Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@emvy just take yourself now to a n e. Tell them your pregnant and bleeding. EPU is a 24 hours service. They will then send you straight to them hopefully to be checked out / scans / bloods. You shouldn't be told to wait!! Go now.

katiemc89 · 22/06/2020 17:17

@emvy oh hun, that sounds awful. The waiting would do me in too. I don’t think it’s fair to be asked to wait. I’ve never been in that situation before so I have no idea if that’s right or wrong. Sending hugs xxx

@Sbzion congratulations. 4!! Omg. You must be superwoman. I only have 1 and that’s still enough to keep me busy 😂. How old are the middle two? X

Thanks guys.

Because I’m not bleeding anymore, I don’t really feel like I can go to A&E. I have to refer to the EPU through my GP surgery - there’s no direct number. They basically called the EPU today & said they wouldn’t see my until I was 7 weeks and I would just have to wait until then. No other options. I actually called back & asked them to book me an appointment with the EPU for Friday, rather than having to go back through the GP and potentially having to wait over the weekend because I genuinely felt I couldn’t do that. They refused to put me on the call back list again for the GP this afternoon so they put a note on the doctor’s list so they would hopefully do it. She couldn’t confirm with me whether or not anyone would call back to tell me if I had a firm appointment with the EPU on Friday or not... so I don’t know what to think to be honest. They close at 6.30 so if I don’t hear back I’m booking a private scan for as soon as possible. I’m really disappointed in how it’s been handled. This is the first time I’ve felt let down by the system. They’ve always been good before this.

Jonsey1987 · 22/06/2020 19:00

If you go through a and e I don't think they can say no. My EPU is open 24/ 7 but they scan during 'working hours' but you can still see an expert and be examined. Last time they looked to see of my cervix was still closed and booked me in for a scan the day after. It's up to you - my fingers are crossed x x

emvy · 22/06/2020 19:08

@Jonsey1987, I should’ve gone to a&e yesterday when I was bleeding instead of trusting in the system. But now that I’m not bleeding I don’t feel I can go really?

Jonsey1987 · 22/06/2020 19:12

If your unsure ring 111...

Summerrp · 22/06/2020 19:46

I spent yeserday in urgent care unit at the hospital because of the severe stomach cramps I keep getting.
DR given me ompramazol for wind but I'm no better today, I have spent the day crying and rocking on the toilet. I feel there is some kind of bowel or colon spasms going on and they are unbearable :(

lydiangel83 · 22/06/2020 19:46

@emvy hope you're doing ok? Catching up on messages, have put on so much weight in a few weeks as can't stop eating to stop nausea. Boobs are getting huge already and I'm only 8-9 weeks! Have 12 wk scan booked for 15th July which feels ages away! I have anti nausea tablets from GP which help (first lot didn't but swapped drug) but cause a lot of trapped wind / tummy discomfort

emvy · 24/06/2020 16:57

@Summerrp I’m so sorry you’re struggling, that sounds awful! How are you doing now? Is the medication helping?

Thank you @Jonsey1987 and @lydiangel83. I managed to eventually get a referral this morning from the GP and had a scan this afternoon. I’m thrilled to say that they could see a baby with a heartbeat! Honestly can’t believe it! So relieved. Measuring about 4 days behind so just 6 weeks instead of 6+4 but they weren’t worried about that and I’m not 100% certain of ovulation date so hopefully that’s fine. They could see a hematoma which they said was probably the cause of the bleed and to expect a little more.

Hope everyone is doing ok and are coping in this heat with yucky symptoms!

EssJayyCee · 24/06/2020 17:00

Hi everyone how are you all doing?

I don't know why but I am having a negative nelly day.

My books have been tender and full since I found out but now I swear they aren't as full and are not as tender and in my head that means something is going to go wrong.

I have had a bit of nausea and fatigue but I've also been battling with a bout of IBS so I'm not sure if its that or pregnancy.

I'm worried the symptoms I think I have aren't there.

I have had my 12 week scan appointment through so it all feels so real now. Too real almost!

I am still so scared of something going wrong. I wish I could fast forward to the scan.
We are going to book a scan for the 4th July for reassurance but I feel like by then something bad is going to happen. :(

Anyone got any reassuring words for me?

CWF123 · 24/06/2020 17:37

Glad all is okay @emvy
How far gone are you @EssJayyCee
I had my first midwife appt on Monday... was so quick! They said the process has changed since covid so was just bloods height and weight and then off I went! They said they will do all the follow up on the phone but didn't say when! They said I would get a letter for my 12 week scan but didn't say how long it takes for that to come though!
Iv been feeling really shit recently my nausea had been horrific I ended up getting some nausea bands and they help a bit but not a lot! Hoping this eases soon! I think I wish I'd booked an early scan now but I think I should be seen in 4-6 weeks?

Jonsey1987 · 24/06/2020 18:19

@emvy phew!! Was thinking a lot about you! What good news.
@Summerrp hope your feeling better soon
@lydiangel83 / @EssJayyCee I think my symptoms are up and down... I spent all last week bloated and weeing and this week absolutely nothing! My boobs haven't grown (I'm Only 5 weeks) bit of sensitive nips but nothing!!

Is anyone struggling in this weather?? Im totally whacked today! Feel about 80!

VAM24 · 24/06/2020 18:21

@emvy omg I'm so happy for you!!! So glad you got to have an early scan and all was ok. 😊

My nausea is really taking over my life I'm on 2 diff medications from the gp but still feeling sick all the time. So glad I'm able to work from home as I can nap between meetings. My early scan is in 10 days so I'm really hoping that goes well. Still haven't heard anything from the midwives yet hopefully will do soon.

katiemc89 · 24/06/2020 18:36

@emvy that’s great news. So happy to hear all is going well in there.

@CWF123 I’ve booked myself an early scan, I’ll be 8+6 by that point. Wanted to wait until the 8 week mark to get as much reassurance all is going ok in there. Fingers crossed. How many weeks are you now?

lifefromhome · 24/06/2020 18:40

@Summerrp I'm so sorry you're feeling rubbish, hopefully the medication will start working soon, and you will be feeling better in no time.

So glad you managed to get your scan done @emvy you must be so relieved, hopefully it's given you the reassurance you needed?

@EssJayyCee You're not alone feeling like a negative nelly, I am having one of those days, I hope it's just today at least. I feel like all my symptoms have disappeared today, which has sent my anxiety through the roof. Every little pain or cramp I'm worried. When is your 12 week scan? I don't know wether to book a private one for 7 or 8 weeks, fear my dates may be out and I will go and they won't see anything

CWF123 · 24/06/2020 18:47

@VAM24 my nausea has been really bad but these bands do seem to help abit and really writes but ice lollies and plain crackers are helping to! So hard being in the office and keeping it under wraps! Especially when Iv only need there a week 🙈
@katiemc89 bet you can't wait for you scan!! I'm about 8 weeks I think according to when my last period was but I get so confused with fetal age and gestational age! 🙈

katiemc89 · 24/06/2020 18:57

@CWF123 haha, it’s too confusing that you’re classed as pregnant before you’ve even ovulated lol. You could always see how quickly you could get an early scan booked for if you felt you wanted one. The only reason we’re having one is so my partner can be there

lydiangel83 · 24/06/2020 18:59

Sorry to hear others are suffering with nausea too, it really sucks! I'm piling on weight as eating seems to help, and bought some ginger boiled sweets in Holland and Barrett earlier. Boobs swelling up are my ideal size now - free temporary boob job lol

Summerrp · 24/06/2020 19:07

Thank you everyone, feeling so much better today and had a great sleep last night. Really hoping whatever was going in with my bowel has ended and I can get on now and enjoy.
I have had slight morning sickness but ginger biscuits seem to be working at easing that. I can deal with that just not that horrible pain.

I still cant believe I'm going to be a mummy Smile

VAM24 · 24/06/2020 19:07

@CWF123 yes! I got sickness bands too. I have no idea if they are working but too scared to take them off now in case I get worse. Totally agree on ice lollies I'm obsessed and they defo help for 10 mins! I'm tryna stay positive and hope that the sickness is a good sign.

@lydiangel83 I know what you mean about eating. I'm finding that actually eating makes me feel ill but once I've eaten I definitely feel a bit better - such a hard balance!!

@EssJayyCee my early scan is also 4th July and someone else on here was the same (sorry can't remember username) hopefully it'll be a good day for all of us. I'm super anxious about it but also can't wait, I think I'll be 8+3 then.

Have most people booked early scans? When for?

CWF123 · 24/06/2020 19:08

@katiemc89 I think I might wait till Iv have the phone call with my midwife and then see how I feel as they are super expensive... I want to book a private one at 17/18 weeks with my bf so we can find out the sex together before the 20 week scan... such a shame partnered aren't allowed in for the scans!

Summerrp · 24/06/2020 19:08

@emvy so so pleased for you :)

emvy · 24/06/2020 19:09

Thank you all. I’m feeling so much better. I know this isn’t a given still and anything could happen between now and 12 weeks but at least I know that the bleed wasn’t a miscarriage, or a sign of a missed one, and baby is (for now) ok in there!

@EssJayyCee it’s completely normal for symptoms to come and go. You probably feel anxious because you got your letter through, I remember feeling the same when I got the letter for DS’ 12 week scan. Hold in there & I’m sure your symptoms will be back!

Nausea has been off the scale for me the past few days as well. Today has been by far the worst so I don’t know if the heat hasn’t helped. I didn’t know about the bands though, might look into those. I’m usually such a sun worshipper but I’ve not wanted to be outside at all! The heat is tough!

Hope all the early scans go well! Very exciting.

CWF123 · 24/06/2020 19:11

@VAM24 yeah I keep thinking this it's so hard to stay positive and focused when your feeling so shit though but hopefully it means good things!! I'm just greatful I'm not actually being sick at the min! My boobs are still sore and my nipples but they have definitely eased off compared to a few weeks ago!!
I have been swapping the bands on my wrist incase that makes any difference 😂😂
