@EmmaA96 that happened with my veins first time round. Midwife ended up half a vial short and told me I might need to go back if they didn't have enough. At 28 weeks my MW had to send me to a phlebotomy clinic as he just couldn't get anything out (I did warn her). Same this time around. MW said I had "crap" veins 🤣

@Flora20 are you not keeping hope of bits and bobs of clothes in case you have a boy? I know one of our local mum's groups have been offering bags of clothes ages X because people are having problems getting to shops to get bits and bobs.

Is anyone exactly 14 weeks today? If so what's your due date. Because sonographer brought my due date forward these days but only changed I by 1 day Confused to the 25th but I make it the 23rd? I didn't query it as I'm.hoping for ELCS so my due date won't be relavent anyway x

DressingGown87 · 24/04/2020 08:52

@babymama09 I think we’ve spoke about it on the rainbows thread? Hopefully they will monitor you closely too, and you’ll get the extra checks. I wouldn’t trust doing it myself, you should be able to find an app out there.

@FirstTimeBumps I’m 14+3 today, my due date 20/10/20 so I guess you would be the 23rd?

@Sls668 I wake up so early and just can’t get back to sleep, and then just shattered all day. I love my sleep too. I’m consultant led (not for asthma’s) they will probably just see you, and looks at the risk and then decide whether to make you consultant led or back to midwife led, if that’s makes sense?

Flora20 · 24/04/2020 09:01

@Freddie1987 I'm pretty local, about 20 minutes from Leeds!

@FirstTimeBumps It's not me who's giving clothes away, our daughter's clothes are all pretty gender neutral and have no problems dressing a boy in them if that's what we have!

FirstTimeBumps · 24/04/2020 09:14

Oops sorry @Flora20 I get lost with all the posts haha I should really check in more frequently 🙈

DressingGown87 · 24/04/2020 09:59

@firsttimebumps I think it was me. As I’ve got loads of clothes from my (ex) step kids. They only start from age 2, but most are 4+ to 8 years. So would be a long time before I got use out of them. I don’t think I could dress my baby in the boys old clothes, as it would just be a constant reminder. But hopefully they will be needed by some families

Freddie1987 · 24/04/2020 11:05

@FirstTimeBumps I'm exact same dates as you and yes due date has been set at 23rd. Not that it's likely they'll arrive on time eh!

@HelenMarie1001 great news, I'm booked into LGI now but had my booking appointment at Jimmys. Which branch did you manage to book gender scan in at WITW as online it says they're doing health checks only?

@Flora20 ahh fab that there's so many of us close by! Are either of you thinking about where you want to give birth? I'd really like a home birth as in low risk but not sure how likely that's going to be given the virus situation SadI really wish there was a birth centre or midwifery led unit in Leeds, I'm really unfamiliar with hospitals and would much rather have a calm, dark environment!

FirstTimeBumps · 24/04/2020 12:11

@DressingGown87 ah fair enough. The space would probably be more useful at first anyway. My auntie bought my LB a dressing gown in age 5-6 when he was 3 months old 😶

roarfeckingroar · 24/04/2020 12:20

@Freddie1987 @BS9790 my fiancé is northern, from Leeds, and now lives in SW London with me. I think he misses it a bit and no doubt our baby will pronounce bath / path / castle wrong differently Smile

Freddie1987 · 24/04/2020 12:59

@roarfeckingroar hahaha! That's brilliant. Have you never been tempted by a life up North? My bf is the most Leeds person you can get Grinhaha. I lived in London for 8 years and realised that I needed to settle back up North eventually. Still miss it though, all my best mates are still there and in Brighton too.

Lolllyf · 24/04/2020 14:08

@roarfeckingroar I am also in SW London! Which hospital have you booked at? I booked at Kingston but I am sort of equidistant between Chelsea and Westminster and St George’s too but I decided on Kingston.

Flora20 · 24/04/2020 15:22

@Freddie1987 I'm planning a home birth. I had one with my first and it was amazing, I've no intention of going into hospital (unless there's a sudden medical need obviously...) I'm assuming/hoping that everything will have calmed down by October. The only reason that home births have been put on hold is because the ambulance service is prioritising covid patients, so on the assumption that we'll be past the peak and hopefully not into another wave by then, they should be back on. Fingers crossed...

Sls668 · 24/04/2020 16:29

@roarfeckingroar my bf is also from London so we regularly have the grass/bath/laugh convo. I’m so happy baby will have a Yorkshire accent!

@Freddie1987 I was completely shocked when one of the first things the midwife asked was ‘And where do you plan to give birth?’, I’d not even thought past my next nap never mind labour! It’s very rare I’ve ever had to go to hospital so genuinely have no idea if either hospital is better than the other!

roarfeckingroar · 24/04/2020 16:37

@Freddie1987 I swear DP is also the most Leeds person ever. It's lovely but my career, life and family are all in London and the SE and his sister is down here too so no chance of moving up.
My dad is also from Yorkshire but settled in Surrey 40 years ago Smile.

@Lolllyf Chelsea and Westminster for me; it's lovely and just a 20 min walk. I've opted for the midwife led unit, which is attached to the main hospital. I think you've made the right choice with Kingston > St George's.

HelenMarie1001 · 24/04/2020 16:57

@Freddie1987 I was able to book the early scan over the phone, they booked me in at Farsley. I emailed them as I wanted to book the gender scan but could only see the reassurance scans online. She said that as part of the reassurance scan they can tell you the gender.

I've gone with Jimmy's just because it's where I was born, they seem quite similar but it feels too soon to make the decision!

Lolllyf · 24/04/2020 17:03

@roarfeckingroar great! I worked there for over a year (On Labour ward too) it’s also a great area to be in. The birth centre there is very nice.

Flora20 · 24/04/2020 17:37

All these Yorkshire people, it's great! (Obviously fine if you're a southerner too!)

roarfeckingroar · 24/04/2020 17:40

Oh yay thanks @Lolllyf . Where in SW London are you?

justtb · 24/04/2020 18:05

Hi, my name is Becky. Had my dating scan on Monday and have been given due date of 30th October Grin
This is my first pregnancy and feeling a bit more anxious because of this virus.. thought I'd join in this forum/thread as I could do with the reassurance. Thanks x

Mc3209 · 24/04/2020 18:18

Hi @justtb congratulations and welcome!
It's all a bit weird with coronavirus, but try to focus on the positives. You are almost out of 1st trimester! How is your pregnancy so far?

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 24/04/2020 18:56

@justtb welcome :) Its my first baby too and it's difficult sometimes not to be anxious with the virus but focus on the fact that baby is healthy and we ve got a while to go yet.

FirstTimeBumps · 24/04/2020 19:18

@justtb congratulations!

Sls668 · 24/04/2020 19:59

@justtb we’re due on the same day! I think quite a few people are on here actually

SamK93 · 24/04/2020 20:09

Hi @justtb congratulations! We're all in the same boat don't worry, we're all here to support each other. I'm also due on the 30th along with @Sls668 it's nice to share your journey with people in the same boat x

UpsyDaisy1234 · 24/04/2020 20:19

@Justtb Congratulations & Welcome! This is my 3rd & my due date is three days before yours. Anxiety is a norm in pregnancy, just hang on to positivity.

BS9790 · 25/04/2020 08:35

@Freddie1987 I had an early private scan in Leeds. The company I went to arent doing gender scans due to corona but are doing reassurance scans where they can tell you the gender as part of that from 16 weeks. X
