@Babyhope98 That's a great picture! :) Glad all was well!
My movement isn't really increasing yet - it's still a bit sporadic and indistinct -- I suspect the combination of a smaller baby and an anterior placenta means that it'll be a couple more weeks before that changes.

lc86 · 10/07/2020 16:08

@Babyhope98 I keep feeling that down below and not sure if it's baby moving or not as I don't think I've felt him yet, 19 weeks Sunday x

firstbabybell · 10/07/2020 16:09

@babyhope98 beautiful pic! 🥰

@restorationinsanity @ethneblue I even Tweeted the Royal Collage of Midwives a link to the thread as I felt it was important they were aware of women's experiences but guess what... no response!

@babyhope98 beautiful scan picture

Here's my bump 19+1. Today is the first day I've felt pregnant. Think it's this dress as to be honest I've always looked a bit pregnant in it even when I wasn't!

A couple of days ago I started feeling lots of movement but it seems to have really slowed down the last couple of days. Keep telling myself not to panic as everything I've read says it's not likely to be consistent at this stage but I can't help it. Roll on the scan next Thursday

Babyhope98 · 10/07/2020 16:46

Thank you all ladies 🥰 mine was an interior placenta so this may have helped me movement wise it’s only in the last few days I’ve felt more, i just felt them now and again before. But it seems like most of you haven’t felt movements yet so I wouldn’t worry. I think she is quite active too 😅 she may be a handful.. X

PipTed · 10/07/2020 17:47

All your bumps and scans look great!

Just seen all the comments about midwives and I am so, so disappointed, as a lot of you are. It’s all been quite efficient until recently.

But I text last Sunday to let her know about my funny turn and if I should go to the hospital, heard nothing back.

I then contacted her to let her know i had my scan and that all was well, asking whether I would have a 24 week appointment over the phone or face to face with her. I also asked about my blood group results and the results of a urine test I had (taken three weeks ago) as well as when I will receive my mat-b 1.

Haven’t heard a thing. If I don’t hear anything by Monday I’m going to have to call the hospital and ask what the hell is going on. I did try to ask at the hospital at my scan, but they said to ask my midwife. So I’m really worried that I’m not getting the care I should.

PipTed · 10/07/2020 17:56

Sorry, needed to vent. 🙈 other than that I feel good. So good that most of us can feel movement now!!! Makes it fee more real.

The baby seems to be rolling round, more than kicking, most evenings. Oh Still hasn’t been able to feel it though. Those who have been lucky to, did your partner sit with their hand on your stomach for a while or was it quite sporadic?

Pinktruffle · 10/07/2020 18:27

Vent away @Pipted, my midwifery care has been none existent. I've never seen my midwife and don't even have a named one! A midwife did call me for my booking in appointment and said I could message the mobile number if I needed anything but has not replied to a text yet, including a text telling the midwife I was bleeding and what should I do? I lost any faith in the service at that point.

This is my little bump, I'm 20+1. Please ignore the t-shirt, its DH's and is comfy!

peachypetite · 10/07/2020 18:37

Hi all, I agree about the inconsistency. I am like @EithneBlue won’t have had any urine or blood checks etc since first trimester until 28 weeks! It’s so hands off.
I honestly felt such anxiety before but was so relieved to find everything looks normal regarding the baby. Only thing is that I have a low lying placenta so I have been booked for another scan in 12 weeks to check the position. Hope it moves on its own! I wasn’t even slightly tempted to find out the sex, just over the moon that all the main organs are fine. I haven’t felt any movements yet (it’s also anterior) so that explains why and it was lovely seeing baby so active on the screen despite not being able to feel anything yet. I’m actually feeling completely shattered, think it’s all the relief coming out after being a nervous wreck this week.

PipTed · 10/07/2020 19:05

@Pinktruffle @peachypetite it’s almost like the whole covid business is an excuse for us to be treated like this. If anything we need more contact, due to the anxieties it brings! I can’t help but think we’re getting lost in a black hole and those who were pregnant before and after us will have only seen the affects for part of their pregnancies- we’re the unlucky ones that have experienced it throughout ( so far ).

I’ve only had one set of bloods taken too, at booking/12 week scan. And, I STILL don’t have my blood group results from that! 🙈

@Peachypetite great news about your scan and that its relieved some anxieties, and glad you weren’t tempted to find out the gender. Nice little surprise!

PipTed · 10/07/2020 19:07

@Pinktruffle fab bump too! Mine is out of control at the moment, having a huge growth spurt. Need to give it a few days to see if it’s wind or the baby, before I post a pic. 😂

RestorationInsanity · 10/07/2020 21:39

Congratulations @peachypetite. Hope your placenta gets into a different position but wonderful that baby is well.

@PipTed I'm sorry you feel so let down and they aren't even answering questions related to your immediate health and well-being. That's just unacceptable. Do you have a good GP or a 24 hour line you can call? I've basically been told not to really contact my named midwife as she's very busy and just to ring that general midwifery number, including when I go into labour.

Babyhope98 · 10/07/2020 21:43

My midwife care has been poor too, she never replies to my messages about worries. Even no reply when I asked her how I’d go about changing my antenatal care to my new area, my sister said she sorted it through her midwife. Don’t know why they bothered giving me her number. I’m hoping my new area will provide a better service they seemed good today x

PipTed · 10/07/2020 21:52

@RestorationInsanity I changed GP about 4 months prior to falling pregnant with this baby, and when I have called (with my previous miscarriage) they seem to just want to refer me to the midwife or the maternity department at hospital.

Midwife has previously been really helpful and responsive, so not sure why the drastic change? I’ve not been advised of any handovers in care, but I’ll try the advice line next week I think to see if anyone else can help.

peachypetite · 11/07/2020 05:55

Thanks ladies. I’m just going to see it as a bonus chance to have another scan and look at the baby, it most likely will move and if it doesn’t I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I guess it would also be good for me to do a bit more research into c-sections and not solely focus on having a water birth in the birthing centre.

kkr168 · 11/07/2020 06:43

I felt the baby move this morning, it's so reassuring, had a little happy cry! I've thought I've felt the baby move a couple of times but it was always as I was drifting off or waking up & just the 1 kick, so I'd convinced myself I'd imagined it. This morning was an unmistakable multiple kicks, over & over.
I'm 20+2 with an anterior placenta, 2nd baby, for those that like the little details (I know I do)

MummyShark97 · 11/07/2020 11:38

@kkr168 Congratulations !!! Getting baby to perform for DH is another matter haha x

EithneBlue · 11/07/2020 14:08

21 weeks today: rounding out a little bit 😂

Missworry92 · 11/07/2020 18:06

Aww ladies your bumps look amazing! Sounds like all of us are starting to feel the little movements which is great.
My midwife is ignoring all my texts also but about a month ago when I had a phone conversation with her she said just message me if you have any questions, that's really annoying.
What do you ladies think of this car seat? My friend has recommended it to me and it's on sale at the moment but wanted your opinion too please

Fantastic bumps ladies! All gorgeous and all as beautiful as the one before Smile

Love that we are getting through these pregnancies now, next goal is 30 weeks really isn't it!

hit 20 weeks today which feels great and an active little baby telling me he's still there!

Going to take some more bump pics tonight and look forward to seeing any difference since 18 weeks

chubbyhotchoc · 11/07/2020 21:22

My 20 week scan is Monday. Just had a thought, do we need to drink water for this one?

peachypetite · 11/07/2020 21:22

@chubbyhotchoc I hadn’t drank anything and it was fine.

EithneBlue · 11/07/2020 21:47

@chubbyhotchoc I was actually told to have an empty bladder for this one :-)

Hanrora06 · 11/07/2020 22:02

I'm surprised that people have got direct numbers of midwives. I've seen a few people say this now, i don't think that's ever been a thing. I do have a community midwife but I've never met her, I did speak to her at my 16 week phone call but she wasn't there for my 12 week. Tbf I'm moving soon so it won't matter but still I think it's interesting... though I won't feel too bad if people aren't even getting responses to their messages. I've learned more from my pregnancy books and the Internet so far!
