@Danielle95lab I’ve had problem with backache since 8 weeks! Even doing bits around the house just sets it off! But this past week it seems to have eased again! I didn’t realise how common backache was in early pregnancy I thought it was just as we got bigger towards the end! I tried not to take paracetamol and eased it with warm baths & hot water bottles

Danielle95lab · 19/04/2020 13:23

@Jaffas22 yeah I have days where it's nonexistent then some days where it's just all day long. It's not even bad enough for a hot water bottle to be honest, I'm just freaking myself out constantly over analysing every ache😂 I think I'm losing my sanity, thought I'd be better past 12 weeks what a fool I was haha xxx

WaveStreet · 19/04/2020 13:27

13 weeks on Wednesday and i do feel more my usual self over the last couple of weeks, although the tiredness does hit during the day even though I'm managing to sleep quite well and my goodness pregnancy constipation is a new hell!

Bath & wheat bag for backache is worthwhile for me too, night is the worst for me.

Good luck to the rest of those with scans this week!

Jaffas22 · 19/04/2020 13:30

@Danielle95lab what’s your other symptoms been like throughout? I think iv been really lucky. No sickness just nausea, went off food and drinks (that was hard knowing I need to eat&drink but not actually fancying anything) then my backs probably been up there with one of the worst so I don’t feel I can complain! .... the lack of symptoms worried me more than anything!

Danielle95lab · 19/04/2020 13:36

@Jaffas22 yeah pretty similar to you to be honest. However, I have been sick on occasion typically when I don't eat every few hours or first thing in the morning. But yeah my backs always been a nightmare. Even when we were trying to conceive, I knew when I was ovulating because my back would kill me. Must be hormone thing for us? I've had three scans so I know baby is fine, I'm just a nightmare me😂

Freddie1987 · 19/04/2020 13:50

Agreed on the lower back ache but then I've always had issues with mine including a displaced coccyx.

Funnily enough though, I read up on something really interesting earlier as at my scan the sonographer mentioned I had a slightly tilted uterus, towards my back. Obviously my anxious brain decided I needed to Google this to see if it means anything (it's fine, it's pretty common) BUT they did mention that women with a tilted uterus have tended to suffer with lower back problems or bad PMS symptoms with back pain and this is me all over! Reassuringly, Dr Google also said that because the uterus obviously expands so much and moves up the pelvis that it might ease off back pain during the second trimester as we grow...means we might get a break for a few weeks before the third trimester heaviness kicks in Shock just thought I'd share in case anyone has the same!

Jaffas22 · 19/04/2020 13:56

@Danielle95lab hahaha! We sound so similar! Iv had 4 scans 2 due to bleeding/pains and 2 private just so my partner could share the experience! Can’t seem to control my anxiety as soon as I get a little niggle I’m thinking the worst it’s awful! Hats off to all those who have gone the whole 12 weeks without any early scans!! .. I know it’s natural to be worried and want baby to be okay but I just don’t want the midwifes thinking “here we go just another overly anxious first time mum again”

Jaffas22 · 19/04/2020 13:58

@Freddie1987 that’s very interesting!! When I had my first smear they told me I had a tilted uterus! And I have always suffered with back pain when on my period! Thanks for sharing! Fingers crossed it eases for us ☺️

Preggerspat · 19/04/2020 14:01

@firstpregnancy20 try not to worry about your baby, I have ate nothing but bread between weeks 6 and 12, I missed so many of my pregnacare and I am on cyclizine for sickness. I had my scan on wed and it's all great, baby was chilled to the max and they put my date forward by 6 days (il be sticking to my own date if it becomes an issue at end of preg) so the growth of the baby has definitely not been negatively affected. Just you eat what you want when you want because when you feel better you will instinctively try to eat healthier that's what happened to me when I could manage it, dont be hard on yourself its such a tough time xx

Danielle95lab · 19/04/2020 14:07

@Freddie1987 that's so interesting! They haven't told me I have a tilted uterus but I was scanning my notes after my 12 week scan and it did mention it. So that could be the problem, makes total sense!

@Jaffas22 haha until we feel that baby move I don't think we will be sane. Even then we probably still won't be 😂 I'm sick of it though, feel like I'm mentally torturing myself with all this anxiety. I'm banning myself from forums apart from this group one, cause that kicks my stress levels up a notch. To be fair, we should be overjoyed. We've finally hit a massive milestone and the risks have dropped hugely, yet us negative Nancy's are still looking for a problem😂😂xxx

Preggerspat · 19/04/2020 14:08

@Rach167 I am so sorry for your loss, the same has happened to 2 of my best friends at this stage and it is just heartbreaking xx

Preggerspat · 19/04/2020 14:28

Omg @EmmaA96 I was mentally preparing myself for twins before my scan because I have been so so sick compared to previous 2 baby's! Congratulations that is just lovely Smile

DressingGown87 · 19/04/2020 14:40

I’m still struggling to get my head round it all, and I think until it kicks me in the ribs to say “oi I’m in here”, I still don’t think I will believe it. Everyone is like you should be over the moon, it’s everything you wanted, not worrying. But from being told “you can’t have children / carry a baby and don’t qualify for IVF”, to finding out I’m having a suprise baby. I can’t get my head round it.

Flora20 · 19/04/2020 15:16

@DressingGown87 I didn't have the same medical history and our first was very much planned, but I was the same until she was born - even when she was kicking and punching me in the last few months of pregnancy it was hard to equate that with an actual baby! When she was born it was a bit of a shock 😂

Sorry for those of you who are still struggling with nausea and exhaustion, hopefully it eases off soon! I'm back to no symptoms now, although there's a definite bump appearing!

@Danielle95lab I've not got backache at the moment but it was a real issue in the last month or so of my first pregnancy. To the extent that when I went into labour I didn't realise for ages because it was just more back ache! Wheat bags and baths were the only things that really helped me.

Mc3209 · 19/04/2020 15:19

I am not expecting anxiety to go anywhere for the duration of the pregnancy, for me at least. I will always find something to worry about 😂 I've only just about now stopping knicker checking every time I go to the loo...
I am hoping once NIPT results come back I will breathe a bit easier.

My current challenge is to keep drinking enough water. I find if I don't consciously down 8 large glasses of water a day I get very dehydrated and headachy. Nausea is mostly gone thankfully, but I just need to remember to drink water.

I m a tiny bit nervous for my 12-week scan on Tuesday, I know everything is likely to be fine and no real reason to worry. I'll just be glad when it's done.

DH has been doing more cooking during the lockdown as he says he wants to learn more things to be able to teach our baby to be able to cook, he's a pretty decent cook anyway but I've not had to use much energy on cooking which is lovely.

Mc3209 · 19/04/2020 17:10

@1990shopefulftm best of luck for Tuesday! It's so natural to be slightly apprehensive before a scan.
I've got my actual NHS 12 week scan on Friday and even after seeing the baby on Monday all being fine, a tiny part of me is anxious for Friday 😬

My DH is also doing most of the cooking. We've already agreed that when the baby arrives he will be doing the input (once s/he is off breast milk) and I will do the output..

@Mc3209 I didn't feel that bad before my private one so I don't know why I feel worse for the 12 week one. Hope your scan goes well too.

AdventureAhead · 19/04/2020 17:31

Just catching up on all the posts from the last few days!

I've had my scan, so relieved to see a healthy baby with a good heartbeat! I feel so much more at ease and am now just feeling very lucky to have had relatively few symptoms rather than worrying about what that might mean.

@Rach167 so so sorry to hear this. Flowers I hope you're taking care of yourself.

Jaffas22 · 19/04/2020 17:54

Question for the ladies who are already parents .... when’s the ideal time to shop for a pram? Like do you order it and it take so long to come or is it usually pretty quick? ☺️ Just trying to work out timings!

KitKatKit · 19/04/2020 19:13

Ok I feel less pathetic knowing some of you are feeling as tired as me! I managed to cook dinner today, that was my achievement!

Good question @jaffas22 I tentatively started looking this morning but my head was spinning after a while so I parked the idea!

FirstTimeBumps · 19/04/2020 20:06

@Jaffas22 we didn't get a pram with #1 and insisted on a sling, we had quite an out there midwife who had done it with all four of her kids and thought it was a wonderful idea. My auntie turned up on day 3 after he was born with my cousin's old one 🤣 but a few people had said to me to wait until baby was here to get one. With Amazon and Argos you can order it online and have it the next day worst case.

With regards to kicks, with my LB I felt nothing until 20 weeks but I swear the past day or two I've felt flutters. I'm only just over 13 weeks and I know it can happen this early but I'm not convinced however maybe it's because I've got quite a small gap between #1 and this one? I kind of hope it is because it gives that added element of reassurance

fosk · 19/04/2020 20:44

Hi @glooorb . Sorry to hear your sonographer was a bit of a grump. Although the PAPP A is probably fine, a friend of mine had a baby with inuterine growth issues and only found out now, a few years later and under supervision of a consultant with another child that her PAPP A was low with her first, but nobody raised it with her and this can be an indicator of growth issues for some. I'm sure it's fine but I'd do a bit of research and then speak to your midwife or GP armed with the evidence and see if further testing or monitoring is available. No harm in being extra careful. Good luck with it all!

DressingGown87 · 19/04/2020 22:09

@Flora20 I know I think it’s quite common in pregnancy, until the baby is here, it’s quite hard to feel that it’s real sometimes.

@Mc3209 I’m also guilty of not drinking enough water! Seem to have slacked off, but need to try harder!

@1990shopefulftm Good luck for your scan on Tuesday! I do think scan anxiety is a thing, but hopefully after the scan you feel a bit more at ease. Your DH sounds like an amazing rock!

@AdventureAhead congratulations about your scan! It seems quite a few of us have been lacking on the symptom front! Hopefully this doesn’t catch up with us all later on.

I’ve had a quick scan of the internet on prams. Couldn’t decide for the life of me. Need to work out what my main features need to be, types of use etc. So halted my search.

I’ve been pretty tired all day, and not done much. Decided to go out for a walk, try stay a little bit active, and get some fresh air outside of my garden fence. Walked for miles though (Which is good as the dizziness has subsided)... kind of got lost! But came across this...
