Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

Hi @Viennoise welcome Smile It's a weird feeling isn't it!

14 weeks tomorrow and still mega shattered. When does this new found energy kick in that my book has told me about?

Sheera1 · 27/05/2020 11:45

Frazzle I was saying the exact same thing to DP yesterday. I wasted the whole long weekend sleeping. Not been wiped out like that since about 9 weeks. Waiting for this amazing energy to kick in!

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 27/05/2020 13:32

@Sheera1 @Frazzlerock 14+1 still no energy...still almost constantly nauseous- couldn't get to sleep last night I was feeling so dreadful. Still being sick in the morning and over the toilet in the evening (most evenings). Oh and sinus headaches too!! Oh and my skin is so dry it's all peeling on my nose....it's so glam! 😳🤔🤣

Frazzlerock · 27/05/2020 13:38

Woah @onlyreadingneverposting8 you've got it BAD! Tiredness is enough for me thanks!

@Sheera1 wiped out is exactly it. was meant to take my DC to the basketball court on Monday afternoon. My eldest made himself some lunch and asked if I would take them when he was finished. about 20 seconds later I fell into a coma on the sofa. DP had to take them even though he was meant to be working. It just hits you doesn't it.

Sheera1 · 27/05/2020 14:37

Yes comes from nowhere. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up with DP choosing my nap to drill and saw when he had read a book all morning. I was not amused lol. He did then point out I had been in a coma for over 2 hours.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 that sounds awful. I still have awful nausea from about 3pm onwards not never actually sick and I think (not wanting to jinx it) it may be easing off a little. 15 weeks tomorrow.

Hoping NIPT 2nd blood test come back end of the week. Still no word from nhs which is 2 weeks now, though they said 4!

I am getting obsessed with changing bags and being spammed all over facebook. They are rucksacks but have all these awesome pockets and one the back extends out to form a wee travel bed!

I am trying it to think too far ahead or buy anything.

Also started getting obsessed with prams after the awesome ones posted on here.

I remember first time that the lie flat pram bit never got used.

I'm getting spammed on facebook too!! How does it know what I've looked at...slightly scary! I like watching YouTube reviews of things...🤭

EveningReflection · 28/05/2020 08:51

I have facebook set to not tailor adverts to me. So im currently being bombarded with adverts for fake tan, food (subscriptions) that turns my stomach and clothes being modelled by size 0 ladies Grin

EveningReflection · 28/05/2020 08:59

Oh and hi everyone. Im 38 and expecting my first on dec 4th.

Ive been struggling the last 6.5 weeks with morning sickness. Not sick that often thanks to spending my time in front of a fan with a cold wet flannel on my face. Just feel like im gonna throw up 24/7 and dizzy and tired (sleeping more than the cat!).

Had my 12 week scan on friday and ive worried myself into organising a NIPT (also impatient to find out the sex).

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 28/05/2020 09:13

@EveningReflection fellow sickness sufferer here! Tbf I haven't thrown up as much as in a couple of my other pregnancies but the constant nausea is worse imo!!

stairgates · 28/05/2020 09:24

Hello EveningReflection :)

Can you post your picture for us so we can have a guess for you :) I love scan guessing!

EveningReflection · 28/05/2020 10:01

Here's my scan pics if you want to guess.

😭😭😭😭 my blood sample failed the NIPT test again!!! Arrrggghhghgggh! They now recommend I wait another week before giving a third sample and then another week to wait. What is actually wrong with me! I know I am overweight but FFS.

Apparently the first sample given had over the 4% fetal DNA but failed the QA threshold. None of the others had enough.😭😭😭😭

She said NHS from her experience due to my age will probably say high risk. They have offered a refund or a redraw and not their fault just me and my bloody stupid blood!

Do you mind If I join too please?

I am 39 and just found out today I'm pregnant with my first child. Early days around 6 weeks but I have so much I want to check and look at. Feel overwhelmed, happy, scared and excited and quite nauseous all at the same time. It's taken around two years to fall pregnant and I can't quite believe it.

Good luck to you all too x

Brightonmaman · 28/05/2020 19:25

Hi everyone 👋🏼 It was so lovely to find this thread! I'm 41 and 19 weeks pregnant.
I cannot believe the tiredness this time around 😳 It really makes me feel like the geriatric mum that I am! Grin

I have one toddler and boy is this pregnancy totally different to the first! The first was lots of lying around watching Netflix and eating chocolate!

Thanks for the pregnancy pillow recommendation, I think I need one now. My husband's heart sank when I told him about it because the one I bought in my first pregnancy was absolutely gigantic 😂

Those going through tests currently, my heart goes out to you. It's such a worrying time. We had a high risk result last time then opted for Harmony which was all fine. We just went straight for a private Harmony this time to avoid the anxiety and wait. All fine again thankfully.

Look forward to sharing the next few months with you all xx Thanks

footprintsintheslow · 28/05/2020 20:31

Hi @pinklillie and @Brightonmaman welcome here. I'm six weeks too pink, I'm feeling sick as a dog and have a two year old to parent too. 🤮😍

MariaDingbat · 28/05/2020 20:36

Hi everyone! Great to hear everyone updates, sorry you're still having trouble with the harmony test @Sheera1, that's so frustrating!

I had my dating scan and booking appointments today and everything was great! Strong heartbeat, right size and wiggling like mad. It's such a relief Smile We're going to start telling people over the weekend, I never thought I'd get to do this so I'm over the moon!!

Sheera1 · 28/05/2020 21:42

@MariaDingbat ooh I love when they are wriggling at the scan. Have fun telling people. My friend did a Beyonce baby reveal but photishopped her face in. It was hilarious. Xx

Morning all

Welcome to the new joiners. There is a list somewhere a few pages back, if you'd like to add yourselves Smile

@MariaDingbat great news for you scan! It's SUCH a relief isn't it!
We told everyone last week but were acutely aware how tough it is for others to see (my depression and grief sunk hugely whenever I saw announcements on social media) so we really struggled to find a way to announce our news sensitively. We nearly didn't. In the end, DP just wrote a post saying we know how hard it is for others but just wanted to let people know that we'd be setting another place at the table this Christmas. Then we put a scan photo in the comments so no one saw it directly on their newsfeed. It's so hard isn't it!

@Sheera1 you're kidding [shock[ Oh how unbelievably frustrating Sad. Did they say why it could be doing this? I'm so sorry for how much this is dragging on. When do you get your Nuchal results? Will you do a re-draw?

I'm 14 weeks now and I'm having a bit of a worry. My bump had shrunk loads this morning - assuming bloat has dispersed rather than anything sinister. Boobs also not as sensitive. My book says that I will start feeling more normal at this stage so maybe that's it. Plus I'm still mega tired and weepy at stupid things - I cried picking out Father's Day and anniversary cards yesterday online, haha.
It just feels weird having to wait so long for the next scan given how many I had in the 1st trimester. Kind of feel a bit like we've been left to it, despite our experience. My RMC consultant is trying to get us a scan for 16 weeks but not promised anything. I'm tempted just to book a private one.

In other news, I am crocheting a huge blanket for the baby. I'm a beginner and only really got the hang of it a week or so ago so I reckon it will take me AGES. But so far so good and I really love what I've done so far - Looks like I'm becoming the badass I always wanted to be Wink

I'm going to grab the list for the new ladies Smile

footprintsintheslow · 29/05/2020 07:48

@Frazzlerock I'm also crocheting a blanket. I'll send photos when I get it out next. I don't tend to crochet when the weather is nice.

Little hats are very easy to crochet too.

Frazzlerock · 29/05/2020 07:51

I'm tagging everyone to make sure it's all correct Smile

Frazzle, thats going to be beautiful when its done:) I have absolutely no sewing type skills at all, the odd tear I can hack together and I a bit of a whizz with the wonder web at the beginning of term timeGrin

Sheera, what is going on with the blood!!!! To then just assume you are high risk is ridiculous, how is that going to help you stay calm until the next one!

Welcome to brightonmama and pinklillie and anyone else who I may have missed on page 7 :)

And @EveningReflection Im guessing pink for you too!!! What do you already have??

stairgates · 29/05/2020 08:31

Footprints, thats lovely too! I dont suppose if you find a spare few hours you would run me up a few little sweatshirts in that designGrin
