Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@ivfdreaming that's so stressful!

I'm working from home until Wednesday's scan in the hope that it keeps the SCH nice and small and helps it heal.

8 weeks today. I'll be arranging my NIPT soon.

ChaiTea1 · 17/08/2020 11:44

Hey ladies! Can I join? Firstly congratulations to you all!

I think I’m going to need reassurance and some hand holding through this journey as my googling is getting quite excessive and ridiculous 😂

History: Started my ivf process last year ended with 10 frozen embryos.
1st FET BFN
2nd ended in a miscarriage at about 10weeks due to a large subchronic haematoma

3rd FET BFN
4th FET got fed up with my last clinic so I moved to a new clinic and it’s a positive!

I’m currently 4+5 so very early days. Just don’t want to go through what I did with my miscarriage, having a SCH was really emotionally destroying due to the amount of bleeding I had.

How’s everyone else getting on with their pregnancies?

ivfdreaming · 17/08/2020 11:50

@ValidUser

I'd definitely check when you book in for the NIPT where they send the blood test to - I wish I'd gone with somewhere that does it in the U.K. rather than sending it to America because the time difference is 8 hours so it's hard for the clinic to chase them up 🤷‍♀️ plus with America being harder hit with Covid I'm sure that's delaying it too

@ChaiTea1

Welcome! And congratulations on your BFP!! X

takingthistooseriously · 17/08/2020 12:17

@ivfdreaming that's annoying, particularly when you have paid for a service on the basis of the results being provided in a certain time frame. Hope you get them soon and get to enjoy buying your pram!

@ChaiTea1 welcome!

I got my screening back today and results for DS are 1: 1600 ish and for Edwards/Patau's the risk is 1: 62,000 or something ridiculous so I'm feeling relieved and probably won't go for the NIPT or further testing now. I have also moved into maternity jeans and will be living in them forever!!

ivfdreaming · 17/08/2020 12:19

@takingthistooseriously

Great news on the test results!! X

ValidUser · 17/08/2020 14:43

@ivfdreaming my labs will be done in Germany (or maybe the Netherlands?) and we'll send them ourselves (can't send results to myself so they'll go straight to my husband's practice). We'll save a lot on doctor fees, but will courier them to Dublin ourselves (we're in Ireland anyway, so not a massive trek). Inconvenient, but nowhere offers the test we want.

There are advantages to being as neurotic as I am!

Someone at work suggested I shouldn't worry and it'll make the baby highly anxious, and I was this close to telling them that stressing about being stressed wasn't going to help, and the embryo cannot read my thoughts, so short of my going around having an active panic or screaming, I think the baby will be fine!

ValidUser · 17/08/2020 14:44

@ChaiTea1 welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about your SCH, and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I have a small SCH, but no PV bleeding, so I'm just being monitored at the moment. I'm 8 weeks today.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

bunhead34 · 17/08/2020 15:05

@ChaiTea1 congrats on your pregnancy!

My bleeding was worse yesterday, red and filled most of a liner.
The clinic have moved my scan to this Thursday (instead of next Thursday) as I'll
Be 6 weeks then.
No bleeding today - so who knows!

ValidUser · 17/08/2020 15:34

@bunhead34 I so, so hope everything is ok for you.

takingthistooseriously · 17/08/2020 15:51

@bunhead34 Good news that they've moved it closer, Thursday must seem like it's a long way away still though I bet. I hope you've seen the last of your bleeding now Flowers

RosettaR · 17/08/2020 16:22

@ivfdreaming so that is already a lot of appointments for you! My booking in appointment with the midwives is on Wednesday so I was going to tell them about the twins then. Is it twins clinic who will confirm re scan frequency etc.? I can't believe you're at 12 weeks already, this is really flying by!

Sorry the NIPT is being slow, that is really annoying. You're so organised looking at prams though! My main organised moment has been booking an NCT course in Jan/Feb, although I'm now wondering whether I should have tried to find one specifically for twins as it seems everything will be different.

Welcome @ChaiTea1. I'm sorry to hear you've had such difficult experiences getting this far. I'm the same with anxiety and googling, I'm really struggling not to let it take over. I've been more relaxed about miscarriage since my scan but I'm just worrying about other things instead like whether I'm eating enough or too much of certain foods. I had a major panic last night about whether I've been eating too much fish and getting too much mercury. I'm following the nhs guidelines but eating more than some other countries recommend. You're right though @ValidUser, worrying about worrying is not going to help!

@bunhead34 good luck for your scan on Thursday. It must feel like an age away but it will come sooner than you think. At least you're not bleeding today.

RosettaR · 17/08/2020 16:34

Seriously the minute I typed I was more relaxed about miscarriage I went to the loo and had some more bleeding, so am panicking again. Doubt there's any point calling the clinic now that they've confirmed it's not ectopic as I think that's their main concern.

ValidUser · 17/08/2020 16:48

@RosettaR it's awful how one worry is almost magically replaced with another. I was worried about a blighted ovum and when we saw the lovely baby doing well, the SCH became the concern.

I really hope your bleeding is nothing concerning and it stops soon. Are you on progesterone and could it be irritation?

ivfdreaming · 17/08/2020 16:53

@RosettaR

I'd call your EPU and see them about the bleeding? And explain it's twins? They should definitely see you?

I'd also tell the midwife at the booking in as they are supposed to not just send you to any old hospital for your 12 weeks scan supposed to be ones that are knowledgeable about twins. I think the twins clinic sorts the scans - I've got my first appointment on Thursday so hopefully know more then

I didn't bother with NCT with DD as we knew we'd need a c section and they only really have one lesson on that. I think I read if you haven't had a c section before then 40% of women still give birth to twins naturally so might still be worth attending NCT?

ChaiTea1 · 17/08/2020 19:19

Thank you all for welcoming me ☺️

@ValidUser - sorry to hear about your SCH, do you know how big it is? Mines was super big and was on top of the placenta which was pushing the sac down so there was no hope for me. However, I was put on complete bed rest and was advised not to move around too much or do much heavy lifting. I think mines was a rare size but I’ve heard so many stories where the bleed clears up on its own.

@RosettaR - Can you get a scan with the EPU to see what that bleed is? I hope it’s nothing too serious.
I agree all the googling doesn’t help, I have to put my phone somewhere out of reach so I stop going down a loop hole!

ValidUser · 17/08/2020 19:50

@ChaiTea1 it's easily less than 20% of the size of the gestational sac. Probably closer to 10. So given that I'm asymptomatic, apparently it isn't increasing my risk right now. The main difficulty is I'm on aspirin and innohep and can't consider coming off them because of antiphospholipid syndrome and recurrent chemical pregnancies.

It may even be a collapsed gestational sac as we transferred both our embryos but I'm pregnant with just the one.

The other difficulty is nobody in my clinic knows much about antiphospholipid syndrome. My last clinic was worse though, and they kept calling it lupus. (It's not.) I'm trying not to be their annoying doctor patient, but I need to keep the baby safe.

MorgenMuffel · 18/08/2020 08:42

@ChaiTea1 welcome and Congrats. Sorry to hear everything you have gone through, its natural to be worried so share away.

@rosettaR sorry to hear about your bleed. As others have said can you call the EPU?

@bunhead34 good luck with the scan on thurs, hang in there

@takingthistooseriously congrats on the results. I finally got mine back yesterday and simikar numbers to you - low risk for all. Such a relief, feels like another hurdle gone.

I've got a phone appt with the consultant this morning due to my existing health conditions. Don't really know what to expect, and not sure if I will stay consultant led or not.

Also, does anyone have really itchy boobs? Mine are awful, particularly the cleavage area/ in between them and I have some sort of rash. Driving me up the wall and its worse at night and stops me sleeping! Using E45 to try and calm it down, but any other ideas?

RosettaR · 18/08/2020 09:10

Thanks all! The bleeding has stopped and was only ever very light so I'm hoping it was just something like a scratch from the applicator. If it comes back I'll call the GP and ask if I can be referred to the EPU. I just feel exhausted from all the worry to be honest, I need to find a way to relax!

@ivfdreaming yes and they also teach you about things like breastfeeding and with twins I probably will need all the help I can get with that. Partly it was a way to try to get my partner involved, has been quite disconnected from the whole thing, just relying on me to know everything.

@MorgenMuffel that's great news about your screening results! I can't believe you're so far along already! It's scary how fast this is going.

ValidUser · 18/08/2020 09:57

@RosettaR that's such a relief that it stopped!

My husband relied on me for all the IVF stuff, but he's started buying baby books and all now!

takingthistooseriously · 18/08/2020 10:17

@MorgenMuffel that's a relief! Glad you got good news too!

@RosettaR so glad to hear it has stopped

ValidUser · 18/08/2020 10:23

@ivfdreaming are you still waiting?

My next scan is tomorrow. Hoping our little creature is still doing well!

ivfdreaming · 18/08/2020 10:36

@ValidUser

Morning! I chased the clinic this morning and now they've come back and said the lab has reported there was insufficient DNA to be able to run the tests properly which means going back for the blood test again and another 2 week wait

Just feeling really upset and anxious now. It was a bad line but I think they said they had enough on one twin but not the other so panicking that it means something is wrong with one but they won't release the results for one twin it has to be both together

ValidUser · 18/08/2020 10:49

Aw @ivfdreaming that's so stressful.

ivfdreaming · 18/08/2020 12:41

Decided to pay privately to get the NT and combined test done on Saturday when I'll be 13+6 (which is the last day to get it done).
This was the test they couldn't do at my 12 week scan due to the wriggling but the private clinic said they'll just keep going until they get it.
Hopefully this will give me some peace of mind in case we get another no result from the NIPT

Parkandride · 18/08/2020 13:32

Hi all, just joining and I can see a few familiar names from the ivf threads.

Got my first BFP 2 days ago but today was my official test day so it's feeling real. This was my 2nd FET after PGD IVF.

Scan booked for next week at 6weeks as I have a funny tube, not sure how much I'll see at that point but glad it's not too long to wait. Little worried about ectopic but trying to enjoy this part after the hideousness that is ivf!

Going to have a read and catch up with everyone!
