Hey all, just got my bfp which puts me on course for a Christmas baby! According to my calendar it will be around 27th Dec but we'll get a better idea once we get the 12 week scan. I've already got a handsome 2 year old boy. ♥️Anyone else due à Christmas baby or fancy some pregnancy chat?

@Natt99 did this work??

ArjaD · 20/04/2020 10:20

@Katbaby the tests look great!!!!!! I'll be phoning the doc today too, see what's happening. It's so amazing ❤️
@Victoria2220 that's exactly what I worried about with my first, but i was honest with hubby and talked about it, apologised beforehand for hormonal outbursts (they'll happen a lottttttt) and he was totally prepared and we've still never once had an argument 😊
@december2020 I've jyst told hubby and my best friend. I'm also a bit worried the family might not be happy with us doing this right now. And even if they are not, I don't want them to worry about is during lockdown. We'll tell them when we see them next when all this is over.

I had my booking appointment on Friday over the phone. I think I might be further along than I initially thought, based on LMP my verrrry positive test would have actually only been 2w6d so midwife thinks LMP was actually an implantation bleed! Waiting for a dating scan appointment to come through now. It's such a shame DH can't come, although we're lucky in a sense that this is our 2nd so he got to come to all the scans first time. I really feel for first time parents who are missing out on the big milestones like scans!

Symptom wise I've been soooo tired and so hungry! Luckily DD is a good sleeper and we've both been having a 2.5 hour nap together every afternoon!

Jadey31 · 20/04/2020 10:23

@Katbaby oh my gosh I wouldn't be able to wait that long! I've rang the GP this morning who has referred me to the midwife. She's going to call me on Thursday and we shall go from there really. I told the receptionist on the phone that I didn't know how far along I am due to irregular cycles and she's put me down as 6 weeks. So will go from there!

DH and I have booked a private scan this morning for 8th May which is BH (woo!) I'll be 8+5 🙈

DontStandSoClose · 20/04/2020 10:26

We were going to start trying a month later due to the Christmas due date, my first child was an early January baby and it was a bit of a nightmare that Christmas. I said when we had her I'm not having another Christmas baby!! I was convinced it'd take a few goes this time anyway as we are a bit older, but we were lucky.

I was feeling a bit bad yesterday thinking about the rubbish Christmas birthday and wondering if we should have held off, but there's not much I can do!! Also the corona thing is playing on my mind, I think we face people judging us for chosing to have a baby in the middle of a pandemic!!

Katbaby · 20/04/2020 10:35

Should I have pushed for an earlier appointment? I suppose it doesn't really matter as long as I get my scan around 12 weeks. I'm feeling a hungry but full sensation. Like bloated as if I've had a huge meal but stomach is growling!

DontStandSoClose · 20/04/2020 10:51

@Katbaby is your appointment going to be face to face? It might be slightly later as they are doing it face to face. It's usually 8-10 weeks but from what I've read they are now over the phone because of corona. The first appointment is more about your health and medical history so they can decide if you need to be consultant led rather than midwife led.

Natt99 · 20/04/2020 10:53

Yay it did thanks for adding me @Nic2908 looking forward to reading through this thread and meeting everyone 😊

Hi everyone, first baby here EDD 22 December eek! Rang the doctors this morning, sounds similar to yours Nic in that I had to refer myself to the hospital. They've booked me in for the initial consultation with the midwife on 19th May which isn't too bad. June does sound like a long wait @Katbaby, maybe they've got a long waiting list?! Private 6 week scan booked for 2nd May x

Nic2908 · 20/04/2020 11:01

My first appointment with midwife is a 9 weeks which is may 24th which is over the phone. I've not booked early scan yet as hoping by the time I'm planning on it some of the restrictions might have lifted and one closer to home might be open by then.

Katbaby · 20/04/2020 11:09

Oh well mine is face to face so maybe that's why, gonna do a digi test in the next couple of days to double triple confirm it and then book an early scan I think

djmbaker · 20/04/2020 11:11

Hello!!
Can I join? I wasn't going to join yet but when I saw this thread.. I thought why not, we are all in it together.
I got my positive on Friday.. I have no idea when I ovulated but my last period was 10th March so my midwife said it's a Christmas baby! My cycles are nuts though so it's hard to track.
We had a MMC last August so I'm a little apprehensive but trying to stay calm.
Got diagnosed with a UTI this morning which is annoying but they said it's perfectly normal.
Can't believe how many there are of us who are due in December!!
Mine and my OH birthdays are December so I think it's quite sweet.

Hoping this one sticks though this time 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I've got an early scan booked for two weeks time.
xx

princessgingy · 20/04/2020 11:19

Hi OP the NHS website puts my due date as 27th December too. This is my first pregnancy and I’m still not able to believe it’s real. I only came off my pill in January and I have a few complicated health issues so I really didn’t expect it to happen as quickly as it did.

ArjaD · 20/04/2020 11:52

The networks here seem so overloaded I can't manage to get through to anyone by phone this is so stressful. I'll have to try their email address.

Victoria2220 · 20/04/2020 13:20

@princessgingy congrats. How do you feel about it? Its my first too, due Christmas Day and I am so so scared about everything.

xanderllama · 20/04/2020 13:29

I’m due 20th December, and as exciting as it is I’m scared beyond words. DS was born last November, and I’ve always wanted more but maybe in a few years. However now I’m due to have another, I have a lot of concerns. I think I may have to quit my job as it seems wrong to take a second maternity leave as soon as the first one ends. Is my career wrecked Confused? Then there’s the whole idea of having to parent two young kids. One is a bloody handful. DH is insistent we will work something out in the long term, but one thing for sure is that I think my lovely Christmas baby will be my last!

DontStandSoClose · 20/04/2020 13:47

@xanderllama don't worry about 2 maternity leaves so close together, work can't fire you or discipline you for taking 2 mat leaves close together, I wouldn't quit your job. When I was emailing to arrange going back after my first child I slipped in the last sentence "oh and just to let you know I'm expecting my second child in ...", just sad I didn't see their face. Mine are 18 months apart so I was back for just over 5 months before I went off again.

I guess it does harm your career in the short term but the thing is women have babies and also make up a huge proportion of the workforce. I've come to accept that the last few years have put my career on hold but once I'm done having children (after this one) I'm keen to keep on climbing the ladder. It has been hard watching friends in the same field land promotions etc though, but every single one is only just getting married.

Hannah9176 · 20/04/2020 14:03

@xanderllama I'm in a very similar position to you with DD born in October! My maternity leave is due to finish mid October and I'll be leaving end of November! I'm going to go back end of June though I think so I've worked from weeks 17-25 and actually get some maternity pay. As mentioned above we can't be disciplined for having babies close together! This will likely be our last too then I can commit back to work. I work in a very niche sector of the NHS so if I was to quit work I'd really struggle to find something similar when back in work. I do work horrendous shifts though so unsure how practical that will be with 2 young babies. Only time will tell!

Just received my maternity notes through the post this morning which is very exciting. Hopefully get my dating scan appointment in the next day or 2!

ArjaD · 20/04/2020 15:21

@djmbaker the more the merrier 🙈😁 how are you feeling?

OP posts:
december2020 · 20/04/2020 15:24

@ArjaD oh gosh! I haven't even thought of that! I'm hoping the sets of parents will be happy even though it's during tricker times! Glad you've managed to tell you best friend though, great support network!

@Tbug awww! How did today go? I'm getting itchy feet wanting to tell more of the nearest and dearest but we've agreed to wait till an early scan just to make sure it's viable first. Dying waiting till then!

@DontStandSoClose oh gosh!! Thankfully you've still got the husband and a couple of close friends (silver lining). I'm a bit apprehensive of how the sibling in law will take it as we've got some super weird unspoken awkwardness (no idea why, she doesn't seem to like me much even though we don't really speak or interfere with each other's lives 🤷‍♀️).

It's definitely hard being so quiet about it all!! Aaah!!
I've got my booking in appointment for mid May!

ArjaD · 20/04/2020 15:33

@december2020 go you, it's so nice to get an appointment in. I tried a grand total of 19 times to call in for an appointment today, once they called back and my phone went straight to vmail because the network is so overloaded... And now the office is shut for the day. Sigh. I'll try again tomorrow...

Tbug · 20/04/2020 15:46

@december2020 I haven't done it today, been trying to write an essay and also I'm going to have to defer my final year of my degree so not sure how happy my dad will be 😂😂 what date are you due? And when's your early scan?

@ArjaD that's so annoying :( I just had to refer myself online once I'm 6 weeks which is quite good!

djmbaker · 20/04/2020 15:52

@ArjaD
I'm okay , I've been put on antibiotics for my UTI.. so I'm just resting up really.
I do feel relatively calm though so I hope this is a good sign. 🙏🏻
I didn't have this many symptoms with my last pregnancy so I'm holding onto that.
Suddenly Christmas feels like a thousand years off 😂

Twitchett22 · 20/04/2020 15:53

Just booked my booking appointment with the midwife, 4 whole weeks away and it feels like such a long time! Anyone else just already desperate for their 12 week scan? 🙈
I finished a nightshift this morning and I'm so tired, grumpy, teary and generally moody. I feel sick and just want to sleep away the next 8 weeks 🙈 DD wants to blow raspberries on me and scream peppa pig all day though so not sure that's gonna happen 😂

ArjaD · 20/04/2020 16:47

@Tbug they should bring that technology in here, that would be so much easier!
@djmbaker that's good to hear! I feel calm too, and like you I have a lot more symptoms now than with my first.. I guess it's true when they say no 2 pregnancies are the same huh!
@Twitchett22 I'm the same, just desperate for any appt at all, let alone a scan. Whyyyyy can't I get through to anyone!!!!! I have DS using me as a climbing frame atm, never any peace to be had.... God help us when this one arrives! I hope he or she have daddy's horizontal demeanour! 🤣

Hi 👋🏻 can I join? Congratulations to all! I got my BFP today after 9 months of trying. Think I'm still in shock! I'm 34 and my husband is 39 and this is our first pregnancy. With the dates of my LMP, I am 4 weeks with a due date of 27th December. I have spoken to the GP today as I need a higher dosage of Folic Acid due to high BMI (have been trying to lose weight). Apparently I can self-refer to midwife team from 6 weeks. Here's hoping we all have a healthy 9 months! 💗💗💗💗
