adds strawberries to shopping list

Katbaby · 26/05/2020 15:39

@ReocBr I would recommend early scan it really settled my worries!

Normally can only stomach beige carbs so really enjoyed a big bowl of juicy strawberries and a few cheeky chocolate buttons! Hah

@ReocBr I’m in Edinburgh 😊

I had a private early scan at Ultrasound-Direct by St Andrews Square. As far as I can tell it’s the only place in Edinburgh that does them and has reopened post-lockdown. It was decent but pricier than some others (£70) - kind of weird environment bc it’s a shared office building but actual scan room was fine and sonographer was lovely.

I don’t think many here will have had the NIPT yet just bc it’s still early

makingababy · 26/05/2020 15:43

@ReocBr
Oh and no partner is allowed in the scan room with you (but I would still recommend it!)

ReocBr · 26/05/2020 16:01

@makingababy oh cool its so nice to know you're in Edinburgh too! I'll maybe drop you a private message Smile

Thanks so much for the advice, I hadn't even thought about which places may or may not be open...! I'll maybe try the Ultrasound Direct one.

YahBasic · 26/05/2020 17:18

I’ve not had an early scan, mainly as there is nowhere within an hours drive that is open at the moment!

My 12 week scan is next week, so fingers crossed all is ok. After that, we will have a think about the NIPT screening, it is a lot of money so in two minds.

Nic2908 · 26/05/2020 18:55

So lovely to catch up with you all. Feeling the sickness today. Also had the bloods done for the harmony test today, just anxious now about the results. Luckily should only take a week to come back. We also get to find out the sex too which is incredible to think we will know the sex before the 12 week scan. Not sure if I am ready to know yet though so might ask them to leave the bit out of the letter. @YahBasic fingers crossed for next week for you.
@Katbaby strawberries sound lovely. So adding them to my shopping list for this week.

dixiedo · 26/05/2020 21:27

Hi guys. I've been really quiet but I'm still reading.
I lost my sickness and I convinced myself I had a MMC. Sickness has returned again today, not as bad either but definitely back.
Then my scan at window in Ellesmere Port was booked for 11.45 so it's just crazy that three of us off this thread were booked in one after the other !!!!! Can't believe that!
However. I had it saved in my phone for 1.45. I was gutted but they were great about it.
I went today to Liverpool and can't believe how lovely they were ! I'm booked in again for two weeks in Ellesmere Port. The customer service is fantastic and I couldn't recommend them more.

Baby is 8 + 4 and is still due 1st jan.
Hope you're all well.

@dixiedo I’m also making myself more and more anxious by the day because my nausea has all but gone. Good to know that I am not alone in this and so glad all looks well on your scan!

I’ve still got three weeks to wait for my scan so I’m considering an early scan for reassurance but i think DH would rather wait. I’m speaking to midwife tomorrow so will mention my concerns and see what she says. I’ll be at least 13 weeks by the time my scan is done which feels like a long time to sit and worry!

Rnic1x · 27/05/2020 08:30

@dixiedo aww I was thinking you were quiet yesterday, I'm glad everything is ok ♥️

@Bumble84 my dp is the same, they don't understand the worry we have do they... I wanted another scan and he said what do you want to waste money on one when there is nothing wrong for 😂 I see his point but he needs to see mine 😂 it would be a 4 hour all round trip for us to get one early though 😂x

djmbaker · 27/05/2020 09:47

@dixiedo oh my god that's so funny!! How weird we were all booked in so close.. so that's probably why they saw me earlier then because you weren't there. Otherwise we all would have been in there at the same time 😂 how funny.
I'm thinking of booking another.. I'm just going to wait and see when my 12 week scan comes through and see if I need another before that. Now I've seen it, I want to see it again 🙈🙈

Thankfully my partner is on board , I think he would have in there every week 😂😂 that's only down to us having the MMC last year though, he wasnt the same last year, he just kept saying "you don't need any early scans your fine" 🤦🏻‍♀️

djmbaker · 27/05/2020 10:04

@Nic2908 what's the harmony test? I'm getting confused with all the tests you can do.

Nic2908 · 27/05/2020 11:31

@djmbaker Harmony test is a test that looks at down syndrome, Edward's and Patau syndrome. Very similar to the combined testing that nhs does but research suggests its more accurate than the nhs one but it's only offered privately of course! We each have our babies DNA mixed in with our own blood due to it crossing the placenta. That's how they can look at and look at the sex chromosome also. It's crazy. It's not right for everyone but we decided that it was something that was right for us.

dixiedo · 27/05/2020 11:39

@djmbaker yes when I read it I was like NO WAY. How funny if we had managed to meet each other.
They were so kind about me missing it. I couldn't believe what I did I was just gutted.
I'm in again on the 11th so I'll be 10+6 and then my 12 week scan is on the 22nd so I'm hoping it will break it up and keep me calm. 2 weeks and then 2 weeks and then I can shop.
I had a MMC too years ago before DS1. I was very young so it was a shock. I had a scan early and then the 12 week one it had stopped.
I think that has just ruined pregnancy for me it's been very hard this time round as this baby is so wanted by DP I almost feel a bit of pressure to try and keep it so it's scary especially when I lost my morning sickness.
I've been very lucky my DP has been Great with my anxiety to be honest and is pretty much letting me go for it although I've spent a bit now ended up with a scan every other week 😬

Kirsty9130 · 27/05/2020 15:31

Hiya ladies, I’ve only posted once before but have been reading and it’s been so lovely knowing I’ve not been by myself with the symptoms and worries! I’ve had my first scan today and I’m a little further on than I thought, 12+3 so due on the 6th December, baby is a little wriggler and I feel so so relieved, I feel like a can finally relax a little and start to enjoy it. Hope you ladies are all doing well symptoms are starting to settle x

LoveSunshine01 · 27/05/2020 15:53

@kirsty9130 Congrats! Lovely scan! Grin

Nic2908 · 27/05/2020 15:57

And just like that our first 12 week scan. Time is moving so fast. Congratulations @kirsty9130 beautiful scan picture. Glad everything went so well.

Katbaby · 27/05/2020 15:59

Afternoon girls hope you are all okay! After my sickness peaking horrendously between 8-9 weeks I hit 9 weeks yesterday and for the last 2 days I have been able to stomach more food, only dry retching once a day now, so maybe going down the other side of the peak?
(stupidly making me slightly worry!?!)

@Kirsty9130 what a lovely scan! Bet youre so glad youre past the first trimester! I can't wait to get past it.

@dixiedo glad you got to have your scan and get your mind put at rest.

Anyone feeling the opposite about the downs screening? I'm not sure Im even gonna take up the offer of the NHS one, like I'm not sure I want to know..

OP posts:
calipoppy · 27/05/2020 16:14

@Katbaby that's great! Yes we've decided not to have the screening, it's definitely a very personal choice but for us we felt that it wasn't right for us after looking into it more. I felt so much relief once we'd made the decision so definitely right move for us :)

Rnic1x · 27/05/2020 16:33

So I know they tell you not too, but I bought a doppler so my partner could hear baby heartbeat further on as he's not coming to normal scans... I've just used it 10+3 and my baby has a lovely strong heartbeat 163-167 BPM 💓 absolutely amazing to hear and it's made me feel so much better ♥️

LoveSunshine01 · 27/05/2020 16:51

Anyone else realising how much you and your friends normally drink and talk about drinking? Had to fake it in a lot of zoom calls with friends and dodge accusations of drinking or hangovers from work colleagues (worrying!!). Very difficult to dodge these things without feeling like you're lying all the time!

My friend is moving back to the area soon and keeps talking about cocktails and wine in the garden. She's gonna be so disappointed when I tell her I'm preggo 😂

Not missing it much though which is super surprising.

LoveSunshine01 · 27/05/2020 16:54

@Katbaby we're just going for the nhs one, we're not sure what we'd do if it shows a high chance of a problem but I would want some warning before the birth personally. Totally understand your approach though.

@Rnic1x that sounds lovely, why do they normally warn against them?

Rnic1x · 27/05/2020 16:59

@lovesunshine01 I think it's because you might panic if you can't find one, I didn't have much expectation to find one though x

LoveSunshine01 · 27/05/2020 17:04

@Rnic1x guess that makes sense, I think I would worry if I'd been doing it every day then one day couldn't find it. Crazy that it's possible to hear a heartbeat already!

Sammy161 · 27/05/2020 18:39

@LoveSunshine01 this is me literally every Monday, call with friends or work colleagues they are asking me about what i had to drink at the weekend and was I hungover like some kind of alcoholic lol

I'm lying though my teeth every time, thankfully 12 week scan next Friday and I can finally tell them our news Grin
