Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@CWF123 sorry, I don’t know. I had my booking appointment done and she ordered the scan at the same time, the letter took 2 days to come through. How long have you been waiting? She said if it starts to get close to the 12 week mark to call and chase. Maybe give it a week? Xx

I had my initial midwife appt on the 22nd and not had a date though for the 12 week scan.... this will be from the hospital not the clinic I had bloods done... I might chase on Wednesday to just make sure I'd hate to have it later due to me not chasing!
Thank you

Welcome all newcomers! Great to see lockdown is producing lots of BFP tests! re symptoms everyone is so different, i only have sore boobs, some dizziness and tiredness not much else.

I got my scan date for 31st July, will be 12wks 1 day. My booking in appointment is on the 4th August though seems strange as everyone else has theirs before on here Hmm. Going for early scan at 8 weeks on Wed. Very nervous/excited.

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 14:01

I completed an online form for my maternity unit today and just had a call from a midwife.
I've got an appointment in 2 weeks for my bloods, I'll be 7 weeks then x

VAM24 · 29/06/2020 14:37

@CWF123 I think it's so different depending on where you are. I just got my telephone booking appointment date through for 6th July which will be 10 weeks based on LMP. They said after that they'll send the scan letter and will do bloods at the scan.

Before I got the booking appointment they said it was normal to not hear until 10 weeks so I hadn't chased them yet.

@Kwmac good luck for the early scan. Hope it goes well!! I have mine on Saturday and sooo nervous!

Jonsey1987 · 29/06/2020 17:18

Welcome newbys!!
I'm about 5 + 4 and when I stop whether it's sitting on the sofa or lying in bed I get like a pressure low down - Almost like mild period pain it lasts 5 mins or less each time. It doesn't seem to be on one side. Has anyone else felt anything? I spent all last week bloated this week I'm just porky, can anyone else feel anything and am I being ridiculous at 5 weeks!!??

Summerrp · 29/06/2020 17:43

Is anyone else absolutely exhausted. I'm coming up 7 weeks, first pregnancy and I've never known anyone to complain so early on. I feel a hypercondriac but I literally am drained and all I have done today is sleep.
Due back on a 12 hour shift Tom and Weds and absolutely dreading it.

katiemc89 · 29/06/2020 18:31

@summerrp I am 7+3 and I have napped every day and complain about feeling sick all day long. I don’t remember feeling like this in my first pregnancy so I think it’s just the luck of the draw. X

VAM24 · 29/06/2020 18:37

@Summerrp I'm also exhausted. Going to bed super early and still needing to nap! Hope your shift flies by x

Summerrp · 29/06/2020 19:01

Aw thank you ladies, glad it isnt just me x

Peach1204 · 29/06/2020 20:15

@Summerrp I have had two naps today. Yesterday and today have been my worst for tiredness. I'm 5+5 and feel like I'm a bit needy! Xxx

lydiangel83 · 30/06/2020 07:43

I'm nearly 11 weeks now and have had 2-3 wks of feeling so nauseous that I can't sleep at night. It's definitely worse than first pregnancy so after early scan to eliminate twins I guess it's down to tiredness. Every night is a write off, just go to bed and can't sleep, and it's really hard. also growing loads put on 5kg in 2 wks and just from eating due to nausea. Anti nausea meds from GP produce trapped wind and also uncomfortable. Hope everyone else is feeling better!

katiemc89 · 30/06/2020 08:34

@lydiangel83 sounds like you’re having an awful time of it. I’m feeling the nausea and tiredness but not as bad as you. Hopefully it starts to settle down for you. Crazy how we react so differently to different pregnancies. I wasn’t like this with my first either xx

Hi all.

Im 7+3 PG with my first child.

Struggling with NVP and been prescribed medication by the GP and signed off for a week.

Really struggling with how crummy I feel and trying to be kind to myself and remember baby is most important.

Anyone else struggling or got any top tips?

1stTimeParent · 30/06/2020 17:53

Hi all! I’m 7+1 and only found out on Saturday so still I’m complete shock! Waiting for my call with my midwife for my initial chat/medical history! I have PCOS and only came off the pill in March so quite surprised to be pregnant already!

We were due to get married 20/06/2020 which is why I came off the pill in March as I thought it might take me a while to get pregnant, wedding has now been postponed to 17/04/2021 due to the current pandemic and will now be due 2 months before, whoops!

The pregnancy world is very new to me to really enjoy reading all your posts for an idea of what to expect and what’s normal! I’ve currently had no symptoms which is quite disconcerting so hoping to get a private scan booked in to check all is ok!

X

VAM24 · 30/06/2020 18:07

@FlowersInMyHair85 I have medication from the gp too which helps. Some of my tips below (not sure how good they are as I still feel awful almost always!)

Medication
Ice lollies
Lots of sleep
Small frequent food (eating makes me feel ill but often feel a bit better after I've eaten)
Sea sickness bands from amazon

I really can't wait for the nausea to calm down it's tough!

FlowersInMyHair85 · 30/06/2020 18:11

@VAM24 thanks for the reply. All tips gratefully received.

Sbzion · 30/06/2020 18:45

What medication have you been prescribed I’ve also really struggling with nausea I’ve 3 other children to look after while my partners at word it’s hard going !

emvy · 30/06/2020 19:07

Girls I am so glad to hear you’ve been prescribed medication for nausea. I am REALLY struggling. I remember it being bad with DS but not this bad. I have to eat continually to not feel sick but also can’t stomach most things and definitely no meals. I spoke to my mum, who’s a midwife, & she said as I’m not incapacitated being sick I shouldn’t bother but if you girls think it’s worth it?? It’s made a difference?? I really am beside myself and looking after DS is so hard.

I’ve also not heard back from the midwife let alone my 12 week scan! Really hoping I hear something soon.

lydiangel83 · 30/06/2020 19:07

Thanks @katiemc89 it is tough isn't it!? Hope we all feel better soon!

lydiangel83 · 30/06/2020 19:09

@emvy I'm not being sick but was such a struggle to look after DD that I got tablets from doc, first lot helped a bit but not much but second lot (cyclizine hydrochloride) did help more. They gave me trapped wind so still uncomfortable but not as bad as nausea! Hmm

emvy · 30/06/2020 20:08

Thanks @lydiangel83, I think I might bite the bullet & call them. I’m really not fun to be around at the moment. Let’s hope it eases as soon as we have the reassurance of our 12 week scans Smile

lydiangel83 · 30/06/2020 20:46

@emvy what did your mum say we're downsides of taking meds?
