All seemed well, it was an internal scan which was a bit nerve wracking. The consultant is a woman of few words but she said it was all fine and I've pushed to get a scan in epu and they've already rung so I'm booked in for next week!

Updating my weeks a day early because I'm impatient, and also because I haven't put myself on this new thread yet.

Very sad to see about TJ :( take care of yourself and I'm so sorry :(

@footprintsintheslow yay congratulations on your early scan going well, hope you get to bask in that reassurance for a little while! I'm 2 weeks away from my 12 week scan (when I'll actually be 13 weeks) and I'm dreading it. My symptoms have tailed right off but I'm telling myself that's the placenta...

Re: my dates - do you think sometimes the embryo implants quicker than others and that can make your dates not seem to add up to you? I am 1/2 days ahead of what I think is possible and I wondered if perhaps the embryo implanted quite quickly compared to some that might account for it? When you look up how long it takes to implant the estimates seem to go from between 1-2 weeks which is quite a difference. Just a thought!

@MOGMOGMOG85 according to my dates it was when my husband was away for the weekend 🙈 so I definitely think they can be a bit off!!!!

Avocuddles · 19/05/2020 18:13

@MOGMOGMOG85 my 'official' due is also a day earlier than I know is possible, it's all based on how the baby measured at the point of the scan so there's plenty of margin for error. Your date might change again at the 12 week scan but it then remains fixed for the remainder of the pregnancy.

@Anon20something I'm also hoping for ikea to reopen though do think they do online delivery on some items?

@footprintsintheslow I don't have the Mumsnet pregnancy app this time round, I have babycentre and bounty but don't use either particularly often.

@Rachael321 glad your GD test went well and that you're feeling better today.

Has anyone else been suffering with heartburn? Last night I woke up around 1am with an awful, sharp pain in my breastbone - above my bump but below my boobs. I was ready for DH to call 111 as after sitting up for five mins it wasn't going away but two antacid tablets and a big burp later it subsided in an instant so I figure that it must have been heartburn! It was really disconcerting as very painful but thankfully seemed to disappear completely after the burps. Really hoping this doesn't become a regular thing as definitely not helpful for my already high levels of health anxiety....

@Avocuddles heartburn has been crippling for me. Had a few nights where it was bad but managed ot myself with peptac from the doctor, moving about a bit it eased off. Then I was bent double in pain and struggling to breathe after an hour called 111 who wanted me to go to out of hours but It had eased off before I was ready to go.
The worst was yet to come though, treated it as normal and it was easing and then bang, felt like I was being crushed, couldnt stay still was in so much pain, hyperventilating, OH called 999 who sent quick response paramedic! Who informed me it was severe gastric reflux and trapped wind!!! Had me 'swallowing air' and guzzling fizzy juice and forcing myself to burp. Called gp the next morning who prescribed omeprazole once every day!

I feel your pain!!
Over the counter stuff just doesn't touch it

Report
Avocuddles · 19/05/2020 18:52

@Rachael321 awful as this sounds you've made me feel a lot better as your experience does sound very similar to how I felt last night. If it happens again I'll definitely ask about the prescription stuff. It probably makes me feel more anxious than most due to my blood clot history and the fact that my DH had a heart attack at just 33, i guess my mind always flits to a worst case scenario so it's good to know that it might just be a normal, albeit unpleasant, part of pregnancy.....

@Rachael321 @Avocuddles Ive had a nightmare with heartburn and reflux, I need to go and pick up my omeprezol prescription in the morning. I've had issues with reflux for years, but nothing like it is at the moment. Blooming hormones relaxing everything 🤦.

@London91 hello and welcome. Congratulations on your pregnancy, hopefully it's not causing too much anxiety for you

@Avocuddles theres no bonus points for bravery is what the paramedic and my gp said. Trapped wind/indigestion/heartburn can be really painful any time but when theres a wee baby in there it squashes everything up making it worse.
It's very normal unfortunately!! Old wives tale is that baby will have lots of hair apparently...
Obviously more complicated if you have other conditions etc.

But my pain was exactly like yours right at top of belly below boobs!!

Hope you find some relief! I found certain foods were making it worse at times too so maybe worth paying attention to that

@knotemma its bloody awful. I had never felt pain like it, 2 am and I was hanging out the window to try and get air, felt I couldnt breathe!

@rachael321 it really is. I tend to drink gaviscon straight from the bottle as well as the omeprezol, but I have to then be careful that doesn't juts slow everything else down with my stomach and cause more problems 🙈 pregnancy is so lovely and glamorous! I have reached a point however where I now just eat what I want. If I end up throwing up or with heartburn so be it 😂 I had a fab burger from a local company that have just reopened yesterday and it was heavenly

I had the worst heartburn ever last time and it’s starting again already!! I find milk and a rennie straight after eating to preempt it helps! Still awake all night with it tho! I deffo believe in the old wives tale, this was my Lily’s hair at birth, was so so long! Maybe we’ll all have hairy babies haha! Xx

I'm only 15 weeks so behind everyone else with the heartburn. I'm still in the headache and occasional mild nausea stage (usually as a result of said headaches). I've also been saying that whoever said pregnancy was glamorous has been lying! 😂 If it's not gas, I'm retching or thrown on the couch with a headache.

I don't know why I just pictured baby monkeys when you said we'll all have hairy babies!!! And I laughed far too much! Been in hysterics over the silliest of things the last week or so

@rachael321 you joke but... My dad has always called me his monkey because I was covered in fine dark hair when I was born, that (luckily) all fell out during my first bath!
There has been a bit of research done on the hairy babies/heartburn thing and an there is a small study that supports it, they this it's hormone related (what isn't in pregnancy 😂)

I must share something with you. I'm not a woo person and before my first loss, I wasn't particularly tuned in to my spiritual side, I still think I could delve deeper into it now. Anyway.

I had a vivid dream last night, very rare for me. I dreamt that I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, with two faces - one in the front and one in the back of her head. I didn't care about this at all, she was beautiful and healthy. Oddly, the doctor delivering the baby girl was our female vet who in my dream was a consultant. I highly respect and trust her in real life and she's one of the nicest people ever (like a female Dr Noel if you ever watched his show). The only person present in the room was my late Nan, my favourite person in the whole world. I owe her everything.

Now. In real life, I am convinced my first loss was a little baby girl. I found out she died on 1 June last year. 31 May is the anniversary of my Nan's death. I then read the top-rated interpretation of that dream and I froze:

www.quora.com/What-does-it-mean-when-you-dream-about-a-child-with-two-faces-one-on-the-front-and-one-on-the-back

I know this might all be nonsense, but I never had such a meaningful dream and one where I'd remember every detail so clearly. It's given me a lot of comfort, I'm quite teary, but happy, and I believe that one day I'll have my happy ending. It might be now, it might be later, but I read this as a sign not that it will happen. Xxx

@MrsMGE oh my god I got all teary there! I'm highly spiritual and definitely believe in things like this. It is clearly a sign, and how accurate! What a nice feeling to know the baby you lost (in this life) is with you and your Nan too ❤️ I'm glad it made you feel good and at peace, just what you need at the moment.

@Anon20something that hair is just beautiful! I'm really hoping our little boy will have a full head of hair but I don't have any heartburn at all so not having too much hope 🤣

@SunStruck I know! I'm also randomly a mythology geek. Janus could not be more appropriate, the symbolism of it all, the war/peace, beginnings/endings and the transition period. And actually after my first loss, one of the most comforting thoughts for me was that my Nan would be looking after her, but I've not thought about it for a long time, I'm surprised it came up now. I don't think I'll ever forget that dream, it was incredible. Xxx

Hi ladies. @MrsMGE I never believed in dreams or signs but since losing Isla I am seeing them more and it gives me a little comfort. Glad your dream did too.

I have a question, has anyone been referred to an antenatal mental health team during pregnancy? My midwife referred me to our hospitals team for extra support during this pregnancy and I have my first appointment this friday with the consultant. I'm a bit nervous and wondering what to expect. Anyone familiar?

Report
Anon20something · 20/05/2020 10:11

@Shefliesonherownwings sorry I can’t speak from experience - I’ve seen my community midwife once and wasn’t able to get reffered because I’m not an urgent case apparently 😔- but just wanted to say that I’ll be thinking of you. I’m sure they’ll be lovely and help as much as they can, but remember that you’re the one in control and you can talk, or not talk, about whatever you feel you need to. Hope it goes well and try not to worry! Xx
