Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@ValidUser

Ooh I've been looking at buying a Doppler - which one do you have/where from?? Xx

ValidUser · 04/09/2020 11:01

@ivfbeenbusy a friend who did IVF and is done with having babies gave me hers. It's called hi . bebe. I haven't seen them around but it's good.

I think the Sonoline ones are meant to be reliable. Not too expensive either.

I had one made by Vycom myself and would not recommend it at all. Horrible interference and looked like Fisher Price made it.

ivfbeenbusy · 04/09/2020 12:03

@ValidUser

Thanks! Found a Hi Bebe one on eBay for £20 so I'll give it a go 🤞🤞

ValidUser · 04/09/2020 12:26

@ivfbeenbusy very nice!

bunhead34 · 04/09/2020 14:18

@ValidUser thank you, that makes me feel better!

RosettaR · 05/09/2020 10:38

How are you ladies today?

I'm really bloated at the moment, I still think it's bloating not a bump though because every now and again it goes down. Feel like it's really just a case of waiting for the 12 week scan which is now under 2 weeks away!

ValidUser · 05/09/2020 10:55

@RosettaR I'm getting over a migraine, but also delighted after listening to baby again last night! Heartbeat right over on the other side from the other day. Clearly an excellent swimmer.

RosettaR · 05/09/2020 11:38

@ValidUser I've also had migraines recently, I do get them sometimes (just visual aura normally, then I feel crap for about a day). I didn't get any since my bfp until this week, and now I've had three, the last one of which was really painful which is unusual for me. Have you noticed them getting more frequent recently? Wondering if it's normal ...

ValidUser · 05/09/2020 11:46

@RosettaR normal or not, can be common in pregnancy. Mine aren't much more frequent, but they might be getting that way.

ivfbeenbusy · 05/09/2020 12:54

@RosettaR

Can't believe you haven't got a bump yet - I'm
Massive today - my bump is the size of about 25 weeks I'd say when I had my DD - these babies are definitely going to be chunks 🤣

My bump aches a lot when I've been on my feet a bit (which isn't much when I'm working from home) or if I sit too long at the table working or been out in the car then I have to work with feet up in the lounge. If I walk even just round the shops then I get aches too. Starting to really see the physical toll having twins has on your body. I remember getting these aches and pains with DD but not until I was about 7+ months and I'm only 16 weeks tomorrow. I'm actually starting to be a bit scared I'll be on bed rest from 28 weeks or earlier

I've booked another private scan for next Friday just to check on them and DH actually coming to this one and then I'll only have 3 weeks to wait for my 20 week scan

ivfbeenbusy · 05/09/2020 12:57

@ValidUser

I've never had a migraine thank god but heard they can be awful so hope you feel better

As your pregnancy processes need to keep an eye on the headaches though as I'm sure it can be a sign of pre eclampsia or something once you get into the 3rd trimester

ValidUser · 05/09/2020 15:48

Thanks @ivfbeenbusy. I'll be able to keep myself screened in the living room. (The husband and I are both doctors. And we're neurotic. It's been a delightful rollercoaster to date! We're even sending out NIPT directly to him, which has saved us some money.)

bunhead34 · 05/09/2020 16:01

Is NIPT not normally done through nhs?
Seems like most people are going private for that?

ValidUser · 05/09/2020 16:08

@bunhead34 I'm in Ireland. So we're about €10000 down after all the treatments!

ivfbeenbusy · 05/09/2020 16:10

@bunhead34

It's not offered by the NHS only the combined test - if the combined test comes back high risk then you can then get the harmony on the NHS and then cvs/amnio

ivfbeenbusy · 05/09/2020 16:11

@ValidUser

Tell me about it - we've spent £35,000 to get this far 🤦‍♀️

bunhead34 · 05/09/2020 16:23

@ivfbeenbusy I wish I read about this before, my brain has stopped working since getting pregnant 😂

ValidUser · 05/09/2020 16:31

@ivfbeenbusy ouch!

ivfbeenbusy · 05/09/2020 16:46

@ValidUser

It's only money 🤣

we remortgaged for a large part of it and to be honest I don't notice the cost as the mortgage only went up £80 a month or so at first and actually when interest rates went down we don't pay any more now than we did 5 years ago before IVF. Then we did a loan for the last £13.5k when we decided to do a couple of final rounds which is £275 a month for 5 years

Full time childminder costs for my DD were £850 a month so now she's at school that's dropped a lot which has helped pay for the loan so actually I'd say we aren't any worse off financially than before

Obviously when the twins arrive childcare costs are going to be eye watering again but it's for such a short period of time really of our lives

Ijustlikefood · 06/09/2020 07:50

Looking for advise I've a bit of dark red bleeding this morning, do I contact my clinic or hospital , feeling a bit crampy too

ivfbeenbusy · 06/09/2020 08:05

@Ijustlikefood

How many weeks are you? If you're 6 weeks I'd contact the local EPU - less than 6 weeks they don't tend to be terribly helpful as they wouldn't be able to see much on a scan and will often say just to take another test in a weeks time x

Ijustlikefood · 06/09/2020 08:32

Around 4 weeks, I've contacted 111 and waiting for a call back from a doctor which should be within 2 hours
Thank you for you're reply

RosettaR · 06/09/2020 09:03

Sorry to hear that @Ijustlikefood, how stressful for you. And on the weekend when the GP isn't around. Fingers crossed for you it ends up being nothing.

@ValidUser @ivfbeenbusy I think we are nearer the £10k as this was our first round, but the cost of all the tests really added up and I was on the highest dose of stims. The clinic seem to have forgotten to charge us for ICSI (we weren't expecting to need it so didn't pay in advance). I was planning to remind them but it just feels so easy not to say anything and to save the money ...

I agree childcare costs for twins will be crazy! Better start saving!

RosettaR · 06/09/2020 09:08

How do you all feel about covid and visitors? My parents are meant to be coming to stay next week, but they live with my sister and she's been getting the bus to work all week (although apparently it's empty). They will be so upset if I tell them not to come. And infection rates are really low where they live if you look at the figures ... So I'm thinking I will let them come but I will be worried about it.

ivfbeenbusy · 06/09/2020 09:47

@Ijustlikefood

At 4 weeks 111 will advise you to go to a&e - a&e will have you sit there for hours and then you'll be told as it's Sunday there won't be anyone available to scan you. They might make an appointment at an EPU but honestly there is zero they can and will do - there is no point in scanning you as you're far far too early - sorry if this sounds harsh but I'm just trying to be honest and manage your expectations (I've had 5 miscarriages). You can try your clinic but honestly the advice will all the same - bed rest and test again in a few days x
