How is everyone a weekend going? We had an appointment at a baby store today and was good to see some different prams and car seats.
We've narrowed it down to maxi-cosi Andorra or the Osyter 3. Also have a choice of two car seats we like. I think we will have to book another appointment after DH has cleaned his car so we can try the car seats.

Also brought our first pack of nappies, told DH he will have to get another couple of packs I think. Help spread the cost a little.

Pizza for tea tonight which I'm looking forward to.

@Zaalfruit love the little sleepsuits, definitely ok for a girl or boy.

Having a lovely weekend so far. My DH and I met up with a few friends this afternoon and sat chatting on a blanket in a field for a few hours. The sun was so relaxing! And I have some bits hiding in the fridge for a special Father's Day brekkie tomorrow which he'll be really surprised with. If there was something new in the fridge I'd notice instantly, amazing how I can hide things right under his nose and he has no bloody idea, shows how observant he is!!

@BntTowers we have an appt to do the same on Monday! I'm really looking forward to it. It's great that you get to test out the car seats in the car. Was trying to research isofix bases vs non-isofix and my mind is feeling a bit boggled!

@bluemoon2468 sorry, I'm not sure 😕 if you're feeling unwell after I'd get onto your midwife/maternity advice line ASAP just in case it is an early sign of something like GD. Hopefully it's nothing!

LexiM · 20/06/2020 21:14

@Treacle81 not that I’m aware of - only if it’s a single person or single person with children and they are the only one ͏y͏o͏u bubble with. He has a partner plus is super vulnerable so it wouldn’t be sensible to go in his house/near him.

@bluemoon2468 sorry I can’t be any help, I would definitely contact the midwife and ask, sounds like you may need some kind of checks. I hope you feel more normal soon.

@BntTowers sounds like an exciting day. For me getting the pram makes it seems so real and is really a moment! Hope you enjoyed the pizza.

@otterbaby my husband is exactly the same about the fridge, especially if you hide something in the vegetable draw 😂 never sees it.

Had a sad day today, my last Guinea pig died and I bawled my eyes out. Usually I’m quite robust about pets dying, my mum has a farm and we’ve had so many animals over the years. He was old and when I saw him this morning I knew today would be the day. I made him a little extra padded bed of straw this morning. It was all very peaceful and as bad as it sounds I was more relieved for him than anything. In recent weeks I was finding myself checking on him all the time and worrying about him at night. I wouldn't have liked to see him get slower and suffer. Earlier this week he had suddenly had a burst of energy too bless him.

My husband has been out this evening seeing his Mum for the first time in ages, so I’ve had a bit of a relaxing time and a pamper evening. Feels odd because it’s the first time in about 100 days that I’ve been home alone for more than an hour.

Spark27 · 20/06/2020 21:20

Sorry to hear about your Guinea Pig @LexiM. Good he didnt suffer though. Sending love Flowers

Hope you enjoyed your nice relaxing time at home today. I loved getting a few hours away from DH on Thursday.

otterbaby · 20/06/2020 21:30

@LexiM funnily enough that's exactly where I hid it! So sorry to hear about your guinea pig 😞 losing a pet is never easy. I'm sure he had a lovely little life.

bluemoon2468 · 20/06/2020 21:33

Thanks for the advice everyone. Called my maternity advice line and they didn't seem concerned! Just said eat smaller meals 😕 Will raise it again at my 28 week appt if it's still happening...

BntTowers · 20/06/2020 22:51

@otterbaby we found it really useful. I think tonight we've decided on which pram we are going for. Have fun on Monday.

@bluemoon2468 sorry you are feeling poorly, I hope you are feeling better soon.

@LexiM sorry you lost your guinea pig, it's hard loosing a pet. I hope you've managed to enjoy your free time this evening.

I think DH has taken some of my tiredness, normally he is awake until midnight, he went up to bed at 10 and I'm wide awake we seem to have swapped places.

Zaalfruit · 21/06/2020 08:02

@LexiM how was it with your dad must have been nice to see him and spend time with him. This virus is making everything so difficult it’s so frustrating to just be normal. I’m sorry about your guinea pig sending you lots of hugs x

@Treacle81 the whooping cough injection is the worst it’s hurt so much and I was irritated with everything , sorry about the piles flare up, but on the bright side you will be able to spend some time with your father today . I wish Wc pain and piles flare up goes away quickly !

@bluemoon2468 deffo would recommend pushing your doctors to get you tested for gtt.

@otterbaby lol my husband is the same - tbh if something has been moved behind he can’t see it . I pretty much hide everything under his nose , that’s lovely thou a nice breakfast for him. I can’t wit till next year and then baby will be here to treat her father . My dh is so funny he said he wishes father day came first so he could see what I do for him so he can up it for Mother’s Day and not make it a crappy day 🤣

@BntTowers good choices for prams , I made an appointment at mama and papas to see buggy’s for next weekend ! How was the appointment, I’m feeling a little nervous in case I get over whelmed by choice Maxi-Cosi Andora is currently my choice it just a matter of seeing it and seeing how easy it is.

Quiffy · 21/06/2020 08:46

@LexiM so sorry about your guinea pig, that's super sad ❤️

@otterbaby sounds like a lovely day! Love the special FD breakfast too.

Happy Father's day to all the boys!

My parents came to see us yesterday, which was superb. The day went so quickly though :( my mum and I went to a garden centre, which is the first time I've been in anywhere since March 1st. Wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.

Ftm silky question here. With the travel system you get a car seat but I see a lot of people on Facebook groups looking at car seats as well (like the 360 one). Is this to use instead of the car seat with travel system or do they grow out that car seat quickly?

Spark27 · 21/06/2020 09:22

We got a 'normal' car seat with our travel system and used that at the beginning. We then got a 360 style car seat from about 4ish (?) months and moved to that. It goes from birth until about 4yrs. Our DD was quiet a chunky monkey, not at birth but from about 3months, and she hated being put in the normal car seat and looked so squashed. As soon as we got her in the 360 she was so much happier. Car journeys were a nightmare of her crying before.

They are expensive. I think we looked around for a few weeks and fortunately found one with £100 off. But we use it all the time so was so worth it.

LexiM · 21/06/2020 09:37

Thanks everyone. I enjoyed my evening alone although found it so weird at first! Had such a bad night sleep, just constantly waking up then 4am the cat knocks something over downstairs and I was properly awake then. Baby is moving loads this morning which is so wonderful but also stopped me getting back to sleep. Gonna be a long day!

@bluemoon2468 I would just monitor how you feel but definitely call again before then if you’re worried. You know you’re body.

@Zaalfruit I’m seeing my Dad today, so will let you know, hopefully he’s got some energy today. I’m just pleased the weather looks ok so we can go.

@Quiffy sounds like a lovely day you had. With the car seat we are just using the travel system maxi Cosi to start with. It says up to around 12 months but does depend on the weight of the baby and it think 6 months ish might be more realistic. I think some people that also get the bulkier 360 ones from the beginning might be to use in different cars. I can’t see the point in having both in the same car, defeats the point in getting the travel system.

BntTowers · 21/06/2020 09:38

@Quiffy we were talking about this with the sales consultant yesterday and decided for us it wasn't worth getting a bundle with a car seat (only DH drives so for us it wouldn't get used as much). She said that the ones that come tend to last until about 15months old, then you'll need something bigger. We are looking at a couple of the 360 ones as they are suitable from birth with a little insert. They range in prices as there are two types of safety tests they go through, the I class test is the more vigorous one where they test; head on, rear, side and rolling collisions. The other one is just head on and rear collisions.
It's worth thinking about, but also is something that can be thought of later if your travel system comes with one as you'll have a year or so use out of it.

bluemoon2468 · 21/06/2020 19:58

@Quiffy I bought a silver cross bundle and the carseat lasts until 12 months, we'll have to buy another one after that. But tbh we're planning to have more children so we'll likely need two seats (one baby and one toddler/young child) at some point anyway!

Indigogirl88 · 22/06/2020 06:16

Morning ladies hope you're all well and had a lovely bump fathers day yesterday. I got my dp a scan photo frame with lovely words on but didnt come out as well as I'd like (he didnt notice) but I was a bit disappointed.

Anywayyyyyy, yesterday we got engaged officially! We have spoke about getting married but I wasnt expecting it yesterday he got on one knee with a knock out ring in one of our favourite spots in the Dale's. The sun even shone for a while Grin so I spent the day in a blooming blubbering mess, but wouldn't have had it any other way GrinFlowers

Treaclepie19 · 22/06/2020 07:17
