Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

@stairgates you say 'design' but rally it's a make it up as you go along kind of design!

Frazzlerock · 29/05/2020 08:44

@footprintsintheslow I love that! I really like those colours.

Mine's mostly treble stitch. with a little chain stitch and double thrown in to make that pattern.

@stairgates I've no sewing skills either. I can't sew on my son's cubs/scouts badges. I use my trusty glue gun Grin Then get found out by the pack leaders when they fall off!
My mum bought me a sewing machine a couple of years ago and I keep forgetting how to use it. I'd hoped to become some crafting whizz but I've only managed crochet and that was nearly brushed aside when I couldn't seem to work it out. But then a friend gave me a beginners book and I cracked it. Took me a long time though.

@EveningReflection lovely scan pic. I'm no good at guessing the sex so I would have to give you a complete random guess. So I'm saying boy just to be different Grin

Morning all.

sheera I’m sorry about the bloods! Do you know when you can go again? What a pain!

footprints and frazzle I’m impressed those both look great. I had a brief moment contemplating making ‘something’ for the baby during lockdown but I have zero practical skills of any kind so the idea fizzled out quickly. Poor baby!

Our bedside cot arrived yesterday and I was 31 weeks yesterday too. Next week we’re finally having our flooring fitted after living with no carpet/ flooring downstairs since just before lockdown. Then I’m really hoping out tip will open up a bit more, we can clear some of the crap out of the garage, make some room upstairs and sort at least one of the bedrooms so it’s fit to welcome a baby - or at least has room for one. There will be no Pinterest worthy nursery sadly, money and time both running out!

EveningReflection · 29/05/2020 09:11

@stairgates it's my first.

footprintsintheslow · 29/05/2020 11:31

@Frazzlerock it looks very classy. I'm going to aim for classy next time!

Clairyd121 · 29/05/2020 17:07

Hi Ladies, can I join as well, I'm 41 and due my first on the 27th June, have a low lying placenta which is currently being monitored really hoping I won't have to go in early.

footprintsintheslow · 29/05/2020 18:28

@Clairyd121 welcome here lovely, and congratulations to you. What are the implications of having a low lying placenta?

Clairyd121 · 30/05/2020 00:15

@footprintsintheslow this may cause bleeding which could lead to the baby being delivered early by CS. 36 weeks tomorrow was told last Monday by the midwife that I had glucose in the sample she checked and now I have to get the GD test done again, ate some porridge with honey before I went to the appointment wondering if that could have caused it.

footprintsintheslow · 30/05/2020 07:29

@Clairyd121 does the glucose point to anything to worry about? How do you feel about a CS?

Brightonmaman · 30/05/2020 08:09

@footprintsintheslow and @Frazzlerock you are both super talented! I'm absolutely rubbish at anything like that. Smile

I have my consultant appointment over the phone at the end of next month. So should I expect to be told that I'll be induced at term? I didn't know that was a thing.

Are any of you ladies struggling to fall asleep? I'm going to sleep so late compared to my first pregnancy when I'd be asleep by 9.30pm latest! Then toddler is up between 6-7am as usual Sad Perhaps I need to meditate.

Brightonmaman · 30/05/2020 08:13

I've updated the list! Thanks so much whoever took the time to do this Thanks
I had a private scan as well as an NHS one (due to NHS one being cancelled and postponed early on in lockdown, my nerves couldn't take it anymore!) so I have two different due dates! I'm going to go with this one if that's ok!

OldMaBear · 30/05/2020 10:15

Hi. Please can I join. I’ve just had my BFP and, if all goes well, will be due February 2021 by which time I’ll be 41. I’m also really really fat so I can’t wait for that consultation with “due to your weight” and “due to your age”.
My only saving grace is that I have no appetite so maybe I’ll lose a tiny bit now! But my stomach feels huge (ok, it always feels huge!) and really bloated.

OldMaBear · 30/05/2020 10:51

Sorry, I forgot to say that this is my first and due date is 1/2/21 so if they do go for an early induction it will be January.

footprintsintheslow · 30/05/2020 12:02

Hi @OldMaBear welcome here and congratulations. Do you have other children? I'm 40 and this will be my third, due in January.

mlctobe · 30/05/2020 12:18

Hi @footprintsintheslow how are you? I'm due in January too with my second. How old are your two? Mine is 6 months Confused

footprintsintheslow · 30/05/2020 12:40

@mlctobe my eldest is 20 and my other one is 2 years old. It's hard with a little one around isn't it? I'm feel so sick all the time I can barely parent some days.

OldMaBear · 30/05/2020 14:52

Hi @footprintsintheslow, thank you. No, this will be my first. Eek!

Sheera1 · 30/05/2020 18:30

Hi all. Had a huge fallout with DP so been off here a few days and really bummed about the bloods.

Going for a redraw in the 4th so results the week after and prob same time as the nhs ones. I get another free scan and DP can come to this one (if I am talking to him 🙄) as we have eased lockdown a little in Scotland and the private scan now allow a partner.

They have asked me to wait a week so the fetal DNA will have increase not sure what the problem is. Apparently it just is how much fetal DNA is in my vein and floating past when they take it. I am overweight and apparently have more of my own blood which means likely to have a lower percentage of fetal DNA or something. Sounds like a load of crap to me. My body is just being awkward

Hello to the new comers!

I am loving the blankets guys. I am sooo not crafty at all.

@Frazzlerock you and I are so similar my bump keeps disappearing too so think something is wrong. Feeling a bit more normal too so it is weird. I do bloat after I eat though!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/05/2020 18:59

Sympathy!!! @Sheerer1 I'm a massive worrier here!! Keep thinking something has/will go wrong. I've got my first consultants appointment next week. I still feel really nauseous nearly all the time. Wasn't actually sick this morning though and when I'm feeling better I think I do have a bit more energy. Had a terrible night the night before last and was up at 1:30am throwing up!

Sheera1 · 30/05/2020 19:58

@onlyreadingneverposting8 the nausea is so horrible. I was still feeling it up till a few days ago so hopefully you are almost there too. My consultant was so cold and clinical and I probably took that way too personally. Think you me and @Frazzlerock are all due within a week or two from each other.

Thoughts on travel?? I have flights to Spain and then Warsaw booked for October! I am not sure I will want to go anyway, but booked before I was pregnant and pregnancy was not on the cards or thought about lol. I will be 32 weeks and have a growth scan booked the morning we fly! Am thinking a GP letter saying I can't fly or I will lose money.

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/05/2020 20:13

I think October might be pushing it with flying! We were actually meant to be emigrating to NZ at the end of June - of course we aren't now as covid has scuppered it! DH has started his NZ job from here as he already works for the company. I've said there is now way I can fly now til after the birth - trying not to think about how flying all that way with covid still around! At least I know NZ won't have any 🤣

Fully expecting the consultant to be horrified by me! And I'll be prescribed lovely blood thinning injections to do for the rest of the pregnancy until 6 weeks post natal. My due date is 24/11 but I'm
Likely to be induced a little bit before.

Sheera1 · 30/05/2020 21:11

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I think you are me were separated at birth 😊. Klexane injections from 28 weeks and aspirin from 12 till the end. The consultant was horrified with me too I think. Or I was really over sensitive.

Yes we have sort of decided even if I was allowed to fly it would be a very bad thing u till a vaccine. I was going with my parents and my Dad is high risk too so think we will loose some money or can maybe change dates.

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/05/2020 21:25

@Sheera1 yup already on the aspirin! 🤣🤣 at least that doesn't hurt like the injections!!

LittleMiss7 · 30/05/2020 22:10

Hi all! Hope I'm not too late to join the party?! 😊 I'm 38, FTM and pregnant with DCDA twins due in October! Hope everyone's doing ok? X
