Hi all... just wanted to pop in and see how everybody is doing - and to let you know about pronunciation and translation of dd's name!

Mairwen is pronounced Mire-wen (with a rolled-r): Mair is the Welsh for Mary, which means "longed-for child" - wen means blessed or fair (and, as she's very dark, it'll have to be blessed!!)

Grug is pronounced Greeg - and means "Heather" - which is MIL's name ....

so there you go!

I have posted my birth story on the October post-natal thread if you want to read it.

Right, have got to go - coccyx pain and stitches do not make for comfortable sitting!

ejt1764 · 05/10/2007 12:46

have just posted some pictures of Mairwen on my profile!

tizzwhizz · 05/10/2007 12:52

Congratulations ejt

hamabeads · 05/10/2007 13:05

drat

EllieG · 05/10/2007 13:49

Sorry hamabeads - maybe give the epu a call?

How was the scan positive?

ejit - gorgeous, gorgeous little girl! She looks lovely and I do like her name, is beautiful

gingercat12 · 05/10/2007 14:18

Ejt Beautiful little girl!!!

Hamabeads Please, go to EPU or GP as soon as you can. We are all thinking of you.

Bouncingturtle Ever since you mentioned "Dream a little dream", I hum it along. LOL

MerlinsBeard · 05/10/2007 14:23

hama please get in touch with your epu and explain this to them. brown blood is old blood and usually nothing to worry about but you obviously are worried.

Just a really quick note to add myself to the list of graduates and apologise for leaving it so long before telling you all that I had dd2 last week, not long after coming away from the internet cafe to post on here!

My waters went with the most spectacular bang about an hour after getting home from the internet cafe. It felt like I had been punched in the stomach it was so forceful. After that I had a stressful time trying to call the midwife and dp, crawling down the stairs on all fours to let the m/w in, and then about 10 minutes later getting urges to push. I did hope i would be delivering soon after that, but no.... in a nutshell her head was angled to the side, so i had to spend long periods of time not pushing, which was deeply unpleasant, to try and get her to turn correctly. After about 3 ish hours of this her heart beat was decelerating and she passed fresh meconium so we decided to transfer into hospital (it was a planned homebirth btw) - all the while being told not to push on any account (AGONY!!). Anyway, something must have shifted in the ambulance as I pushed her out in within 10 minutes of getting to the delivery room and she was very healthy and well.
It wasn't the most easy of births, although only 6 hours long it was 6 gruelling, and at times scary hours. However, I think this is all made up for by the fact that she is such an amazingly chilled out and easy baby & the breast feeding is going really well.

I SO wish i could get onto the internet at home, not having a connection at home is like having a limb removed, but hopefully only another week or two before that is rectified.

It's ejb next...

Oh, can I just add a ps here. For those of you coming up to having your first babies, I don't want you to feel put off or scared by what i have written. My first baby was delivered at home and was a complete dream compared to this one, it was just one of those things.

Glimmer · 05/10/2007 14:29

Oh Rubles, how exciting! Congratulations and a big hello to Isla! Sorry it was scary at times, but what good news that things shifted in the way to the hospital! I am planning a homebirth, too, so know what you must have gone through deciding to transfer...

EJB -- it's official now: you are the Grand Dame of the thread with me being Grand-Dame in waiting....

EJT -- looked for your birth storym but can't find it...

EllieG · 05/10/2007 15:16

Yey rubles! Beautiful name, and glad all is going well

Bouncingturtle · 05/10/2007 15:44

Congrats Rubles, so pleased that you and Isla (love the name) are doing well... we hope you get your internet soon. However did people survive without it!
EJT - What a gorgeous little girl! And your ds is a little charmer - glad he is enjoying his role as the big brother.
Hama - yes please go to your EPU! I had this kind of bleeding for 3 weeks during my current pg, it turned out to be nothing, but wished I had it checked out anyway to save a lot of needless worrying!
Hi to everyone else

Glimmer · 05/10/2007 15:56

Oh correction: Jossie and I are Grand Dames in waiting. I am so glad I am not the only one due in Nov....

EJT found your birthstory thanks for sharing! And what a beautiful little lady she is. I love the name, too. Hope the breastfeeding will go smoother soon.

Hi to everybody else...

positive · 05/10/2007 17:11

Hi everyone,

went for my scan/booking in appt today. From my early scan I was 12 +3 but told today that i'm 13 +3. Saw LO jumping about and I mean jumping about on the screen today, such a relief

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their support and kind words, got me through the past few weeks.

now going to read the posts for today, had to post my news first

good vibes and positive thoughts

feedmenow · 05/10/2007 17:14

ejt, that piccie of you and Mairwen is just beautiful! And she is so cute, with a little turned-up ski-jump nose!! You must be so proud!
I wanted to ask if it would still be possible for me to borrow your vbac cd? If yes, I'll email my address, but don't worry if it isn't convenient.......

Rubles, sounds scary, but at least all is well now and you have your lovely little girlie in your arms! Imagine if your waters had "popped" at the internet cafe .....

As for me, I am pretty sure I felt an actual kick on Wednesday night. My tummt felt odd so I had my hand pushed against it, and I felt an obvious sudden something! But it is over so quickly that I doubt myself! I guess it won't be long til I feel it often, though, and then there won't be any doubt!

Positive, hope the scan went well?

Hama, hope the bleeding has stopped. Best get it checked out for reassurance....

Everyone else well?

feedmenow · 05/10/2007 17:15

Positive, crossed posts! Glad eveything went well. Time to add yourself to the edd stats list now!

goingfor3 · 05/10/2007 17:17

Hello Ladies,

I had a scan today and saw my tiny baby with a heartbeat. I'm nearly six weeks. I have also been prescribed Cylogest for the next 6 weeks, has anyone else had this?

fettleandbabyfettle · 05/10/2007 17:53

Rubles - congratulations!! So glad Isla arrived well after a difficult labour - hope to hear from you more soon.

Great news on the scans!!!

Hama - get a scan to reassure you.

hi everyone else - not quite a speed one-handed typer yet, so better go!!!

siameez · 05/10/2007 18:03

Jossiejump · 05/10/2007 20:46

OMG-I can't believe I am a Grande Dame in waiting!!!
Time went so slowly at first, now where has it gone?
Hope that encourages those at the start of their pg, who feel as I did that 33 weeks would never come!

MerlinsBeard · 05/10/2007 21:08
