Hi everyone,
Positive, I read about your Downs result, as you say though 1 in 90 is a very low percentage but you just want everything to be straightforward, don't you. I hope you get some more answers in scans to come and good luck.
Feedmenow, I break my pregnancy down exactly the same as you do, definitely helps in getting through the early weeks. I got through the 6 week scan and then held on until the 12 week scan and that was a big milestone. I was so tempted to go for a scan somewhere in the middle but you can't go every time you have a worry, I'd be there every other day else! I looked at dopplers on ebay today, considering buying one, is it easy to use? I have another scan tomorrow so decided I would wait and see what that shows and then consider buying one.
Gingercat, glad you have a good midwife, much prefer a 'no-nonsense' one, they somehow instill their confidence in you.
Kasha, welcome although sorry about your mc in August. Why not book the scan now for the future, at least it would be in your diary and you'd know exactly how long until first scan, etc. Could help you hold on it there when days are tough. Good luck.
I have started telling school mums, etc, this week as I'm 13 weeks and pretty big. I feel really nervous telling them though incase something still goes wrong. I have my scan tomorrow to see if I need a stitch and I'm nervous all over again. All the nagging worries in the back of my mind. Another rubbish night's sleep ahead for me! Wish me luck! Goingfor3, will let you know what my consultant says, sorry you didn't get to see yours this week, how often will you have to get scanned now then?
Hello to everyone else.

Bouncingturtle · 09/11/2007 07:23

Hi everyone!
Kasha - welcome to knickercheckers anonymous and congrats on your bfp. It makes me so when some EPUs won't give early scans for people who have had m/c. Are you going to try for a private one?
No news from MrsMc, hope she is okay!

spugs · 09/11/2007 09:53

kasha-congrats on your bfp i had a private scan and was able to be seen the next day (i had it 2 days later in the end) so i wouldnt worry about leaving it a while. or ring and ask what the average wait is.

positive-i bought a crib set at 16 weeks and organised my pushchair a couple of weeks ago before i had my scan. im trying not to buy everything in one go and spread it out, though i did get some pink sleep suits on wed when we found out its a girl.
im also watching ebay for any bargins so i dont see the harm in starting early.

im feeling very positive about this bubba now, it kicks constantly which i find massivly reasuring.

makecakesnotwar · 09/11/2007 10:33

Kasha- congrats and welcome to the house of paranoia/happiness !!!

Positive- I confess I've been ebaying since about 5 weeks and pretty much done now.....sad but true- think I have OCD . I can't bring myself to buy clothes though. And everyone keeps telling me not to buy too many of those beacuse you will be inundated after the birth. I have a 'master list' I wrote for a client a few years ago which will give you an idea- happy to email it to you if it would help.

Morning all-11+1 today, edging ever nearer to 12 (or 13, to be on the cautious side. Then I'll start breathing...) God I wish it was June!!!

feedmenow · 09/11/2007 12:48

Hi everyone.

Janus, I find the doppler easy to use. I got an Angel SOunds one for about £33 inc. postage. At first I would worry if I didn't pick up the h/beat immediately but soone realised how much the bubba is moving around so to give it a little time! I also had one very scary time when I had left it switched on and deaded the battery so I was getting NOTHING!!! Obviously panicked until I realised the battery was dead!!

Congrats and welcome to Kasha! With private scans it depends entirely on where you are and how well known the clinic is I think. But saying that, I only actually have experience of 2 clinics myself! Mind you, both were quite quick - one offerd me an appt in about 5 days and the other was able to do a same day slot for me.

Positive, I find it amsuing at times how human beings work when faced with odds. Like you say, the same stats, say 1:100, can be great odds in one situation yet awful odds in another! Do you think it's a case of glass half full/half empty? Anyway, I know it must be awfully worrying for you and it is certainly extra stress you could do without during pg. But everything will be OK, honest

MrsMcJnr · 09/11/2007 16:25

Hey ladies happy Friday ? this week has seemed soooo long!

Makecakesnotwar ? how lovely to have cousins so close in age I?d love to see your master list please and see what I?m missing! email is Amanda dot moore figure one at tesco dot net thanks! what do you do?

P2b ? poor you, your experience was so awful hon last time round, I lost my baby at 10 weeks and we?d had 3 scans by then too, some good, some iffy and it was still an awful shock. Sending hugs and positive vibes for this time round xx

Positive ? sorry that things are not great hon hope everything is much clearer and more positive at your 20 week scan you?ve got 89 chances to 1 that it will be fine ? I?d take that to the bookies . Healthy and well Personally, I waited to buy things until after the 20 week scan and since then I have been researching and buying all the time happy to share my list that I?ve compiled from MN threads with you if you like, email me on Amanda dot moore figure one at tesco dot net

Feedmenow ? 22 weeks! Wow! hope the scan goes well. That must have been stressful with DS.

Beckle sorry to worry you hon, I?m fine just really busy everywhere it feels and haven?t had much time to post. Lovely to be cared about though and thanks for posting about the playmats how are you keeping?

Welcome Kasha and congratulations sorry about your sad story pg after mc is hard but we?ll help you through! I know what you mean about having to phone to cancel a scan appointment, that happened to me too but at the end of the day we both know that it wasn?t that way because we had booked it in the first place so book one and get peace of mind

Lovelylou fab hon.

Dondons ? you sound very pregnant! hope you are feeling better.

Goingfor3 ? you can get a few new things can?t you?!

Janus- hope the scan goes well today

Sorry to worry you too Bouncing ? I?m fine, just have lots of work to get done, mat leave starts 6 weeks today and people are beginning to realise that!! How is work with you? Things ok?

Spugs ? you are sounding so good it?s fab.

Hello Gingercat

cece · 09/11/2007 16:38

just checking in - not much news here.

positvie - I know how you feel. had a bad week outselves with our NTS result. I am very of the extra scans. I haven't been offered any.

goingfor3 · 09/11/2007 18:41

Hello all,

I have to say I'm feeling a bit peed of at the moment. DP's parents came last weekend and told us that one of dp's cousins is pregnant 'isn't that exciting' I said nothing, one of dp's cousins had a baby a couple of days ago and mil just sent me an email saying that she had had her baby and if I wantewd to send a card here is the adress. I am happy for both of them and knew about the pregnancy because mil sent dp an email about it a few days before seeing us and know about the other cousin having the baby because she herself told me and sent me some pictures. I am however very upset with my il's total lack of compassion considering dp and I lost our baby qute recently, I can't really think of a way they could have phrased it but it hurt. They do not know I'm pregnant and I am just ranting and am in a particually hormal over emotional mood today and it's just good to let off some steam!

Janus · 09/11/2007 20:12

Goingfor3, sorry you feel so down. People can be so insensitive, which your inlaws are being if they don't know you are pregnant now. TBH though I found quite a few people saying things when we had lost our last which got to me but I don't think people thought for a moment that it would hurt. (My classic mil moment was 2 days after my mc she rang to say (I quote) 'what did you do wrong?'!!, don't think she meant it how it came out in her defence!). I really don't think anyone who hasn't been through a mc can truly understand the depth of feelings that you are left with. I'm so sorry and hope you manage to sweep the comments aside. How are you feeling otherwise?
What would we all do without ebay??! I am buying lots of maternity clothes through ebay, very basic stuff but much cheaper than in the shops. Am still looking at the doppler on there, can't make up my mind.
MrsMc, glad you are well even if you are so busy. Good to hear your birth should be a natural one, good luck!
My scan was very good today. Apparently I have a 5cm cervix (TMI!!!) which is more than adequate to cope with the baby so should require no stitch. They will scan every so often to make sure it remains the same but the lady didn't think there should be a problem. What a relief!! Little one was all over the place again, is going to be a mover!
Hope you all have good weekends, take care.

goingfor3 · 09/11/2007 21:25

Janus I'm so happy to hear you have plenty of cervix! Hopefully you can relax now and have a stress fee pregnancy. I few hours after having my first mc my il's visited me in hospital and told us it was for the best and dp and I could get to know each other as a couple know. I was so hurt hearing that just hours after watching the baby die and it has made me super sensitive towards any comment they make now. I haven't told them I'm pregnant because \I can't face the thought of hearing any comments like that again if something goes wrong, I would not want them to know.

Bouncingturtle · 10/11/2007 10:09

Goingfor3 - poor you, you are still feeling pretty raw and are still grieving, I think this is something that is very hard to understand if you haven't been through a m/c. I remember similar comments after I had mine
Janus - that sounds like good news, and it is great they are still giving you regular scans. Sounds like you and bean are getting lots of TLC.
MrsMc - Glad to hear from you! IKWYM about being busy, fortunately I only have a week to go!
Hi Cece, good to hear from you too. No news is good news, glad everything is very uneventful.
Makecakes - ebay is fab! I'll tell you something very useful for all you ebayers, for a while I've belonged to a survey panel called Lightspeed, and you get points for every survey you do which you can convert to Paypal credit. I reckon I've had about £20 this year which has all been spent on ebay!
It's been mainly maternity wear, but I also bought new covers and sheets for the Moses basket plus my foetal monitor.

feedmenow · 10/11/2007 15:28

MrsMc do I remember right that you started a thread a few weeks ago about sensor matt monitors in Natures Nests?

Just wanted to find out if you ever got an answer? I desperately want a Nest, but also really want a monitor with a sensor matt!! Can I have both....?

Uki · 11/11/2007 08:17

Hi all

been lurking a bit but not posted for ages sorry.
TBH i can't work out this new format, I have tried to change it back to old style but twice failed i feel like an old person who likes to live in the past, coz i just want it back how it was!!!

Positive- sorry to hear of higher risk for ds, thinking healthy for your beany and hoping you can enjoy your pg a bit more - I think you definitely should go buy some cute baby items now!!! lots of singlets and wraps are most needed first, and all in ones.

spugs - congrat's on the girl, are you going to buy a few new things even though you have clothes, I had too, even though i had plenty too, just wanted LL to wear different things I guess, he has grown sooo fast though he didn't wear much of ds's newborn clothes anyway.

p2b- wishing you a safe and happy pg

Have I missed any babies lately? seems like ages since ejt's (hope i got that right) one little letter could be wrong sorry if it is ejb

all well here, LL now looks like a 6 month old although only 3 - so big and alert, he is very cuddly, and copes well in meetings, I've had three so far, but not quite as well as 1.5 hour baptism today. Not sure i'll subject him or me to that again, thinking about an informal thing though.

healthy happy vibes to all,

where's the list, who's next??????

Uki · 11/11/2007 08:25

Yayy!! i managed to change it, i forgot to click the classic button before. so much easier to catch up the old way (for me anyway)

Bouncingturtle · 11/11/2007 08:40

Hi Uki! No more babies atm, thought it was about time we had another reminder though. Glimmer will be any day now! Haven't heard from her though, maybe she came early?

Hi all and welcome to all the newly joined!
Lovely Lou, I am especially pleased for you -- I remember you from the molar-thread and since it was suspected I had had a molar pregnancy for a while I know a little what you went through .... I hope so much, everything will go well this time.

Haven't posted much -- no news and I am still working and cycling. My due date ss coming up soon. Had a few occasions where I thought it could be the start of things, but always stopped. So it will be the waiting game for me in the next two weeks. I am very impatient, but two weeks is a short time in comparison, so I should get them somehow behind me. Have some acupuncture lined up to start off things at the middle of next week.

I will let you know once LO has arrived. All the best to everybody and a hello to Uki!

KashaSarrasin · 11/11/2007 14:24

This pg feels different from the one I m/c, and much more like my pg with DS, so I'm hoping that's a positive sign.

Hi everyone. I am a paranoid wreck, did you all feel like this. I feel very different to when it was molar but i cannot help but worry. Its awful not being able to be excited and dh and mum telling me not to get hopes up makes me miserable, i just wish i knew everything would be okay. Midwife on thurs so hopefully she might make me feel a bit better

Bouncingturtle · 11/11/2007 16:28

Glimmer - can't believe you are still cycling! You must be so fit! Good to hear from you anyway.
Kasha - keep hold of those positive signs, I found that really helped during the early stages.

lovelylou · 11/11/2007 16:31

Can you add me to list
EDD 13 july, 1 dd 2.5, molar pregnancy mar 07
Thanks x

feedmenow · 11/11/2007 16:38

Lovelylou, I'm pretty sure we've all felt just like you! Just take it nice and easy, keep yourself occupied (but nothing too stressful either mentally or physically. I know it is hard to let yourself become attahced to your pregnancy. I certainly didn't for along time, well after my 12 weeks scan. From how I feel and what I have read of others, the worry doesn't ever go away, at leats not til you have your LO snuggled in your arms. But it does get easier as time goes on. I had to take a very pragmatic view in the earlier days, being realistic but also trying to be hopeful and happy about the new life I am growing.
Tell us your fears as many times as you need to. Don't ever worry about repeating yourself, even if it'son a daily basis! Keep sharing with us all until gradually you start to feel a little safer, and you'll get through this tricky stage before you know it!
xx

hi everyone, rushed of my feet at the minute as weve decided to do some major redecorating. havent done anything since we bought the place 4 years ago and slapped a bit of maggy on the walls! so its new paint, new carpets andnew furniture also going to move dd1 into a downstairs bedroom and chance the upstairs bedroom into a pink palace for dd2 & dd3. i hate decorating though end up panicing im harming the baby. gloss fumes are not good apparently and i only realised this after spending 20 mins glossing a skirting board and my head was spinning durrr. also a bit crap up ladders at the min but it will get done im determined.

hope everyones well xx
