Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@UnicornPuff congratulations! I also remember the feeling of not really believing it could be real. So lovely that you were able to see a heartbeat!

@Parkandride what did you decide in the end? It is hard isn't it, I've got a few colleagues who are married but childless and really worried about telling them because you never know if they are childless by choice. There's only so much you can do though, they have to find out sometime. I'm sure you'll be sensitive about it given you know what it's like on the other side.

@Lemongrass1 that's good they were positive about it At your scan, they are the experts. I really hope you and @JandL2020 get some good news soon.

Parkandride · 16/10/2020 07:04

I did go ahead @rosettaR but just kept it very brief and upbeat and it seemed fine. I'm happy to share about it being ivf if it ever comes up, and will definitely not be constantly talking about it or complaining so hopefully can be sensitive

I love the conkers idea @ivfbeenbusy Smile

Welcome @unicornpuff that first scan is incredible isn't it

ivfbeenbusy · 16/10/2020 09:28

@Parkandride

I'm very open about IVF and our struggles as I think it helps removes the stigma around it and actually when it's come up I've been surprised how many people have turned around and said that their children were IVF babies too - men especially seem interested to talk about it

I'm finding with having twins though that I'm telling a lot more people ie near strangers about IVF - more than I normally would as the standard question seems to be "does twins run in the family" so I feel obliged to explain no they don't and they are IVF babies

ivfbeenbusy · 19/10/2020 09:36

@RosettaR

Good luck with your scan today 🤞🤞

RosettaR · 20/10/2020 07:32

@ivfbeenbusy thanks! It wasn't good news, the smaller twin is now really small and the discordance is up to 29%, it was only 3% two weeks ago. We're being referred to another hospital for more scans and I should hear today about an appointment. So worried and wondering what went so badly wrong in the last two weeks.

ivfbeenbusy · 20/10/2020 07:47

@RosettaR

Oh no I'm sorry it wasn't good news!

I don't know if it makes a difference but my discordance didn't measure that much different between the two when they were measuring the Crown to Rump Length which is the measurement they use up to 14 weeks I think. (There was around 4-6 days difference between them) As soon as they swapped to measure abdomen/head size/femur length/estimated birth weight the discordance jumped up hugely and was suddenly 26% at 16 weeks and the same if not a bit more at 20 weeks

RosettaR · 20/10/2020 08:44

@ivfbeenbusy thanks! Our discordance was significant with CRL, than the first time they measured estimated weight, head circumference etc. they were both really similar so we relaxed, and the consultant even said she thought the difference with CRL was just due to how the smaller twin likes to lie. Now the discordance is huge!

It never even occurred to me before that I'd end up having a horrendously difficult pregnancy, I assumed getting pregnant would be the hard part!

louloulemons · 20/10/2020 13:53

Is it ok if I join? I had ICSI in Sept and due mid June. I looked at some of the June baby threads but still finding it hard to read all the stories of everyone who fell naturally and had unexpected positives. I think the emotional rollercoaster of the last few months is still sinking in.

Trying to stay positive but also just terrified of it all being snatched away. Clinging on for 7 week scan!

UnicornPuff · 20/10/2020 17:40

@louloulemons congratulations!! Have you had your first scan? Or when is it due?
I completely understand where you are coming from I think infertility almost robs you of the joy and excitement everyone else has when it happens.
I found i have relaxed considerably after my scan although as the 12 week one gets closer I can already feel myself starting to panic that something will have gone wrong. I have a learnt negativity of why will it work when nothing has before!

@RosettaR I am sorry your scan didn't have the news you were hoping for. Have you heard about an appointment with the specialist?

ivfbeenbusy · 20/10/2020 17:48

@louloulemons

Welcome! Totally understand where you are coming from - our journey is so different to the happily obliviously fertile that I don't feel I have much in common with them either so tend to stay away from those boards a bit too

When is your 7 week scan? I allowed myself to relax a bit once I'd had the 12 week scan too/ combined testing and we threw in NIPT too just to settle the nerves. 22 weeks with twins now - I feel like my next milestone is 24 weeks and the next growth scan I have at 26 weeks as I've also got a twin much smaller than her brother. I'll probably start buying things then too x

Lemongrass1 · 20/10/2020 17:49

@RosettaR so sorry to hear about the scan, I hope you get your next appt soon so they can give you more info about what the situation is. Pregnancy is so stressful!

@louloulemons congratulations! When is your 7 week scan

AFM I went to the EPU today, after the two bigger bleeds I’ve been spotting continuously. So both babies are still there with heartbeats although they said they don’t measure the rate this early. They found a subchorionic haematoma which is the cause for bleeding. I had a feeling this was the case, not sure how the IVF clinic scans missed it, was really obvious when they showed me today but that’s why I really just wanted to go see the EPU. Anyway I’m 7+2, one twin is measuring 7+2 and the other is 6+6. They said it’s just a matter of wait and see now but have given me open access to go back if bleeding heavily again.

Lemongrass1 · 20/10/2020 17:59

@ivfbeenbusy can I ask which NIPT you went for? Whilst it would be nice to know the babies gender, have been told the panorama test is taking up to three weeks as it’s sent to the USA. So might get harmony as I’d rather get the important results ASAP, gender is nice to know but not essential. They said 5-7 days for harmony as can be processed in UK.

ivfbeenbusy · 20/10/2020 18:38

@Lemongrass1

Glad you had good news on your scan and hopefully the SCH goes away over the next few weeks

I used Panorama for the NIPT Via a private maternity clinic. It's supposed to take 10 days and the sample is sent to America which I find really random. My first draw came back as insufficient dna so I had a big panic (I did the test around 11 weeks) so then had it redone and results came back just under 10 days

Just bear in mind with non identical twins it really only gives you a downs, pateus and Edwards - none of the other chromosome disorders you'd get reported on if it was a single baby.

If hadn't done PGS testing last year and had all abnormals /mosaics I probably wouldn't have paid the money for NIPT - it's just these two embryos were from the first batch we decided not to PGS on

BlueJayTO · 20/10/2020 19:34

Welcome @louloulemons and congratulations!

@RosettaR hoping you get some reassurance at your next appointment - it’s definitely a stressful time

I’m now at 10+6. My nausea is easing off (seemed to peak once I reached 9 weeks and I had a pretty miserable few days but a lot better now) but I’m still needing to nap quite a lot. I have 2 more scans lined up in the next couple of weeks - one at my clinic next Wednesday at 12 weeks on the dot, then if all is well there they discharge me to the local hospital and I have another one there the following week

I just received a call this afternoon from my clinic with my NIPT results - all low risk and baby is a girl. Seems so strange knowing the sex this early!

@Lemongrass1 My clinic uses Invitae so the sample also gets sent to the US, but we’re the same side of the Atlantic so it was received and processed really quickly - had the blood draw on Thursday, received by them in San Fran on Friday and analysis and results sent to my clinic today.

All the best to everyone for smooth pregnancies from here!

louloulemons · 20/10/2020 21:22

Thank you so much for the nice welcome! I feel much more at home here! My 7 week scan is a week on Monday, counting down the days! This whole process feels very much like jumping hurdles right from when you have your baseline doesn’t it. So it will be nice to cross the next one. Also very much looking forward to the end of bloody cyclogest!

MrsV2018 · 20/10/2020 22:19

@louloulemons I know what you mean about the cyclogests. I'm looking forward to them going... I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and have my early scan at the clinic on Thursday. Has anyone else got a loss of appetite and nausea? I'm really worried I'm not eating enough. Hardly eaten anything last couple of days and couldn't keep toast down this evening. I'm worried I've done some harm

Fightingtobepositive · 21/10/2020 14:04

Hi all don you mind me jumping in to ask how long everyone has to continue to take their progesterone after a positive test?

Ro198 · 21/10/2020 14:27

@Fightingtobepositive I stopped at 12 weeks. For the last week I was on half the dose.

louloulemons · 21/10/2020 14:35

@Fightingtobepositive my clinic gave me enough to use twice a day until 10 weeks.

@MrsV2018 I haven’t had an nausea but the reduced appetite has really taken me by surprise. I thought it would be going the other way. Are you just trying to eat little things when you can?

BlueJayTO · 21/10/2020 15:45

Hi @Fightingtobepositive how are you getting along?

I’m due to stop progesterone in a few days at 11+3, but it varies between clinics

thefishthatcouldwish · 21/10/2020 15:57

Hi all so many names I recognise 😀

How is everyone getting on?

I am finding this wait between my scan which I had at 6 weeks and 12 week scan sooo hard. I am 8 weeks today and have booking in Friday.

thefishthatcouldwish · 21/10/2020 15:59

Ps I stopped progesterone last week at 7 weeks. Clinic suggested I just finish the packet.

Fightingtobepositive · 21/10/2020 15:59

And what kind of ivf did you have frozen or fresh if you don’t mind me asking?

@BlueJayTO thanks for asking. I’ve been really unwell, and now to top it off my liver bloods are crazy and I have slight jaundice, I’m back and for hospital because they are baffled and concerned.
I’ve today read that progesterone can affect liver enzymes and cause jaundice. So now I’m panicking it’s that and I’m only 7+1

Some people have said there’s no need to take progesterone on fresh cycles. What’s everyone’s thoughts ?

Fightingtobepositive · 21/10/2020 16:00

@thefishthatcouldwish why did they say to stop?
I’m so confused how everywhere is different

Fightingtobepositive · 21/10/2020 16:01

@thefishthatcouldwish 8 weeks we are similar. Time is going so fast x
