Hi everyone, I know it’s kind of early but I just found out my partner and I are expecting. I don’t have any pregnant friends so thought it might be nice to chat to some fellow mummies/mommies who might be expecting around the same time.

A bit about me - I’m Katie, live in the UK and have a daughter who is almost 3.

Hope to get to chat to some of you Smile

@LucyGrace19961 I'm exactly the same, I think I've taken 8 proper tests and numerous internet cheapies, I'm a bit fascinated seeing the lines get darker.

@emvy I had more achey boobs during ovulation than anything, they still ache now just with this added nipple pain/sensitivity.

Will the midwife calculate from first day of last period until you have your scan?

LucyGrace19961 · 18/06/2020 08:42

@lifefromhome that’s amazing! 😂 I’m glad someone else is in the same boat as me.

Summerrp · 18/06/2020 09:23

Oh I had an awful night waking every hour with awful pains in stomach. I think it's a mixture of constipation and trapped wind but I have been in tears most of the night Sad

katiemc89 · 18/06/2020 09:35

@Summerrp that sounds awful. Sorry you’re suffering. Could it be your pregnancy vitamins? If you’re taking pregnacare of the like it might be causing your to be a bit bunged up. You could either swap them or eat some prunes to make sure everything is softened. Iron in supplements really mess up my digestion so could be something like that for you. Hope you feel better xx

@katiemc89 Thank you. Yes I think it is the pregnacare. I was taking them in the morning and getting awful headaches by lunchtime so started taking them at night and now this. I think it's my body telling me they just don't agree with me.

I have gone to boots and just got the folic acid and vit D and also got some Peppermint Tea

Also threw myself onto the crosstrainer just now for a slow 10 mins I thought abit of exercise may help.

Hope everyone is keeping well

Poppyismyfavourite · 18/06/2020 13:55

@LucyGrace19961 haha yes I don't feel like it's real. Just got my third positive test this morning, wanted the reassurance of the line darkening as I don't feel any nausea...

LucyGrace19961 · 18/06/2020 17:22

@Poppyismyfavourite I literally have 0 symptoms and 6 positive tests.. I’m sure within time I will be suffering 😂

Stef92 · 18/06/2020 17:47

Hi all, I got my positive test today. We have been trying for a year! I have horrific nausea already and we are only 4 weeks in! I called my GP today to ask what to do as it's our first time and I was given a number for booking in scans etc, they have then told me they won't speak to me until I'm 7/8 weeks. Feel a bit abandoned but I guess this is due to Covid? have asked for a phone appointment with the doctor on Monday instead! Our due date according to nhs 23rd Feb.

emvy · 18/06/2020 19:09

@Summerrp, I’ve been having really bad cramps related to digestion and bloating at night too. Interestingly I also take my pregnancy vitamins in the evening. I might try moving it earlier in the day to see if that helps! Hope you feel better on the vitamin D and folic acid.

Welcome @Stef92! Congrats! It’s very normal for them not to do anything until 8-10 weeks. They don’t usually do much before then although in some places they do. I’ve not even called to book yet, will be 6 weeks tomorrow so been waiting for then. Booking in will be booked for 8ish weeks. I know it seems ages but you’ll get there! Meanwhile, we’re all here to support you Smile

Stef92 · 18/06/2020 21:22

@emvy we had no idea, we assumed that the GP would want to confirm things by their own test/bloods - completely new to do is as you can probably tell! Working from home due to the pandemic has its plus as if I had to go to the office I would've had to call in sick I feel that awful! X

Poppyismyfavourite · 19/06/2020 08:01

@Stef92 I've just got my booking in appointment, I'll be 8+4

LittleMissBlatherskite · 19/06/2020 10:38

Hi ladies,

This is such a wonderful group, hope you don't mind me joining.

I'm 32, from south east England, got my first BFP on Monday, due 22nd Feb with our first baby. We were lucky enough to fall pregnant first time trying, we're a little surprised to say the least!

Only symptoms so far are feeling extremely tired and little twinges, hoping to avoid morning sickness 🤞

Stef92 · 19/06/2020 11:16

I forgot to say I'm 27, I will be 28 in August and from the North East Smile

@poppyismyfavourite I am just going to call for an appointment in 3/4 weeks time when I'm 7/8 weeks. The woman I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude, I had no idea I wasn't supposed to call and she didn't even bother to explain to me so I had to phone the GP back!

Summerrp · 19/06/2020 12:24

Just recieved my dating scan for the 13th August. Starting to feel abit real now :) I will be 12 weeks 6 days.

Very sad however we have to go alone with no partner.

wannabe123 · 19/06/2020 14:09

@LucyGrace19961 glad I'm not the only one testing!

I got sent home from work yesterday as occupational health decided I shouldn't be in a classroom if I can work from home. I'm a little bit gutted and feel very guilty as I don't really have any symptoms at all yet!

Poppyismyfavourite · 19/06/2020 15:06

@Stef92 ah that doesn't sound right at all, sorry they were rude. You'd think they must get a good number of first time mums who have no idea what the procedure is!

I called the GP and the receptionist gave me the number for the midwife team. Then I called them and the lady took some details and said someone would call me back to arrange the booking in apt. The next day I got that call, she took my emial to send me the forms, and gave me a time for the booking in.
They were all very friendly though and said congratulations!

Jonsey1987 · 19/06/2020 15:15

@Summerrp you never know yet a lot happens between now and August. I hope you'll be allowed to take someone.
@wannabe123 how far along are you - I'm a teacher and I'm 50/50 about telling school. I told them at the beginning of March (mainly because of unknown corona risks) and mc a couple of weeks later. I'm in mon / fri for 3 hours each time. I'm secondary so doing the whole 2m thing.
@poppyismyfavourite you've probably just given me the nudge to get into contact with my epu (who told me to ring as soon as I found out I was pregnant) I've been putting it off. I'm 4w +1 it feels so early! I still think ill ring them Mon / Tues?!?!

wannabe123 · 19/06/2020 17:16

@Jonsey1987 I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I'm about 4 or 5 weeks. I was unsure about telling my head but as my mum put it the baby has to come first. I'd much rather be in school but if something did go wrong, I would feel worse I suppose.

Jonsey1987 · 19/06/2020 17:27

@wannabe123 I'm so torn. I was glad I'd told them last time as I didn't have to justify sickness. I was in and out of hosp for monitoring every 48 hours for 2 weeks as it was found In my tube - I wasn't off the whole time. I'm working my way up to ringing the epu to book in for a scan next week or the week after. I'm not sure whether they'll want to take 48 hour bloods again or they will just scan me. I found I was pregnant at 3w +3 but I'm convincing myself it's still too early! I just keep thinking if I can do the next 4 weeks I'll tell school. In Sept?!

emvy · 19/06/2020 18:15

@wannabe123 @Jonsey1987, I’m a teacher too and really torn. I’m not in at the moment as I don’t have childcare for DS but they’re keen for me to get back ASAP, understandably. I really don’t feel that I can tell them I’m pregnant when I’ve had all this time off and they’ve been amazing about it. I’m thinking of holding out until September if I can get away with it, or until the summer holidays if I see my head in school at some point then. We’re in bubbles of about 10 children and 2 adults so it’s not loads but they’re Reception and Year 1 so have no idea of social distancing! I’d also only be in 2 days a week until summer so no more than 6 days really. So hard to decide what to do! They’re going to be annoyed I think!

wannabe123 · 19/06/2020 18:53

@emvy @Jonsey1987 I was really torn because I felt safe in school and wanted to carry on but I think I would have gotten anxious about trying to hide it from my Head. It doesn't help that the guidance is so unclear about whether we can be in this early. The other way I thought about is that I haven't been trying to get pregnant for the time off work so I'm going to try to not feel so guilty about it.

Jonsey1987 · 22/06/2020 10:23

I've just booked my early scan (at my epu) for next Friday (3rd) I'm so anxious!! I'll be 6+ 1 w! Before bed I keep getting wierd almost like period pains in possibly my uterus and I've been bloated for about a week been peeing a little more often. My mindset isnt great and I think I will need the reassurance - I'm a nervous wreck and I wanted to enjoy my pregnancy! My OH told His Mum too yesterday - she's really excited and we then had to tell her we previously lost one.

emvy · 22/06/2020 12:41

That’s exciting @Jonsey1987, hope all goes well.

To be honest I think this pregnancy is failing. I had a huge bleed yesterday and lots of cramping. Brown spotting and some cramps now. They won’t see me at the EPU until I’m 7 weeks (which is Friday) but I have to speak to the GP first mid morning on Friday before then being referred to the EPU so it’s looking like probably a week until I can get a scan. I’m all over the place. I’m meant to be working and looking after my DS and I can’t do anything but obsess. This will be my third miscarriage and they’re just not bothered about how I’m feeling at all. Sorry to bring negativity!

Sbzion · 22/06/2020 13:05

Hi I’m also due around the 14th of February with my 4th! I’m only 28! My eldest is 8!
Fun times ahead I’m sure Hmm
Bit anxious but here we go! 🤞🏽❤️ Congratulations Everyone

Kwmac · 22/06/2020 14:06

@emvy I am so sorry to hear you are going through such a bad time. Would your GP not take a call from you today even just to provide a bit of reassurance to you? I know it is easy to say but try not to stress too much as it will only be counterproductive. Surely someone medical would speak to you at this stage, have you tried calling the EPU for advice? I know they might not see you but surely they can do something. It seems very cold if no one is willing to give you advice. I have my fingers cross for you that all will work out.
