Hello ladies sorry I haven?t posted for days, been hectic at home and at work, doing fine though and hope you all are too ? will catch up as soon as I can

spugs · 07/11/2007 11:14

hi, had my scan and everything fine. having another girl (my 3rd) so glad i kept dd2s baby clothes.

EllieG · 07/11/2007 11:49

Excellent news spugs! Really pleased for you x

gingercat12 · 07/11/2007 11:51

I am just back from holiday, so I have not read the posts I missed yet.

Congratulations Spugs!

Being not very experienced all I can offer you p2b is some positive vibes and good luck.

Everything is all right with us. LO is very active, and I have a lovely (though quite big) bump. I love him to bits.

Just found out my Mom suffered from too much amniotic fluid in her second pregnancy. It was not diagnosed in time and my sister died. I never really knew what happened. I'll have to tell MW about it.

HEALTHY AND WELL...

feedmenow · 07/11/2007 13:06

Hi everyone!

Welsome lovelylou. Hope your appt goes well and that you have a long and dull saty with us!

Ptb, welcome to you too! So sad to hear about such a late mc, but fabby that you are here now. I know how you feel about having wanted to be pg again so much and how now you are you feel nothing but worry. we've all been there and know how hard it is. Be sure to come in here and offload your worries as much as you need to.

Spugs, congrats on the little girlie! Am getting really nervous about my scan next week. I feel such a mixture of excitement and nerves! Desperate to see the little bubba again, keen to have my "it's a boy" feelings confirmed, but nervous that they'll pick up on something. I know from experience (with my ds) that its so easy to see this scan as a "bonus" when in fact it is for a reason, and the reason isn't always good. Have also made my self a little more nervous cos I am taking the children to the scan - last time we did that was in Jan when we found out we'd had a missed mc

Ejt, about the vbac CD. yes please. I did email you a while ago from my personal email address, which I know sometimes doesn't work all that well. I will email you now from my work email. If you don't get my details, let me know and I'll double check your email address. I have to confess, I have a normal hypnobirthing CD that I've listened to a few times. I find it hilarous cos I am fully aware of the first section, but the second section "knocks me out" then brings me round at the end!! So I've no idea what she's been saying to me! My mates find it funny, and reckon that I'll start running round like a chicken when I go into labour

Hope everyone else is healthy and well.

Janus · 07/11/2007 16:08

Hello everyone,
Torres, how are you holding up? Are you feeling OK, I do hope you are.
Lovelylou, I hope your scan went well last night, thinking of you.
p2b, welcome, I'm sure you will find lots of comfort from this thread, good luck.
Sprugs, another girlie!! I have 2 girls and am pretty sure this one will be a girl too, I just keep thinking how lovely it will be for them when they grow up and all have eachother!
Gingercat, can they check on that pretty easily? Is it something they just check once or will you have to have a few check-ups? Good to know, at least they will know how to look after you.
Feedmenow, good luck with your scan. I have a similar hypnotherapy tape for vbac for my second birth and used to just hear about the first 10 minutes before passing out!! My second birth seemed easier to control than the first, must search the tape out again for this one, all worth a try!
Hope everyone else is healthy and well.

goingfor3 · 07/11/2007 16:13

Welcome P2b.

I was supposed to see the consultant today but the clinic was cancelled due to an audit. The epu didn't tell me as she knew I would still want to have my scan. It was lovely to see baby moving around like crazy again but the scan didn't last for very long as I was so deperate to wee! I'm really disapointed not to have seen the consultant. I want to tell him that I have decided to have the regular scans and not risk having the stitch again. I alomst feel that once it's down in my records I can start to relax a little while. DP was with me today but can't come next week as he doesn't have more than a day holiday left and he should keep it for the girls christmas shows etc.

p2b · 07/11/2007 16:25

Hi

Thanks for all the welcomes. Feeling a little brighter today. Goingfor3 it is indeed a shame that you didn't get to see the consultant but it must have been excellent to see your bean! I'm looking forward to my consultant appointment (next Tuesday morning - although obviously I don't know what he's going to say about miscarriage. I hope I'll be able to ask a few questions about this pregnancy and hopefully request an early (and hopefully) a later scan too. At what stage would you guys recommend that an early scan take place? Obviously I would love it sooner rather than later but want to avoid the uncertainity of it perhaps being too early and having to wait a week for another scan. Also, I might be missing something here but is there a list of when all you guys are due and what your histories are. It would be good to get a little more familiar with you all, although I do of course recognise some of you from other boards.
Thanks again.

p2b

sweetkitty · 07/11/2007 16:35

spugs - congrats on your scan and another girl I have a feeling I'm having anther girl too (my 3rd)

G43 - glad you got to see your little bean too

p2b - my EPU said to phone in and book direct at about 7 weeks I am waiting until 8 as pumpkin will be a bit bigger and if they see a heartbeat at 8 weeks the chance of mc goes down apparently. 3 long weeks to go for me (oh pumpkin as I got my official BFP on Halloween should be pumpkin seed really and hopefully a great big pumpkin by July next year) just read your story a mc at 20 weeks must have been rough for you, you poor thing heres hoping a good and boring pregnancy for you this time x

MrsMcJnr · 07/11/2007 17:01

Janus ? no, c section or any kind of spinal would increase my risk of clots so really hoping for a straightforward natural birth hope the scan goes well next week but good to hear that they are being cautious.

MOM ? sending hugs, you have a lot to get your head round at the mo x

Torres that?s fab hon! It?s odd about the inconsistencies between hospitals isn?t it? My baby has been measuring more than a week ahead since 20 weeks but they haven?t changed my EDD.

Looneytune that?s fab news about your scan. The worrying never ends but just keep reminding yourself about the scan and repeat the mantra (healthy and well) I wouldn?t worry about the lack of internals ? I haven?t had one this pg or in my previous pg which ended in MC at 12 weeks ? maybe with scans, there is just no need. Keep positive!

Lovely to hear from you Ejb -4 weeks already! and from you Ejt #

Hey Jossie happy mat leave and wow 37 weeks!!!! So sorry to hear about your colleague xx Daisy ? 22 weeks!!! Wow!

Bouncing ? so glad that you are feeling better

P2B ? congratulations hon, lovely news!!! hang in there, sending you positive vibes.

Congrats Spugs! I am one of 3 girls, it?s fab!

Gingercat ? hope you had a lovely holiday. Sorry to hear about your friend

Goingfor3 ? great scan can understand how you feel about the appointment though

goingfor3 · 07/11/2007 17:08

p2b if you can wait until at least 7 weeks you have a good chance of seeing the babies heartbeat and not being left in limbo. I'm so sorry your miscarriage happened so late, was the 20 week scan the first one you had that pregnancy as I know some places don't offer 12 week scans. I hope you get some ressurence from the consultant next week.

makecakesnotwar · 07/11/2007 17:41

Welcomd P2B- so very sorry for everything that has happened to you- totally understand your nerves, but try and stay positive. Easier said than done, I know.

Hey Mrs Mc- glad you are still well.

Hello G43, Torres and all others- keeping as well as can be hoped, I hope.

All good here- though have had to buy loads of new bras....beginning to feel like Dolly Parton! Oh, and DH's brother and girlfriend have just found out that they are having a baby, due two weeks after us...so the race is officially on for first grandchild. So very glad that we are pregnant, since would have been crushed by their news otherwise, since they weren't even trying....

Oh, and 'Healthy and well, healthy and well'- here's to us all!

p2b · 07/11/2007 20:06

Hi

Thanks goingfor3. I actually had two scans prior to 20 week one. One private one at 8.1 weeks as I was keen to know everything was in the right place etc and then one at EPU at 10.1 weeks when I had a bleed. Everything looked to be fine and because this was classed as a dating scan I wasn't entitled to another. They reckon baby measured about 14 weeks when it died but I heard heartbeat with Midwife at 15 weeks.
So, if I try and push for a scan at seven and a half weeks (or pay for one if they don't agree) this time thats only three weeks away! Surely that will go quickly..... (here's hoping)!

positive · 07/11/2007 20:55

hi everyone,

hope you are all keeping well.

sorry havent been aroung for ages but not having a great pregnancy

hadnt been feeling so great for a couple of weeks - wasnt getting enough fluids and started to get quite bad headaches as a result - thankfully loads of ice lollies and veggie soup cured that - not together obviously.

had another scan 2 wks ago when i had triple test blood sample taken which was great seeing lo again - kicking about everwhere as in 12 wks scan. unfortunately we've had the test results back showing we have high risk of baby having downs syndrome and had to have yet another scan this week. things look okay but as picture not great in scan will have to see if anything shows up on our 20 wks scan in 2 wks time.

after mc last time things arent going smoothly this time either but all we can do is keep hoping that all is well - healthy and well - healthy and well.

positive thoughts and good vibes

Bouncingturtle · 08/11/2007 06:55

Hey positive, good to hear from you! Congrats on the scan, though sorry to hear about the triple test results. Don't worry about it too much though, and concentrate on being healthy and well. One of my friends postively craved ice lollies - she used to go through boxes of them when she was pg!

feedmenow · 08/11/2007 09:55

Hi all. Must apologise for my awful typing recently. Must be baby-brain! (can blame all sorts on that )
p2b, I found it good to break up my early pregnancy into bite sized chunks. I had a private scan at 8+5 (my previous mc was at 8+2 so felt good to get passed this stage), then had another private scan at 9+5 cos of small bleed. Then had NHS scan at what we thought was 12+3, but they changed my dates so it actually became 12+6. My mwife at booking visit had told me to see at 14 weeks to listen to h/beat if I felt anxious, but I actually bought myself a doppler so listen to the h/beat myself at moments of worry, or just for fun! My next "chunk" was to feel baby move (happening lots now), then my 22 weeks scan (next Tues) then to get past 24 weeks (where they will view the baby as a baby and would try to help in case of early labour), then on to 28 weeks to mark 3rd trimester. Doing it this way, I feel like I only ever have a few weeks to wait at a time for the next "marker". Don't know how other people manage it, but this seems to work well for me!

Positive, sorry to hear you have been unwell, and about the teast results. I imagine it is easy to imagine the worst, but a "high" risk is still often not actually all that high, is it? And in all honesty, does it make any difference to how much you will love your LO? I don't have experience with Downs, but when I was pg with ds they came up with something at his anomoly scan (an enlarged cisterna magna for anyone who is interested!) that can be an indicator of a particluar genetic disease. I obviously went straight on the internet and researched and scared myself shitless! Went on to have regular scans at Kings College. They couldn't find any other "markers" but offered invasive testing. We thought about it carefully, but declined because what baby is ever born without a risk of something? Some may only have the risk of a pre-disposition to tonsillitis, others something much more serious. But they are to be our babies, and we will love them! It's our job! Hugs to you, but I am sure you will all be just fine!

Makecakes, my brother and his wife are expecting their 1st just 2 weeks after us too!

Hope everyone else is healthy and well!

xx

becklebigbump · 08/11/2007 13:52

Hi all! Hope everyone is healthy and well.
Positive, sorry to hear you have been having a rough time with this pg. Glad your scan was good though! As others have said, high blood results don't necessarily mean your baby will have DS, hopefully things will become clearer after your scan.
MrsMc, are you okay? You've been quiet lately and was getting worried about you! Hope you are not working too hard! I have posted on your baby playmat thread too.

gingercat12 · 08/11/2007 14:55

Janus I suppose it is easy to check how much is baby (quite a lot judging by his activity and strength ) and water. But I'll ask MW. She is very no-nonsense and nice. Although they all seem very overworked.

KashaSarrasin · 08/11/2007 17:25

Hello can I join?

I had a m/c at the end of August at just over 9 weeks. I got my BFP nearly two weeks ago and am now 5+4 and trying to keep calm and not be completely paranoid about every symptom!

feedmenow your advice sounds great, I'm definitely going to try that.

I want to arrange a private scan for around 7/8 weeks (local EPU won't give me a scan unless anything's actually wrong, plus when I m/c in August I had to wait 5 days for an "emergency" scan). I've found somewhere where I can get this done - but feel a bit anxious about booking this now (which is probably silly, but phoning to cancel my private nuchal scan after I m/c was not much fun ). How far in advance do I need to book a scan, do you think?

So glad I've found this thread

lovelylou · 08/11/2007 18:19

no scan yet, not for another three weeks. Doctor rang sheffield today and they said they are not really concerned about me because i am low risk and they were going to let me try from next month anyway. Starting to believe it might be real

positive · 08/11/2007 18:21

hi,

kasha - welcome - everyone here is great - i dont post too often as havent been feeling so good (but still keep reading everyones news) its great to know that there is always someone about to chat to or just to voice your worries you'll always find someone who can help.

thanks fmk, bt and bbb for your support - its so hard to keep positive at times.
I keep telling myself i'm so lucky to be having frequent scans 4 so far and i'm 17wks so thats 4 times we've seen our baby. defo going to be a rugby player - convinced we're having a boy - because he kicks about so much!!! hopefully this means i'll start feeling him soon.
as for the high risk for downs - trying to think of it in other ways - as you've said its not that high a risk after all the 1:60 is just over 1.67% and then 1:90 which we've now beeen given is just over 1%. that can be the same risk as failure of the pill ( well nearly - i know it is a weird way of thinking about it but it helps) and we dont spend our life worrying about that do we??

positive thoughts and good vibes

positive · 08/11/2007 18:25

hi me again,

wanted to ask
is it too soon to start buying baby things at 17 wks?
what do i really need to buy and what can wait til baby arrives?

you'd never guess this is our first baby

thanks

DonDons · 08/11/2007 18:27

Welcome Kasha - always nice to see a new face. Saw your other posts re private scans - I booked one for 11 weeks and booked it about 2 weeks before - but I guess it depends on the clinic (my private one was in Sheffield)

Lovelylou - have you tried the EPU at the Hallamshire (assuming you are in Sheff) - they're pretty great in my experience.

Positive - am sure you'll be feeling the baby soon - been feeling mine for about a week now and am 17+2 today. Fingers crossed for you.

Morning sickness has made an umwelcome return this week so am sulking. Nearly murdered my boss today - was thinking about stabbing him with my staple remover but instead bit his head off and told him to stop giving me a hard time - arse.

Hi everyone else!

lovelylou · 08/11/2007 18:31

Don't live in Sheffield. That is where they monitor me because my last pregnancy was molar. I have to send a sample there every fortnight so they can check my hormone levels. Thanx anyway

goingfor3 · 08/11/2007 18:38

positive start buying baby stuff as soon as the mood takes you! Buying clothes is lovely but unfortunatley I can't use that excuse as I have moutains of baby clothes after having the girls.

p2b I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you. Both of my mc's were mid trimester ones too, I had two wonderful girls inbetween them both, it is very rare and unlikley to happen again. Hopefully you will have plenty of scans this time round to put your mind at rest.

KashaSarrasin congratulations. I would ring for an appointment now, 7 weeks is only just over a week for you.
