Yes I'm nearly half way 2 weeks will hopefully be more settled less anxious and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy

Pinktruffle · 08/07/2020 15:48

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow. I'm so nervous for my scan. Had a chat with my friend today who is a pediatric nurse. She pointed out that I as I was feeling mainly rolling movements rather than kicks, the reason I'm feeling less could be that the baby is getting bigger and has less room to do full turns in one and as the baby gets bigger I'll feel more kicking type movements.
This does seem logical and I'm trying to remain calm till Monday.

RestorationInsanity · 08/07/2020 16:04

Please try not to worry @Pinktruffle. I know that's easy to say and I'm no better (next Friday seems an age away!) but you've felt some movement and that is such a great great sign! At this point too, the baby is still so small that if it turns inwards and kicks and punches you wouldn't feel it anyway. I feel like mine mainly has its back outwards (as it did in the scan) which is why I get mainly rolls/lurches and only the occasional one off jab. I think at this stage having any movement at all is unusual for first timers rather than anything to be concerned by.

Pinktruffle · 08/07/2020 16:28

I know I'm being ridiculous @restorationinsanity. I think my previous miscarriage and all the fertility treatment has me on edge, I was doing really well and had been mostly positive for the past 6/7 weeks. I even encouraged DH to buy the Snuzpod because it was on sale and agreed to let my mum and dad buy us a cot and changing drawer unit. I need to stop as I know all this worrying is probably not good for the baby.

How are you all feeling about visitors? Particularly those who you know havent been shielding? I've been very diligent but have someone who is persistent about visiting on the weekend.

Amyyy1 · 08/07/2020 16:28

Marking my place on the new thread!

I haven't felt anything since I think I felt a little something the other day but I do have an anterior placenta so I'm sure nothing to worry about for now. So exciting lots of you are already feeling strong movements though!

EithneBlue · 08/07/2020 16:38

My 20 week scan was this afternoon (at 20+4) - all seems normal: baby is on the smaller side but given that both my husband and I are small that's not unexpected (just barely scraping in to a 'normal' centile apparently but assume my midwife will check measurements closely at check-ups). I ended up feeling incredibly anxious about it all this morning - most especially because I've still not got any kind of consistent movement -- but feeling much better now that everything seems OK (it took ages to look at the heart and legs - baby was curled right up in a corner and no amount of jumping would force the stubborn child to move). Apparently I have an anterior placenta which obviously totally explains why I'm still only intermittently feeling movement (I am feeling the baby but it's still kind of indistinct and... swishy - no firm kicks or 'oh, that's clearly the baby' movements).

No gender reveal for me: we didn't want any spoilers! Got to wait for that first peek at the baby ;-)

Pinktruffle · 08/07/2020 16:45

I'm glad it all went for your scan @EithneBlue. As you say, if DP and you are both small, it's likely the baby will be small. It's good that everything else is looking positive.

confused107 · 08/07/2020 16:50

Completely understand your anxiety @Pinktruffle I'm there too. Like others have said it's not common to feel regular movements at this stage. Whatever I can feel is very irregular and I'm not sure they are even movements.

RestorationInsanity · 08/07/2020 17:01

@Pinktruffle not ridiculous at all. I completely understand the impact baby loss and fertility treatment has on trying to enjoy a much longer for pregnancy (frankly I just want to wake up tomorrow 38 weeks pregnant so I can finally get hold of the baby!) And don't worry about stress, you're doing all you can to keep a safe little home for your baby and he or she will know how much she is loved!

@EithneBlue glad to hear all went well with the scan. All the details of size etc are another thing to worry about but as you say, if you and DH are small, and everything else looks good, perhaps you're just in for a petite little soul!

DH was 9.5 pounds (I was only 7lbs3). But we're both tall so I'm at least expecting a long babe, but hopefully not a giant one!

@Pinktruffle I'm making it increasingly clear that DH and I will have to become more rigorous as others become more relaxed. It's unfortunate but I'm not willing to take chances, mainly with not being able to access antenatal appointments or worse DH missing the birth because one of us has picked up symptoms.

peachypetite · 08/07/2020 17:13

I’m shitting myself about Friday now. I haven’t felt a single movement or flutter. Thank god it’s in the morning.

RosyCheeks93 · 08/07/2020 17:25

Hi ladies, I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and I've got my scan at 10am too! We're also deciding to find out what we're having. So excited!!!! 😊

lionsmum · 08/07/2020 17:57

Checking in on the new thread, thanks for keeping us going @ChampooPapi 👏🏼

place marking x

danielasummer · 08/07/2020 18:11

Thanks for the new thread @ChampooPapi 🥰

I was just wondering if anyone has been doing any pregnancy workouts? I mainly just walk my dog every day but today I found a 2nd trimester pregnancy workout on YouTube and really enjoyed it..got a sweat on and my heart rate increased, just hoping I can keep it up! X

Babyhope98 · 08/07/2020 18:29

Just caught up on the conversation from previous thread, I’ve been having lots of sex feel guilty now 🥴 doesn’t seem to be doing any harm, I do feel a bit uncomfortable when doing doggy style, sorry tmi. So may stop that but all seems well other than that. I did bleed in first trimester too but haven’t had any since so wasn’t sex related.

I am starting to feel the weight gain though I have put on 10 pounds, I have had such an appetite recently so I am not surprised and not for healthy things either.. so I am feeling a little self conscious sometimes I need to start some exercise me thinks x

RestorationInsanity · 08/07/2020 18:40

Don't feel guilty @Babyhope98! All recommendations say sex is fine (good even!) as long as you've not been told by a doctor or nurse not to. I keep trying to go to bed earlier so I'm not too tired for it! 😂

I know it's scary @peachypetite but the truth is at this stage of there was something really wrong it would be much more likely you would know. Nothing can allay the fear entirely except seeing the baby wriggle around on screen, but I'm sure you will be fine.

I have to wait til 3 o clock next Friday for mine! It's going to be a long day!

@danielasummer I've been doing my regular yoga class throughout, plus walking and general movement to keep my activity levels up. Am going to try going running again this week, but may take a while to get used to with a bump!

ChampooPapi · 08/07/2020 18:40

Waves @lionsmum and @danielasummer 😘

@EithneBlue I understand the worry, I don't feel anything either, bit so so normal with an anterior placenta. So pleased and relieved everything was good regarding all your little ones vitals and organs, and it definitely is completely spot on for a smaller/shorter baby to measure small due to their lineage. It can go either way of course with small parents having a six footer by 18, but often of course it's genetics so they are measuring small due to that

Hi, I hope you all don’t mind me joining this. I’m 18+2 with my 3rd. I already have a boy and a girl who are teenagers from a previous relationship. My partner has a 5yr old and we decided we wanted a child together. Last autumn I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks and i have been very nervous about this pregnancy. It sounds so silly now but I just let delaying contacting a midwife so didn’t register until I was 15weeks.

I have since had bloods taken by a midwife at local hospital and a telephone booking appointment with midwife from my DR surgery and on Monday I had a dating scan which showed a lovely baby with nice heartbeat and kicking it’s legs. They said my dates were fine and gave me due date of 8th December. I have 20 week scan in a fortnight. I know I will feel nervous before but the scan couple days has helped reassure me.

I was only 20 when gave birth to my oldest and this time I will be 37 so gone from being a younger mum to an older one! I found out with my other 2 what sex they were at 20 week scan and I thought a surprise would be nice this time but my partner was wanting to find out and I thought only fair he gets that as he is missing the NHS scans so didn’t get to see baby moving around when I did. We have booked a private one for a couple weeks time though and I am now wanting to find out the sex of this little one.

👣 Due Nov/Dec 👣 it's the 20 week scans! 👣
chubbyhotchoc · 08/07/2020 18:49

I'm bricking it for Monday as well. I had a call from the hospital to say my husband could come too but I made the mistake of saying to him I've been to all the others alone and he feels like if he goes to this it'll jinx it. He now won't come😕
@ChampooPapi I didn't see your update on your scan. How was it?

On another note, has anyone filled in a pregnancy journal keepsake type thing? I did one with my dd ( too much time on my hands clearly ) and really haven't had time what with homeschooling and being really poorly in the first trimester. I feel guilty now. My mum says cant do something for one and not the other. I'm going to have to order one aren't I ? 🙄

chubbyhotchoc · 08/07/2020 18:52

@alphabetti welcome. This is mine and dh's first 'ours' baby too. I also had a missed miscarriage right before this one so understand your nerves. Lovely scan pic!

RestorationInsanity · 08/07/2020 18:55

Don't worry @chubbyhotchoc. My mum had so little time to do baby records for me because she also had a 6 year old that I believed my brother for years that I was adopted 😂 when I was 16 my mum and grandma put together an album of photos of me from when I was born until I was 16, including my mum holding me in her hospital bed! It was wonderful, such a treasure, and I understand why she didn't have time when I was little. I was never any less loved!

Bettie2192 · 08/07/2020 19:01

I’ll be 20 weeks next Wednesday, scan is the day after :) I remember when it was first booked and it felt like a lifetime away!

1stbabs · 08/07/2020 19:03

@alphabetti hey, congratulations. I've also been very nervous and didn't let any of my family know until my scan this week! Glad you're feeling reassured by seeing your little one on Monday ☺️ x

lc86 · 08/07/2020 19:14
