Ended up sleeping all afternoon until 7pm then back in bed sleeping at 10. Must have really needed it. Also read more of First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins and really happy with it. I know some of it will come natural but this book outlines common things like cradle cap, burping and tests after baby is born, which I had no idea about as I've never been around babies. (So far) it's not pushing any parenting ideas on you which I love.

@LexiM your hoodie sounds a great idea. I tried to find a nightie in Sainburys to give birth in, but they only had a Tigger one with HAPPY on it in my size. Didnt think that be very appropriate haha...

@MrsD1990 still loads of time to buy things, just take your time and get it when you want to

@Zaalfruit That outfit is super cute, I say go for it. I've got two outfits in mind. One is just a sleeping suit but it matched the jellycat comforter that I got his name on (will prob use for first photo so that DH can announce to everyone his name) and I have an outfit that's grey joggers with a green jumper that has a badger on it.

Zaalfruit · 09/07/2020 09:51

Maybe I should dress her in a nice baby sleep suit for the car ride home and then have an outfit for at home - for everyone to take pictures in. Hopefully lock down would have eased by then . Told my parents they need to isolate around my due date so that they can come over and help 😂 it’s their first grandchild so they are buzzing to help.

bluemoon2468 · 09/07/2020 09:58

@Zaalfruit yep I'm saving outfits for when people come over to the house to meet him 😊

Zaalfruit · 09/07/2020 10:40

Just getting my gtt test currently and I feel sick - but working hard on not vomiting as it voids the test .

Had a midwife appointment inbetween omg the baby is huge 95th percentile I’m not buying any new born clothes 😂🤣

Spark27 · 09/07/2020 10:48

Just back from my 28w appt (currently 28+4). All seems fine. Took a while to find the hb properly, but baby was wriggling around while she was finding it so I wasnt concerned. Baby currently breech but no issue as it's so early. She said they wouldnt be concerned til around the 36w point. Her hb was around 150bpm, sounded like a train. Measuring at 27 and just above the 10th centile. Mw was happy with that and says they wont send me for a growth scan unless it falls below the 10th centile. Urine and bp were fine, and she said she'll call if theres an issue with bloods. Next appt not til 34w unless I have any issues. xx

Hey ladies,

Hope everyone is well, I've been MIA lately due to work/family stress.

Still going strong here, 27 weeks, managed to get a 4d image of his little face yday at my scan which was a nice suprise. I'm so excited now.

I feel I've been a bit slack lately on the planning/ purchasing but will try and figure out what bits I need next week (I've taken a week off).

I'm also doing hypnobirthing practice too, I hope it all comes together on the big day but let's see.

Xxxx

Spark27 · 09/07/2020 10:52

@Zaalfruit sorry the test is making you feel sick. Really pleased I seem to have dodged it.
That going home outfit is really cute. You might want to wait and see what time you get out though, and decide when to use it. We weren't released til 2100 last time so went home and didnt see anyone, so a lovely outfit could be a waste. But if you leave earlier and plan on family popping round it could work. Or you could save it til family visit? xx

Treaclepie19 · 09/07/2020 11:11

Hi all. I'm having a little freak out as we excitedly bought the next2me magic after getting on so well with the original next2me with our son and now I've seen reviews about it not being as safe and tilting to one side.
Not sure whether to swap it or just see how we go.
That'll teach me for splurging on the new model 😩

Id agree about the going home outfit. Don't put too much worry into it. Our ds stayed in NICU for 5 days and the last thing on my mind was what he was wearing. Going to chill a bit this time 😂

@Zaalfruit hope you're surviving the test!

@Spark27 Glad appointment went well and getting to hear heartbeat

Treaclepie19 · 09/07/2020 11:35

We already have it @Quiffy 😔
Just not sure what's best to do. We wanted a next2me and that one seemed the best so I'm torn. If we want to return we'd have to do is ASAP because we've had it a few weeks already.

@Zaalfruit hope you're ok with the GD test, I was fine in there but ending up being sick on the way home in the car 🤦🏼‍♀️ had to take the afternoon off work, really knocked me.

@Spark27 glad the scan went well 🤗

Thanks @Quiffy 😘 xx

NWnature · 09/07/2020 11:50

@Zaalfruit hope the test goes ok!

eeeek I just checked my measurement and mine is just below the 90th percentile!!!

MummyBearBoo · 09/07/2020 12:12

@Zaalfruit -hope your GD test goes ok!! Think I'm just gonna get a cute sleepsuit and hat with a short sleeved vest underneath and take a cardy depending how cold it is (my MIL has knitted one with matching bonnet!) for going home.

For those planning to Bf - has anyone used a bf shawl before (I don't want a full apron thing it's like a scarf that doubles as a bf cover) last time I just tied a muslin to my bra stripe to cover my boob when I was at my
in-laws but I'd quite like to get a shawl this time anyone got any experience of them? Xx

HerondaleDucks · 09/07/2020 13:51

Hello everyone. How we all doing? Apologies for my long absence!

Treacle81 · 09/07/2020 14:08

I’m away to dig out the measuring tape!!! 🤔xx

Indigogirl88 · 09/07/2020 14:13

I have no idea how to measure if anyone can tell me?

All good @HerondaleDucks tired, achy, complaining the usual Grin how's you?

HerondaleDucks · 09/07/2020 14:17

Glad you're all good @Indigogirl88

I'm enormous and have a very very active child inside me.

Treaclepie19 · 09/07/2020 14:28

I am having the worst anxiety day 🙈

So I was going so cuckoo about the next2me magic I've sorted a return for tomorrow.

Now i have to order a new one... im thinking maybe the dream.
My anxiety is so up though that even the sheets are stressing me out.

I've got some of the official next2me ones that we were going to use on the magic but apparently the dream is slightly bigger.
All of the official next2me sheets say the same size though so I think I'm worrying over nothing.

Is it bedtime yet? 😩

OP posts:
Zaalfruit · 09/07/2020 15:27

@Treaclepie19 we got the dream but it doesn’t quite level with our bed so it will lean a little on our bed - which is fine as we sleep in a huge king size bed and me and dh squeeze you next to each other we always laugh that we can fit in a single bed.

Ahh I really want a little bonnet hat for baby and I can’t find any in stock.

I am not sure how they measure the baby size - she just got a tape measure out and measured it I looked at the report later and it said 95th percentile that’s huge - she was measuring small and now a huge growth jump. Might be all the crisps and chocolates I have been eating 7pm to 9pm FYI the gtt test is so boring and long 2 hours .

Zaalfruit · 09/07/2020 15:42

Oh I wanted to add one more thing I told the midwife I’m thinking of not breast feeding exclusively and she had a go at me . Like you aren’t think best for baby - I was like my mental health is important for the baby too.

Treaclepie19 · 09/07/2020 15:45

@Zaalfruit that's common I'm afraid. They have to promote breastfeeding as breast is best.
I got it even after we were formula feeding when breastfeeding didn't work out. You have to be thick skinned and stick by your decisions.

Mine wasn't even a decision last time, he couldn't latch and the one midwife told me after the first week he probably wouldn't ever. I was expressing like mad and making myself ill. Yet still got the lectures.

You do whats best for you and baby Smile

OP posts:
MummyBearBoo · 09/07/2020 15:45

@Zaalfruit am-do you know anyone who could knit you one? Xxx

Quiffy · 09/07/2020 15:46

@Zaalfruit that really scares me. What did she say about your mental health? I guess once your home with baby it's your own prerogative.

@Treaclepie19 Try and be easy on yourself

MrsD1990 · 09/07/2020 15:53

@Zaalfruit that's so shocking what a backwards midwife!! I thought everyone (professionals at least) was on board with "fed is best" because of the negative impact the "breast is best" campaign had on mental health and increasing post partum depression but I guess some people are still stuck in the past!!

Zaalfruit · 09/07/2020 16:37

Just was so aggressive and made notes on my book saying FTM - difficult with the idea of breastfeeding - further calls required . I guess someone will call me about it . For some weird reason all the women on my mums side have had issues with bf. I don’t want to get on the idea that I can bf and then I can’t it will be so mentally hard on me. I am trying to stay positive and also realistic - I get very tired very easily due to my underactive thyroid the addition of bf might be a Strain on me and I am accepting that.
