All those bumps ❤️

@BettyBotter1 yay on name that’s really exciting. I told my parents our full name choice but not anyone else. We didn’t want to tell DH’s parents as they might think it’s weird and I’d be upset.

@Alana1984 welcome! I’m 5th October. How you been getting on during pregnancy?

@Pineapplemummy2020 welcome! Heartburn is a nightmare, have you tried your gp to get some medication?

@Indigogirl88 you’re doing the most important job growing the baby, so boo to him. He won’t be saying that when you have a gorgeous going home outfit and he’s wanting to send the pics to his family and friends. DIY sme-em-why, although yay for getting it done

@Zaalfruit ach that’s annoying on the sickie. Not sure on the restaurants yet, ours are opening today and my parents are down next week so we might but unsure. Seems a bit scary, think I’d rather get a takeaway.

Had the most crap sleep night. Couldn’t get comfy with pain in hips then kept waking up from it. So in a right grump already 😹

Indigogirl88 · 15/07/2020 08:34

Ahhhh thanks @Zaalfruit I need that cheering up 😃

Buzz22 · 15/07/2020 09:15

@Pineapplemummy2020 hello and welcome!
I have also been suffering from awful heartburn and reflux since the beginning. To the point I was vomiting pure acid every day if I ate anything.
My GP prescribed omeprazole which has helped a lot. I still have to top up with liquid gaviscon throughout the day and usually in the night if I wake up. Buy it's nowhere near as bad as it was. I really recommend speaking to your doctor if you are struggling to sleep. It's just 1 pill taken in the morning and makes such a difference.

@Indigogirl88 you are doing the hardest job and growing the baby! Maybe ask him if would prefer labour to DIY. As far as I'm aware labour is pretty physical work!

otterbaby · 15/07/2020 09:20

@Zaalfruit we went to a restaurant on Sunday but it was outdoor seating on the terrace. They were very prepared - you ordered and paid for the food on your phone via an app so the only interaction was them bringing it over to you. Cutlery was brought over in sealed baggies etc. Maybe find someplace like that?

@MummyBearBoo mine is the same - less of the big punches and kicks and more crazy rolling and spinning around (it feels like!).

@Indigogirl88 how annoying! Just remember that you are doing the biggest job of them all ❤️

BntTowers · 15/07/2020 10:25

@Indigogirl88 growing a baby isn't hard physical work at all is it... Can you imagine how much they would complain if it was on them?

@quiffy I slept terribly last night too. One of the cats refused to come in then just as I was drifting off I could hear him shouting at another cat, but still wouldn't come in.

@Zaalfruit I was also tempted to pull a sickie today just too tired. I do have a day off tomorrow though so not too bad. Happy birthday for tomorrow.
I've not ventured to a restaurant yet, I've not even been into town properly yet. Usually at this time of year it is crawling with tourists and you can hardly move but I doubt its that bad this year.

Indigogirl88 · 15/07/2020 10:42

Thanks girls i nearly rang in sick today even though I'm working from home anyway, just so tired and achy and my asthma is playing up but I didn't want to end up moping around at home. Dp is doing more diy so im looking forwad to faffing at the weekend. I really want to do a picture wall with some accessories I might pop to the range 🤔

Pineapplemummy2020 · 15/07/2020 15:43

Thank you for the lovely messages Grin
I got 4 hours of sleep. After reading your messages I called my surgery this morning and told them about my heartburn/reflex and they said I'd get a call back today or tomorrow. Nothing until now...

Got another question for you that's on my mind... If you are planning to breastfeed, will you be buying some bottles just in case? And if yes, how many and what sizes?

bluemoon2468 · 15/07/2020 15:55

@Pineapplemummy2020 I'm going to buy a couple of bottles for expressing, not sure which ones yet. Personally I won't be buying any formula/sterilising machine etc. as I think it's setting myself up to fail (if it gets hard I'd rather have that barrier rather than making it too easy for myself to quit if that makes sense). No judgement at all to anyone who plans to formula/combi feed though! I would just really like to be able to EBF if possible 🤞🏻

BettyBotter1 · 15/07/2020 16:00

@zaalfruit Happy birthday for tomorrow 🎂 Anti d is what they give you if you're a negative blood type so you and the baby's blood mixing can't cause any harm if the baby's positive. As most people are positive they don't need it. Agree with @charlieBalf, it really did sting!
@Quiffy that's why I don't want to tell family our name choice so I can't be upset if they think it's weird. Hopefully they will only say nice things once she is here and we announce it.

I'm tempted to go out for dinner. The new cases count is very low and unchanged in our area so feels fairly safe at the moment.

Zaalfruit · 15/07/2020 16:12

@bluemoon2468 I wish I had your attitude but I will struggle to exclusively breast feed. I really wish I had the strength to but I have to be practical for my own mental health .

@Pineapplemummy2020 I brought a Manuel pump and two bottles as I want to do mixed feeding - we got a prep machine as a gift so got lucky with that but that can’t be used till they a little bigger - my hospital has told me that I should bring two ready made milks - but they will try for me to breast feed . I will buy a steriliser but closer to the time .

@BettyBotter1 oh okay that makes sense thanks for clarifying it :) I really want to go for dinner but I’m so nervous 😥

BntTowers · 15/07/2020 16:42

@Pineapplemummy2020 I'm hoping to BF, but I've just ordered a pack of three MAM self sterilising bottles and a Hakka manual breast pump as I do hope to be able to express and get DH to do a feed during the night so I can have some more sleep, although I don't think we will do that straight away until we've hopefully got into a routine.
I keep saying hopefully as I know my mum only managed it for 6 weeks before o was switched to formula, DH's family is very big on putting pressure on me to bf only, but I am going to do what is best for me and baby at the time and they will just have to deal with however baby is fed.

MrsD1990 · 15/07/2020 16:46

With everyone saying they wanted to call in sick - I'm so tired and my sleep is disrupted again. Only 8 weeks and 2 days until I go on mat leave! Taken loads of annual leave ahead of my due date so I leave work when I'm 37 weeks. So fed up of work, I'd leave earlier if I could!! This from someone who usually loves their work... Combination of tiredness, sick of WFH and some awful colleagues/clients. Just want to focus on baby now!!!

@Pineapplemummy2020 I'm planning to breast feed but have my husband do the occasional night feed. I've just got one of those MAM sample bottles though to see if baby likes it because I've heard they can be fussy with the different teats etc. If baby likes the bottle I'll get probably two or three more in different sizes/flows. If I end up not being able to breast feed for whatever reason I'll buy loads of bottles and an electric pump! I just have a manual for now.

otterbaby · 15/07/2020 16:58

@Pineapplemummy2020 I have bought 2 bottles and a Haaka manual pump. I went for the MAM newborn self-sterilising bottles (I think they're labelled anti-colic as well?). The Haaka is mainly to catch from the other breast while feeding as I've read you can lose quite a lot of milk and then my husband can do a feed every so often!

CharlieBalf · 15/07/2020 17:45

@Zaalfruit yes, @BettyBotter1 has it right, it's to protect against different bloods mixing, specifically negative and positive and its the worst injection! Have to have another 72 hrs after the birth.

SPD is beating me up, I try not go take too many painkillers but sometimes at night I have to pop some to sleep. Been advised to wear a support belt, stay away from stairs and keep my legs together 🤣

@otterbaby I have a haaka too for the same reasons though haven't yet got round to getting a bottle yet. Just on of the many many things!

BecLJ · 15/07/2020 17:49

I'm really suffering from hip and back pain at the moment too- doesn't help that I have to sit and work at a dining room table all week! I've just bought a birthing ball to sit on that happily is the right height for the table so I'm really hoping it will help!

Spark27 · 15/07/2020 18:08

I would like to bf and express bf @Pineapplemummy2020, but we'll see what happens. Last time DD went into SCBU and I ended up expressing. I'd recommend just getting a couple of bottles at the beginning, and probably different brands as babies can be fussy with what they'll take to. If you need milk you can easily buy the premade formula bottles to tide you over. If you're planning on trying to combi or bottle feed and will use a steriliser lots the electric ones are useful. But you can get microwave ones or use sterilising tablets. I got some sterilising bags to take when on holidays and they are really useful. Can be used up to 20 times in the microwave per bag, easy to shove in a bag, etc.

LexiM · 15/07/2020 19:28

Just trying to catch up, I wrote a post last night or might have been this morning and lost it and gave up! Just didn't have the patience for it.

@Quiffy do your parents know the sex of your baby then? Do correct me if you aren't the person who knows but isn't tell anyone! I am probably confused. We aren't telling anyone the name of our baby until he is here, dont need the comments!

I am hoping to breastfeed with a bit of expressing. So far we just have two of the freebie newborn size mam bottles. Will see how he goes with them. My sister is law brought me a nature bond which is like the hakka and she lent me her Elvie to try which is kind as they're expensive. I wont buy anything else until baby is here and see what happens. I haven't got formula in case it doesnt work as I understand they only have a marble size stomach when newborn so can always Express enough colostrum for the first day or so if needed I'm sure. Having seen how colostrum can change an unwell baby animal's health on my mums farm I definitely want my baby to get this as a minimum!

Totally agree with all these comments about husbands saying we dont do anything, they would complain so much more if they carried the baby! You never realise how tiring it is until you do it yourself, I definitely didn't understand.

I am feeling sick on and off now but luckily it never lasts long. The need to burp has also come back much to my husband's disgust! Baby is moving so much now, as much as I love it, sometimes i find it off putting as it feels like my stomach is about to fall out.

I haven't been to a restaurant or pub yet. The risk seems quite low here but one thing that puts me off is 2 weeks isolation if anyone has it reported from visiting the venue when you did. I understand why but would hate that. I do however miss going out like that so might try some outside dining at some point.

blankiesandunicorns · 15/07/2020 20:15

@BecLJ I feel your pain I am working from my dining room table too and it is not comfy, I sometimes move to the sofa but that's not really practical and the dog gets on my lap! I have 5 weeks left and cannot come quickly enough as losing enthusiasm more everyday which isn't nice.

Those who have their name, did you find one you liked and stuck with it? We're really struggling and know we're having a girl so don't even have to have names for both sexes!

Sorry double posted it said the first one didn't send 🙄

MummyBearBoo · 15/07/2020 20:20

Welcome @Pineapplemummy2020 - I'll be getting some tommee tippee bottles probably 2 small and 2 big to start with - my DD was fine with these

i am planning to bf I did express some into bottles so DH could help or to make it more convenient if we were going somewhere (though I pretty much bf everywhere) but it seems If you don't try your baby with bottles early enough they won't accept them when you want to switch!

My DD only had breast milk for first 6 months but I gave her some in bottles (she didn't get confused as HVs say) and she took to bottle great after 6 months when I switched her to formula!

I know a lot of friends that followed HV advice so didn't give their baby any milk in bottles and couldn't get them off boob they only came off when they stopped needing milk!!

I guess that's fine if you plan EBF but I was ready to have my boobs back and be able to wear normal bras without breast pads and no leakages (plus I was getting a bit lopsided as towards the end DD favoured 1 boob over the other!! Xxx

Treacle81 · 15/07/2020 20:36

Evening girls, work was hectic today, also counting the days to finish (18th Aug)! Welcome newbies 💁🏼‍♀️ a quick question - should we be getting colostrum in before birth. Hearing about people storing it but it never came in for my son being born until 2 days later and think it might be same again as had no leaking xx

LexiM · 15/07/2020 20:57

@blankiesandunicorns we decided on a name but agreed we would wait and check if suited him when born - the other reason we aren't tell anyone his name. Also not 100% on middle name/s. Hope he does suit it though because we dont have a back up!! I have said I dont want to discuss it too much until hes born as I'm the type that will talk myself out of everything!

@MummyBearBoo I had read I need to introduce the bottle once breast feeding is established and not wait too many weeks. Some seem to say 3ish weeks old and others not until 6 weeks. So much advice out there!

@Treacle81 I am already leaking a bit but didn't have any plans to harvest colostrum unless midwife says I should. I feel like it would be a faff to store it and take to hospital etc. That's just my thoughts though, I dont really know much!

MummyBearBoo · 15/07/2020 21:00

Getting pretty bad braxton hicks have to keep. Getting up and moving around til they go off! Xx

blankiesandunicorns · 15/07/2020 21:23

@Treacle81 I was curious the other day and squeezed some out but then read that it can bring on contractions so thought I'd not do it! Or at least lay off until I'm full term!
