Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

lydiangel83 · 14/06/2020 21:04

Hi can I join please? Currently about 6 wks and due date early feb. Second time pregnant with 2.5yo DD who I love so much but was a very difficult birth and first 18 months. Thankfully various conditions have improved and she's happy beautiful toddler :). Based in Bedfordshire aged 37!

FebruaryBear · 14/06/2020 21:49

@Arrowcat they aren't the most glamorous but I lived in the H&M crop top type style bras in my last pregnancy and through breast feeding, super comfy and the clips weren't too fiddly!

Hi and congrats to all the other newcomers :)

emvy · 15/06/2020 16:47

Welcome newbies! So lovely to see more joiners.

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering really badly with nausea, sickness and hypermesis. I hope you’re able to get some relief!

To be honest my symptoms are really up and down. Today I’ve barely felt anything so I’m back to panicking again. Yesterday I was super emotional and felt sick constantly. Hoping today is just a quiet day & I’m back to feeling awful tomorrow! Despite it being horrid, it does reassure me a little!

Thanks for all your responses about work. Once I’m back I’ll see how I feel I think. If I wait to tell them in September (after the summer holidays) I’ll actually be almost 20 weeks and that seems a bit late. So maybe I will say something, I’ll see.

Those of you having early scans, at what gestation are you having them? I can’t decide whether to book one, or when would be the best time!

VAM24 · 15/06/2020 17:18

Hi everyone. Hope you're all doing ok. 🌈😊

My nausea really kicked in yesterday and today to the point I couldn't look at my screen and had to have a few hours away from work. I spoke to my GP and they've prescribed something. Cant remember what it's called but husband is picking it up for me from pharmacy now so hopefully it helps. I really wanted to avoid taking anything because I'm scared of doing any harm to the baby but im struggling to function because I feel so ill so had to call in the end.
Might be worth anyone who's really struggling to do the same and hopefully your docs can help.

@emvy I've booked my scan for 4th July when I think I'll be 8+3 so hopefully there will be a strong heartbeat - I can't think about it atm though as makes me toooo nervous. Will just deal with it on the day and hopefully everything will be fine. 😊

lydiangel83 · 15/06/2020 19:02

@VAM24 also got nausea meds prescribed today! Really hope they work! Have an interview tomorrow, and today has been awful. Hope they work for you x

CWF123 · 15/06/2020 19:11

Hi everyone! Seems a few of us are really suffering with nausea! I'm glad you mentioned about meds I didn't know you could have anything so if mine gets any worse I'm gonna to call my doctor aswell! 🤢 feeling sick is such a horrible feeling! Im struggle to eat in a morning I have to wait at least an hour and half then manage two weetabix! 🙈
Has anyone had their first midwife appt for bloods ect? What else happens? I haven't had mine yet...

lydiangel83 · 15/06/2020 19:15

@CWF123 I only found out because someone on here mentioned it! I'm the opposite, am eating constantly to try and alleviate nausea, have put on 4kg in 2 wks which is quite shocking!

Til1018 · 15/06/2020 19:50

Hi everyone. I’m 5 weeks pregnant now, think I’m due on 13th Feb. It’s so hard keeping it to ourselves so hoping that sharing the experience with some others in a similar position will help ☺️ This is our 2nd baby. We told our family at 6 weeks last time, but we’d like to try and get a bit further along this time so we can maybe even surprise them with a scan photo! Not sure if we will hold out that long but we shall see!

Til1018 · 15/06/2020 19:53

Meant to say, also have a toddler who is 22 months now. She was born 11 weeks early so will be under consultant led care this time and hoping this one cooks a little longer! Hard waiting for the point at which you can actually have any appointments though. Known 10 days now and feel like it’s been weeks!!

CWF123 · 15/06/2020 19:57

@lydiangel83 I must of missed that! Least your eating! That's got to be a lot better than not 🙈 I hope it eases off soon!
Don't worry about the weight gain... I'm sure it's expected when pregnant

CWF123 · 15/06/2020 20:00

@Til1018 Congratulations!
Second baby that's exciting i always seem pregnancy surprise and they look so cute! I told my family straight away with it being my first and lockdown for extra support! Let us know how you keep going and how you plan to surprise them! 😊

lydiangel83 · 15/06/2020 20:11

@CWF123 yes you're probably right although I have put in 4kg in 2 wks and Dr Google says it should be 2.5 kg max in first trimester! I put on so much weight last time, am of average / slim build usually but I gained 30 kg last time! Lost it all within 7 months though thanks to breastfeeding and going dairy free as baby had milk intolerance!

lydiangel83 · 15/06/2020 20:53

Any top tips for natural / home made nausea remedies would be much appreciated

CWF123 · 15/06/2020 21:03

@lydiangel83 hopefully things ease off for you soon then.. when I feel sick I usually have an apple! I suffer with travel sickness and an apple helps with this abit aswell! Also lemon and ginger fruit tea (caffeine free)

CWF123 · 15/06/2020 21:36

For anyone wanting any sickness related relief... Placenta Plus on Instagram has posted a few remedies from other mums/mums to be... and what helped her :) I'm definitely trying a few!!

Summertime1992 · 15/06/2020 21:43

Hi all, may I join :)

I found out I am pregnant on Saturday had a positive on clear blue digital this morning. Baby due on 25th February as per my app.

I have been soo tired the last couple of days, and am either feeling sick or my stomach is rumbling as am hungry. I am bloated and gassy, and my boobs have been developing ugly veins on the areolas.

I am surprised how quickly symptoms start.

Its my first baby so really excited to tell the world but at the same time trying to keep it between myself and my partner for 12 weeks, I think am going to struggle not telling my mum.

VAM24 · 16/06/2020 07:31

Congratulations @Summertime1992 😊

@lydiangel83 the only other thing I've changed because I read on a few threads was to stop taking the pregnancy prenatal vitamins (like seven seas or pregnacare) and instead just take folic acid and vitamin D alone. I checked with the doctor yday and they said that's totally fine and that folic acid is the main one. I switched yesterday and think I feel a bit better this morning - haven't got out of bed yet though so might still kick in.

I've also ordered preggie pop drops from amazon which are super sour sweets which can help when you are feeling really rough. Hoping they help too.

VAM24 · 16/06/2020 07:42

@CWF123 ooh I just looked at that instagram - lots of good tips there too!! Ice lolly's defo help

katiemc89 · 16/06/2020 08:01

Morning girls. Lovely to see new people joining. Hope you’re all feeling well. I’m 5+4 now, feel like I’ve known for eternity and it’s still 6 weeks to go until a scan 😅 Also trying to hold off telling family until we have a scan. I’m so tempted with an early scan but my partner isn’t keen ☹️

Hope all you ladies suffering with morning sickness start feeling better soon. Luckily I don’t seem to suffer, feel a bit queasy every now and again but no sickness (yet 🤞🏼)

VAM24 · 16/06/2020 09:46

Hey @katiemc89 glad you are still feeling ok! My sister never had sickness with hers so I was hoping I'd be the same but sadly not!

I admire your patience in not booking at early scan. My early one still feels like agggeees away and it's only 2 and a half weeks now.

Honeysugarbee · 16/06/2020 09:54

So... I found out a couple of days ago that my dh and I are expecting. I am over the moon but trying to be cautious as I've had 2 MC in the last 6 months so just praying everything is OK, everytime I go to the loo I'm checking for blood. 😔 Luckily none as yet though.

By calculations I'm going to be due around 18th Feb.

Only dh and I know at minute and want to keep it that way until 12 week scan just to make sure everything is OK.

emvy · 16/06/2020 10:47

@katiemc89 we sound in a very similar position! DH doesn’t want an early scan either, although I think he may actually be coming around to it. I’m going to wait and see how I feel once I’ve booked in with the midwife on Friday. I’m also 5+4. Also, I think you were one of the only other few people who hadn’t kept testing? 😂

@VAM24 I took pregnacare in my previous pregnancies and felt AWFUL! Switched to Seven Seas and felt loads better, so have stuck with that this time. I was previously only taking individual vitamin d and folic acid which is also fine!

Welcome @Honeysugarbee, I’m sorry to hear about your previous losses. I have been there and it’s so tough. Keeping everything crossed this is the one for you 🤞🏻

lifefromhome · 16/06/2020 11:50

Hi ladies 👋

Please can I join? I'm in the south of the UK. I found out on Sunday that I'm pregnant with our first baby from the slightest little shadow on an internet cheapie. According to my app I'm about 12 dpo, which gives a due date of around 25th Feb, but I don't know if that would change as I have long cycles? I didn't believe the line when I first saw it and was impatient it and tested again with a FRER, I got a pregnant on a digi this morning. I haven't even told my OH yet as I just wanted to see it in writing. I can feel the anxiety setting in already and just wondered if anyone had paid or is planning to pay for an early scan? I think I want to just for reassurance for myself? I don't know if I'm over thinking too much.

@VAM24 I feel for you. I absolutely hate being sick so I know how lucky I am. Hopefully you get some good ideas from ig.

@emvy we are definitely the same. I’m convincing my partner around lol. He works offshore so he’s said if he’s home around the 8 week mark we can book one 🤞🏼. Yep, just the one positive test for me lol. I feel very left out 🤣

@Honeysugarbee welcome hun, got everything crossed for you. I’ve found it really nice to have people to talk to, found I’m not needing to tell family and friends yet because of the online support. X
