Ah that’s rubbish @Indigogirl88 hope all is ok with your friend 💐 @Spark27 wow great treats! I have just been surprised with a delivery of chocolate cake and mini eggs!!! My man really is the best at times! I wanted to get my sister a birthday cake as it’s her birthday today but as it was her daughters 2 days ago, she said not to bother. So I treated her, 4 kids, my mother and my nana and papa to a McDs as she really wanted that. Four generations together in the park, was fab! My poor nana has dementia so once she had eaten she just wanted to go home, was great she came for the little time she was there 🥰 he knew I really fancied cake so ordered it without me knowing @Zaalfruit I ordered online and picked up, although they say ‘we’ll make fresh when you get here’ think they must prepare it beforehand so won’t order online again. It was a one off to be fair, waited in a security led queue, crazy! It did go in quick tho. I will note your q down in my note pad 👍🏻xx

LexiM · 18/06/2020 21:00

@Indigogirl88 sorry to hear you’ve had a bad day xx

@Spark27 sounds like your husband is definitely worth keeping today! 😂

@Zaalfruit I can’t talk - I’m about to have a dominos. Although nowadays I cannot eat as much as I think I can!

I think October can vary hugely on how cold it is. I keep thinking baby will be born when the weather is getting colder because I’m due middle of October and in my head think baby will be late and therefore likely to be end of October... we shall see!

We aren’t buying too many clothes because I hear so many stories of people having too many to get through and people like to buy clothes as gifts. I bet I will be the person with a mucky baby and not enough clothes 😂

@treacle81 sounds like a lovely time with your family. I bet it’s nice to see everyone and the cake sounds like a bonus!

I went on a beach walk today with my mum and a family friend. We managed to miss the rain which was good but I was shattered later on. Had to nap this afternoon, which I barely do at the moment.

blankiesandunicorns · 18/06/2020 22:14

@Zaalfruit I suppose all babies are different but my daughter would poo, and throw up all over hers several times a day, but she was greedy so sicking up her feeds was an issue! I will probably aim to get 15-20 first size babygros otherwise I will be panicking washing them!

Zaalfruit · 18/06/2020 22:25

I think I need to really get more clothes for baby or even make a start . I forgot that babies have poo explosions and vomit in things . Will we know how big the babies will be before birth - I just worry if I get newborn and the baby is too big.

Indigogirl88 · 18/06/2020 22:50

@zaalfruit same I've got about 10 size 7lbs but they'll all be too tight if I end up with a 9 pounder which according to mil is very likely

Treacle81 · 18/06/2020 23:08

@LexiM beach walk sounds great! My mum lives by the sea so now that we are in the next phase I’ll be able to visit her which is good. @Zaalfruit our last appointments the mw should be able to tell roughly size however hearing that they can be way out. I’ve covered myself by getting a few tiny baby, newborn and 0-3 months xx

LexiM · 18/06/2020 23:18

I’ve literally not got anything for a really small baby. I’ve heard the suggestions on size of baby from midwives measurements can be really inaccurate too. The smallest we’ve got is newborn up to 10lbs and even then only a couple of them. I would genuinely be surprised from our families if our baby is under 8lbs but I know that not all babies are the same as their parents. I was 9lbs and the smallest of three siblings, my husband was over 9lbs. That being said his sister was only about 6lbs and she had her baby a month early weighing around 5-6lbs but she did have issues in her pregnancy so it wasn’t a surprise that she was early or small.

I’m the same as you @Indigogirl88 I don’t want to waste babygrows but part of me thinks is our baby going to look ridiculous in big clothes haha! I’m going to wait and see what size clothes my friend gives me as her baby was just over 7lbs so I expect she will have some smaller clothes from him.

Vest wise I’ve got around 5 up to 1 month and then 10 in 0-3 months. I think I will just get my mum to buy some more if baby is born and very small.

otterbaby · 19/06/2020 07:55

@Zaalfruit we have 6 newborn vests & 13 0-3 month vests (mix of short and long sleeved). I think like Lexi, if she's tiny then husband can nip out and pick up another pack of newborn sizes. I would think the shopping will have calmed down by then and things will be back in stock, hopefully! Similarly, we have newborn nappies to last about 2 weeks but reluctant to buy too many just in case they don't agree with her or they don't fit!

blankiesandunicorns · 19/06/2020 08:01

MW estimations can be in accurate I was told I was having a big baby, measuring big etc and she was 6lb 13oz and usually my family have big babies so there's no way of knowing really! Think il start with quite a few of each size

Zaalfruit · 19/06/2020 08:03

Thanks everyone that’s what I might do just get a few newborns and more 0-3 months - same with nappies I don’t want to buy too much in case it doesn’t fit her . 0-3 I feel is safer to get - I doubt I would have a tiny baby the way I’m eating.

Mamas and papas have great bundles on clothes but the posting and packaging puts me off so much ! £4.95

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 08:56

Baby clothes tip: the Matalan near us has just reopened and I went in there yesterday without high hopes of what to expect from their baby clothes section (we've mainly bought from Next, Zara, M&S etc. so far). Oh my god the clothes in there are so gorgeous! Like really traditional, old fashioned style baby clothes and obviously really affordable. I'm not really into dressing babies as mini adults so it was my dream 😍😍😍 Spent way too much money! Can't be 100% sure on quality obviously as haven't used them but they look pretty decent!

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 09:02

Some of the things we bought:

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2764085_c128/boys-traditional-romper-newborn-23mths-blue

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2764983_c270/boys-dungaree-bodysuit-set-newborn-23mths-navy

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2764081_c128/boys-traditional-jersey-romper-set-tiny-baby-23mths-blue

They don't have their full range online though because I can't find most of the things we bought. Also omg some of the girls' stuff was so gorgeous it made me wish I was having a girl 🙈

Quiffy · 19/06/2020 09:22

For newborn I only have 1 outfit, 3 sleepsuits, 1 cardigan and 4 vests. I just don't think we'll have the newborn stage. All the boys on DH are 6ft plus (dh is 6ft5) and were born really big. I have a lot more 0-3 and 3-6 and then waiting to see where he's at/make use of the summer sales. I'll get someone to nip to shops if he's little. I've went for quite a few outfits that isn't recommended but I'm prepared for the difficulties and got lots of sleepsuits anyway.

@Indigogirl88 sorry about the bad news, hope you're okay

Treaclepie19 · 19/06/2020 09:41

I thought we would be having a massive baby with DS but he was 3 weeks early and 6lbs 15oz. If he had been on time or late he would have been in newborn or bigger but as it was I had to ask my mom to go get some tiny baby things for him.

Worked out in the end but was hard when he was in NICU and we were out all day visiting him so couldn't get stuff ourselves very easily.

Morning girls, just back from mw appt. Thought they’d measure me but she said she’ll do that at my 28 appt. she said they will all be face to face now and I was given whooping cough and got bloods done. They let me weigh myself so I’ve put on roughly 8 pounds and I heard heartbeat which was amazing. Blood pressure slightly low and had protein trace in urine but said she’s not going to send it for checks? @Zaalfruit she answered your q without me asking. I was given a little band to keep nearby to remind me to check for movement. If Ive not felt movement like a normally do ie first thing in morning, go on my left side, eat something sugary, I’d drink fizzy juice or ice cold water and if nothing in 30 mins, call hospital. So that’s me till next appt on 16 July xx

Indigogirl88 · 19/06/2020 10:06

Yeah i got some second hand newborn size so I'm not too worried if they dont fit and they'll be sicked on anyway 😂

Yeah I'll look at Matalan!

How many nappies roughly are we thinking per day for newborn size? I think I've got 70

Zaalfruit · 19/06/2020 10:27

Thank you for getting the info!! That’s handy a counter on your wrist @Treacle81 thats going to make me go
Mental lol - for example I have felt no kicks since 9am but when i was lying down I was .

My best friend was meant to give me all her handy me downs , but she is also having a baby in October .

@Quiffy I’m getting the pumpkin out fit !! It’s so cute from Etsy.

Matalan does lots of great baby stuff . Been looking at their website - I just need to commit and buy the clothes .

For nappies - I only brought 2 packs 🤣😂 in my boots order I think I will need to get more , dh said we can go Costco and see if we can buy in bulk .

Treacle81 · 19/06/2020 10:40

@bluemoon2468 those rompers are beautiful! Girls, my friend has just messaged to say Next are doing clearance on baby items, not much left but let’s go and see! App only tho, so need to download it (daft)! Halloween outfit sounds adorable @Zaalfruit xx

otterbaby · 19/06/2020 10:43

@Indigogirl88 I'm estimating roughly 10 changes per day? We've got 120 to start with and also going to buy about 80 of the next size just in case. Just keeping my fingers crossed we're not in the second wave of lockdown and they're all sold out!

NWnature · 19/06/2020 11:18

Eek I haven’t bought any nappies! Just have no space to store anything in this tiny flat.

I’ve also been hearing things via work about potential second peak in October Sad really, really hope not.

Quiffy · 19/06/2020 11:20

@NWnature that's what worries me, that we start lifting all these restrictions now and we get a second wave in October meaning the labour restrictions with partners hit again. It's really scary and hard not to worry about it.

BntTowers · 19/06/2020 11:31

@NWnature that worries me too. I've been trying not to think negatively about it all, but I do think that a second peak will happen. I really don't want to go into hospital alone. I think if I try to prepare myself now for it, it might not be that bad, but it's hard when DH says I'm being too negative about it all.

@Treacle81 I've just looked and there's not much left, there is a very cute bear cord dungeree set. When I ordered last week there's wasn't much available, but they seem to have had a restock and may have just done another order...

I think tomorrow when we go shopping I'll have a look at some nappies. We do want to use reusable, but I would like to start with diposable until we get used to everything, and again have a few in if things do start with a second peak.

I've brought mainly 0-3months, I have a set for newborn and 1 sleep suit which is new born. Might buy a pack of vests for new born and then wait and see? Can always send people out for stuff.

@Zaalfruit definitely go for the pumpkin outfit. I'm going to have a look for Halloween themed outfits now...

Zaalfruit · 19/06/2020 12:02

@bluemoon2468 how did I miss the cute links !!! 💓

Deffo worried about a second wave - my parents keep telling me you need to be ready by End of August . I know it seems far but it’s only 9 weeks away.

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 14:22

How's everyone doing on the names front? I think as of this week we might have decided on the full name! So happy with it 😊

Quiffy · 19/06/2020 14:29

@bluemoon2468 Got the full name planned! Unless he pops out and doesn't look like said name, I'd say we're pretty set. We've now nicknamed him his initials. Not telling people (other than my parents) in case we get any negative remarks back though.

I havent bought any nappies yet, but will likely start adding a few in the shop.

@BntTowers @Zaalfruit so excited for halloween, got my eye on an outfit and I've bought a Jellycat bat for him
