11+5 feeling rougher than ever but excited what's to come

Got my letter for my anomaly scan yesterday - it's 18th August. Seems so far away but even so it's wonderful to have a date. I have a midwife appointment in the meantime, 28th July, where I'm crossing my fingers for a Doppler, so I have things to look forward to.

Sad thing is the letter explicitly states to come alone :( DH had to miss the 12 week scan due to covid and we'd really been hoping he could come to the 20 week since otherwise he won't get a chance to see baby at all before birth. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but sad. Think I will ring them up the day before and see if that's still the policy as it's so far away and things might have changed by then.

Anyone else have a date for your anomaly scan? Any mention of coming alone?

@CoalCraft that's sad bcos on mine it says I can bring one person with me to my 12 week scan but I don't have my maternity notes and I have to take them with me so I'm trying to figure out how I'm suppose to do that 🤷🏽‍♀️

I received a letter with 2 more appointments bcos they've put me as high risk due to my bleeds and epidural not taking properly in my twins labour. So I have a consultant appointment on the 20th August and another one to see the anaesthesiologist on the 18th December.

My symptoms have been getting a touch more hard to deal with especially with this weather being so hot at night- tossing and turning bcos I can't find one position I'm comfortable in.
Has anyone gone bra shopping yet just wondering when would be the best time.

Hope your all doing well ❤️💜💙

@CoalCraft my husband came to my 12 weeks. I have another in 2 weeks as was too early and the letter states no partners but they are allowed. If your hospital isn't allowing would you consider a private scan where your partner can go?

Definitely worth ringing up and checking about partners as my letter says partner can't come, but when I rang they said he could. Just back from the 12 week (11+4) this morning and all looking good - phew!

What is everyone doing about trousers? None of mine fit because I was skinnier when I bought them (turns out I had undiagnosed coeliac and was very unhealthy) and so I'd already put on a bit of weight so they were tight to start with - now they don't do up, from all the bloating (don't think there's a bump). Should I just buy some jeans in the next size up, as it will be a while before my smaller jeans will fit, or does it make sense to look at maternity?

@IshaPoet I got some bralets from m&s as my old ones didn't fit and they've been great. Not really my style, but no wiring and plenty of room for a bit of expansion! Really helped with the boob pain and it was 2 for £18 I think

@MarvEll maternity jeans I'm not really bothered with I had a pair with my twins pregnancy and honestly it felt like a waste of money I'm just going to get some bands and extendable button hooks so I can at least still wear the jeans and trousers I'm comfortable in. I found wearing leggings have been amazing as well just had to get one size bigger so it doesn't feel too tight

Thanks for the m&s bralet idea my issue is my nipples feel attacked every time I put something on and then they stand to attention like a soldier lol don't know if that's the best analogy I can give but that's literally how it feels. My whole boob area is sensitive and very sore so putting a bra on is a fight in itself 🤦🏽‍♀️

@BabyG123 I rang the day before my 12 week and was told dh couldn't come, and in fairness I didn't see any partners at all in the waiting room and things so think it was the same for everyone. Will definitely ring ahead again for 20 week scan and ask, fingers crossed things will have eased then.

We hadn't been planning on any private scans thinking we should just be patient, but now knowing he might not get to see baby at all, a private scan does seem more tempting. Maybe it could be booked for the week after my NHS scan if he isn't able to come to that. Will have to chat to him and see if that's something he'd want. I know he'll be gutted if he can't come to any scans at all.

@MarvEll So far I've retired all my tighter jeans and stuck to my looser ones that are normally a bit too big. I've also bought some very linen trousers with an elastic waistband. I don't know if I'm just over sensitive but I've always hated the feeling of trousers pressing against my tummy and it's gotten worse with pregnancy.

@coalcraft yes that tight pressing feeling - I can't stand it. @IshaPoet maybe I need to look at button extenders!
The bralets are unpadded - I found the bigger cup sized one better than the regular, otherwise my nipples were on the Lacey bit, which was less comfortable! Might be worth a go, but anything over sore nipples sounds painful!

@CoalCraft your next scan is the same date as mine! If it makes you feel any better, my letter says no partners either, and it was the same for 12 weeks. It’s a shame, but he did come to a private scan with me and was a bit freaked out by it, so I think I’m actually more bothered than him!

@dixiedo snap! I am hungry allll the time. I was a tiny bit underweight at the start, so trying not to stress, but for someone who’s always been slight suddenly feeling fat everywhere is a bit horrible. Hoping when it turns to actual bump I’ll feel better (I’m 14+1 and not much sign of it yet :(

Thanks for the heads up @BabyG123 I guess I will be right on the edge. Also thanks for the heads up re the timeframe as that could be awkward to explain to work if I'm gone for hours! Would love another scan though 🙂

@MarvEll the bra tips are useful thank you! My boobs are huge and sore

@MarvEll I'm the same, not sure what to do, I'm only 9+2 so bit early to buy pregnancy jeans but I defo can't close my actual jeans anymore... or very tight and I'm the same I hate that feeling of pressing against my belly, makes me paranoid. I've started wearing mom jeans as they are a bit more high waist, leaves some room for the bloated belly lol

@lilypad88 I’ve just reverted to old jeans that are usually too big and anything with an elastic waist! I’m not bump like enough yet to buy maternity jeans, but fat enough the ones I usually wear too tight.

@IshaPoet I’ve got some M&S non wired cotton rich/ sumptuously soft tshirt/ lounge bras and they are amazingly comfy and very soft against pointy nipples. I’ve gone up a cup size. Bless my husband, when he went food shopping, he got them as a surprise for me to cheer me up.

The extender band is really good and feels secure and comfy for wearing your original trousers.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

I haven’t worn jeans since lockdown started, I can’t stand the feel of being constricted. I’m living in floaty summer dresses and sports shorts now! I don’t remember growing a person being so hard, struggling today, so exhausted and nauseous. I have to go back to work tomorrow. 12 hours on my feet 😭😭 and I’ve just measured myself (I don’t use scales), I’ve put an inch on round my hips already! Stupid bread craving! Just tried to do some exercise and it made we want to vomit 😭

13 weeks today, that means I'm over the first trimester right? Feels like a big step ☺️ I read online that baby is apparently 7.4cm from head to bottom now. That seems massive!

Feeling a bit bloated today but I think that's because we had takeaway yesterday and overate big time. Me and DH both looked about 7 months pregnant when we were done 😁

Hope everyone's doing okay x

Hi Everyone, I'm 11 weeks 5 days today and have my dating scan tomorrow morning. I'm so excited and nervous.

Anyone getting really strong food aversions? I literally feel like I'm living on crackers, pasta, rice, toast and cakes as it's all I can stomach at the moment

BabyG123 · 02/07/2020 10:16

@MeganC104 12 weeks today and living off dry cereal and chicken super noodles 🤦🏻‍♀️

@MayBug2020 I had broken discharge and in the scan there is a brown patch which shows more to come. Am I right in thinking you had a early scan? Did they say anything if so?

@MeganC104 Yep I’m with you on the food aversions still! I’m 12+4 and have been super nauseas 24/7 since 6 weeks 🙈 I haven’t eaten a proper tea that entire time! All good signs though... However I would like it to ease off now haha.

MayBug2020 · 02/07/2020 10:40

@BabyG123 did they say what caused the brown discharge? Yes I did have a scan at 6+2 but nothing was mentioned. Got my dating scan next week on extract 12 weeks.

I have also just contacted the doctor as the sickness has got worse and I think it could be caused by acid in my belly but i am still off food and so tired. Wondering if there is anything I can take to help x

@MayBug2020 I'm very lucky to have not really had much trouble in the first trimester, so there have been much difference. What I will say is I have a bit more energy now and a lot more of an appetite.
