Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

Morning all,

I'm having major wobbles. I wish I could feel baby moving so I had some sort of reassurance.
Getting into the TMI territory...
How much liquid, gunk etc is normal to be coming out of your fanjo at 14/15 weeks? I keep worrying I'm losing water and mucus plug. It's freaking me out 😫 I wear a panty liner and I only wear one per day so I'm not pouring out. I know it can be wee but if it was, surely it would feel like wee? Like that tingle feeling when you actually go? Maybe once/twice per day I feel a bit of something liquidy come out but no 'tingle' - does that make sense? Sorry, I know it's utterly gross but I have to ask as I'm a bit worried and hopefully worrying for nothing!
I've been in the 'babyloss world' far too long and I am worrying about every single thing that could go wrong 😢
Bump still much small than it was too which isn't helping my anxiety.

Right, now you know everything about what's coming out of me. I'm off to empty the washing machine 😂

@sheera1 and @onlyreadingneverposting8 what are the blood thinners for? I thought aspirin was just for early preg?

Welcome @LittleMiss7 Wow, another set of twins in the group! What are DCDA twins? I'm crap at acronyms are the best of times,

Sheera1 · 31/05/2020 08:56

Morning!

Ooh lovely twins @LittleMiss7. Yoi are due just before me Frazzle and Onlyreading.

@Frazzlerock We are so similar but it is comforting to here the same sort of worries. My bump is still sort of gone too. I have ot felt the little nudges I was feeling for about a day so of course my mind goes aarrrggghhhh!! Esp as I had a massive argument with DP and worry the stress did something 😯. Sitting on the couch last night I felt sort of a rush of liquid into my pants and I thought "here we go again". I went to check and it was clear. It has happened once or twice. Not enough to bother with a liner. My TMI is that I didn't eat much the other day after DP fight as just not hungry. So all ytday and last night I think I am constipated but it is making my back hurt and feels like an ache and cramp all round my stomach and hip area. So of course panicking about MMC again 🙄. It is not contraction like or comes and goes. Pretty much constant so that is reassuring me a little that I just need to 💩!

I decided to get the Emma's Diary baby app and downloaded it. The first wee tid bit was "just because there are two of you, you don't need to eat for two. Try low fat Greek yogurt and fruit as a health snack". 😂😂😂 Bog off Emma's Diary while I eat my Mangnum lolly!

Oh and the aspirin is from 12 weeks as I ticked over two moderate risk flag fro pre-eclampsia. Mine were over 40, BMI over 35 and over 10 years between pregnancies. We also get klexane injections from 28 weeks we need to inject into our areas at home which is another blood thinner. Think that one is to do with blood clots and weight and age as the consultant repeated age and weight about 10 million times 🙄.

@Frazzlerock morning!! I'm so the same here and was lying in bed wishing I could feel some movement! Quite a lot of discharge here too and varies in colour from whiteish yellow to clear. I haven't told anyone I'm pregnant expect DH (of course) and eldest DD knows as she saw my notes In the car. If all is well on Wednesday I think I'll tell more people. I'm a mixture of - please I can't be that unlucky now after a normal 13 weeks scan and of course I can be that unlucky and must prepare myself.

I have blood thinners as I'm high risk for a DVT.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/05/2020 09:05

Yes aspirin due to age & previous pre eclampsia and also the midwife told me they now recommend if if you have auto immune issues - which appears to be lots of things...even mild eczema!!

Frazzlerock · 31/05/2020 09:09

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one with stuff falling out 😂
I seem to remember it being rather er... moist down there with my boys but I couldn't remember how much. And of course back then I had none of the worries I have now as I was a very naive 20 something with no experience of babyloss - myself or others.
I just want to be able to enjoy this pregnancy dammit!

I've my obstetrician appointment on Tuesday so I'm looking forward to finding out what they've got to say.
Hopefully some reassurance...

Frazzlerock · 31/05/2020 09:11

Re aspirin, my RMC consultant prescribed me the tablets from 7 weeks but that's when I had my first massive bleed and then it was decided I'd better not take it given all the blood I was losing, so I never did take it. I wonder if I'll have to start once I speak to the obs

burntpinky · 31/05/2020 09:13

Hi all

Only just found this thread!

I'm 41 (42 in Sept) and currently 18 weeks with DC2. Had my first DC a week before I turned 40! (had a MMC at 9.5 weeks before DC1).

Only having kids "late" in life because we only met when I was 36.

I had horrendous morning sickness for a good 6 weeks this time around and was on 2 types of tablets! Thankfully that has gone now but SPD has well and truly kicked in!

Saw Consultant on Fri and he mentioned my age. It is a bit annoying - like we don't already know it's not ideal but hey, life isn't perfect.

Had NIPT and all 1 in a million risk which is great and we're having a boy (DC1 is a boy)!

Look forward to swapping stories on this journey!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/05/2020 09:13

@Sheerer1 I inject in the fleshy bits at the top of my thighs. Not sure I'd want to sit on the bruises I end up with!! Lots do it in the stomach but I got told not to as I didn't have enough flesh there. I'm not eating anything healthy really due to the nausea - it's all carbs still! I've gained 5kg already but I was a bit underweight (stress of losing the 3 previous pregnancies) when I got pregnant. Tbh I really can't be arsed watching my weight this pregnancy. It is most definitely my last and life is too chuffing stressful anyway to worry about weight gain too!!

Frazzlerock · 31/05/2020 09:21

@sheera1 are you still feeling movements then since you questioned it the other day? I keep lying down on my back everyday and prodding gently and waiting for ages but NOTHING! I know it's early but I'm so desperate to feel something

I'm going to see if my RMC consultant has managed to get me a scan for 16 weeks. If she hasn't, I'm going to book a private one. I can't stand this anxiety

Sheera1 · 31/05/2020 09:39

@Frazzlerock I felt a couple of wee "nudges" last night but not with the same frequency as before 😯. I am with you on the extra scans. Worth it for peace of mind. My 20 week scan (which annoyingly is 21 weeks) seems yonks away in July.

My redraw for NIPT is on Thursday and getting a scan at the same time which is good. Silver lining amidst the frustration and free. I think once we really start feeling movements which is not too far off we will be more reassured on a day to day basis. So I would go get the scan as the anxiety is horrible and potentially damaging. They are reasonably priced and a much nicer experience than the nhs clinical ness.

@only I have plenty flab on my tummy so maybe will inject them there. I got them after my c section first time as I was bed ridden with a debilitating spinal puncture headache from a messed up epidural (the anethetist was a butcher!). I got them after I discharged myself by the midwife who visited. I don't remember them hurting but I was on a ton of drugs for the c section and headache.

Welcome along @burntpinky, nice to meet you. I'm 40 with two daughters and I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant.
Have you been referred to physio for SPD?

burntpinky · 31/05/2020 12:00

@footprintsintheslow thanks and congrats to you!

Yes, but only a phone consultation at present due to covid situation. I have a girdle from last time so really need to crack on using that!

Sheera1 · 31/05/2020 12:27

Hi @burntpinky sorry didn't mean to ignore your post. I think they sometimes pop up at weird times as didn't see it.

Congrats on your boy. Exciting. You are about 3 weeks ahead of me. I was lucky not to get SPD with ds but I am 10 years older and getting some aches so crossing fingers. I heard it is horrendous. Much sympathy. Xx

Pram question. I am being seduced by the infababy ultimo and the current spring sale. (Half price). Do we think this is probably always some kind of sale and am I crazy to buy now when only 15 weeks and still worried about results etc?

OP posts:
Frazzlerock · 31/05/2020 13:57

@Sheera1 if it's definitely the one you want and you have somewhere to store it then go for it. Doubt you'll get much better than half price. The one I want never goes on sale so I'm going to wait, but I'd grab now it if it were half price!

Sheera1 · 31/05/2020 14:44

Is it the Bugaboo you are getting? X

Yeah The Fox 2. I wish I could go now and take one for a test drive around John Lewis 😂

LittleMiss7 · 31/05/2020 22:58

@Frazzlerock sorry! They're non identical twins. Bit of a shock, especially as I'm from a long line of only children 😂 but we'll have a compete family in 1 go ❤️ I've had the same with discharge too. From what I've read, so long as it's clear/white in colour, it's a good thing xx

Ethellsmum · 31/05/2020 23:33

I’m 33 weeks tomorrow - 49 days to go 😀.
I’ve had 2 on time babies and 2 overdue babies - I’m thinking this one may be early or very very late.
I’m taking the tinzaparin injections daily and my god do they hurt and bruise. I shall not miss those.

Clairyd121 · 01/06/2020 09:50

@footprintsintheslow I have got my head around the CS but the Consultant doesn't think it's a definite yet as she is still monitoring the position of the placenta, will know more on Thursday when I have a further scan. Will also be getting the GD test done on Thursday again to check if I have now developed it due to having glucose in my urine.. I didn't go for the harmony test to check if the baby was at high risk for DS which was something after I regretted I've had a lot of scans and each time they have said everthing looks fine with the baby I know the look for soft markers which they haven't found.. Anyone else in the same boat?

Clairyd121 · 01/06/2020 10:17

Mean Down Syndrome (DS)

Sheera1 · 01/06/2020 12:22

Hi Clairyd121.

Did your NT come back low risk? You can probably be quite happy about it if so as think with our age it is more likely to have a high risk even though we maybe are not.

I think we will all worry throughout and I am the worst over thinker. At this stage whatever your baby is when it comes out you will be besotted and you will adapt.

I have a planned section after an emergency one with ds. I am really happy about it. I didn't ever have any issue with the cs healing etc or even remember being particularly sore after it. It was a bit stressful but that was more because things were very stressful and complicated and I have heard a planned CS is a much calmer affair. Xx
