Hi all. I wasn't wanted to hijack any threads on hear with specific questions, but wondered if anyone fancied a chat thread for us classed as mature mums to be? Anyone who feels they fit in that box are welcome to join.

I will start. 🌞

I am 41. I have a 10 year old ds and one mmc 3 yrs ago. New partner is reason for the gap.

I was very shocked when I found out as we had assumed that ship had sailed as no joy since mmc. Head was in that camp and was quite a shock to come out of it.

I am 13 weeks based on my scan later Friday. Awaiting NIPT results hopefully today or tomorrow. Been cautious after mmc but hard to not get so attached as the weeks go by.

My first purchase if all ok will be a pregnancy pillow.

Honestly I feel massive already. I am very overweight but was with ds and had a perfect fuss free pregnancy. This time I am so 🤢 and tired and feel just ill from 4pm onwards.

Instead of it easing up, last night I was still feeling 🤢 trying to sleep and was very uncomfortable due to feeling like my womb is massive.

Anyone else feeling like this? Goodness knows how I will be weeks from now. Eeek.

@Frazzlerock still cramping ! Think I've convinced myself somethings happened. No bleeding it's just cramps ... x

PregnantPorcupine · 03/07/2020 10:28

Hope you're doing better today @Clarkel1 Flowers

OMG those knitted jumpsuits are too cute.. On the subject of shopping - thank you to whoever recommend Cake nursing bras. I have just bought this and it's very comfortable

@Sheera1 I have cunningly avoided weighing myself through the whole pregnancy so no idea how much I have put on, but can feel that my legs have gotten bigger so it's definitely not just the weight of the baby Sad. I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to start exercising again, but worried I'll just be too tired.. I'd definitely be up for some post pregnancy motivation.

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 10:50

I take that back brown bleeding has just started again. I'm really so down with all of this and thinking the worst even though I've had this pain and bleeding been scanned 3 times and all ok every time it happens I fear the worst again x

Leigh1975 · 03/07/2020 10:55

Hi I have a 3 year old Nearly 4 and I am 45 my oldest is 26 and have a 23 21 and 17 .. pregnancy was not planned and was in the pill . My sister conceived at 49 had twins she is now 51 with two year olds

PregnantPorcupine · 03/07/2020 11:09

Oh no I'm sorry @Clarkel1 xx

fool11 · 03/07/2020 11:15

Hope your bleeding will stop soon @Clarke1..i know what you mean about calling the EPU, they can be so unhelpful, they could scan you, if they wanted (which they won't)so you don't have to wait till Monday..hope all will be fine x

Glad to hear you like the Cake bras @PregnantPorcupine, i have the original ones from 5y ago Amoralia brand which i bought when preg with my first and they are so comfy..

With my first i didn't feel any movements till about w23, she was very small..this one i started to feel at 15w, have anterior placenta and he hasn't stopped since, he kicks like crazy, can't wait to have him out..about 2w to go..

love the bodysuits for boys @Frazzlerock ...so difficult to find something cute for boys, shops are full of cute girls clothes and boring boy clothes..

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 11:22

@Clarke1 my final bleeding was brown bleeding which lasted a week or so. Maybe this is the last of it? I figured the haematoma was draining the last of itself out. Brown blood is old blood so it sounds like it is doing just that.

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 11:43

@Frazzlerock did you have pain xx

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 12:20

@Clarkel1 no, just niggles really, like a very mild period pain with the big bleeds. I don't remember getting any sensation with the brown bleeding, but I didn't have fibroids. Maybe that is what is causing the pain?

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 13:44

@Frazzlerock the epu called and she said that she thinks it's stretching pains... I doubt it as this is too painful. Said to wait till my scan on Monday so here's to a stressful weekend 😞 I'm getting myself in a mess really thinking my belly doesn't look as big today etc. My anxiety is just awful because I'm so tired and can't think straight 🙈

AliasGrape · 03/07/2020 13:51

@Clarkel1 I’m sorry you’re going through this, I can completely understand being so worried even though you’ve been checked out. I had broken bleeding and red spotting on and off and every single time was convinced it was the end. It’s just so stressful, I really never bargained for what a worrying time pregnancy is! I hope it stops soon and that your scan on Monday comes quickly for you xxxx

I’m doing piles of washing of all the clothes I’ve bought (not loads) and all the stuff that’s been passed on, plus all the bedding etc. I’ve realised we have more newborn stuff than we could possibly ever need, particularly as this baby is predicted to be a whopper and might not ever fit in newborn size. We have hardly anything in 0-3 months so I might get just a couple of bits to plug that gap. It’s all vests and sleepsuits I’ve not bothered with special outfits at all, keep reading about special outfits to bring baby home in etc - honestly never occurred to me! Now I feel bad.

I’m a bit stressed re movement again today, hardly felt anything.

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 13:51

Oh @Clarkel1 they can't leave you like this Sad Can you call the midwife? Do you have a number for them yet?

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 13:54

@AliasGrape I bought a 'special outfit' for DS1 to come home in, or dress hi in once he was born. It was really just a babygrow but it was a really lovely one from Gap and I couldn't wait to put him in it. But I bought a newborn size (like 7lb or something - I was clueless!) and he was 9lb 12 at birth so DP had to go home and find something else to put him in!

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 14:00

@AliasGrape meant to add, sorry you're feeling worried abut movement. I can't remember how far along you are but I know they slow down towards the end. Can you call the midwife for some reassurance? They will deffo want to hear from you if you're worried about lack of movement.

I've had an emotional day today too. DS1 clearly not keeping up with his school work while being at home. I had his maths teacher on the phone to me earlier asking me why he hadn't submitted a load of work, then I got an email from his economics teacher saying the same. Fuck knows what he is dong all day as I see he is working as the computer he is using is in front of me and its a huge screen so its not like he's done nothing. Just makes me feel like a shit parent, then I plummet into wondering what kind of parent I will be for this little one. Bloody hormones are getting the better of me.
I've confiscated his phone until he's caught up with his work. He should have it on him anyway while working as he doesn't at school, but I know he likes to do work with his best friend which he would be doing at school, so its hard to know what to do!
I'm not very good wit teenagers, Give me a newborn or toddler and I'm fine!

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 14:39

@Frazzlerock it was midwife I spoke to she basically just palms me off with anything really, she was nice enough but said it could be stretching and if it's brown blood not to worry just the usual. Maybe it is stretching but at just nearly 13 weeks I wouldn't think I'm stretching that much and for it to be consistent pain like this, said it could be the fibroid but again I think they just don't know. So will say anything that means you don't need to go there I will just have to try and stay calm till Monday. Just so sad as well that my husband can't come with me x

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 15:22

On the plus side I don't know if I'm being crazy since I'm only 13 weeks on Sunday but I am pretty sure I'm feeling little movements today in fact I could probably say I'm sure so that is keeping me a bit positive or am I crazy 🤨 I didn't feel movement with my son till 19 weeks and about 16 with my little girl so don't know if I'm right. Anyone else? X

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 03/07/2020 15:50

@Clarkel1 a quick Google's says that fibroids can cause pain in pregnancy - particularly in the second trimester. Perhaps the combination of everything and the STRESS is making it all worse. I know, for me I've never been particularly aware of cramping in early pregnancy but with this one I was 100% aware of every single twinge and I definitely felt some cramping at times.

@AliasGrape get a drink - hot or cold and go have a relax on your bed for at least 30 minutes. Bet you baby will start having a move around then! I know that for me when I've been expecting and I've been running a round all day it's suddenly got to bedtime ish and I've thought "shit, I've neither been counting kicks or really felt any" only for me to get into bed and relax and baby to start some sort of rave in there!!!

@Frazzlerock that's a brilliant story! 9lb 12oz - are you tall yourself - or just feed them really well in there?!! My biggest was 7lb 12oz and he required forceps due a MASSIVE head!! (I'm only 5' 1" and small build) I usually take 2 sizes in with me: something for an under 7lber and something for an over 7lber.

Sorry folks! Dunno why that posted twice??

Frazzlerock · 03/07/2020 15:52

@Clarkel1 I've been getting stretching pains since the early weeks. I still get them now and again, at least once a day. But they're not as painful as you described - just a bit of discomfort. I think it is awful they're palming you off like this. If you're in pain, they should be finding out why as a matter of urgency, I would think, and helping you to manage it!
Would it be worth ringing 111?

Re movements, I have read that some people think they can feel something, but then I also see people saying it's impossible to feel that early but who knows? Could be!

Sheera1 · 03/07/2020 15:53

Clarke1 I felt movements from 13 weeks so you could be right. Sounds positive that it is old blood but I would be seriously freaked too. I hope the weekend goes really quickly for you and hope the pain stops. Is there someone you can speak to about the fibroids. Midwife does seem to be making assumptions. I mentioned pains to the consultant and she was completely disinterested. They did go away.

I am very crampy today down loa and in my lower back. Nothing major but it is uncomfortable and you have my sympathy. Xx

@onlyreadingneverposting8 haha, no I'm 5ft4 so not going to win any 'tallest woman' contests Grin. I am also fairly small build but I seem to make big babies. DS2 was 8lb 5 and he was 3 days early. Bear in mind DS1 was two weeks late but he still would have been big. Mind you, I do like tall and largely built men. The DS's dad is about 6ft1 and my DP is 6ft3!

Clarkel1 · 03/07/2020 16:52

Thanks ladies ... I will let you all know Monday how it goes thankfully it's at 9 so don't have to wait all day thank you for all your kind words xx

footprintsintheslow · 03/07/2020 17:22

@AliasGrape a special coming home outfit to me is a posh baby grow.

@Clarkel1 let's hope this weekend speeds by for you. Do you have any plans?

stairgates · 03/07/2020 17:52
