@BookishEm I'm a teacher and currently working from home. In England the guidance for schools is that a pregnant teacher should be working from home unless the school can guarantee social distancing. I told my head immediately and HR told her that I had to work from home.

I'm not sure what your guidance says. My friend who is a nurse in Scotland had to work to 28 weeks.

Hopesandrainbows · 30/06/2020 11:53

@BookishEm I'm a teacher too 😊 I'm actually off until September now as it's too hard to social distance which is nice as I can really relax.

@Littlebee1990 oh 😟 are you in any pain? You could call the pregnancy helpline? That's what I did and they're really helpful. Hope everything is ok 🤞

Tecalina · 30/06/2020 11:54

@BookishEm I'm already back in the office, but there's only five of us in the whole building (usually there's around 500!) so it's ok for now! I agree it'll be difficult in a Primary school, can you contact your Head or even your union to ask for advice?

@Littlebee1990 Oh no! Is it a heavy flow, or just heavier spotting?? Hugs xx

MyGossip · 30/06/2020 11:58

@Hopesandrainbows more positive news then hun!

@Littlebee1990 I'm sure it's probably implant bleeding which is completely normal. Or if you're constipated, could be a little blood strain? Try not to worry!

@BookishEm very good point. Do you have any idea on what your work would do?
I thankfully work from home (have done for the last 9 years) but travel to London and all over the UK every 3/4 weeks which has now stopped because of everything. My work aren't asking anyone to travel or anything as it stands and I guess once I tell them they might ask me not to travel?
It is frustrating as we've got nothing to compare it too in terms of this happening before or in previous years. Although I imagine if you're not comfortable with any aspect of your work, you'd like to think that each employer would be open to having a conversation and putting in the right parameters to make everyone feel safe and comfortable.

MyGossip · 30/06/2020 12:00

@Littlebee1990 oh just seen your update after I wrote mine. Definitely call the pregnancy helpline or your GP. Fingers crossed its just implant bleeding ❤️

BookishEm · 30/06/2020 12:13

@Ejb86 and @Hopesandrainbows it’s good to know what they’re doing down south as I imagine it won’t be too different up here as surely midwives and unions will all be singing from the same “scientific advice sheet” 😂 I don’t know whether to tell my boss during the holidays or to wait till I go back but if we go back full time with no social distancing in August then surely there may need to be a different plan for pregnant teachers? If we go back in those circumstances then I’ll be the teacher covering the non class contact time (you probably have the same thing but different name?) so I’ll be in and out every class. Maybe that will be what will change so I’m not exposed to as many people/households etc.

@MyGossip you’d like to think so 😂 it sounds like you have great employers. I’m hoping at the very least I’ll get a sit down chat with my head about it.

Thedot90 · 30/06/2020 12:17

@Littlebee1990 oh no, if it carries on then your local early pregnancy unit would see you (at least in London that’s how it works). Fingers crossed.

peonyrose87 · 30/06/2020 12:18

@Littlebee1990 call your GP or EPU lovely ❤️ hopefully it's just some implantation bleeding xx

Ejb86 · 30/06/2020 12:21

@BookishEm I'll be in one class 2.5 days, covering PPA the other 2 days, so I'll be in a similar situation. It will be interesting to see how they organise it, whether I'll even do it when we go back.

Linda1987 · 30/06/2020 12:22

Thinking of you @Littlebee1990 💖 I hope that everything is ok, best to get checked asap.

@Kovu I'm 5 weeks today too.... nice to be in a new week now! 😊

Hopesandrainbows · 30/06/2020 12:33

@BookishEm I don't know how it will work in September. I won't be covering PPA as there is another teacher who is pregnant and will be due on November so she will be covering classes. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens as so much can change in a couple of months xx

Libmama · 30/06/2020 12:38

I’m also spotting a bit this morning Sad very crampy like my period is going to arrive. I keep going to the toilet to check I’m not bleeding but I don’t feel hopeful at all. My tests have been getting lighter

Littlebee1990 · 30/06/2020 12:42

Thank you everyone, if I hadn’t had 2 BFP I would be sure that this is my period.. I’ve put a pad on. I’ve just called EPU and a nurse is calling me back within the hour. I’ll keep you all updated but I have a really bad feeling x

Littlebee1990 · 30/06/2020 12:44

So sorry to be the negative Nora of the group, hope you’re all having a good Tuesday ❤️

Hopesandrainbows · 30/06/2020 12:50

@Littlebee1990 Dont be silly!! We are all here for you! It's such a scary time and I have everything crossed for you! Xxxx

BookishEm · 30/06/2020 12:55

@Littlebee1990 don’t say that! We’re happy to be here for you. This is what the group is about isn’t it? Sharing the excitement and worries of pregnancy! Especially in these early days when not many people in our real lives know!

Tecalina · 30/06/2020 13:12

@BookishEm That's a very good way of putting it 🙂

@Littlebee1990 you're not a Negative Nora at all 😘 it's understandable you'd be concerned!

Rainbow1808 · 30/06/2020 13:21

@Littlebee1990 Sorry you’re going through thisFlowers I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you❤️

SK2970 · 30/06/2020 13:24

@Littlebee1990 thinking of you!! Hope it's nothing!! Daffodil

bubblybon20 · 30/06/2020 13:28

Hope you're okay @Littlebee1990!

What sort of vitamins is everyone taking? I'm unsure which ones to take 😀 I have brought some flaxseeds to go into smoothies and cereal! But want to take something else 🤣

AuntieR456 · 30/06/2020 13:48

@Littlebee1990 fingers crossed and thinking of you today 🙏

I’ve just booked an early scan on the 1st of August with window to the womb ...think I should be 9.5 weeks roughly by then - no idea how I’m cope worrying everyday until then 😢🤦‍♀️ Is it a silly to do any more tests while waiting for the scan after getting two positives last week?

I just feel a little bit sea sick and tired/achey, so keep having to look at the tests to remind myself it’s real 😅

@bubblybon20 I’ve been taking folic acid as a just in case for a few months so kept that up and also added daily vitamin d this week. That’s all though - didn’t see why I would buy a new pregnancy vitamin when I have a big pot of folic acid still to use up 🤔 but would be interested if you are considering any others to those two? I’ve got ingredients in next weeks Asda shop for some ginger, spinach and banana smoothies 😇 taste nicer than they sound!

Littlebee1990 · 30/06/2020 13:50

I think it’s a chemical pregnancy, bleeding like a period and AF was due yesterday. Still waiting for EPU to call me back, also had my dating scan sent to me today.. how ironic. Cramping bad and lots of blood, doubt they’ll be able to confirm this early on as I’m only 4+3, heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ll ever test before a period again after this. Gutted.

Rainbow1808 · 30/06/2020 13:53

@Littlebee1990 I’m so sorry☹️ I went through the same last month it’s awfulFlowers

bubblybon20 · 30/06/2020 13:57

@AuntieR456 I continued to take the Severn seas pregnancy ones since April when o have my MC. But ran out the begging of June. I started taking folic acid and iron since I found out! 😀 that actually sounds really nice!! May have to try that myself!x

BookishEm · 30/06/2020 14:39

@Littlebee1990 I’m actually devastated for you. I know there isn’t anything I can say that will make you feel better just now. Keeping you in my thoughts x
