@Zaalfruit I'm the same, I have my eye on a few things but I'm a bit scare to buy yet. I want to wait until 20 weeks and hopefully feeling some kicks 🤞

LexiM · 30/04/2020 19:52

@otterbaby sorry you had such a disappointing call. I completely understand it’s hard for midwives at the moment and phone calls are sometimes all they can offer but they should at least use that call time to make Mother’s feel as at ease as possible not worse.

@Buzz22 so happy for your husband that he will get to attend a scan, bet you both can’t wait!

@BntTowers I’m with you on that feeling. For me needing to burp all the time is so annoying but I feel so sick if I don’t do it. I rarely eat big meals anymore as I can’t and I keep thinking that’s only going to get worse as time goes on!

CouscousEvaporator · 30/04/2020 19:52

There’s been some great advice on here, thank you. I’ve been researching breastfeeding and always knew I’d try and do it but I’ve completely grossed myself out!! Then I am worrying if that’s really bad and I’ll be a shit mum!!

My SIL bought loads from precious little one, she loved it.

I’m really tempted to get a Doppler... has anyone got one?

@otterbaby my 16 week felt very like that too, like I was just on a list and a token call. Bit of a shame.

The books I have is Positive Birth Book by milli hill (it’s brill), first time parent, and a book on your baby week by week. That’s also really good as it gives you an idea of how many nappies, how long in a day they sleep and cry 😆

Hope you’ve all had a good day

CouscousEvaporator · 30/04/2020 19:54

I am also getting the heebeejeebies that there’s a January thread! Can’t believe 18 weeks has flown!!

Spark27 · 30/04/2020 19:58

I had takeaway pizza for dinner. It was so yummy. I only had 3 slices, but wanted more. I am now soooooo full up and uncomfortable. Laid out on the sofa, feeling so full, but wishing I could eat more. Sad times Grin

Zaalfruit · 30/04/2020 21:02

I wanted fried food - I wanted vegi nuggets and fish fingers fried and super crunchy scampi and chips , fried a few things . Feel so full now I can’tMove and now my stomach feels hard just laying on the floor thinking why did I eat so much . @Spark27 pizza is my all time Favourite but since being pregnant I can’t handle the idea of it - it actually upsets me 🤣😂

@CouscousEvaporator ( sorry doesn’t let me tag you) I want to get one - but on amazon they don’t look legit to me . I’m scared thou if I get one and then I can’t hear a beat I will go crazy . So not sure 🤔 dh is against it thinks I’m already a bit nuts - made him clear all his clothes out of the chest of drawers to prepare for baby . 7 months early

@Buzz22 ahh so lucky your dh can go with you , I feel like a lot of our partners / family have been robbed of this amazing moment - this picture doesn’t justify it for them .

@BntTowers after 20 weeks let’s take the plunge and purchase something - for me it will be one clothing of item to reveal my husband the gender .

LexiM · 30/04/2020 21:46

@CouscousEvaporator obviously totally up to you whether you get one but having watched the midwife find the heartbeat this week I personally can see why they don’t advise it. It took her quite a while to find it and she’s well practiced. Had I been at home and couldn’t find it, I would probably have found it distressing and then felt like I was being a pain to the NHS to have to call up and say I was worried when they advise not to use them. Especially when the baby is this tiny and moves around a lot it can be hard to find, I expect later on it maybe easier though and I guess if it did reassure you then possibly an option.

Thanks for recommending that book, I had heard good things about it but didn’t realised it covered so many areas, I might get it. I find I’m not reading many books at the moment as I don’t have the concentration.

I keep looking at baby things but feel totally overwhelmed by making choices and the cost of everything. The only thing we have started doing from this week is getting one or two things on the weekly shop e.g. bottles, nappies, wipes, maternity pads etc. that don’t cost much but would add up if purchase all at once.

I must have looked at all the brands of bedside cribs and still feel none the wiser over which to go for. I wanted to make a decision so I can keep an eye out for a second hand one over the coming months.

I have finished painting the bathroom which my back is relieved by. Just need to sort the tiles out as when we moved in they were painted so badly and are actually quite nice underneath. Just a bit more paint removal to go! I also ordered the nursery paint this morning but will probably not start that for a few weeks.

BooMamaBear · 01/05/2020 00:27

We only used a home doppler coz my Dads a GP so he knows what he's doing and what to look for -the other issue apart from not finding the heartbeat is that to an untrained person you could pick up the heartbeat from the placenta which could be mistaken fur that of the baby or lead to the assumption that as they placenta has a heartbeat the baby must be fine which isn't necessarily the case! Xx

babymama09 · 01/05/2020 00:41

Hi ladies,
Sorry not been on for a few days my birthday pressie from hubby came at weekend he bought me a new pc so been playing games to stop me from obsessing about prams.

I have read a few of your posts but not all, there is a lot of conversations about hay-fever I honestly hate it when I am pregnant because nothing seems to work. I thought my morning sickness had lifted I am 15 weeks 2 days but I was wrong I have been heaving again yesterday.

I am counting the days for my 16 week scan it's on the 12th May, I needed to correct this as I believe I gave a date a few days earlier.

I have had slight movements I will be honest this is my 7th baby 9th pregnancy and movements aren't as strong as I thought they would be but I am trying not to overthink it or my anxiety will set off big time....

How is everyone feeling? Welcome to any new mummies to be, if I have missed any thing pls forgive me there arw a lot of posts to read over a few days.
Xx

Quiffy · 01/05/2020 08:04

@Indigogirl88 I swear super noodles don't taste as good as they used it. I loved them before but had some last year and meeeeh.

@otterbaby I'm sorry about your appointment, that really sucks :( is there any questions that we could help with from what we heard from midwives? Although not all districts are the same.

@Buzz22 That's so good you've got a scan tomorrow with DP! Do you have any guesses on whether boy or girl?

@Spark27 How you feeling today? I'm hoping the weekend brings a bit more cheer.

@BntTowers He sounds a nightmare :( roll on maternity leave

@CouscousEvaporator I'm with you on breastfeeding, which is why I'm thinking combi feeding so I don't feel pressure either way.

@babymama09 Happy belated birthday and PC sounds great

Treaclepie19 · 01/05/2020 08:17

Hi all! Been a bit all over the place recently. Have been self isolating in case my cough is more than hayfever and in the meantime had an issue with possible uti so have had to ask my parents to drop off a sample this morning and collect my antibiotics.

Scan is on Monday at 17+5 though and I'm so excited and so nervous all at once ❤

I agree @Quiffy, super noodles are definitely not as good as they once were.

@LexiM we used the chicco next to me last time and will this time too Smile

Spark27 · 01/05/2020 09:25

Morning ladies. Was grumpy this morning as pregnancy insomnia and needing to wee kept me awake a lot. And then once I got back to sleep DD woke up. But DH has just made me a homemade McMuffin so that has made me very happy (wishing I'd asked for 2 now!) Just having a proper instant coffee (not the decaf that I usually have now) to try and fuel me through the day.
Very happy it's the weekend and that it brings me closer to my scan next week.

Excited for your scan today @Buzz22

otterbaby · 01/05/2020 09:45

Aw thanks @Quiffy it's a lot of stuff that I guess I knew but just wanted some reassurance on? Like I think I've developed pregnancy tinnitus and just wanted to know if it's normal! Also wanted clarity on what consultant led actually means but I'll just have to wait to find out I think. Just hoping the 20 week scan is more thorough and not just 'get in and get out' x

Indigogirl88 · 01/05/2020 10:58

@CouscousEvaporator I'm the same I keep thinking I'm be a crap mum, and I'm trying to read books etc but not quite working!

@Quiffy nah the noodles didnt really hit the spot

@Spark27 getting pizza tonight! So excited

All this food is not helping my spots Sad
But I'll try a facial at the weekend

Not much else to report here. You sound much further ahead @LexiM re decorating, I've had a look at a few prints online which are cheering me up but I want things pretty simple and minimal for baby

Indigogirl88 · 01/05/2020 10:59

@otterbaby I'm the same but still nervous about the 20w scan tbh and once thats over I'll feel more relieved, I think I have an anterior placenta as I dont feel much at all

Had anyone thought of baby names yet?

Quiffy · 01/05/2020 11:07

@Treaclepie19 ouch on the UTI but exciting your next scan is close! How's your cough getting along?

@Spark27 McMuffin sounds fab, we made them using the Tesco pork sausage 'burgers' a few weeks ago and it was AMAZING.

@otterbaby Tinnitus does not sound fun at all, I did see someone sharing an article on it being common, but nice to get reassurance from midwife. Hopefully, just a bad day and 20w scan will be better.

@Indigogirl88 We have a name and middle name pretty much done. We're pretty certain it's a boy, but we'd like the first name for a girl too, just a different middle. We've started nicknaming the baby the three initals which has been fun. DH was dead set against the middle name but loves it now (thankfully)

LexiM · 01/05/2020 11:14

@Quiffy I hope your sickness eases soon, I really feel for you.

@Treaclepie19 thanks for the recommendation. To me that looks like one of the bigger bedside cribs which makes sense as it will last longer.

@babymama09 happy late birthday! Sounds like you’ve enjoyed it as much as possible 😄

@indigogirl88 I’m not sure about that as it will probably take me months to even open the paint! Took me 4 months to finally get round to the bathroom and still have the woodwork to do and tiles. That being said I have to do it before we can order and make the wardrobe etc. so that may encourage me to get it done. Things aren’t going to be so productive now I’m going back to work. We’ve gone gender neutral in a greyish green colour so helps we don’t have to wait to find out the sex. I don’t have any plans for the nursery beyond that though.

In terms of names - no clue. We don’t really discuss it very often as when we do we have different tastes and just agree to not decide haha useless! We are Going to wait to find out the sex so we aren’t wasting hours debating names we can’t use.

@Spark27 hope you have a better weekend and sounds exciting for your scan next week!

Treaclepie19 · 01/05/2020 11:18

@Quiffy it's pretty much gone! I get it a bit in the morning and at night but its more just a tickle than anything else thankfully.

@LexiM as with all of them it is only until they can sit up so 5 or 6 months but my DS was really long and he fit in it until that point Smile

CouscousEvaporator · 01/05/2020 11:55

Glad your uti is clearing up @treaclepie19!

Thanks for the comments on dopplers, I know you’re right I just would like to allow DH to hear it. ☹️

My bestie has one and is a midwife so when lockdown is over maybe I’ll ask her to give it a go.

I also haven’t painted anything yet!! Awaiting the 20/21 week scan before I let loose and buy everything in sight 😂

babymama09 · 01/05/2020 12:03

@Quiffy thankyou for the birthday message, it was 7/4, but my DH had bought me a PC and it needed to be built. Very happy with it though, i am typing on it on as we speak in fact :-)

Surprised that my morning sickness hasn't past like i though, everything is making me feel sick and because i am afraid to eat what i crave i dont have much i can throw up so its constant heaving.

Has anyone else seen their midwife yet? I am starting to get anxious, my consultant asked me to contact her and make sure she is checking heartbeat and blood pressure etc but when i contacted her i got nothing back. I dont want to a nightmare patient but my anxiety wants to make me try and contact her again, what do you guys think? I have my next scan on 12/5 so in 11 days encounting, i am super afraid i am going to go and not find a heartbeat (this happened with my daughter in 2007 at 28 weeks i am only 15+3 or there abouts)
thanks guys
xx

roarfeckingroar · 01/05/2020 13:37

@babymama09 I met my midwife for my first appointment and spoke to her again on Wednesday for my 16 week. She was great, we talked through how I'm feeling and she's referred me to speak to someone about my mental health (ok now but my history of EDs and depression are a concern) which is happening on Tuesday. Overall it was reassuring and I'm going in for my 24 and 28 week appointments, which will be nice.

I have a private scan tomorrow at 16+6 and am going to find out the sex GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin can't wait.

roarfeckingroar · 01/05/2020 13:39

@LexiM I feel your pain re names. DP and I have some crossovers for girls but boys are going to be tricky. I think his are a bit dull and frankly even I'll admit all mine stem from my Surrey boarding school background / Jilly Cooper novels.

Treacle81 · 01/05/2020 13:45

Afternoon girls! I’ve not felt great hence not been online and trying to wfh is proving trickier than I thought! I just went out as not been out in 2 days, lovely but v busy.picked up the mum to be pack from Boots d wish I never bothered now. The epaderm cream pit is out of date in Aug- pretty pointless! That a sample nappy rash cream and tons cream f leaflets 😒 hope you are feeling better @Indigogirl88 and hope scan goes well @Buzz22 xx

@LexiM My mum had terrible sickness the whole way through and apparently it can be genetic, so starting to think I'll be nauseous the whole way. Just annoying that I am eating through the nausea so not losing weight haha.

Oh and I'm thinking about the Snuzpod 3, it was between that and the chicco but I get a good vibe off the snuzpod.

@Treaclepie19 that's really good! Hopefully was just hayfever.

@babymama09 Can you ring your midwife to check? I had a phone call last week at 16+4. Sorry about your past loss, I would ring so you can check

@Treacle81 That's why I'm not sure I'll bother with the packs, not seen many people rave about them.

@roarfeckingroar I LOVE Jilly Cooper novels. I really liked Lysander for a name but DH thinks I'm loopy. I really wanted to meet a nice Rupert Campbell-Black (even if he wasnt always nice...). There are some great names in it and the Fiona Walker ones. French Relations inspired our middle name
