Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

Lydia they normally tell you what gestation the baby is measuring but your due date is properly confirmed at your 12w scan. And usually then I think they only change the due date if your own dates are wildly out, probably wouldn't bother for a couple or even a few days either side

VAM24 · 05/07/2020 11:05

@CWF123 so emotional! I cried lol. Yeah it matched up exactly with my dates based on ovulation as I was tracking it with ov sticks. Based on last period I would have been 9+5 but I knew I ovulated super late that cycle.

@lydiangel83 yeah they did tell me the dates based on measurements without me having to ask. Did they give you a letter/report they might have written it on there

Hi all, I'm 38 and just over 6 weeks. My doctor told me to send a self referral form to my hospital 2 weeks ago but haven't heard a thing. Is that weird? This is my first so I feel like I'm just winging it!!
I'm experiencing some light pink spotting - am I supposed to call my doctor first or the hospital? Thanks all xx

CEBT · 05/07/2020 15:41

Congratulations. I don't think its weird to wait to hear from them. It's my first too though and 100% winging it. I did a self referral form. They didn't ring me until I was about 7 weeks I think. All areas seem to be different so it might be worth waiting another week and then calling. I had pink spotting at 5 weeks but it was like one or two spots so I didn't do anything as I read that it was normal. Told the midwife at my booking in appointment and she didn't think anything of it. Spotting can be quite normal in early pregnancy. If there's quite a bit or you're worried, I would call the early pregnancy unit of your hospital. You should be able to find the number online. They told me to ring them if I experienced bleeding.

@VAM24 congrats on your scan results.

I had my scan on Thursday all good but was a bit disappointed I didn’t hear the heartbeat just saw the flickering. Although the main thing is everything is ok. They also had to do an internal scan which i was not prepared for!!! I think it was because I had to wee before the scan or i was going to burst Blush so they couldn’t pick it up on ultrasound. I am measuring 7 weeks and 3 days, thought I was 8 weeks and 3 days! Counting down the days now until my 12 week scan on 31st July!

@lydiangel83 they didn’t give me a due date.

VAM24 · 06/07/2020 15:55

Thanks guys 😊

How is everyone today? My nausea is through the roof I'm struggling sooo bad. Have booked another gp Appt tomorrow to see if there is anything else I can try. Has anyone found meds that are working really well?

According to google week 9 is the worst fit sickness and I'm 8+5 so realllly hoping it eases a little soon. Had to call in sick today as couldn't even face working from home. Have many of you told your work already? I was planning to wait but might have to sooner because I feel so 🤢

EmBrum · 06/07/2020 17:33

@VAM24 completely with you on this. Feeling dreadful. Doing no housework and errands. Had a week off work last week and was ill the whole time. 9 weeks today. Due back to work tomorrow and I don't know how I'm going to do it :/ do you think you'll tell work now and take more time off. I'm torn. Have a promotion application pending too so feels a bit complicated.

Hang in there- hopefully it will ease next week or so x

Kat5464 · 06/07/2020 17:45

My dd is the 8th Feb, am waiting for my booking appt.

VAM24 · 06/07/2020 18:26

@EmBrum omg same. I'm also up for promotion this year so really wanted to leave it as late as possible to tell them but also don't think it's going to look good that I keep calling in sick with random excuses! Very torn on what to do.

I really hope that week 9 mark is the peak and it starts to ease after that. It blows my mind that so many women go through this I am struggling so bad!!

EmBrum · 06/07/2020 18:35

@VAM24 oh snap! You know, I think I might come clean this week if I carry on feeling this rubbish. Likewise, I don't want me boss to think I'm not committed right now and I don't know how much I'll manage :/
Trying to get as much in writing about promotion prospects beforehand though - just in case!

@Kat5464 - same here 8th Feb. I called the hospital today and they have a backlog of referrals for booking appointments and scans. Said to bear with them another week or so for letters in the post. That's Birmingham btw.

VAM24 · 06/07/2020 18:43

@EmBrum yeah I think I'm going to have to tell them and just hope they don't take it away. Getting as much as poss in writing is a good idea.

I had my booking apt today but the nhs think I'm 10 weeks (ovulated super late so I know I'm only 8+5) so hopefully you'll get yours through in the next week or so.

lydiangel83 · 06/07/2020 21:47

Ladies feeling sick I am sorry to say that I am still feeling ropey at 11+4! Was hoping it would ease off by now and I think it has compared to weeks 8/9 but still not 100%. Luckily (I'm some ways!) not working currently so not having to worry about that but 2.5 year old keeping me busy and struggling to do much more than basic household stuff cooking etc

EmBrum · 06/07/2020 22:00

Oh gosh not liking the idea of 2 or 3 more weeks of this @lydiangel83 but well done for making it through that bad patch. You must be due January?

Thanks @VAM24 and hope your booking went ok today. Can I check how far back with family medical history they went? My OH might need to make some enquiries about his late grandparents (never met them)... x

Kat5464 · 06/07/2020 23:50

Ahh ok, I spoke to a birthing centre & they said thet would write to me with all the details and that appts are now face to face, so thats good news. Its such an anxious wait though hey?! Hoping everythings ok as now age 40 & concerned but this is baby No. 3. So should be a pro! Lol.

lydiangel83 · 07/07/2020 07:08

@EmBrum yes i think I am due end Jan actually but didn't realise that until I joined this group lol

VAM24 · 07/07/2020 07:57

@EmBrum for most questions was just me and my husband but there were a few that included parents grandparents aunts and uncles - from memory it was diabetes, high blood pressure, recurrent miscarriage or SIDS - I wasn't 100% sure tbh as we have no grandparents left but gave them the best answers I had.

VAM24 · 07/07/2020 07:58

@lydiangel83 hope you start to feel better reeally soon!! Do you have your 12 week scan booked for soon? So exciting

lydiangel83 · 07/07/2020 08:44

Thanks @VAM24 yes next Weds feels like it's been a long time coming - I can't wait!

Jonsey1987 · 07/07/2020 11:26

Brill guys! I'm Only 6+5 and feel behind you. I don't even feel pregnant! My DD is 25/26th Feb but my 6 week scan put me nearly a week behind that so I'm now thinking I'll have a March baby. I rang my midwife dept and I'm expecting my 'booking in' call wc 27th which seems ages off! They've told me to just read up on screening tests - I was just thinking of having the full MOT. Thoughts?

BeanieBabyLovex · 07/07/2020 17:14

Haven't posted for a while hope everyone is well! Saw baby's very strong heartbeat today 137BPM 7w3d and so in love!

How is everyone xxx

CWF123 · 07/07/2020 20:16

@lydiangel83 aww that's exciting that you've got your scan next week!
I'm apparently 10 weeks tomorrow and still waiting for my letter!!! I might call then and chase tomorrow! Hope the sickness feeling eases soon! I'm feeling ropey still some days worse than other it's horrible.

@Jonsey1987 ahh don't worry I only just started to feel pregnant these last two weeks and still don't fully now! It's only because Iv got a small bump! You'll get that feeling soon

@BeanieBabyLovex aww that's cute! Was this a private scan? Glad all is okay!
I'm desperate for mine to come though!

lucyy89 · 07/07/2020 22:11

Hello everyone! Congratulations. I am 31 years old, based in the UK and 8 weeks pregnant for the first time. I had severe nausea from 5.5 weeks onward, I tried everything- NOTHING worked. I have recently started using sea bands and they seem to be helping. Would definitely recommend you guys to try if going through nausea. It doesn't go away completely but is definitely manageable! Hope this helps some of you..

Kat5464 · 07/07/2020 22:57

8+5days, had my letter through today for booking appt, next week & 12wk Scan in 3wks! Hopefully we make it that far, but what will be will be. Such mixed feelings, excited, worried.Confused Good luck ladies.
