every time! According to my LMP my due date is the 18th of March. Which is also my husbands birthday!

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 11:33

Don't know why always kept on autocorrecting to also. I've ALWAYS had internal scans early on, is what it should have said.

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 11:34

That's great to hear there was a heartbeat @MrsF18 ! Can I ask when you had your scan? I have a due date of March 23rd and last Monday they couldn't even see a fetal pole. Desperately hoping I get to see one in about an hours time!

MrsF18 · 03/08/2020 11:38

@bumblingalonghappily yeh so I thought I was almost 7 weeks when I had my scan, which was on the 29th of July. But that was according to my LMP. But the midwife thought I was more like 6 weeks with the measurements. So they haven’t actually revised my due date. But my 12 week scan is booked for the 9th of September. So I would imagine mine and your due dates are pretty similar! And my scan was a couple of days after yours so fingers crossed you see something! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Moonfox85 · 03/08/2020 12:09

@Zenianna

Have we got any other teachers on here? My work has asked us to let them know if you are in any stage of pregnancy so that they can make coronavirus accommodations? How are other schools "accommodating" pregnant staff during the pandemic?
@Zenianna I'm a teacher too and I told my school the day I found out as I was going in to teacher key workers kids at the time. They did a risk assessment meeting with me straight away and I have been told that I might have to work from home when I get to 28 weeks, depending on the situation. Since that is December time, I'm not actually going to have my own class but run catch up interventions for struggling kids instead. How have your school been?
KO2018 · 03/08/2020 12:12

@NewMumToBe2021 yes here’s hoping! Stay strong 💪

My midwife ignoring my texts so might ring the surgery

Boredinthehouse12 · 03/08/2020 12:15

@MrsF18 We have the same due date! I had my early scan last week and based on my LMP I should have been around 7 weeks too. However at my scan they said that based on the measurements, I’m more like 6 weeks, which is quite confusing. Will you be having anymore private scans or Will you just wait for the NHS dating scan?

EmzG20 · 03/08/2020 12:16

@bumblingalonghappily hope all goes well for you this afternoon x

MrsF18 · 03/08/2020 12:21

@Boredinthehouse12 your situation sounds exactly like me! I just got that early scan because of the spotting I had had. They were just doing a thorough check over. So I have no other scans planned until my 12 week one on the 9th of September.

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 12:28

@Zenianna I'm a teacher too! Going to wait for this scan to be over (in 5 mins time) before I think about telling her. Trying to keep myself busy by being on here in the waiting room.

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 12:28

Thanks to everyone wishing me well- I'm bloody terrified!

bobloblawlawblog · 03/08/2020 12:48

Bumbling thanks! I've booked with the company that does both. Actually going tomorrow.

Have got super weird symptoms at the moment, have had bloods back and they're ok, iron bit low at 28 but not bad, but I started with pins and needles in my whole right arm last night and it hasn't budged! Rung my doctors to get blood results and mentioned it and she says is fine?!

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 13:07

Thinking of you @bumblingalonghappily!

I can't believe how many of you are teachers!

bobloblawlawblog · 03/08/2020 13:13

I'm one too haha.

bumblingalonghappily · 03/08/2020 13:16

All good thankfully 😊 little 7mm baby with a visible heartbeat- v v relieved. She also pointed out a black area which she says is likely where my bleeding came from and I might get some more but it won't affect the pregnancy.

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 13:18

Absolutely amazing. I'm shocked how many teachers are on this thread. I always thought teachers wanted September babies! Grin

aureliacecilia · 03/08/2020 13:19

CONGRATULATIONS, @bumblingalonghappily. That's lovely news!

MrsF18 · 03/08/2020 13:21

@bumblingalonghappily brilliant news! So happy for you, must be such a relief!

EmzG20 · 03/08/2020 13:32
