Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@lucyy89 congrats! I got tablets from GP which help with nausea might be worth thinking about x

MNGal1987 · 08/07/2020 07:35

@lydiangel83 Sorry I only just noticed you asked a question. I’m unsure about the rest of Britain but in Scotland there is a traffic light system regarding the risks Involved by being pregnant. Green would be low risk and midwife led whereas red route is high risk and consultant led.

I had an early scan yesterday. Technically I’m 8 weeks pregnant but that is going by my last period, I knew I wasn’t actually 8. Little tiny blob is measuring 6 weeks and I saw the flickering of a heartbeat ❤️
I’m going back for another scan next week as the said they thought the yolk sac looked ‘thin/faint’ and that there’s nothing to worry about (🤯) - why tell me then! It was an internal scan so could’ve just been the angle etc. Has anyone heard of such an issue with the yolk sac?

NavyBerry · 08/07/2020 13:39

I have just had a scan and was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. I'm 8 weeks. The sac is empty, no heartbeat. Not sure how it feels. I was worried I didn't have any nausea as others. So I'd just say treat all pregnancy symptoms as a blessing. I wish I had them. Wish you all good luck!

Kat5464 · 08/07/2020 14:32

Oh im so sorry to hear this, its awful, you will feel awful for a while too, hormones all over the place. Ive not heard of a blighted ovum before, but can empathise with hiw you feel right now, give yourself time. Big Hugs & yes all babies are a blessing. Xx

MNGal1987 · 08/07/2020 15:08

@NavyBerry I’m very sorry to read about the results of your scan today Flowers
You have my sympathies and I hope you feel better as time passes. X

Kat5464 · 08/07/2020 18:51

Is any1 experiencing bloating, I feel bloated but uncomfy under my ribs when sitting in armchair, I only got this much later on with my previous 2 like 32wks, im only 8+5 or am I?! Feel so big already.

EmBrum · 08/07/2020 19:44

@VAM24 thanks for the booking appointment tips - really helpful x

EmBrum · 08/07/2020 19:52

@NavyBerry I am so so sorry for your loss. This happened to me last year. Happy to message if you need to. It's such a good few weeks in to then see just the empty sac. I was floored. Sending huge hugs xxx

VAM24 · 08/07/2020 20:12

@NavyBerry so sorry to hear that. Hope you are coping ok and have some good support around you. I also had an MMC in March so really do feel for you 😔 sending lots of hugs x

Hi everyone 👋

I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant with my third, due Feb 8th Smile
I have two daughters from a previous relationship that are 13 and almost 11.. so it's quite a big gap between them.

This is my partner's first, and we were actually only together for two months before I (very much unplanned) fell pregnant Blush. I was definitely not a happy bunny at first, didn't plan on having any more children.. but now I'm very excited Grin

EmBrum · 08/07/2020 22:22

@entropyReversed - welcome! I'm due 8th Feb too. Hope you're doing ok and glad you're getting used to the news :)

Berty95 · 08/07/2020 22:37

Hi Everyone, can I join your lovely discussion?

Congrats to all and I’m so sorry for your sad news ❤️Sad

I’m 8 wk and 3 days with my first little bean I had an early scan as I had no idea how far gone I was. Is anyone else struggling with the fact we can go retail shopping but can’t have DH at the scan? Hmm

Definitely elated - due date works out at Feb 14th

Im definitely a lot mardier than usual and I look like I’ve had a boob job Wink I can’t stop googling the growth progression - hope you’re all well I’d love to join the what’s app if you set one up xx

CWF123 · 09/07/2020 08:57

@navyberry sending lots of love to you. Xx

CWF123 · 09/07/2020 08:59

I haven't had any early scans so I'm hoping everything is okay, Iv only had nausea really as a symptom but I do have some bloating or small bump should I be worried? .... according to my app i should 10+1 today.... my scan has come though for 3 weeks time seems so far away!!!! I'd be 13 weeks then but I think I'd actually be 12 when I get there but will let you all know....

CWF123 · 09/07/2020 09:00

Oh just a note it said on the latter a partner could come I was so excited but I rang to double check and the NHS just haven't updated any letters so we still have to go alone 😢

Kat5464 · 09/07/2020 09:29

@EntropyReversed
Wow. Snap my dd 8th Feb, 3rd baby, unplanned but not unwanted, plus im 40yrs old. Im fairly relaxed tbh, not much I can change so just taking 1day at a time. 9wks today.

Summerrp · 09/07/2020 09:33

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow, I dont want to speak too soon but feel my symptoms of exhaustion and nausea are starting to ease off and I feel much better in myself.
Scan 13th August feels forever but I am working away so hopefully time will go quickly.
Had bloods done yesterday hopefully all will be ok. Pregnancy is a constant worry I can't wait to get to a stage I feel movements for a little reassurance.

Kat5464 · 09/07/2020 09:35

@CWF123
I had this letter, but with a little attachment saying no family due to coronavirus. Its upsetting as cant share the experience but at least we get to see the Scan & baby for 1st time, hearing that tiny heartbeat is so emotional.

CWF123 · 09/07/2020 09:41

@Kat5464 yeah definitely! We didn't had a note or anything! It's frustrating how we can mix in bigger groups and stuff now but partners or family member can't come to a scan wearing full PPE! So frustrating! X

EmBrum · 09/07/2020 09:58

Such a shame for the dads as well - it's their baby too! Plus I really need the support in scans. Mine hasn't come through yet but phoned and they said could be around 14 weeks atm. Glad I had an early one at 8 weeks. If DH can't come into hospital scan, I'll probably book another private one around 16-17 weeks so he gets to experience two. Good excuse :)

Kat5464 · 09/07/2020 10:30

@EmBrum
@CWF123
Do we have to wear masks for our appointments? Guess we do, but do they supply them as I dont have any have been staying in.

EmBrum · 09/07/2020 11:14

I'm guessing masks are probably needed in the hospital - not sure.
They weren't a requirement at the clinic I used for 8 week scan.

VAM24 · 09/07/2020 11:14

At my private scan you had to wear a mask, I had one already (ordered some colourful ones from boohoo for a fiver) but I think they were giving them out to anyone who didn't. I think it's the same in the NHS.

I have had my scan come through for 12+1 based on LMP which is less than two weeks away! I'll actually only be 10+6 based on ovulation and the private scan so not sure if they'll be able to do the screenings. I did tell the midwife but they said they have to go off LMP to start with.

Really hoping the baby is still ok in there, can't wait to see it again.

Hopefully the next few weeks will fly by and we can all get some peace of mind!

Welcome @Berty95 - congrats on your pregnancy!

EssJayyCee · 09/07/2020 11:30

@EmBrum That is what I am doing. I am going to phone my hospital the week of my scan to see if my partner can come if not we are booking a private scan the day after so he can come with me 😊

It is so unfair for dad's especially as everyone is allowed to go to work, to the shops and to the pubs and restaurants.

I'd understand more if the maternity units are next to the COVID wards but they aren't! So it's ridiculous!
