Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

Hi ladies- this is such a lovely thread. Congrats new BFPs!
Can definitely relate to those struggling with symptoms - two sessions of being sick in recent days and overall nausea and aversions/lack of appetite but ginger nuts and other beige stuff can help. Thank goodness for supplements!

We had a private scan yesterday which thankfully went well. Nice for DH to be there in case he can't come to 12 week one. Measured 8 weeks yesterday - due 8th Feb. Good heart beat and blood flow. Very impressed with Solihull MUMS if anyone is looking for somewhere in Midlands.

Just really want to get through 1st trimester now tbh... struggling with the symptoms. How ppl get through hyperemesis I'll never know!

VAM24 · 01/07/2020 08:46

@emvy it's definitely worth calling the gp. I still feel ill with the meds (metoclopramide) but I literally can't function without them so they definitely help! They tried me on something else first but it didn't work so it's also worth calling back if the first ones they give you don't work. I've found them to be really good and helpful about it.

I was super nervous about taking anything but the doc explained that they wouldn't give out anything that could harm the baby so not to worry.

KW4816 · 02/07/2020 10:19

Hello everyone, congratulations on all the baby news it is very reassuring to read through the comments and how you're feeling/coping!

I am just 6 weeks and this is my first pregnancy. I was given an estimated due date of 26th Feb when I rang for my booking appointment last Monday but havent heard back yet, so I followed up today and await a call back. I want to ensure I can have the relevent tests so perhaps I am a bit paranoid!

I am REALLY bloated, like it is all I can think about and it's getting me down because I look about 6 months pregnant! I can't wear jeans comfortably and feel frumpy. I have a call back from the docs today to see what I can take. I am also pretty tired but the nausea is only faint so far.

I thought I would come here to join in the support as I am too early to tell anybody other than parents, so it's nice to get advice and reassurance with others in the same position.

x Smile

katiemc89 · 02/07/2020 10:43

@kw4816 welcome and congratulations. I feel your pain on the bloating. I feel like I found out I was pregnant and the next morning I had doubled in size. I’m going to end up like Violet Beauregard, be rolled into the delivery suite, no wheelchair needed.

@kw4816 I'm 6 weeks today too. I spent about 10 days bloated then it went overnight and still am wearing trackies now - any excuse! Last night I started with nausea and migraine. Couldn't tell if my head was causing me to feel sick or vice verser... Felt hungover!! In the end went to bed! I'm not eating as much as usual and I've lost about 4 lbs in 3 weeks - unintentionally! Got a scan tomorrow think today's the day I tell school! Still feeling a bit sick this morning and have my scan in the morning then school at 12 - too much😂

Cupcakefairy12 · 02/07/2020 11:19

Hi ladies,
I’m about 6w 4d and I’m so nausea. I get sick most days but the nausea is soul destroying. I haven’t been out of bed for 3 days. I have a toddler to look after, thank god DH is WFH. I can’t eat anything as it makes me sick, ate just a piece of toast yesterday and it didn’t help in the slightest. I feel a fraud ringing the GP as I’m not being sick all day every day but this is soul destroying. The thought of it lasting 6 weeks potentially is painful. Not really sure why I’m babbling just after some support and a to say hello.

VAM24 · 02/07/2020 11:21

Hi @Cupcakefairy12 congratulations and sorry you are feeling so bad. Please do call your GP, the nausea can be debilitating and they can usually prescribe stuff to help. You don't need to suffer unnecessarily!

I am on meds and have never been sick just super nauseous all the time.

Cupcakefairy12 · 02/07/2020 11:37

Thanks @VAM24. Will call them. Have you found the meds have helped?

KW4816 · 02/07/2020 12:11

Hi @katiemc89 thank you so much, that gave me a good giggle! I have spoken to the doc and he advised 10ml of Lactolose per day, increased to 20ml depending on the response. I am eager to try it as I honestly feel awful with it!

Hi @Jonsey1987, oh that sounds challenging. I am terrible with sickness so I already feel sorry for hubby if/when that arrives. I have a stash of gingernut biscuits! I am finding I am after more savoury foods than sweet though. I assume it is a private scan you are having? Apologies to be nosey, but I am thinking about booking one for the 8 week mark.

@Cupcakefairy12 very sorry to hear you're feeling that rough, I would definitely speak to your doc.

Jonsey1987 · 02/07/2020 12:20

I had an etopic in March so it's NHS scan. Certainly feels different from last time. I've a list of questions to ask tomorrow such as - should I be getting my hair dyed next week at the hairdressers and I'll ask if they can prescribe anti sickness. I'll ring the midwife tomorrow too make it offical ha ha! I suffer from migraines but my tablets are not to be used in pregnancy - I'll speak to them first tomorrow before ringing the docs!

CEBT · 02/07/2020 13:01

Hi everyone. It's really nice reading everyone's comments so I know I'm not alone in feeling super anxious and about the nausea! I had my booking in appointment yesterday and was told my due date at the moment is the 12th Feb. I have a private scan tomorrow at 8 weeks and I'm so nervous. It's my first pregnancy so all new to me and really helps seeing all of your messages :)

growlatthetrees · 02/07/2020 14:38

Hiya can I join? Was on here before I’m about 8 weeks and 6 days with my 4th baby.

KW4816 · 02/07/2020 14:45

@Jonsey1987 all the best very much sending good vibes Smile

@CEBT ahh all the best for your scan too! I think I am going to book one for 8 weeks Smile

LuluHoops · 02/07/2020 15:57

Hey Ladies - can I join too please?! I've been watching and reading for a few weeks now 🙈😂
I am approximately 8 weeks tomorrow and have my booking in phone call on Tuesday and meeting the midwife on Wednesday!
First pregnancy for my husband and I - also in the UK!
Is there a facebook group you're all on too? 🧐
Lovely to read everyone's experiences and chat to others who are also going through pregnancy now too!
X

SunSparkle · 02/07/2020 16:45

I'm 9 + 4 today and I've booked in a scan for 11.5 weeks as my partner can't come to the NHS one at 12 weeks. I've just been prescribed Cyclizine today as the nausea and vomiting just got too much for me this week. Will let you know how I feel tomorrow and if I think it's helping. I've felt so awful the last few days and I've lost 7 pounds in the last month. I'm not even vomiting that much - just feel sick and tired all the time!

emvy · 02/07/2020 17:32

Since I decided to call the gp about nausea it’s actually really improved but what’s got worse is the god-awful taste in my mouth! It’s horrid! It starts off not to bad in the morning but by lunchtime I’m beside myself. It’s only not there if I’m physically eating but as soon as I’ve swallowed the food it’s back. That’s if I can stomach even eating through the nausea. It’s making me utterly miserable. I’m counting down the days to 12 weeks in the hope I get some respite from these symptoms. Definitely didn’t have them as bad with DS.

Still waiting to hear back from the midwife. I’m getting anxious about getting a scan date in place as lots of you seem to have them. I’m sure it’s fine but I like to know when things are happening!

Sorry to hear lots of you are still suffering. @lydiangel83 my mum didn’t say there were any down sides although I didn’t ask her to elaborate on why she said not to bother. I actually think she’s wrong & if you’re struggling with nausea you should see the gp.. why struggle through when you could be ok, as long as there’s no risk to baby which there wouldn’t be with meds prescribed in pregnancy! My mum is a bit of an old school midwife 😂

Welcome newbies!

CWF123 · 02/07/2020 19:04

Iv been MIA for a few days I been feeling pretty rough! For anyone feeling sick honestly the sickness bands are really helpful and dry crackers! I'm Having a good day today though and just managed a decent meal all carbs Mins 😂
Sorry to hear a lot of you are suffering I hope it eases soon!
I have my phone all with the midwife, it was fine and she said my 12 week scan will arrive in a week or so! I'm so excited but absolutely gutted my bf can't come, we've decide to book a private scan at 17/18 weeks to find out the gender together :)
Iv definitely noticed a difference in my tummy and boobs! My belly is looking PLUMP and my boobs have grow and look abit more vainy then usual but it says that's normal... I just past 9 weeks now still feeling anxious but definitely excited aswell :) x

lydiangel83 · 02/07/2020 21:08

I'm feeling rotten today and tiredness doesn't help!

EssJayyCee · 03/07/2020 13:56

Hi everyone.
Slightly worried because I had really awful fatigue for around a week and now its disappeared!

No bleeding but a few very mild cramps.
I am getting worried.

I have an early scan tomorrow but I am bracing myself for no heartbeat Sad

VAM24 · 03/07/2020 14:00

@CEBT how did your scan go? Hope it went well!

@EssJayyCee I have one tomorrow too and also super nervous. There is a much better chance that everything is fine so trying to hold on to that. Good luck. Really hope it goes well for both of us! X

KW4816 · 03/07/2020 14:24

@EssJayyCee - @VAM24 is right, there is a better chance it will be OK! Let us know how you get on! Smile

I started to take Lactulose yesterday and thank god today I feel far less uncomfortable and bloated, I will be taking it daily until I feel back to my usual self - hopefully!

I have booked in a mid 8 week scan, mostly because I want to ensure me and hubs get to go to one together but also for piece of mind as I understand that if there is a heartbeat at this stage there is a far lesser risk.

Anyway I hope you all have a lovely weekend Smile

Jonsey1987 · 03/07/2020 14:48

Had my scan today at 6+1, they thought I was 5-6ish. Everything OK - phew! Lots of tears!!
@essjayycee I had cramps too for about a week - especially when I stopped and rested?!
Fingers crossed with your scans guys!

VAM24 · 03/07/2020 14:52

Yay! Congrats @Jonsey1987!

CEBT · 03/07/2020 17:21

I've just got back from my scan. There were two babies, but only one had a heartbeat and was measuring 8 weeks and 2 days. The other had no heartbeat and measured 6 weeks and 5 days. They have referred me to the hospital for a follow up but I'm still really in shock tbh.

EssJayyCee · 03/07/2020 17:45

Thank you for trying to reassure me @VAM24 @jonsey1987 @Kw4816 I just can't help thinking negatively though. Especially after miscarrying before.

I really hope my scan can regain my positive thoughts tomorrow! 🤞🏻 but right now I'm not feeling hopeful!
