Hey everyone - been a bit quiet for a bit but hope you are all getting on well. Finally feeling the baby moving now - yippee! No pattern as such but generally at least once a day!

My friend has kindly given me a load of their things including a baby bouncer and the Moses basket I bought her as a gift. My ergo baby carrier came and it is in great condition so very pleased with that.

How has everyone been feeling? My bump has definitely popped out loads the last week or so.

MummyBearBoo · 28/06/2020 18:34

I'm getting a rucksack changing bag this time struggled with an one strap one last time!!

25 weeks today and finally bought some stuff only a tatty teddy hooded towel and some muslins but Asda had no newborn baby girl sleepsuits at all but had loads of boys ones! Xx

BettyBotter1 · 28/06/2020 19:14

@NWnature that's great that you're now feeling the baby move!

My bump has popped loads on last couple of weeks, definitely no hiding it now.

I'm really lucky to have a friend giving us loads of baby bits too including moses basket, baby bath and loads of clothes. DH and I have been getting organised with baby list and deciding what we want to get. We've decided on the ergo baby carrier too. I wish we could get our butts in gear to get the house sorted though, we have a load of DIY that we have to do before we can begin to sort a nursery.

NWnature · 28/06/2020 21:12

@BettyBotter1 argh the baby list is so hard to tackle isn’t it!? The big things I still need are pram and crib. I doubt we will have nursery sorted before the baby gets here because our house is getting fully renovated and the builders have said mid October- I imagine they’ll overrun. I’d definitely recommend checking eBay for the ergo baby - mine was £45 brand new!

We are no closer on names! I’d love to get it to an agreed boy name and girl name so we are prepared on the big day but I think it might just have to be a short list and see how we feel once they get here!

Zaalfruit · 28/06/2020 21:57

@Quiffy the bath we ended up getting was Nubys baby bath both my sister in laws said they loved it and said it was easy to use .
Let’s see when baby gets here how we wash her .

@NWnature great to hear that baby is kicking - I don’t have a pattern either . I feel huge - my pj buttons have to be left opened .

@Treacle81 I need to look in Argos and get it - looks great. I think I want two bags is that really weird - I want a normal one and a back pack . I have no strength so the idea of pushing a buggy and a heavy bag feels daunting to me .

@MummyBearBoo I can’t find newborn sizes either for girls really struggling . I brought some 0-3 months but they look huge a she will be swimming in them. I just wanted a few sleep suits and vests in newborn size .

Also in terms of wipes - are water wipes worth the hype - they are a box of 12 for £25.50 in boots . Working out to be £2.12 each.

Hope everyone had a good weekend x

MummyBearBoo · 28/06/2020 23:52

@Zaalfruit -water wipes are the only ones I found that are as gentle a cotton wool and water as my DD had really sensitive skin any other wipes made her sore -so IMO they are worth it - we used to bulk buy from Amazon it worked out cheaper than biting separate packs and you'll always need loads!!

I have some newborn stuff from DD but I'd like some new ones too!
Xxx

MummyBearBoo · 29/06/2020 01:36

She kicked a few times before I went to sleep but has been re I relatively quiet all day until now!! She's now wriggling snd kicking hard it woke me up and much as I love to know she's ok it's keeping me up!! I'm sure she'll go to sleep soon but doubt I'll get any more sleep til she does!! Xxx

Indigogirl88 · 29/06/2020 08:04

Hey everyone sorry I've been quiet as well, had a weekend full of seeing people social distanced in gardens and now I feel a bit anxious that the lockdown is easing and any sniffle, cough or feeling hot I feel like I've got it!?

I'm with you on struggling to sleep, every 2 or 3 hours I'm awake with either aching arms or needing the loo

Baby girl was quieter yesterday but been feeling her lots over the weekend

We still need to do a load of DIY as well and get a few more bigger items, crib is the main one

And also trying to come up with our shortlist of baby names

I feel like the weeks are passing now, 26 tomorrow Grin

BntTowers · 29/06/2020 08:41

I'm with everyone with feeling like the time is going too fast. I had a bit of a panic on Saturday that I couldn't get anything done that day for various reasons and balled my eyes out. It feels like everyone else keeps telling me that we've got loads of time left, but every week I feel less mobile and more tired.

@indigogirl88 I feel a bit like that today, but I think it's just hayfever. We went into 3 shops yesterday and had to queue outside each of them so I think it's just from being stood out in the wind.

MummyBearBoo · 29/06/2020 09:20

It's two years ago today that my first son was due 😢 it's so annoying that I remember my EDD coz it's the day before my wedding anniversary!
Now I'm 25 weeks pregnant with a little girl it feels a bit easier but it's also the same time I found out that my second son was also too poorly to survive last year I always feel a bit down towards the end of June!

Sorry to be on a downer hope everyone else is ok! Xx

Quiffy · 29/06/2020 09:20

@Spark27 ask the midwife about brain problems 🤔😹 men! I'd like to inject them with some hormones and see how they do.

@Treacle81 looks lovely! Great bargain.

@NWnature yay on movements and your friend. That's really nice ❤️

@Zaalfruit I think I'm between that one and the shnuggle. Who knew baths were such gadgets. I'm planning on getting water wipes for hospital and first few weeks. I read somewhere that maternity units can be funny and want either cotton wool and water or water wipes for changing.

@BntTowers agree on feeling like not much time left as the further along the less mobile I'm feeling.

Had a dream last night that I had the baby at 30 weeks in a shopping centre and as I had no hospital bag packed I had to go to Superdrug. Then the midwife made fun of our chosen name 🙄 hospital bag is going to be my new obsession 😹

DH and I decided to fill in my maternity allowance form yesterday as I'm 26 weeks today so can send it now. We fell out big time. I'm self employed and you have to put a date you registered as self employed. I knew the month and day I choose but I had to check year on my online tax bit. He kept taking laptop off me as "he's good with technology and forms" and disagreed with the date as "he's an accountant you know" which has nothing to do with the date I choose to be self employed. We both thought the other was outrageous. I fully recommend if you have to do it, doing it yourself 😹

Quiffy · 29/06/2020 09:21

@MummyBearBoo hope you're okay, look after yourself today ❤️

MummyBearBoo · 29/06/2020 09:30

Thanks @Quiffy -yeah the matronly unit where I had DD were funny about any wipes that weren't water wipes like I said too my DD used to get sore if I used any others so had to use them until she was potty trained!! Xxx

Indigogirl88 · 29/06/2020 09:31

@MummyBearBoo sending hugs xxx

@Quiffy that's my job for this week, send help! Xx

LexiM · 29/06/2020 09:34

@quiffy bet you wish you had done the form without him knowing!

I am starting to consider the hospital bag and will probably dream about it too, last night I kept saying "she" in my dream and I was annoyed at myself all the time as I know it's a boy haha!

@BntTowers I think the weeks go quite fast too, and although I felt like I did a lot at first now I feel like I need to start being organised again. As soon as it got hot I stopped bothering!

My mum's friends daughter had a baby late last year and has just given us loads of stuff, we are amazed at how generous she is and I've never even met her! Theres tonnes of clothes from newborn to 6 months, maternity pads, bed pads in case waters break, a close caboo baby sling and a full sealed spritz for bitz. The last two were actually on my might buy list so I'm thrilled.

LexiM · 29/06/2020 09:35

@MummyBearBoo thinking of you, hope you're ok xx

MummyBearBoo · 29/06/2020 10:03

Thanks ladies your support is appreciated! Xx

BntTowers · 29/06/2020 10:20

@MummyBearBoo I hope you are ok, thinking of you.

Hayfever has hit me with full force today I feel so fuzzy. I have a midwife appointment on Thursday, is there any questions people have?

@Quiffy I've started to think of a hospital bag too. People seem to take a lot of stuff and I was watching a video where someone went through what they actually used and it was a tiny percentage of what they took. I'm quite a light packer for holidays so I don't think I'll have that problem for myself, it's just the baby stuff I'm wondering about.
Also depending on how the situation is in October I'm suggesting to DH for him to put a sleeping bag in the car, if they still aren't allowed in with us until a certain point at least he can be warm on the car. A friend of ours partner had a baby 5 week ago and he said the parking was full of blokes asleep in their cars waiting for something to happen which I think is ok in May but by October it might get a bit cold!

Spark27 · 29/06/2020 10:24

Thinking of you today @MummyBearBoo. I hope today is ok and you get to take some time for yourself xx

27+1 today, and thinking I'm going to completely miss the 2nd tri energy burst Grin, just feel so tired and achy all the time. I think its partly due to having DD to look after, partly age, partly the affects of a 2nd pregnancy, but also partly to do with lockdown as I've not been able to get out and about. I actually had an OK nights sleep last night, and DH left me to sleep in til 1000, but I already feel tired.

When we had DD the nurses in SCBU used water and cotton wool to clean her bum so we used that while there. Such a faff. We used Johnsons extra sensitive wipes when home, and them moved on to Aldi ones. I think this time I'm going to get some Amazon Ultra Sensitive wipes for the first month or so and then move to Aldi. Dont want to buy too many in case she has a bad reaction, but I can always use them to clean up DD after a messy dinner!

CharlieBalf · 29/06/2020 11:25

@MummyBearBoo big hugs, take it easy today.
@BntTowers sleeping bag in the car is such a good idea! I'm fully on board with that idea and I must admit something I hadn't thought of. As this is baby #1 I k ow it's likely to be a longer labour.

As far as wipes go- I'm getting some cheeky wipes whi h are reusable but for the first couple of weeks and at hospital I'm planning on water wipes too. My frie d had a baby a month ago and said that he got a terrible rash/infection on his bum. Turns out that she'd been using cotton wool and water since hospital and all he needed was a good old wipe down 😂

Zaalfruit · 29/06/2020 11:27

@Quiffy same I was confused but then price paid a major factor £12.99 for the nuby.
How annoying with dh - my dh is so annoying about things like that . They always think they know everything lol

Ahh maybe I will get a box of water wipes - trying to spread the cost of everything . I can’t use the Johnson wipes on myself my hands react funny - red sores so even if wanted to use it on dd I won’t be able to.

@MummyBearBoo just have some time for yourself you are allowed to feel sad . Take a moment for yourself today x Thinking of you xx

I am so tired aswell , always sleepy but when I go to bed I just feel uncomfortable. My moods are terrible from the lack of sleep.

I had annual leave booked off for tomorrow and my manager said it’s not booked in the system - I threw a fit and send the email back where she approved . This is at 8.30 in the morning - what a way to start the day.

Treaclepie19 · 29/06/2020 11:55

Thinking of you @MummyBearBoo Flowers

I'm so achey as well. Last night I was really in pain. I think its SPD and ligament pain but will try and ring the midwife today.
Have been distracting myself writing a book, as you do 😂

Thanks everyone!! Xxx

Treacle81 · 29/06/2020 14:11

Aw @MummyBearBoo no worries see you struggle with this time of the year, thinking of you today and hope it’s a quick one and then you have a lovely time tomorrow ❤️ @Zaalfruit the bag just gets attached to the pram so should be ok. Wow @LexiM that’s great to have gotten all that stuff, my friend has just said she’s giving me all her sons clothes (he’s now 9 months) so it’s great getting stuff given 👍🏻 26 weeks today and I definitely feel like I’m getting a bit more energy and staying up later but with you @Spark27 certainly wasn’t start of 2nd tri as I’m 26 weeks today! I sent my Mat B1 to my boss and he sent it back as MW hadn’t wrote down due date! I asked if he could just fill it in and he went mad, he expects me to do it at my next appt but just feel like filling it in myself 🤓xx

BntTowers · 29/06/2020 14:48

@Treacle81 ha just say that you were able to pop in and see her and write the date on yourself.

Part of my next order came today, it may actually be slightly Christmas with the little hat, but this little cord dungeree set is so cute.
