Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@cebt what a shock! If you don't hear from the hospital soon I would ring them (maybe by Monday lunch?) - if in doubt phone your epu - tell them what's happened and hopefully they can book you in. Its usually a 24 hour service! Mine doesn't scan at a weekend.

CEBT · 04/07/2020 06:54

Thank you to everyone that commented. I'm new to mn so don't know how to reply to more than one person! The hospital rang last night and said that I don't need to go in. They said this is quite common and that usually the twin that didn't make it will be reabsorbed into the body. It's called vanishing twin. She also said that there's no reason why the baby that is 8wks and 4 days won't be fine. If I waited until 12 weeks I might not have known about it but the reason I had the scan was because I felt like something was wrong so I am glad that now I know what it was. The hospital said to call them if I get any severe bleeding or problems.

Good luck to everyone else having a scan :). It is really good to see what is going on in there so, despite my news, I'm glad i got one for those of you thinking about it.

lydiangel83 · 04/07/2020 07:51

@CEBT sorry to hear about your news must have been a huge shock, hope you're doing ok.

lydiangel83 · 04/07/2020 07:52

@CWF123 thank you - still feeling really rough, DH getting annoyed that I am slower than usual and he is having to get up with our DD 2.5 years old. More of that to come so he is going to have to get used to it lol

CWF123 · 04/07/2020 08:37

@CEBT glad you've spoken to the hospital hope you feel more reassured. X

@lydiangel83 just take each day as it comes and hopefully you'll start to feel better it's mad how small the babies are now and how much energetic they take and rubbish you can feel! Stop doing his washing and he'll start helping more when he has nothing clean hahaha! Hope it eases soon though!

EssJayyCee · 04/07/2020 14:04

Quick update for you all!

My scan was perfect and little peanut has a very healthy happy flickery heartbeat 💓

I am so happy and have now learnt not to worry about symptoms coming and going.

CWF123 · 04/07/2020 14:26

@EssJayyCee aww that's amazing news! So happy for you and glad you feel less worried I'm so eager to have my first scan!

MNGal1987 · 04/07/2020 20:09

Hi ladies! Can I join the club?

Recent found out I’m pregnant; I think I’m around 7/8 weeks.
I have a beautiful DD 3.5 but funnily enough I’m more nervous and anxious this time round than I was with the first.

After what seemed like the longest two weeks I eventually got my booking appointment via telephone. I knew I’d be a red route pregnancy so I’ll be getting a scan on Tuesday - looking forward to hopefully seeing the flutter of a tiny heartbeat Smile.

I had been suffering from extreme fatigue and nausea (never happened first time round) but suddenly overnight it seems to have disappeared. No matter how many times I read that this is common I can’t help but worry!
Xx

CWF123 · 04/07/2020 21:48

@MNGal1987 Welcome :) and congratulations! Can I ask what DD stands for I'm not down with all these mums met abbreviations 🙈

Bet you can't wait for you scan!! :) I'm about 9 weeks I think and so eager for my 12 weeks I'm so excited now.

Has anyone bought any bits yet? Iv been looking non stop today but too worried to buy anything x

CWF123 · 04/07/2020 21:49

@MNGal1987 I'm sure it's normal with the symptoms to come and go but check on Tuesday to put your mind at rest x

MNGal1987 · 04/07/2020 22:21

@CWF123 Thanks Smile Congratulations to you too. Enjoy pregnancy and rest as much as you can because your life will change next year!
Oh no worries DD is Dear/darling Daughter. There’s an acronym page somewhere 🤔

Yes the sneak peak on Tuesday will hopefully reassure me.

Personally I never bought anything for my first born until I was around 6 months pregnant but the excitement can be overwhelming so I’m pretty sure I bought small things like clothes etc.

CWF123 · 04/07/2020 22:37

@MNGal1987 thanks! Iv actually been so busy as Iv just started a new job two weeks ago but I'm definitely more tired than I ever have been! So trying to relax as much as possible in the evening and weekends!
Ahh I might have a look for that page as I see loads of things and have no idea what they mean haha!
Yes I'm sure you'll feel more relaxed after the scan! I can only imagine how amazing it is seeing your baby for the first time I can't wait!
I won't be buying big bits till I'm around 6 months but I can't stop looking at baby stuff especially because it's a feb baby the wonder clothes are so cute!!!

MNGal1987 · 04/07/2020 23:12

Here you go... www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

Oh another congratulations for your new job!

There’s no words to describe seeing your baby via a scan for the first time. Doesn’t matter if it’s your first or fifth Smile.

Top tip - as much a new born baby outfits are adorable there’s not much point in buying many as babies generally live in baby grows for the first few months. Makes life easier when it comes to the numerous nappy changes 😅

VAM24 · 05/07/2020 08:39

Hi ladies! My scan was lovely yesterday too got to see the little baby and hear and see the heartbeat was amazing. They measured me at 8+3 with a due date of Feb 10th 😊

Nausea has really upped again the last two days, I'm feeling so rough but at least I know it's worth it. Can't wait to get to 12 weeks to see the bub again and hopefully for the nausea to calm down!!

CWF123 · 05/07/2020 09:12

@MNGal1987 thank you for the link and the congratulations again haha!

It wasn't so much clothes it was more the fluffy all in ones for if they go out to keep them all so you and warm so adorable!!

See I bet it's the most amazing thing I was feeling anxious a few weeks ago and wasn't that excited more scared like that the hell am I ready for this but now I'm excited again just gutted my bf can't come as I think it would of been even nicer for us both to be there on the first time but we said we will book a private one at 17/18 weeks for the gender before my 12 week scan.

@VAM24 how amazing!! So happy you got to see your little baby and hear the heartbeat! Was so emotional? Was you measuring to what you thought date wise before the scan? My app says I'm 9 weeks and 4 days but I think I'm probably more 8 weeks...

Summerrp · 05/07/2020 09:18

I'm wondering should I book a private scan or just wait for my hospital scan. Only problem Is I'll be one day off 13weeks so seems like forever. So impatient, just want to know there is a heartbeat to put mind at ease.

lydiangel83 · 05/07/2020 09:59

@MNGal1987 congrats on your BFP! What is red route if you don't mind me asking?

lydiangel83 · 05/07/2020 09:59

@MNGal1987 congrats on your BFP! What is red route if you don't mind me asking?

lydiangel83 · 05/07/2020 10:04

People who went for early scans did they give you a due date? I went for one when I thought I was 8/9 weeks and they showed heartbeat which was amazing but I didn't think to ask gestation or due date!
