llots of good news with scans.

Thanks for all of those who advised a scan. I have decided to wait over the weekend and see what happens. I am guessing the EPU is closed over the weekend anyway. Neither the doc or MW I saw suggested going for one, so I am trying to think that they know what they are talking about and think I don't need one. Also I am too scared to have one really. Last time I went to EPU it was bad news so...

tc1978 · 06/10/2007 10:19

Hi,
New to mumsnet.
Had a mmc at 14 weeks nearly 2 years ago now.
Had a ds in Jan this year and am now 5 weeks pregnant again.
Thought I would be more confident after having ds but not at all. Sooo scared that I am going to lose this little one and am not sure that I will get the same amount of care that I got with ds (2 early scans)
Going to see doctor for first time on Tues and not sure what to say to her as trying not to be a wierd emotional wreck.....

becklespookle · 06/10/2007 12:09

Morning all, hope everyone is well! Congrats on the good scans Positive & G43!
Hama, hope everything is okay with you, sending you {{{hugs}}}. Brown blood is definitely still good, especially if not accompanied by any pain. I understand you not wanting to go to EPU, scans can be very traumatic, but it may just set your mind at ease a little.
Rubles - congrats on the birth of Isla!
Ejt - Mairwen is beautiful (as is your DS), well done you! Hope the BF settles down soon.
Hi tc1978, welcome to the thread! You are brave having 2 so close together! It is natural to worry about m/c when you have had one in the past, I think it takes away the innocent excitement of early pg. Tell the doc your fears and hopefully you will get the care that you want/need. I had a mmc at 12.5 weeks (found out at 15.5) before I had my DSs and then both pgs with them were fine, it is hard sometimes to believe that nothing will go wrong but you will get wonderful support on here from ladies who have all been through similar things.

I dreamed last night that I had my baby but that I slept through the birth. This is the second time I have dreamed about sleeping through the birth (probably wishful thinking!), in both dreams the baby was a little smaller than I expected (8lb 9oz last night, smaller than my boys were) and also a girl. Plus I was also at home in my own bed - very odd. (In last night's one I was actually having twins but the boy was breech, didn't want to turn around and the labour had stopped so they were going to let him stay in there a bit longer - strange the dreams a preggy brain gives you!)

tizzwhizz · 06/10/2007 20:26

Hi All

Hope everyone is having a good day today.

Hama - Hope you are doing ok, sending positive vibes

Welcome tc1978 it isnt easy but really think you should go and talk to your doctor. You could ask about the possibility of an early scan that reassured goingfor3 if you read her post. That might help to reasure you. Hope things go well.

Had a gp appointment this week for a midwife referral. She worked edd out as June 6th. Seems a long way off. Have just told family and because of the job I do will have to tell work. Have told people we arent talking about it until after first scan though. Think they probably think that a bit over the top but feel like I dont want to tempt fate.

hamabeads · 07/10/2007 11:26

Morning to everyone. I hope all is well with you.

More bad news from me though. Last night before bed I had pinkish stain on the toilet paper when wiping. Nothing first thing this morning but about an hour after getting up I then had a brown/red stain on my pad. Things are nto looking good I think.

Is it best to go to GP or A&E tomorrow morning do you think - which will be best for getting a scan quickly without lots of hanging about with DS?

tizzwhizz · 07/10/2007 12:11

Hama - Dont know if it will be the same situation but when I had my first visit in June to gynae they told me if bleeding continued or got worse to go to A&E and they would refer me over. So maybe quicker to go to A&E. But dont hold me to it I am sure there will be people along with more knowledge to help. I really hope everything works out for you, Sorry to hear whats happening.

EllieG · 07/10/2007 15:39

Great news positive and goingfor3! Really happy for you.

Hama - from my experience, is not so quick getting things via GP. A&E might be quicker (they were for my mate who had bleeding). Hope all is OK - thinking of you x

tc1978 - welcome here, though am sorry you have to be if you see what I mean. Like someone else said, I don't think you ever have that innocently PG thing again once you have a MC, and your feelings are entirely natural and normal. Speak to an understanding GP and explain, and they should take care of you. Remember you have nothing to worry about yet, and use this thread whenever you need to. x

torres · 07/10/2007 17:48

Hi ladies, I'm after a bit of advice as I'm having a major panic.

I have had bad nausea since 5 weeks and have been vomiting at least 5 times a day. On friday this all stopped very suddenly and since then I've felt fine, and worryingly, not even hungry whereas the past few weeks I've needed to eat constantly to cope.

I'm only 8+2 which seems really early for the ms to stop, and the way it's stopped so suddenly has really freaked me, and I'm having flashbacks to my missed mc.

I'm going to the doctors tomorrow and to try and get referred for an early scan.

Has anyone heard of this happenning and there being a positive outcome?

DonDons · 07/10/2007 18:49

Hama - in my experience(s) both A&E and GP referral were exactly the same - I had to wait a couple of days to get the scan but both referred me straight away - although the A&E included a 4 hour wiat before I could see the doctor (whereas with the GP all I had to do was speak to the on call doctor on the telephone). Have you tried the EPU directly? When I had my bleed at 11 weeks they told me I could phone them up directly if it happened again... might be worth a try - not sure if this changes from hospital to hospital. Hope it all goes well for you.

Torres - my MS started at 6 weeks and then stopped at 8 weeks for a day or so - same thing - didn't feel hungry or anything - then it was back with a vengence after 2 days and 5 weeks later it still comes and goes.... I know it sounds easy to say and you will worry anyway but try and make the most of the good days and don't worry unless you get any serious pains... (NB my scan at 11 weeks was fine) xx

torres · 07/10/2007 19:55

Dondons- thank you so much for posting, that's given me a ray of hope to cling onto until I can get scanned. I've been sitting here stuffing myself (an entire bar of green and blacks and a large choccie brownie) and think I'm going to watch some crap TV to try and distract myself. Oh to be sick again!

Hama- good luck for your scan, will be thinking of you

hamabeads · 07/10/2007 20:26

Thanks for good luck vibes. Not sure if I have a number for EPU - will google in a min.. I want to avoid a long wait at A&E so maybe just see GP in morning (if I can get an appointment)

MrsMcJnr · 07/10/2007 20:36

Hey ladies back from hols and attempting to catch up. Hope everyone?s well!

Mumpbump · 07/10/2007 20:38

Hello everyone! Quick post from me whilst ds2 is sleeping on dh!

Congratulations to Rubles! Sounds fairly traumatic, but pleased to hear that everything worked out in the end...

Hama - I second EllieG's suggestion of going to an EPU. If your local hospital don't have one, then I would go directly to the A&E in the morning. They are unlikely to be that busy on a Monday morning and the best a doctor can do is refer you for a scan so you will have to go to the hospital anyway, but will have to wait twice over iyswim.

Glimmer and Jossie - congratulations to you on your new-found status! Can't believe that you are getting close to your due dates now. You're both on the home stretch now! Let us know how you get on with the antenatal classes, Glimmer.

Hello to everyone else. Sorry I can't post more, but have loads of housework to do yet before my "early" night... I see there have been a few positive scan results. Hope that trend continues...

hamabeads · 08/10/2007 09:51

In the end I phoned the antenatal clinic at the hospital who put me through to the EPU. I have an appointment at 11 oclock this morning. I am terrified.

tizzwhizz · 08/10/2007 09:55

Hi

Just a quick one to wish you luck Hama.

Hope everyone ok.

Will catch up later.

goingfor3 · 08/10/2007 09:58

Good luck hamabeads, I had a pinkish discharge for a couple of days last week and the scan showed that the baby was there and they gave me some progesterone to keep everything more stable. Fingers crossed all goes well for you.

EllieG · 08/10/2007 10:06

Thinking of you hamabeads and torres x

Janus · 08/10/2007 10:35

Morning ladies!
Rubles, a huge congratulations to you and welcome to little Isla, hope you are enjoying her!
Positive, well done on your scan too, what a relief to be even further ahead too!
Hama, I so hope your scan goes well today, as others have said, I had bleeding in my second pregnancy but she's now 4! Good luck.
Torres, I am exactly the same as you. I am 8+5 and have had horrible sickness for 2+ weeks now (sick a few times but feel sick from about midday until midnight). Suddenly yesterday it stopped, gulp. I had a missed mc last time, they reckon around 8+4 so now I'm a mess. Never thought I'd miss the sickness. However, I'm trying to be positive, maybe it will come back? I don't know, I have a scan in 2 weeks so I will have to try and keep going until then. But, last time, I felt fine nearly all the way through those early days, maybe a little bit tired but certainly ate everything, had lots more energy, never felt sick once, etc, I'm hoping the really bad sickness this time and falling asleep every night before 9pm is a good sign! Lots of people tell me that if you feel sick early on this is a very good sign, something to do with lots of estrogen (or something!) flying around your body, showing that your body is really trying to look after the baby. Fingers crossed for both of us.

nh101 · 08/10/2007 12:27

Goingfor3 I am so thay you have had your scan! Mine is not till next Monday when I will be seven weeks.

Torres, hama - thinking of you, hoping everything turns out OK x

hamabeads · 08/10/2007 12:54

Hi,

I am back - after a long wait I had my scan and saw a heartbeat! I am in shock, was convinced all was lost.

EllieG · 08/10/2007 13:02

Hurray! Fab news hama

feedmenow · 08/10/2007 13:16

Thats wonderful hama! Did anyone offer any suggestion about the cause of the bleeding?

hamabeads · 08/10/2007 13:20

No the doc I saw said it can happen and offered no reason. She didn't seem to good. i told her I didn't have any pain twice and she finihse doff telling me to take paraceetamol for the pain
