@Taylortyler could be a possibility for me as twins are in my family I will find in 2 weeks at my early scan.

Taylortyler · 01/08/2020 21:46

@EmzG20 that is super exciting!
I saw a video earlier of a couple who naturally conceived quintuplets, so you never know!

Can I please ask what is EPU? And also what is DC?

bumblingalonghappily · 01/08/2020 22:05

Thanks @EmzG20 and @Taylortyler

Pretty sure it's not twins as had an early scan last week due to spotting and there was only one gestational sac (that she mentioned anyway!). Very glad I'm not the only one 😊 It's frustrating when I read that it's not possible to show yet on the web, but I know my own body!

@Taylortyler DC is Mumsnet speak for child, so DC1 is someone's first child. EPU is an early pregnancy unit- they are normally part of hospitals and do a range of things including scanning people in early pregnancy who are concerned due to spotting/bleeding/cramping etc.

KO2018 · 02/08/2020 07:07

@bumblingalonghappily I swear I also have a bump, not huge but something there....

Fun side note - I just threw up for the first time Sad How are we expected to go to work in this state ladies?!

ArtemisBean · 02/08/2020 07:09

Oh my gosh, yes, the bloat is real! I'm 8 weeks today and look about 15. My mum jokes about twins too. Although I think most of it is probably all the crisps I'm eating to stave off the morning sickness 😋How is everyone feeling? The fatigue has started to set in for me this week... which I'll take over nausea any time!

GreysLove · 02/08/2020 07:44

Totally tmi bit is anyone's bowels all over the place? The cramping I mentioned yesterday was so intense at 5am it woke me up, so I figured I needed to pee. Not much there and the pain got worse, so bad I thought I was going to pass out on the loo, dripping in a cold sweat. Had to breathe my way through the pain before a horrid bout of diarrhea (tmi! Soz). Dragged myself back to bed with the crampy feeling gone but lying there like I'd ran a marathon.

Been a little constipated up til now which made me feel like I had a little bump lol (first and only 6+2) but that's defo gone after last night. Thank god I have you ladies to talk to as we're holding off telling anyone as long as we can until first scan at 12 weeks.

Also the hormones were in full swing yesterday, was moody, overwhelmed, snappy and finally cried to OH for a solid 30mins about not very much. This whole thing is such a whirlwind!

Sussexbysea · 02/08/2020 08:13

Morning all!

My symptoms are Starting to wear off a little now, I’ve read it’s normal but it’ll always be a worry.

I’m going to see about going for an early scan, it’s £70 but 5 weeks is such a long time to wait.

OP posts:
c24680 · 02/08/2020 08:20

@Sussexbysea how many weeks are you?

I'm the same, considering a private scan but then I get a wave of nausea that doesn't last long. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow, going to speak to the midwife to see if I can speed up the scan as the nearest private scan place to us is almost 2 hours away

MrsS1984 · 02/08/2020 08:30

@greyslove this is so strange I had exactly the same thing in the night last night. Was woken up by cramping at around 1 followed by about half hour on the toilet in a cold, sweaty state. Felt awful. Woken up with the same hungover feeling this morning but no further bouts of it. I consulted Mr Google which then worried me because lots saying it's not a sign of pregnancy and could be something external but I'm fairly certain I had the same thing with my first? Hope you're feeling ok this morning.

GreysLove · 02/08/2020 08:39

@MrsS1984 that's so weird, but glad it's not just me. I definitely feel like I've had a big night out. Very drained, and have woken up early so just took the dog out for a quick walk while feeling like a zombie.

Had a bit of toast and back to bed :)

Really hoping it's a one off, and maybe a reaction to not eating very well yesterday- in response to my emotions there were many packs of crisps and a few biscuits and a cupcake. (Can you tell I have no morning sickness yet!)

Getting my head back in the game with good nutrition- my cousin is a PT who's going to write up a few at home workout sessions for when I feel I have the energy and talk through some meal planning option to focus on getting my cals from the right foods.

But for today it's a lazy one and ride out the 'hangover', hope you're feeling better this morning too x

Maggi85 · 02/08/2020 09:28

It’s gonna be a long day today - I’m feeling exhausted at the moment and my little boy had me up at 4am Shock fingers crossed I get a nanna nap at some point x

Clara9 · 02/08/2020 09:36

@GreysLove No such thing as tmi on here!

Feel like my symptoms are in reverse. Usually ok I the morning, but exhausted and sick in the evenings.

DSP21 · 02/08/2020 10:23

So i've had a few late nights since finding out i'm pregnant and I always wake up feeling hungover. No other symptoms at all, just that, and I'm feeling it today Confused

Bleeding seems to have died down to a bit of brown when I wipe so I'm hoping that's a good sign

Bradley14 · 02/08/2020 10:52

Hi girlies ,

Congratulations to everybody!!🤗

I’m around 6-7 weeks now and have the worst morning sickness, it’s waking me up in the mornings, keeping me up at night and making it extremely hard to stomach any food!
I’ve tried dry toast, plain digestives, ginger biscuits and tea but nothing seems to ease it at all 😩 does anyone have any other tricks that may work?

Xxx

c24680 · 02/08/2020 10:56

@Bradley14 sea bands on amazon worked wonders with me.

Sussexbysea · 02/08/2020 13:13

@c24680 I’m 8 weeks tomorrow. But by the time I can get a private scan, I’ll be nearly 10 weeks and then 3 weeks later is my nhs scan. I’m not sure what to do. Help!!

Indigestion is something I experience a lot more now so there not much laying down and getting comfy on the sofa after putting my daughter to bed anymore.

Sussexbysea · 02/08/2020 13:14

@Bradley14 my sickness has eased off now but I find eating more helps. I really don’t fancy it but i make dinner for us all and eat as much as I physically can without being ill.

The anxiety is real today!!!! Im 8+4 today. And I didn't want to tell people/ my parents until we had our first scan because I just need that validation and knowledge that all is ok.

Hubby's parents (previous grandchildren) are local but mine aren't- so we see them a lot and I'm getting anxious about not telling them. They will know somethings up if I don't have a glass of wine with dinner 🤣 Don't want to tell them and not my parents for whom it will be their first grandchild. But didn't really want to share till we had a scan.

So now I'm worried about seeing them and hiding it from them- 15 mins was unbearable the other day and that was just my MIL dropping something off to the house.

So I've caved and booked an early scan, they had one on Tuesday and my first midwifery appointment is on Wednesday....

That way I can have some validation/ reassurance and then we can show/ tell both sets of parents.

I'm not normally v anxious but it's so bad at the moment.... is anybody else feeling the same??

Sh4mmy · 02/08/2020 13:59

Hey everyone! Just checking in to say thank you to everyone who checked in on me!
My body still feels and is acting pregnant, which is hard when I know deep down it's not, I just want Friday to hurry up!! I'll probably lie low now but will update you anyone wants to know!

Good luck to you all, keep safe and keep smiling xx

c24680 · 02/08/2020 14:27

@Sussexbysea if it gives you piece of mind do the private scan, eating more does ease the sickness and oddly taking pregnacare too.

My sickness stopped at 8 weeks but sore boobs and fatigue is back so that's one good sign, I'm sure we're all worrying for nothing.

This is my second baby so I'm going with the flow less than the first as I think I know what's normal ha!

Mrs1989 · 02/08/2020 14:50

@Sussexbysea I agree, if a private scan would give you peace of mind, do it, even if an NHS scan would follow just a couple of weeks later. It may actually be better that you will be 10 weeks at the time, as I have read that seeing a heartbeat at 8+ weeks means the odds of something happening further down the line are much lower. For this reason, I’m thinking of booking one for around 9-9.5 weeks if I can, as even if I’ve got my dates slightly wrong, I should probably be at least 8 weeks. I feel a bit guilty spending extra money (it would be £70 usually, but hopefully £59 with a current offer), but I think waiting 12+ weeks for the first scan is such a long time for us ladies to wait!

I haven’t had any of the well-known symptoms like morning sickness or sore boobs and I’m 6 weeks today, so just hoping I can hold on until I’ve got some more weeks under my belt and also trying to remember NHS info that for some women, symptoms come and go, or don’t come at all! I would really like to ask my mum about her symptoms (three healthy pregnancies) but I can’t, as we’ve decided not to tell her just yet xxx

Kw35 · 02/08/2020 15:20

Hi all!

I hope I’m ok to join the convo :) I’m 9 wks + 1 and it’s my first pregnancy. Had brown spotting for a week now and I’ve been referred to the Early Pregnancy Unit. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Feeling super anxious!

Sussexbysea · 02/08/2020 15:31

@c24680 @Mrs1989 thanks both. I think we will still go.

This is my second baby but for some reason I seem to be feeling a little more anxious as time goes by. I’m getting so attached to baby that the thought of getting to my dating scan where I’ll be 13 weeks fills me with a little dread. It’s the unknown. I never thought with my first that I could go into the scan happy and come out so distraught because there wasn’t a heartbeat etc, it’s just didn’t cross my mind.

However this time, I’m totally aware. It happened to my best friend and it was horrific for her

SmileyT · 02/08/2020 15:39

@Sussexbysea I had an early scan today and I feel so much better for it, so I'd definitely say it'll feel it gives you peace of mind go for it. I had mine earlier than planned and they measured me at 7w1 in line with LMP, so will definitely get another private scan before my dating scan x

@ElsiesJourney totally understand the worries just remember that everyone will be happy when you tell them and you will feel happier after the early scan and MW appt ☺️

Sussexbysea · 02/08/2020 15:49

Hey @SmileyT how many weeks did you think you were before getting scanned? I can’t get booked in for 2 weeks so illl wait till then x
