*some great communities not wine (although there's wine too!)

GlassboatSailor · 23/05/2020 21:00

Sorry for your loss. Remember whatever you feel is what you feel. Having expectations about what you think you "should" be experiencing emotionally can make it harder.

I know what you mean about underestimating the effects of pregnancy though! I keep reading about new and exciting ways your body decides to fail you throughout pregnancy😆 It's been tough with the tiredness and nausea but at least those are supposed to ease up into the second trimester.

GlassboatSailor · 23/05/2020 21:03

Previous message was aimed at @OliviaMarie. Sorry still learning Mumsnet!

cgirl16 · 23/05/2020 21:14

Nic2908 · 23/05/2020 22:15

@notalwaysalondoner @ew1990 my heart is broken for you. I read this whilst I was at work and I literally have not been able to stop thinking about you both. I am so sorry.

How is everyone today?

I'm so over this first trimester! I hate to wish time away but I'd like to just get to the 12 week scan (hopefully everything is ok), pass the first "hurdle" and be able to tell some close friends and family about the pregnancy.

PocoyoandEllie · 24/05/2020 10:22

So sorry to hear about your losses ❤️

Katbaby · 24/05/2020 10:39

Morning 😊 so I've had my booking in over the phone this morning, rather uneventful really just as I expected a form filling exercise. Because I had my bloods done a couple of weeks ago she said she will just post my notes for me while she's doing her rounds this afternoon so I have them and I just have to wait for my 12 week scan to come through.

She asked how I felt about the downs screening and to be honest I hadn't thought about it... I feel unsure like I don't know whether I'd want to know or not. She did say I could have a think about it first.

Also so sorry to hear of the losses @notalwaysalondoner @ew1990 😢 hope you are taking some time to heal xx

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I'll be ok eventually.

I'm going to hide this thread for a bit now but I'll check in on you all in a couple of months.

Natt99 · 24/05/2020 11:41

Morning everyone, was really worried this morning as had brown discharge. Luckily was able to get in for a private scan at window to womb a few hours later. Pleased to report baby was fine, he/she even did a little wave and even wiggled their legs! Measuring as expected at 9+5. Feel so much more relieved now and just wanted to let everyone know that brown discharge isn't always bad news. We went for a bike ride yesterday so they think that could've caused it...
Glad you had your booking in @Katbaby sooo many questions isn't there!!! At least they're thorough I suppose.
Thinking of the ladies with the losses, hope you get your rainbow babies really soon xx

I’m expecting a barrage of questions at my booking in!

Practical question. Has anyone bought maternity jeans/leggings yet? I ordered a pair from Dorothy Perkins and they are far too short! I’m 5’9 so not freakishly tall but just wondered if anyone the same height has gotten any good ones and also who’s bought leggings that aren’t see through!

Marshmallow1102 · 24/05/2020 12:27

Hi @Bumble84 I've got cheapy £8 ASOS maternity leggings, I'm only 5'7 with a 32" inside leg, but the leggings are long on me and bunch up around my ankles, so they might be worth giving a go! Super comfy and not see through, I've already worn them outside a few times!

YahBasic · 24/05/2020 12:36

YY to the £8 ASOS ones! I’m also 5’9 and they are spot on.

djmbaker · 24/05/2020 12:52

Hi girls,

I had my reassurance scan today and i was so pleased to see my 9 week old jelly bean wriggling around, with a strong heartbeat!!! It's not quite a Christmas, they think 27th December right now.. but that's close enough isn't it?

What a relief. My partner and I sobbed when she turned on the screen. Also, for those Chester ladies.. I can not recommend window to the womb in Ellesmere Port highly, amazing service!!

I suddenly don't mind how sick I've been feeling ❤️ xx

Ahh lovely scan! And I bet it made it all seem worthwhile, I have a private scan at window to the womb near me on Tuesday and I can't wait, it's so hard for it to feel real at the moment!

djmbaker · 24/05/2020 14:54

@calipoppy god yes it did. I had a scan at 6 weeks, which was definitely too early but it was mainly to check my ovaries etc so this just felt incredible today. To see it wriggling around and see it's heartbeat was surreal. I know there's a long way to go but after a miscarriage I'll take this as a very big positive 🙏🏻❤️
Well they were amazing today so I hope you have a good experience with them. We got to pay an extra £10 and you get a video of the scan as well which is lovely. 😍😍

Natt99 · 24/05/2020 16:01

@djmbaker aww glad yours went well too. It's amazing how much they grow isn't it?! Mine grew 20mm in less than a month. So cool that they look like real babies now.

Think I will get a gender scan at 16 weeks privately, then at least DH can come in with me.

Nic2908 · 24/05/2020 16:39

Glad your scans went well ladies. They are beautiful to see. So happy for the both of you. @Natt99 sorry that you had had a stressful morning leading up to it!

I had my booking in appt over the phone this morning. She seemed nice but not my named midwife. She gave me the date for my scan at the same time, Monday June 15th so three weeks away, it's going to feel like a lifetime. But I guess that's three weeks for them to change their mind about no partners isnt it!!

Decided to have the harmony test done also so going to book in for that next week and I believe that you have to have a scan before having it done so as least that's an added bonus hopefully. I have to admit after the sad news on here yesterday, my anxiety is through the roof!

Natt99 · 24/05/2020 16:54

@Nic2908 thanks hun. I know what you mean, I never thought pregnancy would be this stressful, I guess because it's all unknown. Hopefully with any subsequent ones it'll be more relaxing!

That's good, you've had your booking. So many questions isn't there! Also some odd things like because DH's mum was born in Kenya, baby has to have TB and meningitis jabs at birth, very odd as he was born here.
Did she tell you who your actual midwife is?
Mine was the same, the midwife who booked me is going on maternity next week so it's not her. Guess it's just a bit of an admin appointment at this time.

The harmony test sounds interesting, are the tests different to the NHS ones and how much does it cost if you don't mind me asking?
Sorry for all the questions and rambles!

Bigcheesey · 24/05/2020 17:19

@djmbaker we’re you at Window to the Womb Ellesmere Port just after 12 today?

And you are right it was such a lovely team there! So pleased we decided to book one, so nice to try and stop me being a worry wort. My little baby is growing nicely and although still nothing particularly exciting to see it was great to see a little heartbeat 😁😁😁

Snapper81 · 24/05/2020 17:33

@Nic2908 my anxiety is through the roof too. I've booked myself in for another scan tomorrow lunchtime. I just can't shake the feeling that I've had another MMC.

I've been so poorly with all day morni g sickness and severe constipation but I was still having symptoms after I lost the last pregnancy so even these symptoms aren't helping to relax me.
Hoping my mind will be put at rest tomorrow.

djmbaker · 24/05/2020 17:42

@Bigcheesey yes I was! I was there around 12? My appointment was 1215 but they rang me and said I can go slightly earlier which was good as we were both soooo nervous.
They are lovely. I will definitely be booking in more scans with them. I'm going to have the gender scan at 16 weeks I think.

djmbaker · 24/05/2020 18:02

@Natt99 I'm super pleased to see mine has grown! My 6 week scan it was only 2.8mm which made me panic... but to see it at 22.4mm today was so amazing!!!

I'm thinking of a gender scan too. I'm far too impatient to wait 😂😂

Bigcheesey · 24/05/2020 18:07

@djmbaker ahh small world my appointment was 12 so it must have have been you in the waiting room when we came out 😁
