@Quiffy agree with you on not telling anyone. We haven't even told our parents, no one (although we also haven't told them the gender!)

BntTowers · 19/06/2020 14:48

@bluemoon2468 no where near! Every time I suggest talking about it he says he doesn't know. We may have decided on a middle name for if baby is a boy. I was talking to my mum about it a few weeks ago, but mainly mentioning ones I don't like and DH freaked out saying it should only be kept between us...

Buzz22 · 19/06/2020 15:03

Hello everyone, havent been on in a while. Had one of those weeks unfortunately.
Thank you for all the advice regarding baby movements. We actually ended up at the maternity assessment unit last night to be monitored for a bit as she hadn't moved all day and I was having some back and cramping pains.
Given our history they wanted us to pop up and be seen. All was fine and shes been kicking away today of course!
They think as my uterus is still tilted shes sitting far back and obviously shifted position causing some pain.

@bluemoon2468 I think I've seen your post on the baby name area? I love your first name choice.
We seem to be settled on first and middle name for her now. Was a name I thought of at the very beginning and DP didn't like it. As soon as we found out she was a girl hes changed his mind and refers to her by that name all the time now! Fingers crossed she suits it when she arrives. Trying not to tell anyone. It seems to be a bit of a marmite name so dont want people to put us off it!

Treaclepie19 · 19/06/2020 15:03

We have our first name decided and have told people. Middle name still to be decided, I have my favourite but DH isn't sure yet.

I think we're pretty set on a full name. I'm keeping my ears open for new ones in case something grabs me, but I think we're there. We're not telling anyone until shes born. My parents keep suggesting names to me. Really awful names.

I've got 3 packs of newborn/size 1 nappies. So about 75. Next time I send DH to Aldi I'll get him to pick up some size 2's. I'll get more of those as I think they'll definitely be used for longer.

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 15:16

@Buzz22 aww thank you ❤ think we're settled on Arthur as the middle name but just wanted to check it against some of the others we've considered.

'Arth' is Welsh for bear and my DH is Welsh - I've been calling him my little bear cub or teddy bear my whole pregnancy and have this idea of calling him teddy or teddy bear just as a little pet name at home, so it all works really well 🥰

MrsD1990 · 19/06/2020 16:14

We're set on a name too 😊 also not telling anyone because people can be so thoughtless saying they don't like names (before I got pregnant I might've even done this without realising) so not telling anyone until baby is here!!

I feel like I've bought too much newborn stuff now!! I have 9 new born sleep suits. I think I'll buy more stuff in 0-3 months, including all the vests. If he's anything like me and his dad he'll be v big for his age!!

MummyBearBoo · 19/06/2020 16:22

My DD was 1wk and 4 days early and was only 5lb 8oz (she's now the tallest in her class tho) so we had to buy tiny baby skeepsuits and vests and size 0 nappies she grew very quickly tho - think I'll get some newborn clothes and 0-3 months and take some of DD's tiny baby sleep suits to hospital in case and send DH out if we need more!! Just not sure what to do bout nappy sizes don't want to buy a full pack of a size if that going to be too small!!

I love Jellycat toys they're so soft we got DD a white rabbit jellycat from the white company before she was born she still loves it now and she's 4 think I might get this one a baby pink one!

Picking between 2 names but is similar to a daughter of one of my best friends so need to talk to her first but we're just making a shortlist coz don't think you can name the baby before they come out -my friend picked a first and middle name for their son but 3 weeks after he was born switched them round as he didn't look like his first name!! Still deciding middle name!

Had to stop Aldi nappies nappies as they constantly leaked so needed loads of sleepsuits - pampers were better!

She's been a bit quieter than normal for a couple of days she's still been kicking and moving a bit but normally when I go to bed she kicks loads for about 2 hours and keeps me awake but not as much last night but she's still kicking a fair bit so I'll see how she goes!!

LexiM · 19/06/2020 20:08

@Buzz22 glad all was ok when you went for your checks. Definitely worth going in for.

We think we have decided on a name, but also aren’t telling anyone as we don’t want comments. Some people we talk to we say we don’t have a name yet but my parents know we have a name but won’t say. We are still working out whether to have one or two middle names though, as the full name is quite short otherwise. The only name we’ve said we are using to people is Tom as a middle name as it was DH’s grandad who he loved a lot, we did discuss Thomas but he wasn’t a Thomas, he was a Tom so it doesn’t seem right to change it. I’m conscious of saying the name too much at home as I might accidentally use it in conversation. I’m amazed at how anyone that knows the gender manages to not say, I said “he” to my work colleague today before I even said we knew he was a boy! 😂

We have around 90 nappies of size 1 and a large pack of size 2. Think that’s enough to get started for the first couple of weeks. We just pick up and pack here and there on weekly shops from different supermarkets. Got 4 brands to try.

My husband said he’s going to research monitors, which I’ve encouraged so he feels in control of a decision! 😂

MummyBearBoo · 19/06/2020 20:44

@LexiM -I'd def recommend a Monitor with a screen DD was once sick at night but still asleep we'd have had no idea if we didn't have a screen and it's just reassurance so you don't always have to go into the room if you don't need to as this sometimes wakes them up more -we got a tommee tippee one with DD and it's till works now so we'll use this again! Xx

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 21:54

@LexiM We know the gender but aren't telling anyone and it's an absolute nightmare trying not to say pronouns 🙈 Every conversation I have I'm having to think so carefully every word I say. We'll carry on this time as it's the decision we've made now, but tbh we've both agreed that next time we probably won't bother. It's too stressful 😬

blankiesandunicorns · 19/06/2020 21:57

Exciting name talk! So far me and DH only agree on 1 name we both like but I want a few in the bag! Haven't even got started on middle names yet. I think Iv looked on every names website there is! I just can't imagine finding a name I love as much as my DD's

LexiM · 19/06/2020 22:38

@MummyBearBoo thanks for the recommendation. BT 6000 is the other one I’ve heard good things about.

@bluemoon2468 we thought about knowing and not saying but hadn’t told people we were finding out at that point. Once I knew I couldn’t keep quiet 😂 do people know you know? I think if people thought we didn’t know then it would be less obvious if we slipped up!

Treaclepie19 · 19/06/2020 22:59

That's the monitor we've bought @LexiM Smile
Had good reviews!

OP posts:
bluemoon2468 · 20/06/2020 05:49

@LexiM Yeah everyone knows that we know. I wish we hadn't told them that much because you're right, it feels like everyone is listening out for a slip up, and making assumptions about things e.g. if I show someone pictures of some clothes we bought they make an assumption about the gender, even though obviously we're only showing gender neutral clothes. My mum and dad are both convinced it's a girl though so we're doing a good job of hiding it 😄

Zaalfruit · 20/06/2020 07:46

Morning !!

We have decided not to reveal the gender and not tell people we know . I would share it with my family but my in laws are so judgemental sometimes and incase it slips that my family know we choose not to share anything .

Bt 6000 is the one dh is heading towards aswell !! However he wants a nest one aswell so he is a little conflicted .

Ok so I don’t really like pink pastel so much ( I am having a girl ) but I came across these lovely bright boys onesies - do you think it’s acceptable for me dress baby girl in these or will I be judged for being non gender bias :( so confused.

Picture attached .

@Buzz22 hope you are feeling more relieved now xx wishing you all the best x

Treaclepie19 · 20/06/2020 09:01

@Zaalfruit they're absolutely fine for a girl!
You're going to get a lot of people commenting on baby things so just try and tune them out.

LostinAusten2 · 20/06/2020 09:16

@Buzz22 glad all turned out well as well, so much respect for being able to make sensible decisions when we’ve got all the sleep deprivation, hormones etc!

Quiffy · 20/06/2020 10:00

@Zaalfruit love those for a girl ❤️

Is anyone thinking about something like the Snuza Hero (I think that's what it called?). I get pretty anxious and thought it might help me sleep better.

Spark27 · 20/06/2020 11:25

Morning ladies,
Just been looking around for some baby clothes. Why is almost everything sold out online. Urgh. Managed to get some stuff from Argos, of all places. A pack of newborn vests and Sleepsuits, and a pack of up to 1 month vest and sleepsuits. Dont want too much really small stuff, but need some and as we dont have any I'm guessing the baby poo'd/sicked through them all.

We've got a Vtech monitor. It's an video one. I really recommend a video one too. They are so good for reassurance but without having to go in and disturb them. We still use one now for DD, but that's cos shes on the 3rd floor and we might not hear her otherwise. I'm not a big fan of the movement and breathing ones. I've heard they give a lot of false positives and can induce more anxiety. If baby has a medical issue then drs might recommend, but personally I wouldnt. All personal choice though xx

LexiM · 20/06/2020 12:25

Thanks everyone, really useful to know what everyone is going for.

We’ve discussed the breathing type monitors but have decided against. Personally I think I would be lying there thinking is it going to go off (bit like I do for my own alarm!) and my SIL said she often forgot to turn it off when she picked baby up and it would then go off. I think every person is different though and if it would make you feel more relaxed then I’m sure it’s worth the money.

What’s everyone up to this weekend? We are having a quiet day today and tomorrow seeing my Dad in the afternoon. He’s really unsteady on his feet now due to his chemo making him weak so I hope he can make it into the garden. It’s so hard not being able to help/go inside where he would be comfortable. Really an hour is enough for him to have visitors. Except for being dodgy on his feet he’s actually doing really well and his body is coping with treatment.

We are then going to see my Step-Dad and Mum for a garden BBQ for dinner. So mainly sitting and eating 😂

Treacle81 · 20/06/2020 12:39

Afternoon girls! I’m feeling pretty crap after the WC injection. Completely forgot to get it in R arm but think mw should give in left as they told me to try make sure I sleep on it! So couldn’t last night and feel a bit rubbish but hopefully feel better tomorrow. As got this sore arm and seem to be really sore after toilet (piles playing up) 🙈Quiet one for me today and I’ll see my dad tomorrow for Father’s Day. We have yet to decide on first name but have chosen James as middle name as was partners late fathers name ❤️ @LexiM are you still not allowed in his house now? Thought it relaxed and you were. Hope you have a nice day with him and everyone have a good weekend xx

bluemoon2468 · 20/06/2020 13:15

Hi ladies, I posted this in a separate thread as well but I thought I'd post on here too and see if anyone can shed some light on what might be going on. Over the past few days I've started to feel quite unwell (dizzy and a bit nauseous) after eating a big meal or sweet food. It's worse if I lie down, including lying on my side. Could this be a sign of gestational diabetes? I'm not in the at risk group as I have a healthy BMI, no family history and I'm white, but I know it can just develop randomly as well. I've also been needing to wee more frequently, but had put this down to baby getting bigger and pressing on my bladder. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Treaclepie19 · 20/06/2020 13:59

@bluemoon2468 I felt the same way and contacted my midwife. She said to speak to the doctor who did blood tests and said my iron is a bit low.
He didn't seem to even contemplate diabetes which I thought odd.
I'd suggest midwife as first contact x
