Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

I had an early scan last week at 8 weeks because hadn't had date through for 12 wk scan and meant DH could come too. Saw a tiny heartbeat and little sack - was amazing. DH had also convinced himself it was twins as I am so much sicker than last time, so he was very relieved to find it wasn't!

CWF123 · 24/06/2020 22:30

@lydiangel83 aww that's good! I think I'm 8 weeks today... well according to my app! Do you have a little bump? I had a flat ish tummy 8 weeks ago and now it's definitely looking like Iv had a HUGE roast dinner 😂 I got this isn't going to be a sign I'm going to be huge 🙈

lydiangel83 · 24/06/2020 22:35

@CWF123 yes defo a bump but think it's as much lockdown overindulgence as baby-related lol. I can't believe how quickly my body has changed shape, put on 5kg in 2-3 wks! I think due to eating lots due to nausea

CWF123 · 25/06/2020 07:37

@lydiangel83 yeah I can definitely see my body changing it's so mad!!
Iv not put on any weight really Iv been the opposite with nausea Iv not been able to stomach anything other then bread and crackers! Oh and icelollies!! I'm hoping it eases soon to be able to eat abit healthier!!

katiemc89 · 25/06/2020 08:41

I feel you girls on the changing bodies. I was actually just googling if it’s normal for my ribs to be expanding this early. My ribs feel huge already! Also, I weighed myself and I’ve gained a lb. I can live with that lol

@katiemc89 it's mad how much they change so early on! It's going to be so weird with a big bump!
I'm so conscious of sleeping on my back I know it's not a big issue till after 12 weeks but I'm trying to get out of the habit! I sometimes find myself on my front aswell and definitely need to stop that.

Jonsey1987 · 25/06/2020 09:02

Has anyone found any good apps to download?

CWF123 · 25/06/2020 12:58

@Jonsey1987 Iv downloaded pregnancy plus, I think it's really good so much information on there and bit for your partner aswell.

I found out last Wednesday I am expecting. Based on my last period I could be due around 6th Feb (according to NHS calculator) but I have PCOS and longer cycles... anything between 30 and 35 days - so I am getting a dating scan tomorrow. I am a little nervous but also excited.

Out of curiosity anyone with a scan scheduled have you been told partners cannot attend? I have to go alone. I also looked at a private clinic and they advised I would also have to go alone - so I do not see the point of paying £110 if my hubby cannot come.

CWF123 · 25/06/2020 13:48

@SunshineAsh congratulations!! Is the dating scan because you have PCOS? My first scan will be 12-13 week a month is a lonnnng wait!!! I under the impression private scans can have partners but I have personally booked one? Maybe each clinic has different rules with them being privately owned

Peach1204 · 25/06/2020 13:56

@SunshineAsh congratulations! You found out the same day as me! I have a blood test booked for in a couple of weeks and for that and the scan only I can go in. However, we have booked a private early scan (for 8 weeks) and he will be coming to that. There were 3 places near us (closest 22 miles, furthest 30 miles) which do private scans so is there another one you could look at? Our first scan is £89 with just a picture (you could add extras like videos and heart beat recordings which we haven't done...yet! 😂) xxx

SunshineAsh · 25/06/2020 14:11

@cwf123 I think its because they were unable to date it easily due to my longer cycles. So they are doing this before my official booking appointment. After the scan the midwife will call me gain and go through my full history etc.

@peach1204 I only found the one but didn't do a full search. I will look at other options. I really want my husband to be able to enjoy that moment too

Peach1204 · 25/06/2020 14:51

@SunshineAsh definitely see if you can find somewhere. Whether DH was allowed to nhs scans or not we would do private scans anyway. I feel at this time they are even more important as DH/partners should be able to experience the scans too. I wouldn't want my DH missing out. Xxx

katiemc89 · 25/06/2020 15:14

@CWF123 I was a front sleeper before I fell pregnant the first time. You won’t be comfortable on your front or back for long anyway (lets be honest, trying to sleep sucks when you’re pregnant 😂)

@SunshineAsh we have booked and early scan and my partner can attend. Maybe shop around. A lot of the private ones are now allowing 1 guest

CWF123 · 25/06/2020 15:18

@SunshineAsh ahh that makes sense how exciting you'll be having that soon though! Keep us posted how it goes!

@katiemc89 yes that is true sleeping is so overrated anyway 😂 I use to be such a good sleeper and I don't sleep well at all at the min! Maybe from 3am 7am is when I'm getting my best sleep taker so long to get comfortable? As soon as I'm 12 weeks and things are okay I might buy a pregnancy pillow

SunshineAsh · 25/06/2020 15:26

Yes someone on here mentioned window to the womb. There is one about 30-35 min from me (and seem reasonable cost) so we may pay for the scan if he isn't allowed in for the next one.
I like the look of the 3d/4d ones too but not sure if that's too weird. I remember my sister had a 3d scan 11 years ago with my niece and she never looked the same when she was born. But back then it was because she wanted to know the gender and her hospital wasn't doing it.

VAM24 · 25/06/2020 19:18

@CWF123 @katiemc89 I'm a front sleeper too!! I've read it's ok for now but will likely get uncomfortable soon. I'm also planning to buy a pregnancy pillow but don't want to until 12 week scan - such a fear of jinxing things!!

How is everyone coping in this heat? ☀️ it is not doing good things for my nausea or sleeping!

CWF123 · 25/06/2020 19:23

@VAM24 oh I didn't know it was okay to still sleep on your front Iv had a pillow being me to stop me rolling on my front 😂
We just slept with a sheet last night and a fan! It was warm but a lot more manageable! Today's the first day in two weeks I'm managed to eat anything other than carbs! Was so so nice my nausea has eased off slightly today thank god!! I'm sure I'm get hit with something else soon 🙈

SunshineAsh · 26/06/2020 17:20

I have been advised my pregnancy is ectopic. So it doesnt look like I will be in the February club. I wish you all amazingly healthy and successful pregnancies.

I think I will bow out of this thread for now.

Stay safe and blessed

katiemc89 · 26/06/2020 17:52

We have a private scan booked for next Saturday when I will be 7+6.

I am so nervous there won't be anything there but I am so excited at the same time!

Have any of you had a private scan?
