Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@RosettaR

When is your next scan? Is it this week?

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow which bit nervous about - just praying my little girl twin has caught up a bit with her brother x

ivfbeenbusy · 09/10/2020 14:25

Hey all so update from my 20 week appointment yesterday- both twins doing fine and grown since last scan. Little twin is still measuring much smaller - on or below the 5th centile but then consultant said at this stage she's not too concerned as long as the baby grows consistently. Can't help but still feel anxious but just got to take One scan at a time!
Also neither would sit still for the scan again! So they couldn't get all the heart information to complete the anomaly scan so for to go back again to get that completed!

BlueJayTO · 09/10/2020 15:47

@ivfbeenbusy Glad to hear your twins are doing well despite the size difference. It’s only natural to be anxious, but I hope things continue smoothly for you.

I’m at 9+2 now and my nausea has ramped up something rotten in the last few days. My latest scan was on Wednesday and all looked well.

I’m doing NIPT next week and they want to scan me beforehand to make sure I don’t shell out a load of money if there’s a problem - it’s only covered by public healthcare where I am if you meet certain conditions - so I get a 10 week and then my 12 week nuchal translucency scan at the end of the month, and if all is good from there they refer me to an OB at the local hospital.

COVID cases are on the rise where I am at the moment so we’re expecting more restrictions to be announced any day - will be interested to see how that impacts any of my upcoming appointments.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Fightingtobepositive · 11/10/2020 09:15

I’ve been reading through the thread. It’s so love to hear positive stories and good things about scans. These groups really are a godsend.

We are still not able to enjoy these moments because of the concern over the scan. But I’ve been booked in for 20th which seems a lifetime away. But atleast I’m home from hospital and we can deal with things together.

Has anyone seen anything on a scan around 4/5 weeks. I was 4+6 and nothing 😖

BlueJayTO · 11/10/2020 12:58

@Fightingtobepositive it sounds like you’ve been through the mill recently. Glad to hear you’re home now.

My clinic only scans from 6 weeks, and that’s primarily to check location to ensure it’s not ectopic. I was fortunate at 6+1 to see a heartbeat, but I could tell from the sonographer’s reaction that it’s not always possible to see one that early.

From what I’ve read, 4-5 weeks is often too early to see much at all. Fingers crossed for you over the next few weeks!

Fightingtobepositive · 11/10/2020 14:09

@BlueJayTO thank you. It is such a crazy time.

Congratulations to you ☺️ So you didn’t get a scan sooner than that?

I’m yet to find anything at all that says you may see NOTHING. there’s usually a sac at least 😖

Ro198 · 11/10/2020 14:27

@Fightingtobepositive I had nothing at 4+4, the sac was visible at 5 weeks but was a tiny dot.

Fightingtobepositive · 11/10/2020 15:20

Really @Ro198 I think actual experiences will give me a Little hope 🙏🤞

Ro198 · 11/10/2020 15:59

@Fightingtobepositive I was told it’s normal not to be able to see it until hcg is over 2000 so it depends on what the level started at as to how long it takes

Fightingtobepositive · 11/10/2020 17:16

Thanks @Ro198 I wish I’d knew what my hcg was. It was being done daily to 🤦🏻‍♀️

ivfbeenbusy · 11/10/2020 18:33

@Fightingtobepositive

I'm surprised they haven't told you the hcg number if you are having it done daily? when I've been seen by EPUs for miscarriages and ectopics when I've asked they've always told me the number

Fightingtobepositive · 11/10/2020 20:10

@ivfbeenbusy yes it was being done daily. I’m home now. I’m a drop to be honest I didn’t ask, I was so in shock with everything going on and the communication was just so limited because no one could spend long on my room. I know it was rising. I guess I could ring but would I make myself worse if I knew 🙈. I’m sorry you’ve been though that 💜

ivfbeenbusy · 13/10/2020 19:24

@RosettaR

Hope you're ok and the twins still bumping along nicely - when is your next scan? X

RosettaR · 14/10/2020 11:37

@ivfbeenbusy yes all is OK here as far as I know! Next scan is on Monday at which point I will be nearly 17 weeks. I'm still fighting anxiety about the whole thing and questioning every little thing, especially whether I'm eating the right things. I know people say the babies are basically parasites and it's you who will suffer rather than them if you're not eating right. I think I'm just looking for something to worry about because this type of twin pregnancy is so high risk and most of its totally out of my control!

I'm glad your 20 week scan was OK. Sorry your little girl hasn't caught up but it's good they are happy she's growing at her own pace. Are they giving you any extra scans after this?

@Fightingtobepositive sorry you've had such a rough time and that you've got still more waiting now, that's so tough. I've also not heard of scans where nothing is visible but then I've not really heard of scans being done that early so that may not mean anything. I'll keep fingers crossed for the 20th.

ivfbeenbusy · 14/10/2020 12:35

@RosettaR
Good luck for Monday! I have another scan on Thursday as they have to do redo the heart scans as they wouldn't sit still last week so no chocolate for me next week as that usually sets them off! 🤣

After that scan then I have a scan at 26 weeks, 30, 34 weeks unless there is any growth concerns in which case they might add more in x

Lemongrass1 · 14/10/2020 15:57

Hi all, wonder if you mind me joining? I’m currently 6+3 after a FET. I had a moderate fresh gushing bleed on Sun and they brought my viability scan forwards to mon. They found twins although only one had a heartbeat- but they thought it was still early at 6+1 and will re scan in 1 week. No cause for bleeding found. I’ve bled again yesterday- not quite as much blood and it settled quickly. So now pretty much feel in limbo, can’t get hold of my clinic ( and not sure there’s much they can really do anyway). I guess it could go either way at this point and I should wait to see what scan next week shows. Hate all this uncertainty but would be great for a bit of a handhold. X

ivfbeenbusy · 14/10/2020 16:25

@Lemongrass1

Welcome! I've seen your username on various boards! Congratulations! I'm also a twin mummy to be. Twice the babies equals twice the stress! 6+1 could still be too early - did you transfer 2? One of mine has been much smaller right from day 1 but I transferred 2 embryos at completely different stages - one fresh one frozen one hatching one expanded x

Lemongrass1 · 14/10/2020 20:26

@ivfbeenbusy thanks for responding! Yes we transferred two frosties, one a 3BB and one a 5CA. Perhaps that would explain why one is slightly ahead of the other?? I’ve finally managed to get hold of the clinic today and the Drs are going to discuss whether they scan me again this week or send me to the EPAU. They will call me in the morning with a decision. Good luck for your scan tomorrow x

JandL2020 · 14/10/2020 20:31

@Lemongrass1 I’ve been meaning to tag you on the infertility board as I couldn’t remember your circumstances. The exact thing happened to me today -no heartbeat for one and the other was slow heart rate. Got to go back next week. Feel so deflated! I was a single transfer so what does that mean? I was 6 weeks + 3 today - they said measurements were fine for both with fetal poles -I’m hoping it’s just too early? Did they sound positive in your case? X

ivfbeenbusy · 14/10/2020 20:35

@Lemongrass1

That could definitely explain the difference as a stage 3 embryo id say is at least 1-2 days behind the hatching one? There was 4-5 days between my twins in the first few weeks and even now at 21 weeks the gap is pretty big

Lemongrass1 · 14/10/2020 20:45

@JandL2020 Yes they sounded pretty positive about it all, they weren’t worried at all that one twin had no heartbeat and said everything looked on track and it was just too early. It looked like heartbeat for first twin had only just started and they didn’t measure rate or anything. I’m actually mostly worried about this bleeding! It’s definitely not spotting, more like a medium period. It seems to have stopped again but I’m constantly on knicker watch

@ivfbeenbusy thanks, that makes sense. I just have to hope this bleeding doesn’t come back. It’s horribly nerve wracking. I’m terrified to lift my toddler but my OH has hurt his back (terrible timing!) so we’re a bit stuck!

JandL2020 · 14/10/2020 20:51

@Lemongrass1 thank you I feel slightly better now as sounds like we are literally in the same boat. My other half said that the consultant said the heart rate wasn’t measured but I didn’t hear that and I just heard his words “bradycardic” and just thought the worst. Now a long week to wait and see. I hope your bleeding doesn’t come back and if it does it’s lighter xx

Parkandride · 15/10/2020 06:06

Ahh @Lemongrass1 I recognise your name,congratulations! Bleeding seems so common with ivf, I had a couple of bad ones at this stage and all seems ok at 12 weeks. Hope you and @JandL2020 can get some answers soon Flowers

Opinions please, I agreed I'd share my pregnancy news with my work team late this afternoon. Just remembered it's baby loss awareness week and the wave of light event is tonight. Obviously I don't know everyone's circumstances so is this an arsehole move? I take a slightly different from next week so won't get time with the full team for a while

ivfbeenbusy · 15/10/2020 06:55

@Parkandride

I finally decided to announce to my wider circle friends last week via social media (can't be bothered to tell everyone in person) - the day before baby loss awareness week. I didn't include any scan photos or cutesy family montages. I'd been clearing conkers that day and found one with 2 conkers inside its shell so used that instead to signify my twins

I included a bit about my story - my losses, my IVF - i know I never begrudged anyone happy news when I knew they'd struggled too.

Personally I avoided doing anything this week as I know it's hard for a lot of people. Fertility awareness week is next month wks I probably would have done it that week too just to be open about our own fertility struggles

UnicornPuff · 15/10/2020 09:21

Hi do you mind if I join? I was on the sept ivf/fet and managed to get a BFP! I have been in a bit of denial and didn't really think it could be true. I don't feel sick enough or have enough symptoms except the need to sleep! I had my scan yesterday at 8 weeks and it measured at exactly 8 weeks with a little heart beat! I feel like I ams starting to believe this might actually be true!
